[Q] Facebook 1.5.3 FC - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
i just upgraded to nightly #41 and everything seems to be working fine. The Facebook-App works as usual. But after updating it to 1.5.3 i get fc no matter what i try to do. Downgraded to 1.5.2 and everything works fine again. Anyone else with the same problem?

Maybe this wouldn't solve your problem, but I've read in some topics that you shouldn't have Facebook installed on your SDCARD. If you do, you can run in some "strange" issues. If this is the case, reinstall Facebook on the internal memory.

Thanks for advise, but it didn't help. I just reinstalled facebook 1.5.2 an everythings works fine, even if the app is stored my sd. Maybe the next update will solve the problem.

Same problem here running cm7 #39. Reverted back to 1.5.2, works ok now.

same for me, FCs on profile and messages. stupid update

Update: I've just tested the Facebook update with BlaY0's B 0.8.4 Rom. Everything works fine. Returned to cm7 and guess what...FC...stupid update +1

Weird.
Fresh Nightly 41 CM7 install, wiped everything. Installed Facebook 1.5.3. No problem.
Installed on internal memory.

Will test it, when i am at home.
I will write my results then...
greetings

HI ,
I am facing the exact same problem on my desire Z with CM7. Can you please let me know as to how did you downgrade it to 1.5.2....

Download Facebook 1.5.2 from this link and place somewhere on your phone's SD card
Unistall the current facebook app from your phone
Using a file manager app, navigate to the facebook apk file on your SD card and click on it. This will install facebook v1.5.2.
Go to the android market -> my apps -> facebook for android and make sure that automatic updating is not ticked.
done!

Thanks.. works fine now

I modified the CM7 gapps file with some of the available fixes for those running Honeycomb on their Nook Colors.

- Pushes the Cicada's wpa_supplicant fix that allows AdHoc Wifi support

-Fixed FC Gallery.
Download: Latest copy: V003. http://www.mediafire.com/?mgo39i53n164x9z
- Changes: Reinstalls both Gmail and Google Maps 4.5.1
-Bugs: Unable to update to Maps 5.1. It installs, but FCs when opened.

Thanks a million for this one, I have my r/w permissions back in Root Explorer!! As I'm still a noob at all this I haven't been able to get adb working so this is a huge help with the HC build.
Thanks again!!
P.S. This also completely removed my gmaps as one other comment mentioned. I haven't checked to see if I can find it on the market however. As far as I'm concerned it's worth the trade though!!

In my post above I hadn't really spent much time with the nook after installing your file and wanted to report that it also removed gmail and borked the market. I tried to clear the cache, etc. with no luck so I just wiped the nook and went back to a clean install of the hc emmc v4.
Would you be able to put a version of this up that just has the scripts for the root access and the adhoc wifi? It would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks again.
Is anyone able to get Google Maps to locate via Wifi using these files?

Does this fix gmail too?
Edit: Yup, gmail still broken from v1 and maps just FCs as well. If you flashed the first file you will have to wipe and start over.
TY
This is really great news! Thanks for the hard work. I used your gallery apk a few days ago. Fantastic!

Confirmed. I tried to download a copy from market and it just FCs. Sorry about that. I was able to get gmail working by pushing a back up copy of the gmail.apk into my /system/app folder. I try to work on a fix tonight.
Not sure all the permissions are 100% correct, but if you put all the files in a single location, this is the script I've been using to install them on SDCard based installs of Honeycomb v4.
EDIT: Removed script, new one is on Page 3.
so i already had maps installed and it doesn't work now. honestly don't know if it worked before. LOL. i didn't install it myself, so i never fired it up. anyway, tested it out and i get the following FC:
(process com.google.android.apps.maps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

any ideas?
My google search on the top right seems to be missing now.
edit: never mind i switched from landscape to portrait and it's there now but does not function
The wpa_supplicant file was causing an error for me. My wifi wouldn't turn on at all.
I deleted it and repushed it and it worked.

This worked great. The script ran with no errors or other problems. Gmail, talk and gallery all look good, but Maps is nowhere to be found, either on the Nook or in the market.
Any idea how I can pick it up? There's no maps APK that I can see anywhere on the device.
Like this, and appreciate the work, but out of my greedyness I shall ask for more; any chance that a modified build.prop or fix for not seeing apps (angrybirds, xplane, etc) could be included in an update?

[Q] New market issue.

I am running Wolfbreaks V009 rom with Goros 3.62 kernel, clean install. When I download any app on market it freezes at installing. If I go to application management and clear data and hit uninstall updates it seems to install apps fine the rest of the day. Wake up the next morning and have to do it all over again.
Search didn't return anything useful, does anybody have any insight or experience with this particular problem?
Thanks!
try un-mounting your SD card and installing apps then re-mount. Solved the problem with apps stuck on 'installing' for me....
Thanks for the help, didn't do the trick though. Correct me it I'm wrong but I should just be able to swap the vending.apk out with the old market and set permissions??
Gonna give that a go and see if it fixes the issue!

[Q] Camera problem with TW Gingerbread 2.3.3 V3 with hotfix V3.1

Exactly what do you mean by "using no media app"? I'm having the same issue with my x10
has anyone installed vignette or any other good camera app which is as good as vignette which is working properly with this ROM ? whenever i try to open vignette, it FC`s and then not even the stock camera works. only after reboot does the stock camera come back to life. i tried fixing permissions but that didnt help. re-flashed and still no luck. any ideas ?
thanks
ok, i think i have found the reason for that. the circle battery mod is probably the one causing the problems. i didnt flash the apk and now both cameras work perfectly without any issues.

[Q] Trouble with Playstore - need help

hi there,
I am from Germany and since yesterday i am not able anymore to download any free app except the google ones.
That means, that i can download, google earth, google translator and so on but as soon as I try to download any other app i get this message in german: "Ihr Konto kann momentan nicht bestÃĪtigt werden. Bitte versuchen Sie es in einigen Minuten wieder." in english it should be: "At the moment we can not confirm your account. Please try again in a few minutes"
Does anybody else have the some problem? I am on android since the beginning and I have never had such a message? I already cleared the cache and the data of both google playstore and the download manager. I can use and receive my googlemails and I can also use and talk over google talk.
any help?
Yes, don't worry, I am pretty sure it is a Google problem. I had that problem yesterday and thought I had resolved the issue as after some messing around with CSCs and defrosting certain apps I had frozen, I was able to download again...
But this morning, the problem is back.
I suggest you just sit tight and wait for Google to sort the issue out

ok, but it is strange that this problem does not occur on the google apps
The problem is actually a little bit different from the one you have described... for me at least.
I am able to install any app (Google or otherwise) that I have previously installed on any previous device. The problem only occurs if I try and install an app which I have never installed before.
The problem like I said above corrected itself for a while yesterday evening, but it is back now. To test, I have:
1/ Factory reset on the new JB build - still problem
2/ Fully wiped and reflashed via ODIN - still problem
3/ Gone back to ICS - still problem
4/ Restored previous backup of ICS which I know to be perfectly ok - still problem
So, I am pretty convinced that the issue is with Google. I hope this helps put your mind at rest.

found the solution:
1. delete your google account
2. Clear Cache & Data of playstore in the app manager
3. uninstall last updates of playstore in app manager
4. activate/create your existing account again
5. Finish
that worked for me.

[Q] LwW Rooting Issues

I have successfully rooted my Sony Xperia LwW (ICS 4.0.4 fw 4.1.B.0.587) using the DoomLord method. Everything is great. I can remove some stock Bloatware or apps that i don't use (using Root Explorer) & i did remove quite some apks. Although i had paid heed to some good advise to store the junk & not delete it. Hence i was moving the apks from /system/app/ to my sd card just to be safe.
The issues arised a little later.
1) My calendar widget that was showing Facebook synced Birthdays is now left completely Blank. I did try googling the issue but no solution. I correctly remember not having touched the FB Calendar sync apk. i also tried to check Xperia FB integration which is ON in performance assistant (ICS 4.0.4 fw 4.1.B.0.587) but still the issue remains.
2) The WALKMAN app lost all the library i.e. my Music. I had it updated in a while but it only updated from the Music folder on the SD card & not the Bluetooth & Downloads folder. i'm still clueless.
3) The Performance Assistant App that handles the FB Integration Force Closes on me.
There might be more issues but i'll post them as i find them during my use. My phone is in a working condition alongwith the issues. I hope Rooting is not a SIN. But there just might be some speed bumps on the way. So please assist me in any way you can. :good:
FYI: I'm a 90-95 % NooB so please be a little elaborative in your suggestions (if any on my problem). I'll update every info from my side.
Thanks. Peace Out.
i think you remove some part of them
try re-flash your firmware and root again , and be careful if you want to remove system application ,
ora maybe you can write down here every app that you've deleted , so we know whether they're important or not

Looking at your screenshots that isn't what you've done if you've just moved the apks, if you not uninstalled or froze then you've left a lot of stuff on your Phone, so best advise is to reflash the ROM, root, install Titanium Backup or similar and freeze the apps, although tbh I would just uninstall all those in your screenshots.
Thanks for the Heads up !!

Thanks for the heads up. I installed an app yesterday called NoBloat Free from the play store. The reviews were good so i gave it a shot. Interestingly in the list of System Apps in NoBloat i did not find the apps i moved. So i believe the apps are indeed out of question.
Another thing i tried regarding my Library issue was to format my sd card (read it on Sony's Forum) and then copy all the content back to my phone. The thing worked but the media gallery backfired. My screenshots that i posted above are no more in my gallery. But when i viewed it from Astro File manager, they were there.
Could my sd card be a villain for all my problems ?
I guess performance assistance app has a connection with AppEnabler.apk
try this...

I believe it is just a change of name. When the OS is running the app is listed in the menu as performance assistance while in the /system/app it is called app enabler. Well that is from sony guys to help pace up the phone. So it is of little concern to me.

Here's the rooting link. Followed it point to point & successfully rooted:
Xperia 2011 Rooting Guide
Great actually but sometimes i think i messed up my phone.
Another weird thing happening is that my Wi-Fi when enabled on my phone does not connect to my router (although it has saved my router SSID & password). i have to go to airplane mod then disable airplane mode & then the Wi-Fi connects to the router. ANY INSIGHTS ?
Calendar Restored !!!
The app enabler didn't help... right !! So i went to Settings > Xperia > Facebook integration & kicked started the Calendar sync & VOILA its on track. So 1 problem less.
