[Q] Baseband version - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have installed the custom ROM Cyanogen CM7.0 RC4 v014 Gingerbread 2.3.3 but I can't get the radio up and running. "Unknown" baseband version is the message, so it seems like have the wrong baseband version. The thread about this ROM states the right baseband version is included in the zip file. I can't find it inspecting the RAR file, so I assumed it is included in the ROM as such and the baseband will be flashed together with the ROM. Is this the case?
I have tried several full wipes and reboots but nothing helps. I ROM starts OK but no signal.

I can answer my own question. I flashed the 52 baseband version and by this the radio was on again. My taking from this is the baseband ROM is not included in the Cyanogen v14 distribution.....

did u flash on 2.0.52? Because that's I think the only x.x.52 Baseband version that exists for x10i... also wanted to use that ROM, but my baseband (2.1.54) is not supported.....
BTW: is there any difference between 2.0.xx and 2.1.xx?

Yes, I used 2.0.52. For a moment I started to think about if there is a 2.1.52, but it looks like SE just have one consecutive series of ROM, and there is just one 52 version 2.0.52.

The baseband used to be included in the .zip but J didn't include it for the last version or two. I guess he still hasn't changed the OP to tell people to get the baseband from a different thread in the dev section.

ab Ok... would be usefull, to add this, so dumb ppl like me won't try to install it with 2.1.54. XD
Will soon flash on 52 and when cam-issues are fixed, i'll get my first ROM XD

unable to install custom rom due to Edify problem

Hello guys,
I have a problem trying to install the custom rom from rendeiro2005
I rooted my phone, backed up everything using xRecovery. I have also changed my baseband to 2.1.55
When I try to install my rom with xRecovery it says that i need to switch my script from amend to Edify, but I don't have any idea how I am supposed to do that.
Is it a problem with my phone or is it just the rom which isn't correct for my phone?
my specs:
Model: x10i
firmwareversion: 2.1-update 1
baseband 2.1.55
kernel version 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
build-number 2.1.A.0.435
I hope you guys would be nice to help me out , because I'm fairly new to this stuff.
Niek
you have X Recovery V1.0 ! That only uses Edify Scripts.
Most custom ROM?s here are AMEND scripts, so you need to install XRecover V0.3
this might sound very dumb, but where do i get 0.3 xrecovery, I indeed downloaded 1.0 auto-installer but I can nowhere find the 0.3-release
Edit: never mind guys, I got it.

[Q] From v20 baseband to v10 with the "russian way"?

So yes...
There's very instructions of how to flash the new baseband to the phone... but here is also the v10 baseband,.. and is not clear if you can flash the old baseband FROM the new baseband, with the same procedure.
In fact there's a Q/A which suggest it's impossible...
From the post:
Q: This appears dangerous. Is there an alternative for switching between ROMs based on LG's GB and others like CM7?
A: Life is dangerous. If you want to flash CM7-based ROM (like mik_os' CyanogenMod 7, andy572's Gingerbread ROM or Noejn's void. #forever) and have the new baseband already, there is a baseband fix by mik_os but....
I just wonder if I can flash it back so I can flash again stock Froyo 2.2 to my phone.
A little tip...
a quite few apps that worked awesomely on Froyo, now FC just before opening.
Gingerbread update sucks...
Thanks for the help.

Multi Boot/Custom ROMs - Advanced users only plz

Hi All,
I searched the forums and though this question has been asked couple of times, I failed to get a satisfying and consolidated answer, so seeking a solution here.
Scenario: X10i, 2.3.3 Stock, rooted using aZuZu. Self-customized framework-res.apk and SemcUxpRes.apk and a truckload of apps. Poor battery life, slightly laggy.
I am equally drawn towards CM7 as well as Wolfbreak 4. I know that both are completely different flavours, but much as I love the Cyanogen innovations, so do i love the tweaks done in WB's ROM with minimal changes to the UI.
Questions:
When I backup my current ROM using xrecovery, what all elements get backed up? More precisely, if I make a backup of my stock ROM using xRecovery, will it backup all the installed apps, conntacts, messages and appdata?
If I restore this backup at a later date, will I be able to get back my phone in the same state as it was backed up? (e.g. I am on level 14 on angrybirds and I made a backup, wiped my phone, and then restored the backup, will I have to start Angrybirds afresh or I can continue from where I left off, as though nothing had happened?)
Is it possible to have multiboot on the X10? So that Everytime I boot up, I can choose whether I want to load the CM7 ROM or the WB4 ROM?
Thanks in advance.
1 yes, the things you mentioned will be backed up (but not the baseband & the kernel)
2 yes, you can play angry birds from where you left off (but as I said you can't backup/restore baseband & kernel)
3 no, not yet. Before official gb there was a solution for dual booting a 2.1 rom with a 2.2/2.3 rom, but I believe dual booting two 2.3 roms is not possible for now

Thanks for that! Just a couple of doubts here:
As you mentioned, the BB and kernel wont be backed up. How exactly will that affect my device? Will it lead to any compatibility issues if I restore to a backed up ROM?
Do I need to keep a note of the Baseband and Kernel versions of all the ROMS which I intend to flash, and flash the corresponding bb & kernel versions prior to recovering a backed-up ROM? To be more clear, supposing I am on bb .71 and kernel 2.6.29, and I flash a new ROM with a different kernel. If I wish to go back to stock by recovering my backup, will I have to flash the bb .71 and 2.6.29 kernel again?
I noticed Woflbreak's ROM uses kernel version 2.3, but I am on a different kernel version (2.6.29). Do I need to downgrade to 2.3 kernel before using the WB ROM? Won't an older version of the kernel cause a drop in performance?
well to sum it up yes you need to keep a note of kernel & baseband for avoiding any compability issue, the kernel part is pretty easy, 2.1 roms all use the same kernel & 2.3 roms another kernel, If you want to go from a 2.1 rom to a 2.3 rom you need to flash the appropriate kernel (& the baseband) with flashtools, but switching from a 2.1 rom to another 2.1 rom or from a 2.3 rom to a 2.3 rom shouldn't be a problem kernel-wise, you just need to pay attention to the required baseband & flash the right one if necessary
what rom are you on?
& by the way 2.3 on Wolfbreak is not the kernel, it's the android version
the bb and kernel are in a 7zip archive linked on the page for wolfs 4.0 along with the newest patch. it explains how to do it all on the page. You must take into consideration when trying a new rom the basebands that it is made for.
Basebands can be found here.
Most newer roms will tell you in the post which baseband you need.
Also see if users post other working baseband versions along with kernel versions. how to use a custom kernel with it and a post explaining custom kernels is here.

[q] p500h rom

Hello XDA developers.
Im a bit confused, hope you could help me..
I have an LG Optimus P500 H , and i want to install a cyanogenmod ROM with gingerbread.
Of all the information i had gathered, my phone is in the OLD baseband, with a kernel version: 2.6.32.9
I have readed that i have to install a new baseband for the cyanogenmod "P500-v10E-baseband.7z " from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149530 , is that correct?
Wich version of cyanogen do you recommend me to install? I live in argentina and i dont want to lose my 3G/HDSPA/EDGE connection.
The other thing is, that all the links are dead because of the megaupload closure. =(
Thanks.
You seem confused. New baseband is v20. As long as you are not on T-Mobile, data and 3g should work fine. If you are, you can try and if it doesn't work, revert to v10. One of the network frequencies doesn't seem working with v20 (I Think its 1800hrz - correct me if I'm wrong) and as long as your network isn't dependent of that frequency, its fine.
Try out adfad666's N2 or a cyanogenmod nightly if you want. Lupohirp's ICS is almost complete and its for the new baseband, and as far as I know, the newest oxygen tom is too

Or if you don't want to flash new baseband you can try the old baseband fixes for cm7 or cm9.

Thanks-a-lot!
I think i will go for "CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC0-OptimusOne-KANG [.32][.35][BothBasebands]" when adfad666 releases the removed link, until i feel more confident messing with the basebands and kernels, hehe..
Last year i had a HTC, wich i flashed so many times i lost count, now i see this as a whole new world!
PD: Dont like much the homescreen of "nightly" version. I miss SPB shell so much...
