Mind expanding on that? What OS?
I tried it on mine, and it was FC maddness. I really don't think it likes our resolution

GB for Sure, but I remember having it working with HC as well, just don't use HC at all anymore.

I should qualify that...mine is a beta copy....but the same APk works on my nooks, my Evo, my wife's shift, and a witstech tablet I use to mess around with....I don't think scaling is a problem.

I installed the 5.0 beta about a month ago on my 1.1/3.0 NC.
The thrill wore off pretty quickly. It wasn't really designed for a tablet. The icons and the fonts were huge. There were entire panels devoted to Weather, Clock, Calendar, and Flickr. I would have much rather seen entire panels devoted to News, and messaging. Of the remaining panels, there wasn't as much customizability available as it initially appeared. Also, it only runs in portrait mode. It doesn't switch to landscape.
When in carousel mode, the contents of panels would animate after about 10 seconds of inactivity. Though visually impressive, I call this "dancing bologna." It serves zero purpose, like animated GIFs on web pages back in the mid-90s.
I still have this on my NC to show to folks, but it's not the default launcher.

Launcher Pro

Anyone know if Launcher Pro will look good at a higher resolution like the Atrix has? I tried LP on my Galaxy Tab and it did not look so good due to the high resolution.

I looks great. I changed it to 5 rows, instead of 4 stock, and you can fit more on each screen than a captivate. It's crazy fast too, and the transitions look great.
i just paid for the PRO version because i really liked the free version. Where do you go in and change how many rows and such? There isnt a Launcher Pro app in the menu.

You can change most launcher settings by pusing the menu button the homescreen and choosing "preferences" or something similar. There is also a shortcut there to the Android Settings menu, so don't be surprised if you click that one first.

Mine's working fine. Only problem is that on the "People" widget, contact icons dont show up. Well, only the contacts with a gmail pic show, but the ones synced with Facebook dont. Anyone else care to confirm this?
Thanks

I have had this happen on other phones. I just left the Samsung Epic 4g to get the Atrix and my Epic did the same thing. I waited a few hours (next day) and updated the "people" widget and they all appeared. Let me know if this helps.
Got a thread going in General about reboots. Launcher Pro may (or may not) be the cause.
For anyone installing, post back if the phone reboots at some point (within 24 hours) after installing Launcher Pro.

Same here, and using Folder Org for grouping apps together, along with the "show apps" as the icon, looks very slick and excellent details on the tiny icons.
Been running the paid launcher pro for more than 24 hours now and customized it to death. Im currently running it with beautiful widgets and live wallpaper, no problems encountered
Its not causing reboots for me, but it is laggy.

Had LP Paid edition for 24 hours now and also on BW and there has not been anything bad about it so far. I dont feel the laggy as much more like its smooth now. The one thing I dont like about all this is the icons are so much smaller and so is the text for some widgets since resolution is so high.
I tried to put the option for stretch icon to fit in column and width but that didn't really do anything.
Other than that LP on this is pretty nice..... so far so good.

Anyone with the Calibri font think they can whip up some quick dock icons for the Atrix?
Preferably like the ones from Dreamlyfe Mini set?
Bare in mind I'm using ADW, but I have noticed that Live Wallpapers make my phone feel like a brick. The second I put a static one in there my phone went into rocket mode.
Anyone having a problem setting the default Launcher? I installed Launcher Pro and it becomes the default, but I can't go in and change it back to Blur as the default with uninstalling it. HomeSwitcher or HomeSmack are not working.

SPB Mobile Shell!!

SPB mobile shell 3d! It is finally here; I've given it a try, and I must say I like it. However, the $15 (£~10) price tag is a little steep.

Does it run fine, no lag?
Maybe I'll say it, I guess I will: This thing looks like it struts its stuff more hardcore than Sense.
Yeah, how does it run? $15 is pretty steep..but it looks pretty intense compared to the other home replacements.
I was playing with it a bit on my CM7 legend, and it ran super smooth. Not sure what's it's battery impact or anything was since I was running what shall be considered a trial version, that wouldn't stay as the default home screen so only had it going for a few minutes. But like usual SPB makes a nice program and runs it at way above average cost for what it is. Might still get it later not sold on it yet though. Oh not sure if it says it anywhere but it seems to kill live wallpapers.
It doesn't support live wallpapers for 'performance issues'. It runs very smoothly though, but I've noticed that when you open the app drawer it sometimes freezes for a few seconds. Generally, it seems very good; just as eye-pleasing as sense, but smoother, and I especially like the 3d carousel and the folders. Android folders where always a bit rubbish, but the folders on this thing are as good as in iOS, only you can have an unlimited number of apps in each one!
$10 would probably be a better price for it - that's still quite a bit compared to other Android apps, but the developers have clearly put a lot of effort into this.

I'm utterly confused by this statement...what makes iOS folders so special? Other than it looking pretty when you open it.
I was almost sold on it until I figured out icon and widget placement is just like iOS, ie you can't put them anywhere. That totally kills my layout scheme.
Well, I had a go. $15 is way too much for this. It's not what I'd call a "phone changing" app. I'll stick to LPP

That's all I meant - the Android folders are quite ugly. I've always wanted a cross between iOS and Android, like MIUI, and this just about achieves that.
And yes, that is slightly annoying!

I've made the "mistake"...and have paid. The shell lasted on my phone 1 hour. Maybe it's just me, but when returning from each application launched or other screen besides the home screen, I got a BLACK one instead of the homescreen. I had to touch the screen (or press back button) once again to get the proper screen. I wrote to support, they asked me to reinstall it. I did and it's the same. So getting a black screen each time I'm supposing to be back at homescreen does not convince me at all.
That was the biggest drawback for me. There was no lag though when scroling through carousel or when playing with the menus. Other things I didn't like were the lack of widget resizing support or some other stuff I got used to from ADW Launcher/EX. The switch widgets (for WiFi/BT, etc) were not so customisable, same goes for the widgets on the screens. I was not able to set the alarm appl to be launched when pressing the clock (I use Alarm Clock+ by default), or the SMS application, or the dialer. These are things I didn't like at all, especialy from a 10 EUR/15 USD launcher. I've expected too much I guess. Back on Launcher 7 or ADW Launcher EX. Oh...I almost forgot to mention that the "auto arrange" setting for icons, widgets and so on, pissed me off alot. Could be that I didin't find where to deactivate it, but usualy I want to arrange things on my screen myself.
Good job guys...Marketing deserves it all. They convinced me to buy it...the application itself didn't.

This is a cyanogen issue, no problems for other roms.
@Rapier. As the guy above me pointed out, this seems to be a issue with CM. The same thing happened to be, but flashing Blayos Rom solved it.
I'm actually very happy with it, I think it looks great and the speed is awesome. The only thing I don't like is the shortcut auto arrange.

Too bad then. And to understand better, you're talking about the "black screen issue" right?
Still there are some other things that I don't like (I've pointed them out in my post) and I don't think they're CM related. I'm not sorry about the money, but I will not change CM ROM for this. If SPB will work on CM ROM, great, I'll give it another try...till then, I'll stick with Launcher 7 or ADW Launcher EX.
Don't missunderstood me...SPB IS GREAT. Really. I had it on my HTC Diamond (an older version) and it was the best launcher I've ever used on that phone. But after switching to Android and playing with ADW, Launcher Pro and others, I just feel it more "restricted" and offering fewer options, especially when talking about a much higher price. The interface is neat, has a lot of things, but going deep under it's hood is not allowing you to customize it as much as other launchers. Most of the widgets are limited in functionality and do not allow many customizations. But it may be a perfect match for someone looking for basic functionality and usage of standard apps.
Hi
I just purchased a legend having stock 2.2 Sense on it (Vodafone). When I try to goto SPB Shell Home, it shows that SPB Shell is loading, but then nothing happens
Any suggestions?
Yes I'm talking about the black screen issue. I agree with you, it's not worth changing roms over. I actually use Blayos Rom regularly, just happened to test it with CM. So its not a big deal for me. I also think the lack of customization is a bummer, but I'm happy with it for now. In a month I don't know. Also for me 15 dollars ain't that much, that's barely one dinner in Norway

[Q] Slow app drawer

I've noticed that the stock Sense app drawer scrolls incredibly slow in the "All Apps" tab and isn't much better in the "Downloaded" tab. Compared to ADW EX it scrolls about as quickly as Verizon gets updates out. Has anyone else experienced this?
My Sense app drawer scrolls just fine.
I have tried both LPP+ & ADWLauncher EX in mine & while both work very well I didn't really notice any speed difference between any of them.

Absolutely! Especially when you use a live wallpaper. It's crawling at about 15FPS it looks like.
I've just decided to either stick with a static wallpaper in Sense, or use whatever I want to in GO Launcher and enjoy the high speed smooth scrolling
I guess I never noticed because I never saw the point in using a Live wallpaper.

I don't typically bother with LWP's either, but I like the ICS Phase Beam LWP, so I tried it out. It's not smooth enough though.
Hopefully having real ICS on this phone with hardware acceleration will help the app drawer to be smoother.
IDK how all that works though or if it effects all aspects of the visual experience or not.
Well, I'm not using a live wallpaper. Just wallpapers from my gallery. I wanted to give Sense a try and I do like it, but the reduced speed of the app drawer is enough to convince me to switch back to the speed & added functionality of ADW EX.
It's not slow, it's designed that way. It is meant to show one full slide at a time rather than flocking through all of them at once. It's just how sense is, you'll need ti install another launcher to change it.

Jim - Yes, I'm aware that it's set up to scroll. Thanks for the heads up on that for anyone who hadn't figured it out. However...
I fixed it. I was scrolling through the app drawer today and hit the "Menu" soft key. I found an option to display the drawer as an alphabetical list instead of an icon grid and now it's fast as can be! I also love the list because it's more readable. I know this might not work for everyone, but hey, it's better than waiting for one slow page after another, right?

Pretty Sweet Visual Mods!!

Hey guys, I've done some modding on my prime to bump up the UI visuals a little
I think it really suits the clean look!
You can see it in action here in the first half of this video!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBTqYvJVHCA
How is this the clean look? Lol you got icons all over the place top n bottom of screen filled up. Looks cool but too much like a win mo clone. I'm not a fan of big lettering detailing what screen you on or whatever. This just looks like different launcher or something as I've seen others in the "Post your homescreens" thread in themes n app section just like yours. Why so many icons in top and bottom bar at once?
I like it.

Are scrollable widgets already working with adw.ex on ICS? Ditched it because of lack of scrollable widgets (but see it hasn't been updated since december 7th so guess not).

This is a seriously biased video. Just look at the pinch-zoom part of the video (around 2 minute mark) and you'll see that Android lags in full screen animations. Sure the framerate does not drop, but responsiveness to user input is lagging as opposed to iPad 2.
I love my Android devices, but that video is just badly biased.

I guess I have to try it on my TP now!
Ok so initially just looking at the screen grabs my initial reaction was meh. After watching the video I actually quite like it. I don't know if its my cup of tea just to have an entire pane exclusively for facebook feeds or the weather, but the interface works and it looks really good. Get rid of the icons at the top and it would be beautiful. Overall, good job, thumbs up.

What launcher are you using for your TS?

Hi,
I wanted to get a sense of what others are using for their launcher interface for their TS.
I have tried a handful but nothing really seems to fit the bill all that well.
I have tried
Google Now Launcher
Launcher 8
Smart Launcher
Various "Big" and "Senior Phone" launchers
Nova Launcher
among others....
I seem to be constantly going back to the stock launcher (not OUI 2.0 as that is just crap)
What are you guys using or recommend trying?
One thing I seem to really hate about going to alternative launchers is the loss of the "real" status bar..... I have tried Swipe Status Bar, but that just introduces issues with having to swipe down when you need to access touch points that are near the top of the screen. (Plus the last version that was released completely made icons no longer clickable)
D.
Stock launcher for me seems fine.
I switch between stock Android launcher and GEL. I never use OUI2.

I have used ADW EX on my other devices for a few years, so I installed it. After tweaking the icon/text sizes and a few Gravity box tweaks, seems to work quite ok.
I think pretty much any launcher will do, as long as you can customize it around the limited screen space.
Lightening launcher with x3 UI layout.
Just tried smart launcher 2 as mentioned on here. It's really good! all the elements fit perfectly on the screen almost like it's made for the TS.
I really use the OUI... But I only tried stock and OUI, didn't try any others yet, so this might change
nova for me just with the icons set very big like my status bar to much and not a fan of the status bar app that will give you access to it never worked quite like the stock status bar should.
I've been using Mini Launcher... although only for a few days and haven't tried many other options yet, so i might change if there's anything better
+Lokifish Marz. Can you please elaborate a little on your set up.
Thanks in advance.
Right now it based on Lightning but really needs to be a standalone.
Thank You Sir?

Personally, I really liked the WP8 launcher. Could fit lots of useful info and apps on the watch screen.

I keep falling back to the stock launcher. I've tried a few (nova, apex, and similar), but the status bar is the biggest issue. I'm really fond of the bar for easy overview of new notifications, and can't really live without one. Swipestatusbar solution works ok:ish, but not having the bar there after exiting apps and having the bar interfere with touch event at the top makes it a dealbreaker.
OUI is almost there - it has widgets, app drawer and screen sorting, and the status bar. It does however lack in other ways, like missing an indicator for which screen you are on, and everything looks very blurred, together with almost no customization. Some widgets looks as if they are rendered at like 50x50 pixels and zoomed to fit the screen. Also seems unstable, it has crashed a ton of times.
If the stock launcher could just get widget support, an app drawer and preferably a way to add/remove/sort your screens, I'd be happy with it. For now it works though, and seems fast and stable with status bar working..
EDIT: After playing around a few hours with different launchers today, I finally went back to Nova. It takes some getting used to, but the status bar issue now feels like an acceptable loss compared to all the gains. It works very well, and renders on small screens better than most other launchers (some have too much paddin in the grid, some render icons very pixelated or blurry, and so on). Nova does a good job, my only peeve is that icons are aligned to the top of their grid position, and widgets are aligned to the center. This means that if you place an icon next to a widget, they will not align, and also the icons come a bit too close to the top. However, it's still better than the alternatives I've tried, so sticking with Nova for now.
When?

When will you be releasing it??? :highfive:
I am using launcher 8.
The tiles uses most of the screen at any given time, as opposed to a more regular android launcher.
Android launchers in general wastes a lot of screen real estate. This is because of the way the icons are organized, with lots of empty space between them.
The tiles you get in launcher 8 is quite tight, like in a proper windows phone.
I like this.
The tiles are also customizable in size, so stuff that is often used will have big tiles, while the lesser used programs get smaller tiles.
Launcher 8 also runs smoothly.

Personally, I really liked the WP8 launcher. Could fit lots of useful info and apps on the watch screen.

i use tsf shell for many years on all my phones and tablets.
now i use it on the truesmart and it really works great.
its smooth, it looks cool, you reach everything you want in short time.
shure i have to use swype status bar, but that is not really a problem.
ok it is not really cheap, but you only pay one time and can use it on all devices, so i think the price is fair if you have more devices
