Ringtones not working, - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Android General

Greetings. This is my first post in a couple of years after having problems with my HTC Universal [XDA Exec]. Please be nice to me :]
Before I made this post, I've been searching endlessly...but all I see are solutions for the same problem on a different phone running XDAndroid. So I can't find a solution in regards to the Touch Pro2.
Anyway, I have a problem. When I go to settings and set a ringtone, it doesn't show anything but "Silent." I took the advice I read at a thread from the Diamond and full formatted my SD on FAT32 and put the things back and supposedly it should work.
I tried that and I still have the same problem.
Did I do something wrong? Or are ringtones not working on the TP2 yet?
Thank you for helping in advanced. :]

+1. I've had the same problem for a couple months. It used to work fine, then tried another build and it didn't anymore, and hasn't since. I've reformatted over and over with different card readers, windows and linux, different apps... nothing has worked.

If this would help find the solution quicker.
I'm running the latest FRX06 arrrghhh created with all the latest rootfs and kernels.
I read a thread that I should go to Settings > Dev Tools > Media Scanning but I can't find it there...I'm assuming since that thread was back in September, it was an old version of XDAndroid.

There should be dev tools in app drawer, but you can try to see if in media folder there are files with strange letters or symbols..

Can't find it in the app drawer. I'm going to assume that media scanning is not there because I didn't put my SIM card in it. Well, I can't really put my SIM card because this TP2 is still locked by T-Mo and I have AT&T...just waiting for unlock code so I can use it.
But I've been messing with the phone for a while that I've been putting apps and utilities in.
Again, could it be the fact that I don't have my SIM card in is the reason why Media Scanning is not even visible?

I'm not sure if this is why Media Scanning isn't visible, but might be why ringtones can't be set/chosen.
I have a Tilt2 (RHOD300) with a working SIM and ringtone selection works fine.

I have had the same problem.
These two seps solved the problem for me:
1. full format the sdcard with the hp-tool
2. search for sounds with the mediaplayer

I found Development.apk . Though I don't know if that's the same as Dev Tools.
@Entrophy: If you don't mind, will you boot to XDAndroid without SIM for me?
And from what I recall Media Scanner runs everytime you boot it, and it tells you at the notification bar. Can you also see if it will prompt Media Scanner w/o SIM?

I'll simply edit this post for updates
EDIT:
So I got Dev Tools installed, and ran Media Scanner. One second later, it's done.
I go to my settings and its still showing just "Silent"
...or do I have to reset the phone and it will show up?

I don't mean to bump, but I just finished running Media Scanner, but it's still the same...

Media folder on the root? Yes, I do. But it only has one...and that's for Facebook.
I have the Media folder filled with all the ringtones and alarms inside the andboot folder..should I copy those and put it on the Media folder on the root?

could you try to move everything from root and delete rel_path=andboot from startup.txt

Does it make a difference? :O. I'm trying to just put the ringtones and all from Media folder inside andboot to the Media folder at root.
But if anything fails, I'll move everything to root and mess with startup.txt

It's fine. Thanks for helping me up to this point .
Since I moved the stuff in the Media Folder already, I'll try backing it up, format the SD card again and put it back. I think it should work by then.
Thanks!

Use hp usb format tool
Formats really well

Without full formatting your sdcard with the hp-format tool, you will have no luck.
Copy your SDCard to the PC, format and copy it back, scan and enjoy.

UK Postcodes for TOMTOM 6

HELP!
I have just installed the above on my XDAii.
Nearly everything works fine BUT I cannot get it to work on a seven digit uk postcode!
I have had a look at various threads on the forums and have tried putting the Greta_britian.postal file into the ZIP folder on my SD card and creating a folder named TOMTOM on the root of my SD card but it still does not give me a chance to enter a full seven digit postcode only the first three digits i.e. NG2.
Any ideas please
I have the same trouble!!! Whats with that?
Put the zip folder in program files/navigator and they will work. Took me a little messing to work it out, but also you may find that tomtom6 is a little heavy for the xda2 and will keep freezing requiring hard reset every time. Go to version 5.21

Hi there! YOu got this one sorted or still having probs? RSVP Steve
if you have bluetooth folders enabled, tomtom can't see the "ZIP" postcode folder on the storage card or the VOICES folder on the storage card. You can either copy the "ZIP" folder into the Navigator folder in main memory or you can disable Bluetooth Folders (start, settings connections, bluetooth, ftp)

My mate got it working on mine. It had something to putting blank directory on the storage card called tom tom, just something as simple as that.
Try googling it as Im sure it will appear in another forum somewhere

Need to Flash, but Broken USB Port..

I have an 8525 at home, that I need to return for Warranty replacement, via Cingular/AT&T. Problem is, it has the VP3G 3.62 rom on it, and the USB port is toast (the black thing that aligns the pins are gone, and some of the pins are mashed, or missing). I need to return this to a factory state within 9 days. I have read about flashing via memory card, but there was mention of SPL and bootloader. I don't have the phone handy to reference what's on there, but it sould be whatever the VP3G 3.62 comes with. Is there a way I can change those without using a usb connection? I don't have any sort of bluetooth tethering ability either. hope anyone can help, thank you!
Get a SD card and reader. Drop the files you need to put it back to stock software on that.
Is there a way to do the spl or/and bootloader via memory card?

Yes there is, otherwise I wouldn't have suggested it.
Assuming you have not installed HardSPL on the phone, this is what I would do:
*Grab a copy of hardspl and put it into it's own directory.
* Run RUUWrapper.exe, click on Force Using SSPL, click next. This will put a few files in the directory, one of which is named EnterBL.exe
* Copy EnterBL.exe to the SD card.
*Copy the file to the memory of the phone
*Put the ROM you want to flash on the FAT32 formatted SD card, renaming it per the SD Card Flash instructions
*Put that card in the phone
*Run EnterBL.exe from the phone's memory with the SD card in place
As I understand it, this should temporarily load the modified boot loader, which will see the image file and ask if you want to continue with the flash process.
Ok, sorry if I came off rude, as I am just new at all of this. Thanks for the information, and I'll give this a try when I get home from work this morning, and let you know how it goes. I appreciate it very much.

It's all back to stock AT&T software. Thanks for your help! I'll let you know how the warranty return works out.

[Q] Refresh?

I have a weird issue with my Echo phone.
I used FileExpert to transfer few jpeg images yesterday. The images did not show up in the gallery.
I restarted the phone and I could see the transferred photos under Gallery.
Same for music. I copied over some music (mp3 files). I went to the stock app (Music) and they did not show up. However, When I restarted the phone, the files showed up immediately.
I am wondering whether this is a regular phenomenon? Is there a way to refresh the stock gallery / music to ensure that the files reflect immediately? Or should i transfer files in a different way?
I am using Kyocera Echo, Gingerbread (2.3.4).
Any help is appreciated.
hmm, is odd, but if you go into setting and memory settings, then unmount and re-mount the sd card, and let the phone scan, then they should show up hope this helps
You need to force a media rescan after adding new media files. Both rebooting the phone and un/remounting the sd card will do it. There are also a bunch of apps on the market that will also do it.

[Q] Trying to find out how to run Android on Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2

I'm having quite a hard time finding the correct instructions. I'm trying to run Android on Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2. I did manage to run Android 2.2 from SD card, but it was very slow and sluggish. I was wondering if there's an option to run a more advanced Android version, like Ice Cream Sandwich, also from SD card as dual boot option.
Any suggestions or help out there?
Thanks in advance!

Gingerbread was the last version created for the TP2.
The experience of the SD card version relys heavly upon the sd card you run it from.
Read this thread for more SD card/OS requirements info.
Here are the basic instruction for loading a NAND version of android.
I run GB0X for my daily, and while it is not perfect I am over all happy with it.

Problem is, I'm not familiar with many of the quoted texts, which only adds to my confusion. The second link you provided is totally Chinese to me. The last link I'm not exactly sure if that is the Gingerbread you mentioned. And it also seems that it involves flashing the phone, which I didn't really want to do. I want to dual boot from SD card, so I can revert to Windows Mobile if something goes wrong...

First, if FroYo is slow what makes you think ICS will be fast? lol.
See this thread for a newer version of XDAndroid, based on Gingerbread.
That's the newest and probably the most stable version you can run from the SD card. As was stated, performance is heavily dependent on the SD card itself - and higher class != higher performance here. Operating Systems need high random read/write performance, which is not what classed cards are measuring for speed...
Regardless, NAND runs a bit better IMHO. If you still want WinMo, you'll have to deal with the slowness of running it off the SD card - although to be honest there's not a huge bottleneck by running it on the card.

As I'm still new to Android, you can't expect too much from me... I just assumed that if FroYo is sluggish, a newer version could probably be faster. But hey, maybe I'm wrong. I guess it indeed also depends on RAM, ROM, and who knows what else.
Anyway, I downloaded your latest link, copied the unzipped files to the root of my SD card (unfortunately I wasn't aware of the fact that higher classes will perform better, so I got a class 2 card last week). As per the instructions, I copied all .csv files from the \Windows directory to the same root of the SD card. I also copied the RHOD400 startup .txt file (which as I assume is the one for my HTC Touch Pro 2). When I then try to run the HARET.exe, the phone crashes and simply reboots back in WinMo...
Am I missing something?
Thanks!

the recommended cards are the lower class Sandisk ones class 2 should be good. Higher Class cards are not good for running an OS from. it is also recomended that you format the SD with the "HP Tool" http://www.eocfiles.com/bdc86eb1ed2989c30dcd1902e84939ae/bootdisks/SP27608.exe before you put GBX0C on it. I also have a sprint TP2 and have had problems with 16GB SD cards had to use an 8GB.

First, re-read my post - I said higher class != better performance - as in does NOT equal.
Also, as was previously stated - it sounds like you did everything correctly. Do you have a funky WinMo ROM? I know some ROM's 'fake' what type of device it is, and this doesn't play with HaRET well - because HaRET actually believes what WinMo is telling it... I can't remember the ROM's off hand that do this, but the jist is they try to fake as if the device is the Leo aka HD2... which it obviously is not...
The only other thing I can think of is did you reuse anything? Literally anything, from FroYo? Data.img, anything? Please don't reuse a single file. Start fresh with GBX0C, including a new startup.txt.
Thanks all! So I formatted my SD card again with the HP tool, copied back all files from the zipped folder, copied over the csv files from \Windows and tried to run HaRET again. Sadly, same story. First the progress bar comes up with "Loading Linux", but around halfway it crashes, and the phone boots up in WinMo again.
The ROM itself is stock from Sprint, I didn't change anything on that. And with FroYo I used HARET as well, and there it worked fine. Except no ringtones (!!!) and no bluetooth (!!!). The other difference is that with FroYo I did not get instructions to copy over csv files. Could that be the cause?
I definitely didn't copy over any FroYo files to this one...
Thanks!

FroYo doesn't require the CSV's.
You're not reusing any files? Nothing is being reused at all?
You have a RHOD400?
Have you tried different SD cards?

Not on the battery, under the battery on the phone itself, yes? Then yes, you have a RHOD400. Especially if it's 'Sprint' branded...
Ok, do this. First, run HaRET.exe with NO startup.txt. You can copy HaRET.exe to another location (root of SD, etc) - or rename your startup.txt to startup.bak or something. Then run HaRET.exe and tell us what you see in the box.
Next, perhaps try EVERYTHING from GBX0C except for the startup.txt. Still fails? Try the HaRET.exe and startup.txt from FRX07. Let us know.
So here's my latest update:
I tried removing the startup.txt file, crashed. Tried to run the HaRET.exe file on its own, crashed. Tried to use the startup.txt from FRX06 (which is different from the GBX0C one, I checked). Crashed.
Finally tried to use the HaRET.exe from FRX06, and now it works! Runs Android 2.3.7!
I guess for now the issue is solved. Will have to continue testing. BT and ringtones didn't work with FRX06. Should it work now?
By the way, here's a screenshot of what happened when I didn't have the startup.txt.

Thanks. Just checked bluetooth. Sadly, it doesn't work. Takes about 10-15 seconds when I check the turn on box, but then it remains off... Wondering if there's a fix for that. Ringtones are fortunately working.
But I have another issue so far. While outgoing SMS messages seem to work fine, I don't get the incoming messages. Any ideas?

Machine Type Leo - Exactly what I said earlier. Your WinMo ROM is trying to fake like you have an HD2 not a TP2... That's the whole reason HaRET.exe doesn't work. Your ROM is lying.

Text messaging should work fine. With you mixing and matching so much, and having god knows what for a WinMo ROM... who knows what's wrong. Did you boot Android with WinMo in airplane mode?

SD Data Lost

I've somehow lost all the data on my sdcard.
Device is an LG G2 D802, running stock lollipop 5.0.2
I had my phone hooked to pc and all was OK.
Then I tried accessing a folder (after being ble to) and an error popped up on windows, I can't remember what, something along the lines of "the device cannot be accesses".
I then disconnected the USB...without first clicking safely remove...so, yes, it probably is my own fault.
Please don't point this out!
How can I retreive my data. I'm more concerned about pictures and videos.
I've tried a few apps, but aren't having much success.
A lot of files don't display correctly
Any help is appreciated
Anyone got any advice?

I have a great working solution for you.
I know a computer software that can extract your images, videos and everything in its original form.
It works on windows.
You have to connect your SD card with the help of card reader.
(Scan and recover)
Below is the direct download link for the software.
fs37.filehippo.com/5406/cb2c01f67d5b4f9096af0dfd91d5e4cb/pci_filerecovery.exe
(Just copy above and paste it in your browser)
If the above process helped you or you find this helpful, just press the thumbs up button

Hi thanks.
But as my device doesn't physically have an sdcard, its a virtual card as far as in aware.
And the back of the phone doesn't come off.
When I connect to PC the phone shows as a device, not a drive

Yeah, like I say in OP, ive tried a few, but either the files arent recover or they don't show properly. They display either half the picture, or just as a big grey block
