Power Button Not "Clicking" Anymore - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm not sure if this is a common issue, but I couldn't find anything via search. Recently my power button no longer "clicks" when pressed. There is virtually no feedback at all anymore. This has made it a bit more difficult to lock and unlock. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking about trying to get an RMA since I've only had the table for a few months.

Wow! Mine has never clicked. I am running TNTL 4.4.0.
It would be nice to have that feature.

I meant physically there is no click, the button is just kind of mushy. Has anyone had good experience with Viewsonic's support when it comes to these sort of things?

[Q] SK17i: some instances of unresponsive back button - who had this?

Hi guys,
the previous days, I've been having a weird problem where sometimes, the back button would be less responsive for some time.
Since I've never experienced this before, and couldn't find relevant information on this forum about this, I thought I'd ask if anyone else has experienced it.
It took me several tries to activate the 'back' capacitative button, and in a couple of instances I just mashed the 'home' button to get out of there instead.
Now whether this was due to high processor usage or malfunctioning hardware is hard to say... BetterBatteryStats didn't show anything weird even though the previous couple days battery duration was slightly less than expected.
I didn't install any new software, just some updates of existing programs.
So, questions:
- for those who know about the hardware of cap. buttons: what could this problem be due to?
- has anyone experienced the same? If so, what did you do?
thanks
Yes I have had this same problem with it, because i gave my phone for service, whenever i got it back its working perfect.Man who was serviceing it said there was some dirt inside like metal filings so he just clean it.
hey bro check this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272663 same problem although different situations. hope it helps!

I have an unresponsive menu button. it has always been like this but I don't really mind it. a problem with the back button would be much more annoying though.

Screen possibly flaking out. Looking for advice.

My screen seems to be touching itself lately. Random phantom clicks are happening, mostly in the area just below the notification bar. It doesn't happen all the time, but I have been unable to pin a potential cause down. If the worst happens, and it goes completely nuts, what would you do? Are there reasonable options for replacement screens? Anyone know what replacement options are offered by Verizon? I have insurance.
Phone is rooted and running JellyBlur. This behavior has persisted through different ROMs, so I don't think it's software related. If I end up taking it in to Verizon, I know I have to return it to stock, and I really don't want to do that if I can avoid it. Thanks in advance for your help.
Update: It seems there's something weird going on when I use the volume keys. It causes the screen to register a press on the top center. Any idea how to go about fixing it, or is it even worth looking at? Used Galaxy Nexus phones aren't that expensive, after all.

Interesting. I have had the same problem, but it's intermittent and very rare. I discovered it when I had set the keyboard to allow volume keys to move the cursor while typing. Pressing one of the volume keys resulted in unwanted characters appearing. The same volume key press kept producing the same unwanted characters.
Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas.
I had a similar issue and ended up buying a used TBolt on ebay for $60. A replacement LCD/digitizer combo is about the same price. I went with the whole unit so I could make the transition with little downtime, but swapping the screen out of these phones is really simple.

[Q] The home button click sound

So after almost a month of use,the home button has developed a weird sharp "click" sound when pressed. Its functioning completely normal, and after searching around a bit I found similar complaints in a few threads on xda and other forums as well.
I'm not really OCD about my phone buttons, but I'm wondering if its an issue I should be concerned of in the future? Does anyone else have this problem? There are loads of complaints in various threads, but no suggestions for fixes. I was thinking of spraying some WD40 in the crack but I don't want to do anything stupid without asking for suggestions.

Home button is not very steady but the real disgrace are the volume and power buttons. Such low quality buttons should be in a 100$ phone , not S3.
Anyway , you can use Button Savior from playstore to protect your home button.
Hmm..Didn't you try just to disable S-Voice?

haha. he's talking about a hardware issue - the button makes a clicking sound when pressed, even when the phone is off
isnt' that supposed to be normal with sound that button ? just like mouse ...
Thanks for the replys guys.
@qtwrk- definitely not normal. Its just not uniform- sometimes it make a sound and sometimes it doesn't. All i can hope is that the home button does not stop working later

[Q]Volume rocker issues

I believe I'm having a hardware failure with the rocker buttons. I have to press in certain spots to get the down key to function, and I have to press near the center of the rocker to get the up key to do anything.
It's been a while since an atrix apart, but can do so if needed. Is there anything I can do to attempt to repair this issue w/o ordering new parts? I know weird fixes exist for things like wifi, but not sure about this.
I know it's a hardware problem due to the fact that it's nearly impossible for me to get into recovery, since the keys barely function at all.
Thanks.

you start out by saying "i believe", and end off with "i know". its one or the other. luckily i know of the issue, having had it myself. it is a hardware issue. replace camera flex cable or replace device.
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
Just want to post an update. I had opened the phone up, and saw where the contacts were in relation to the buttons. The contact was pushed inwards towards the camera, so the buttons were not makign contact. Fixed it by cutting thin strips of plastic and inserting them in between the contacts and the camera. Buttons work like a charm and it was a free fix

Power button not working properly

So I've exhausted my search for a fix to my problem, or anything to spell death to trying to fix it.
The power button on my M8 ACTS stuck, or like the button is depressed and over-sensitive. It is either unresponsive, or over responsive. Pressing it does nothing most of the time, however lightly running my finger across it will bring up the menu options as if I've just held it down for 5 seconds. It will also give me the pop up to press the volume up button to reboot the device.
I took it in to a repair shop and they told me it could be a software issue, or even a hardware issue. Due to the "complexity" of HTC engineering, they suggested replacing the entire board, and even then, there is no grantee that will fix the problem.
Yes, it is out of warranty. I have already upgraded my phone, but was hoping to use this as a gift to someone in need. Otherwise I might just let it collect dust or trade it in.
Is this a known issue? Is there a fix? Any suggestions? I plan on trying complete factory reset. Locking of the bootloader and everything to see if that works.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
