How does sgs2 will probably cost? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do someone have any idea about the price of the sgs2 at the launch?
I do not mean preorder's price but how much will costs "in retail stores" in US or in Europe in general.
EDIT: just seen title error, sry for my bad english

Youre guess is just as good as our...
In sweden i guess it will be 800 dollar cash.
But with Tre 10 dollar/monthx18
+76 dollar/month with 5 gig data...3000 sms..Free calls to Tre customers.
And 36 of 76 dollar to call other operators and home phones.
Pretty good deal if you dont talk to people on other operators to much.
They have the best deal in sweden..If use youre phone "right"

This article says the will cost about 600 dollars, what do you think about?

600 real dollars? or foreign dollars?

Well, I think with all the prices floating around, it can be assumed that...
In India 32k INR = 725.95 USD
499 GBP = 815 USD
550 EUR = 800 USD
Average that out and 780 USD...
But YES, I do think the asking price for this device will be around 600-700 USD for the Unlocked version.

[Q] cost of customs for SGS2 from U.K. to U.S.?

Anyone knows how much do we have to pay in customs if we import a SGS2 from the U.K. on release day? I am looking at purchasing one once I get a good review of the GPS performance and want to make sure I am not surprised with any hidden cost.
unless you live in new york, you dont have to pay any. you just pay for shipping, i ordered from clove.co.uk, and there was no tax, or customs charges, only a shipping fee of 14 their money. however mobilecityonline.com is US based, and is cheaper than clove, you will pay 699, no tax, free shipping, no international hassle. the only reason i went with clove was because they will get it to me anywhere from 2-4 days faster
edit, i just noticed you wont be ordering the day they get released, then it would be faster to order from mobilecityonline, because they will receive stock from uk, which will take a few days to ship, but after that, you can order overnite delivery if you live in the US, so i suggest mobilecityonline.com

MobileCityOnline has free shipping on pre-orders. But no ETA. Yes, it's 699 but no certain date when they receive stock.
I also ordered from Clove and it's about $744 with 2-4 day shipping. I hope it'll arrive by the end of that week. Also, I think there's some currency fee charged by your card issuer. Maybe 3%?
Handtec is slightly cheaper but they've been inconsistent with stock date.

I can't directly answer that question but an email from Clove says, "Samsung offer a two year warranty on the SGS2!!"
I suppose that's regardless of where you buy the phone from. Anyone care to input?

When I ordered a phone from the U.K to Chicago, I was not billed any customs rate what so ever. Even while ordering stuff from H.K, I didnt pay any customs.

then you have to pay sales tax, thats all, idk what it is over there, but in ohio its 7%
thats if you order from mobilecityonline, if you order from clove there wont be any tax. the tax is only from mobilecityonline because theyre actually newyork based, so newyork residents have to pay =/ not sure who would be cheaper in this instance, hmm
thanks everyone
That was one of my worries, at least I can breath now
Now to see if the GPS performs good or not. The first SGS let a sour taste in my mouth.
Ok, so the sellers that can ship to the U.S. that I have so far are:
clove.co.uk (444.00 euros + 14 euros shipping = 458 euros)
mobilecity.com (699.99 dollars + 0 shipping)
handtec.co.uk (515.99 euros + 12.99 euros shipping = 528.98 euros)
expansys.com (519.99 euros + ?? shipping)
expansys-usa.com (749.99 dollars + ?? shipping)
Watch out, UK still uses pounds, not euros
So it's actually 14% more expensive (1GBP=1.14EUR)

I believe the Handtec price you listed includes VAT, which you don't have to pay if you're in the states. The last time I checked it was about 430£.

It's 8.75%.
I tried figuring out where it's cheapest, realized that I was using euros instead of pounds, and gave up.
I just had jaw surgery so I can't think much right now... lol

Is it an international warranty? From my previous experience with Samsung products (laptops, not phones), the warranty would cover the item in the locale where it was purchased, which in this case would be the U.K. no?

Clove just emailed saying if there's an issue with the device, it can always be sent back to them.
They didn't mention any other details. It sounds pretty vague so I guess I'll have to deal with either SquareTrade or Ensquared.

Guys, i want to make sure i've got it correctly: if I'm buying from UK (expansys or handtec) and ship it to USA address not in New York, in my case Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, then i wont pay any US taxes and customs, and expansys's price (which exclude EU VAT while shipping to US) + shipping costs will be my final price?
Price of phone plus shipping is what t
I paid. Shipped to Florida with nn tax.

It's called an exchange rate for a reason, £ and $ aren't the same. £519.99 is around $800. It's not cheap off that site at all.
519.99 GBP = 845.673 USD
British Pound US Dollar
1 GBP = 1.62633 USD 1 USD = 0.614883 GBP

Thanks for the reply!!
Will it work in Pakistan ? If i buy from expansys, website says SimFree does it means it will work in any country ?
I was planning to buy Incredible S, i saw the price of SGSII on expansys the difference of is approx 100 GBP between these two mobile phones, isnt it better to get SGSII rathat than IS.
I have no idea if it'll work properly in Pakistan, it'll probably call and text but I don't know if it's 3G/HSDPA internet will work. Depends on the frequencies the Pakistani networks use and if they're the same as the UK ones...I don't know the actual figures for either, sorry.
Oh and yes the S2 smashed the incredible S in pretty much every aspect.

what is the cheapest upgrade price?

AMAZON IS 150
ATT IS 99
BESTBUY IS 99
is there one for free or 1 cent ect.?
1 cent is for a new contract only. For both ATT and bestbuy you will pay sales tax on the full retail price of the phone.
Oh sure, now everybody is $99. Last month Costco was the only for $99, at least for an upgrade. New subs could get $99 on Amazon.

Good point. In the "great" state of CA we have to pay sales tax on full retail...not that it helps the state keep to their budget but I digress .

Yes we have alot of taxes. 23% is this case.
taxes and firing people is the solution found by our governator to solve the crise.
in this moment 15% of our ppl are without job and they are still incrising taxes.
Per example bread ,water , gas and other essential things have now 23%tax instead of the 5-13% they had!
Sorry for my english.
But just to tell that Greece and Portugal are diferent countrys and we are dealing with this in a very different way.
I hope both country can resolve their problems and don´t fall again in misery.

For an 800?

Dad just bought a VERY EXPENSIVE touchpad!

My father liked my touchpad he bought one for himself... for £230! Whoever sold it to him had added CM9 (thx!) and it seems to work well, but it seems to me to be a little expensive - the person who sold it has stuck on CM9 but effectively charged more for CM's work...
Can't quite believe he paid more than double what I paid for mine! Is that really the going rate?
If its a 32GB touchpad the going rate does stick around 185-230 so it isn't a million miles off.....some have looked after them very well and others (like me) are including accessories like case/touchstone/keyboard whatever so you haven't been conned, just should've searched around. But still not the worst buy i've seen
its because the demand is so good, thats why the price is that high, once it all dies down then there's nothing to stop the price going down down.
ace 9988 sorry if this is irrelevant, but your sig got me so bad i thought a little cockroach was trapped in my big monitor!!
ah good! thx for that - yes, it came with a case.

Well if this is right, 230 euros is equivalent to 356 US dollars.* If thats the case, that was way too much. My 32 gig Touchpad that came with a case was 230 US Dollars. Which is 183 Euros.*
*According to google
That is a euro sign right? lol

UK has huge taxes hike compared to things in america (not many states in america have sales tax?), and no point importing them cuz we pay import duty depending on the cost which ends up making the same price. Thats why nobody from europe in their right mind would want to sell anything across the pond.

£230?!!! OMG !!!
I bought mine for £220, and that's for a 16GB version. These things have got expensive since the fire sale but it's still a far cry from the original price of £400 something and they're better than a lot of tablets at this price point too
I got mine for about 150 for a 32 gig plus an extra 50 for the case. That is in Canadian dollars

Is it just me or people just don't understand economies outside of america?
230 pounds = 285 euros
it kinda feels like a steal
FYI, the electronics in the USA are much cheaper than in Europe, mainly because of the VAT and the import price.
If you can buy an used Touchpad 16GB for the average of $150 in the US, but in the UK you can buy one for £160 on the average.
So, OP, your Touchpad was not expensive, it's a perfect price for unopened product.
