done that already doesnt work...ive been through 1.7.1 it was ok but still FC's 1.8.1 FC city. alot of restarts. 1.9.0 hangs up wit dell logo sometimes, freezes when data connection is turned on while restarting i have to restart 100 times....no real game play without freezing...i just wanna use this for games as well without the freezing....
I've just gone back to stock exactly because of these issues, I downloaded the QDL tool (guides and downloads here) and used this to flash 2.2 stock. It seems fine so far!
i tried the qdl tool and it puts 305 back on my streak but i cant update anyfurther past that what do u sudjest
Sure you can. Get the download for the 309 or 318 update package and load it on your streak's sd card named update.pkg then go into recovery and manually flash it.

What happens when you hold both volume buttons down and power on the device while keeping the volume buttons held down? anything different than normal booting up? You can download the recovery files in the wiki and try manually flashing the recovery then manually flashing one of the stock roms.
If you used QDL to get to 305 you should be able to use the url for 318 to just download and install it:
http://mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GAUSB1A121100
Use that url in your android browser and go through the update. It will download build 318 which is the latest OTA update released from Dell for unlocked baseband (which if you used QDL you are now on)

the only other time ive had to flash a recovery was the first time i got my phone and the instructions stated to use the following command
Code:
fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
so do i do it the same way? do i need to specify where in memory or can i take that part out?

Hello,
I bought a dell streak from ebay yesterday running Streakdroid 1.61. Everything was working well when i received it, but I couldn't get access to market because the orignal owner's gmail account was linked to the device. I registered my gmail but it was still not giving me access. I decided to remove his account and the phone prompted that some apps were linked to it so i needed to factory reset.
Since then after flashing Streakdroid1.61 it showed unser clockworkmod recovery menu: E: CAN'T FIND MISC.
After searching I flashed Streakmod Recovery but no matter how many reflashes and reboots and resets phone gets into a continuous booting loop after getting to android logo screen. I feel like trying my hair out. Haven't been able touse my new phone and I have read and tried lots of solutions from here and modaco forum but no joy.
Please help me somebody.

Why don't you start off with the QDL Tool and get to 2.2 v305, from there flash streakmod recovery, boot up, download 1.61 or what ever Rom you want. Then reboot and install from zip on SD card. that way you get it from scratch and not have to worry what the other user did to it.

Use the StreakMod recovery instead of clockwork. It's modified to work with the Streak.

I was installing custom roms back in the xda 2 days but eventually moved over to iphone and now im swtiching to android. (I love the new site by the way!)I have an (o2) streak arriving tomorrow and would like to get the best out of my device.
I have tried my best to do my research over the past few days before making my first post and now I have some questions if I may...
To flash a rom I need to:
1. Install fastboot
2. Root device using androot or superboot
3. Install clockworkmod recovery
4. Download rom and flash to device
If my device comes with 1.6 I need to update to 2.1 first.
Roms...
The ROMs I have come across so far:
- O2 2.2
- Custom Streakdroid by Djsteve http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=15&did=26
All others that I have seen seem to be in alpha.
So am I right in thinking that streakdroid is the most advanced but stable rom so far?
Is there any backup tools / failsafes that I can use before starting all this?
Do I need to worry about baseband? Do I follow this?...
"IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO UPDATE TO THE BELOW BASEBAND FOR 1.5.1+"
If somebody let me know if I've understood the above correctly and if I'm ok to proceed with flashing tomorrow?

I carried out all previous steps and now this is what I've done:
1. copied update-1.6.1.zip to the root of sd card. It said I needed to copy a .pkg but the streakdroid package comes in a zip so i copied that on instead.
2. Installed the recovery image
3. Booted into recovery menu and selected update via update.pkg on sd card.
Now the streak has the Dell logo with an ! exclamation mark and it's just sitting there. Have I done it correctly? It says it takes 10 minutes but I'm a bit worried because there is no progress meter there.
Some one please let me know if I've done the right thing as I'm too scared to touch it now in case I brick it!

Ok i figured i had to press the power button to get the menu but now i cant get the menu back! Every time I select the option it tales me to: android system recovery utility
When I try to do a recovery it says verification failed...any pointers?
It depends on what you have done so far. You are best starting with the latest official update for your phone using system update, then installing the fastboot drivers on your pc, installing new recovery, either streakmod or clockworkmod and then installing djsteves over that if you want a custom rom.

Thanks for the reply. I flashed the recovery again and it allowed me into the advanced menu again which enabled me to flash. It's all working now but I have just noitved 1 thing....

Ok So My Streak is Bricked...yup...
The problem was it was boot looping with the StreakDroid 2.0 Rom
and so i tried to install SimpleStreak With Clockwork and Now Stuck at Boot Logo

I would suggest you try to boot into fastboot and flash stock recovery and then flash stock 351 ROM.... AFTER it boots up then go back to fastboot and flash streakmod recovery and immediately boot into streakmod recovery.... instead of using StreakDroid 2 I would suggest you run 1.9.1 for better stability... once you flash it boot into recovery and do a FACTORY reset... not the one in Streakmod and then let it boot

Alright So I Believe I Made Progress to a Road Block
I Ended Up Just Installing Streak Droid 1.9.1
And the phone will go ahead and start up ,Sometimes, ( Otherwise it Just BootLoops, ) and work then if you
Play a game or something it freezes
Okay whatever so I was gunna try and flash StreakMod Recovery
And I managed to get the Phone in Fastboot Mode
But I tried flashing StreakMod Recovery and it Hung at Sending Recovery for a long time
So I just closed it because it wasn't doing anything
okay So I Tried restarting it and I'd get a Failed Unkown Error something like that
Idk what to do anymore I keep getting this boot loop and freezing when I get
In the phone,,, is there any solution for this maybe go all back to Stock and Start from Scratch?

2 days before i flashed the dell streak rom by mistake...after that i'm not able to do a recovery...
when i boot the phone it shows the dell logo...but after a few seconds it disappears and am not able to see what is going on...
when i try to enter fastboot mode...i dont get the fastboot screen at all...i cant see what ever happens on my screen...if i have to know if i am in fastboot mode i have to use commands
i dont even know when i have entered recovery even though i flashed the required items to be flashed i.e., boot recovery system
i am not able to see anything on my phone....
can u guys help me out of this or should i take my phone to the dell service center to get it rectified...

Yes it is 2.2.2...apparently they are releasing official GB for venue next month...will have to try that also soon...and also new phones

u can flash...it worked for me...the steps i followed are:-
1) flash 408 recovery.img
2) update using update.pkg

try to remove the battery for few minutes then start the phone in recovery mode(flash ur desired rom through it) if recovery mode is not coming then again try to pull out the battery the start the fastboot mode( flash stock recovery and place update.pkg in sd card) and if both r not coming go to dell service center.

yes u need flash the 408 recovery first and then upgrade to 408...instead of that y dont u try flashing cm7 or miui its better

My dell streak gets stuck on dell logo and then reboots again and again. it was not rooted and was working fine on froyo 2.2 O2.
Ive tried installing the update package from recovery mode by selecting install update.pkg from sd card but i get an error saying e:can't mount update.pkg.
After searching i performed an memory test from fastboot; Sd card test passes but the internal memory test fails and gives an error: Cmd/Data test fail. a few days back my computer had a trojan virus and it was converting the folder into shortcuts. I dont know for sure but i think it could have been the cause of this problem as i plug my phone to the pc almost everyday
ill be glad if someone can help me through this. plz can some1 help me through this.plz i really need my dell streak working ill appreciate any kind of help... Thank you

The trojan you are talking most surely affect only the SDcard, a friend of mine had the same issue on a different device.
I would recommend installing a custom Recovery like Streakmod, flash 366 bb and a ROM like DSC, Longhorn or LXdroid, as those mentioned have the universal kernel that don't check the BaseBand.
Totally wiping everything is a must!
Flashing recovery can be done easely using the MultiFlashing tool provided in the Android Development section, so all this mess wouldn't take more than 1 hour (with reading and wandering if it's safe - it is safe, ia assure you )

Well, i will update the first post of my LXdroid ROM with a tutorial, if you want a fully funtional with the least amounts of bugs i will recommend DSC ROM.
But this is not required if you want to keep the original 2.2 firmware, as almost all the custom ROM's that i've talked about are 2.3.x.
the tutorial will be written, Your choice

im trying to install the 02 rom... ive copied the update pkg and renamed it to update.zip... then i turn on into the fastboot mode and install the recovery.img the phone says install recovery done.. then i restart it and go to the option update from update pkg but then i get the same error e cant mount update pkg e cant mount gif etc

i think you need to replace the internal sd....

once you have done that... just do the dell factory reset (white text black background menu)...
your phone should be able to start again

As far as i know, you can't possibly install update.pkg using custom recovery, you must install a stock recovery and after that you can flash the update.pkg as it is (update.pkg), changing the extension does nothing

I installed the stockmod recovery and then copied the dsc 1.0 rom on sd and installed the zip from the recovery mode... installation was successful but after restart it gets stuck on the logo and restarts again and again... after the installation was complete when i press the back button i gives the error e cant mount innersdp01 or some thing like that... id love not to replace the innerSD until it is the last option... thnkyou for being so helpfull

you just need to change to anything 8gb and below for the internal sd... and dell factory reset should do the trick...

Thankyou all, Especially deysmacro and Lexzmaster for your help it got fixed by replacing the inner sd after the teardown... nnow im running on DSC 1.0 but ti takes a lot longer to boot and lights keep flashing too... thankyou again

i am glad it is working again... :victory:
light keeps flashing mean your baseband is not matched with the current rom... you should do the upgrade... it is in dsc thread if you read it carefully... it should say something like flashme ... :good:
you may try other rom as well.. if you are interested.. such as longhorn, ics, lxdroid

we here dont have the best rom.. all rom usage is really based on preference.. you try this rom and you like it.. well.. that shoul do it
i personally like dsc .72 the best,with 406 bb.
but im waiting for an ics with good data and wifi tether.....and ill be on it

how to replaced internal sd? not the sd card at the back of battery holder. please advise i also experiencing that kind of problem, sometimes it is working good but there's a time that it freezing then once i removed the battery then put it back on it keeps on rebooting. i already update with 2.3.3

Search the forum as there should be an article covering the process. In short, you either have to take the Streak apart, or cut away some of the plastic above the SIM card slot to get to the internal MicroSD.
