Another(Really WORKING) battery life hack - temp fix bug in all ROMs - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Development

After a lot of playing with T-Mobile US HD2 WP7 i found one interesting thing:
If i start camera with green button and then switch to video mode there, wait for autofocus and after that just simple go out to main screen by pressing windows(middle) or back button then standby Battery Current drops to -5-6 ma from regular -40-42 ma(minus means discharge). (Switching to video is important - if not switched no results found)
It stays -5-6 ma on standby until next reboot. If i reboot and don't do this camera play current is -40-42 ma. But if i start camera -> switch to video -> out - Battery Current -5-6 ma. To measure use Battery Tool.
After hack/trick applied I used phone in different ways - talk internet email - standby still low 5-6 ma. I gave it 12 hours try - lost only about 12-13 % of charge. Checked battery outside of phone with load - real lose of charge was about same as Battery tool shows. Will continue to test longer but can expect at least few days with some usage of phone. Did the same trick with my friend's phone - same results. It looks like really a bug some where.
This problem really exist and found in all ROMs.(a little difference between TMOUS and EU HD2)
Aug 30, 2011
FOR this trick to work on any ROM versions(including all Mangos) software WP7 radio must be lower then 5.62, so only from 5.51 to 5.61 works. Recommend to use 5.51 or 5.51T soft radio and trick will work all the time.
History Update:
As of Apr 29, 2011: Confirmed to work for most people. This has to be done ONCE ONLY if you reboot phone.
Confirmed one phone has low standby current 3-7 ma after reboot without this hack - but model of phone is ORIGINAL HD2, not T-Mobile US. ROM is HD2O 1.04.
One T-mobile US shows low standby at bootup. XBmod 1.04.
If your phone shows 3-9 ma standby after reboot without this trick - then this not for you. Your phone has good standby already.
Real battery life vary from about 4 hours(continues usage of cell data and browsing) to 4-5 full days (standby only no usage at all-just few short calls, location on, data on, bluetooth on, xbox off, wifi off).

Update:
Tested HD2O 1.12 nodo - trick works perfectly right away getting 3-5ma!!! After a day of use(not much use) - battery life is amazing!!!
Tested original NODO(YukiXDA) one more time(total two times flashed this rom to be sure) - couldn't get stable low standby - unpredictable, most of the time 40-42ma sometimes even higher. Tried so many times. I don't know why results are not so good. Update: Yuki original ROM used different WP7 Radio - 5.66 - which is not working with trick on TMOUS HD2. For trick to work TMOUS must have 5.51 or 5.51T Radio.
May 18
Tested XBmod 1.10 nodo - trick works perfectly right away getting 3-5ma!!!
June 02
Continue using of HD2O 1.12 - battery life is amazing!!!(T-Mobile US HD2) Didn't have any single stability problem for 2 weeks!!! Speaker volume can be adjusted with registry hack.
Jun 07
Update: Yuki original ROM used different WP7 Radio - 5.66 - which is not working with trick on Eu and TMOUS HD2. For trick to work for 100% in 2G and 3G, ALL HD2 must have 5.51(original DFT) or 5.51T(from Ansar) Radio(part00.bin).
From my experiments 5.51T looks a little better than 5.51 overall(not sure 100%). There is no any benefit for me of use 5.66 Radio. Just use any WP7 ROM(even Yuki's ones) and replace part00.bin for trick to work. It was TESTED on all Yuki's ROMs.
Jun 08
Yuki's v3 final works exactly the same for standby current - radio 5.66 in ROM trick doesn't work, if replaced with 5.51T - trick works as usual 3-9 ma in all modes
Jun 09
Tested HD20 1.14. Much better than Yuki's for me(TMOUS) - more stable, feels solid no stability problems at all. For the first time HD2O changed Radio to 5.66, so i had to change part00.bin back with 5.51T to have good standby - 3-7 ma in any mode 2G or 3G with the trick. HD2O 1.14 is the best ROM overall again! Overall best and battery life is amazing after radio changing!!!
Jun 17
YukiXDa made the best ROM now with V4 lang2. I have never had so good battery life before!!! I have used 5.51T(TMOUS) with trick.
Excellent work Yuki!!!
Jun 29
Yuki made even better - V5. I am able now to get to some registry enrties i need!!! Enerything is perfect for me, except too many shortcuts to all setup settings.

Hello
Yes you are right.I´ve tried it out like same way and in that second i noticed that my Proximity sensor turn on.
I mean ive set my backlight to auto, but no proximity funktion. But when i turn on my camera bla bla then the proximity sensor turns on to function and my Backlight turns brightness automaticly, like ive set it before.
Thanks for sharing this info bro.

where are u seeing if the drain is 5-6 ma or 40-42 ma?

In Battery tool - Battery Current. Start Battery tool leave it on screen send phone to sleep. Wait a 2-3 minutes or so then wake it up slide to unlock and wait 10 sec with tool on screen - it will show current when it was on sleep/standby. if you were quick enough. Do it several times you will see it. I did this tests periodicaly last month with different roms - aprox same 40-43 ma with radio and data on(radio off gives 2-3 ma and phone lives forever). I have verified battery tool is correct or not by connecting once real multimeter between battery and phone. tool is correct. If divide 1230ma(battery) by 40-43 can get at best 30 hours of standby.
May be need to wait more than 2 minutes to get real sleep/standby - it depends on previous state. After few tries you will see. Stable average of lowest figures after few tries is your standby current.

intresting....just testing now........
well bugger me sideways, it works! nice one mate

Interesting finding man! But i wished i had my HD2... Still a weird bug but promising..lol

Where can I find the battery Tool? It's not in the market.
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

Here you can find. It is XAP and need side loading
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933751&page=9

Dont know for sure what it does.. but semms to solve my problem testing since 6 hrs.. still gonna test it for some more time .. lets see..

Looks like when camera closes from video mode it stops one or more of the running in background process which take some drain all the time. Probably that process should not be running at the begining. Develovers like DFT or Cotulla may be should look at it closer. Big thanks to them for hard work.

I feel like this may be finally the solution to our battery drain issue. Since I noticed that at first, when I install new rom to my HD2 the battery life is fine, but when I take a first picture with camera (or simply restart the device aswell) the battery starts draining itself. But maybe that's just me, anyways I'm gonna try this and if it works I will report back, thanks to the OP

Running already 2 full days with data on, bluetooth on, location on. Still have 30% left - real 30% verified battery out of phone. Used internet, mail, talk - all of them not too much - normal way as i need. Before this trick phone couldn't survive 24 hours.
Forgot to tell checking all the time Battery and current status take enought energy too.

Damn! This just hasn't worked for me! I'll try again, but after trying this trick my battery seemed to drain faster
I normally have it charged when I get up in the morning & have to do another full charge 2/3 of the day through. After trying this trick I had to do 2 full charges yesterday!!!
I'm going to try again as I said, but this could be due to the reg hack that doesn't kill apps, I applied.

I want to add to this post about my experience with Battery tool. It is accurate at least with ROM i have. Charge level, current and voltage. And WP7 charges battery to full. plus minus 5-10 percent(this low margin doesn't make any sence). I have verified it by discharging battery out of phone with known current. Did several times. So battery was charged to good approx 1200 ma in phone to green light in WP7. As i said at least with ROM i am using. Didn't try this with others.

That doesn't work for me neither, it drtains the battery faster than usual....perhaps it is my rom....

Try to measure stanby current as explained above. It shouldn't do anything worse - you just start and stop video camera. Unless really something wrong with ROM.

Strange, it seems to be working fine today! Thanks for the tip! I didn't do anything different, but it's working!

Hell yeah! It actually works, now I'm getting 2-4 mAh, instead of the regular 40-60. For everyone who says it doesn't, try to do the trick, put your phone to sleep, wait for like 10 minutes, wake it up and start Battery Tool again, it should show much better values then. Thanks again. Spread the word!

This definatley works for me ..brilliant find thanks

thank you very much - work for me. after all the battery threads that sounds good but have no effect for my phone.
thank you!

Battery life problem related to Radio Rom 1.16?

Good morning!
Over the last week, the battery life on my JASJAM has become totally miserable. I'm just barely getting over the 12-hour mark most days, and this is with very little use, mostly just receiving emails on my desk while I'm sitting at work. The only programs running are ActiveSync and Outlook, as I use Microsoft Direct-Push with my company's Exchange server. I am always connected to 3G in New York City.
Now, this might be due to the usual crappy Cingular 3G issues in New York City. Before this ROM upgrade, in some parts of the city, my phone would constantly turn on as the network was creating some wacky reactions with the phone. Since going to the Cingular-inspired radio ROM, the screen stays off but I have no idea what's going on behind the scenes.
Anyway, do you think my battery problems are ROM related, network related or something else? BTW, I've tried two different batteries and they've both had similar run-down characteristics.
Thanks!
Mine was last loaded 3 days ago and has more than 60% left.
But i've used the phone just some times and only 4 or 45 phone calls.
And NO UMTS!
Greetz
sphings
This is a problem that I have talked about before on other forums. Using 3G on the tytn will shorten your battery life about half compared to using edge. I dont use my tytn for much (a few calls, msn for chatting and email and some browsing) and I can't get more than 10 hours on a charge. When I change it to edge I can get over 24 hours.
Hollywood...
Believe me, I feel your pain. I'm using an extended 1500mah battery right now (which doesn't quite fit perfectly but close enough) and I think it should be good for about 17 hours according to the current calculation with UMTS always connected. That's enough to get me through 1 day, but it's pushing it. Do you think the next HTC rom might show improvements in battery life?
Thanks
hey CNJYC, slightly OT but did you get the Seidio battery or the one from Lionbattery.com?
Sleuth255...
I have the Mugen 1500mah version from Lionbattery.com. It is every so slightly thick which causes the battery cover to bow out maybe a millimeter or two in the middle, really not much at all. I will not go with anything larger that requires a new battery cover, as this defeats the purpose of such a nice, small device. Instead, I carry a spare or two when I'm traveling. Do you know anything about the Seidio battery?
Yeah, it has the same problem. I have a Seidio. I was wondering if the Lion battery fit a bit better.
Got it...thanks
@CJNYC and Sleuth255,
Compare to standard battery, how much more (hours or minutes) do you get from the extended battery?
Maybe 2 hours on 3G
After ur post and continious using of 1.16 radio on mu HTC TyTN for a week now i also feeling that the radio seems drain battry fast....the situation is that i generelly receive/made 10-15 call a day of total 1 hour or so duration....30-40 min of game play and may be more less 10-20 min of chatting and browsing in my tytn and i can get upto 2 days easily with 20-30 % of battry life left in gsm 900 mode ooo and always pushmail activated and of avarage 8-10 e-mail receiving and sending...
but after 1.16 radio i thnk i can go upto 1.5 days with same battry left and the senerio is the same regerding my usage pattern....and most of all before that the battry used to discharged 10% overnight at maximum when i was sleeping with 2-3 mail receiving through pushmail and of course no other use...but now it seems im loosing 20% on same time period...
i think i need to do some more testing regarding this battry life probs...any other feedback is really wanted...
thanks
Sajib...
Thanks for your posting. The 25% reduction since going to the 1.16 ROM that you reported is basically exactly the reduction I'm seeing here on 3G in NYC. Everything else about the ROM is better, especially how it handles weak signals and not forcing the screen on, but if I can't get a full day out of it I will probably downgrade. I'm just holding out for a new HTC ROM, but I'm not sure I can wait any longer.
Any other experiences with the 1.16 Radio ROM?
Thanks!
I have some problem... Dunno is because of 1.16 Radio ROM or my application. But i did Hard Reset & Install bk the Application that i use previously. The problem still same...
Let say i didn't touch my phone (Button) for about 30min and more. The phone will like go to Searching Mode.....wat i did is turn to FLIGHT MODE, then OFF the FLIGHT MODE. Then the phone only will get the service provider. After that it's ok. ...
Anyone encouter this problem b4?

Battery Issue with DCD 3.01

Ok heres my problem. After the phone reaches full charge, i would unplug it and within a minute it would drop to 96%. And from there on its downhill. I probably get 2-3 hours from a full charge. I have actually been having this problem from the 2.3.2 rom. Could this be a battery problem? or Software?
Forgot to put email notifaction
My wife and I have both noticed poorer battery performance since upgrading our Moguls' ROMs. Like you, we first tried dcd's 2.3.2, and now we're using 3.0.0.
I dunno, I'm finding mine has BETTER battery life now than it did with... whatever the last 2.x was I was using.
My battery actually seems like it lasts longer. Check that you don't have bluetooth or WiFi on and IR. You are letting your phone go on standby right? Another thing to check is your screen brightness.
hmm thats weird. bt wifi and ir are all off. im goin to turn down the brightness and see if that helps at all.
My battery life seems better, i wish i would have actually tested it. Oops. I'm using a rom from DCD's 3.0.1 kitchen.
Possible Solution...
Hey Guys,
I just upgraded to DCD 3.0.1 & also noticed the battery drainage problem. I wanted to see if the battery saver tweaks have been implemented on this new rom & sure enough they have not. I have been using the tweaks all day today & and only shows 15 percent decrease (10 hours of use so far). I also turned off GPS by way of settings-personal-phone-services-location setting-911 only. Turn it on when I needed it.
Here are the Reg tweaks:

I just flashed DCDs 3.0.1 and tried to change the Reg as you spelled out so well above.
The D values are already 0. He must have changed his ROM.

its been that way for months..
My battery is definitely draining faster then normal, and with nothing turned on. However, I have experienced this once before, it was so bad 30 minutes of talking on the phone would completely drain the battery. I was about to give up and assume the battery was toast, when I tried a hard reset. After that, life was back to normal, so I can only assume there was some app going crazy and eating up CPU so bad it killed the power.
I'm going to try a reset here myself, hopefully that will kill the problem.
-toonces
it should be noted some moguls come with 1000mAh while others with 1500mAh. check what battery type you have, maybe thats why its draining faster. there was talk on ppcgeeks about an 1800mAh battery for sale, but i dont know much about it.
Ditto the battery problems, had consumed 30% of battery in 4 hrs this morning after showing the GPS feature to co-workers.
I'll reset and try settings-personal-phone-services-location setting-off to disable GPS.
Are there reports of accellerated battery consumption with the Sprint ROM?
Well, it's been a little over 48 hours now since I moved from 2.3.2 to 3.0.1 and I have to say I'm pleased with the battery life. It goes down to about 70% after a 16 hour day. And I have not even considered having to soft reset yet... still running off the original reset after flashing the phone.
I think we have a winner here.
Reg Tweaks & Advance Config 2.0
Sorry guys,
I dont know why, but when I loaded up Advance Config 2.0 somehow it showed those reg settings (power management) as enables? I should have checked with my Registry editor. Either way, my phone battery life is back to normal.
Great job DCD!
I am having the same battery problems. One thing I'm wondering if it's how it's reporting the battery level that's the problem because my phone indicates that it fully charges abnormally fast as well as drains fast.
running dcd 3.0.0. I guess I'll try a hard-reset as others suggested.
I went with Keys' kitchen that's based of 6.0 and Sprint's latest release and my battery seems to be much better now. I don't know if it's the way it's being reported with the incremental dll or something in 6.1 that's doing it but i'm not down to 70% after 2 hours of doing nothing with the phone now.
After some playing around I believe it to be the GPS. If I turn the GPS on, I can practically watch the power bar tick down. If I exit google maps, it still seems to keep sliding down the scale.
However, if I reset my phone (not just exit the program) after using google maps, and go back to normal use without using any programs to initalize the GPS, the battery life is what I was used to.
If anyone else is seeing this, try going a day without even activating the gps, and see if you can notice a difference.
A thought on the GPS and battery life:
I have not seen any of the issues related by others with the GPS. However, I am using a nav program called Odyssey Mobile (it came with my Holux GPSlim 236 BT unit that I originally bought for my 6700). With this program, it starts the GPS just like it should with no reason to jump start it, and shuts it down when I exit the program. (Plus, it allows me to keep my maps on the microSD card... I do not want to have to rely on a data connection to get maps a la Google Maps or MS Live Search).
Not a plug for Odyssey, but instead more an observation that maybe progs like Google Maps are not shutting the GPS down like they should when exited. Odyssey has an actual "exit program" button instead of relying on the "X" to close it in the normal WM style (actually you can't even see the WM6 interface at all when Odyssey is running) and using the exit function completely closes it. I suspect that maybe Google Maps isn't really closing for you guys and that's why a soft reset fixes your GPS.
Again, just a thought.
I'm closing in on 72 hours since I installed DCD 3.0.1 and still only going down to 70% battery by the end of the day... plus I STILL have not had to soft reset (it's becoming an obsession to see how long I can go without resetting!) and the phone is still as snappy as it was immediately following the flash. Not one single problem... the 3.35 radio/3.0.1 ROM is easily the most stable combination I have used. No ifs, ands, or buts.
batterry life
Hi guys,
i posted the same issue under this same section but different thread about my battery not lasting more than 12-15 hours after jumping to DCD 3.0.1 whereas with Sprint official (using the same programs and usage) i will usually get 35+ hours, even two full days depending of usage. so guest what i changed the power battery tweaks:
Battery Improvement Registry Tweaks
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms
Default value type and value are
DisablePowerManagement=dword:0
Change to
DisablePowerManagement=dword:1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Irsir1\Parms

DisablePowerManagement=dword:1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PPTP1\Parms

DisablePowerManagement=dword:0
Change to
DisablePowerManagement=dword:1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\L2TP1\Parms
Default value type and value are
DisablePowerManagement=dword:0
Change to
DisablePowerManagement=dword:1
using DCDs because i'm assuming that when i'm using sprint official (on which i get more batterry life) i don't have these tweaks and my phone went from 74% to 73% in a period of 2 hours and 42 minutes. be my guest and explain whats going on. lol
just wanted to post this.
NOTE: after i changed everything from 0 to 1 on DCDs, baterry was draining like crazy i soft reset and woila!! solved.

Battery on Touch Pro - HELP!

I am having a terrible time with the battery on my new Touch Pro. My battery goes dead in about 2 hours and unless I turn it off completely, I cant seem to get it to charge.
I finally ran the NuePower driver to see what my power drain is vs. my charging ability. I have attached a screen shot.
The phone can charge at 439 mA while connected to my laptop. The drain is at 523 mA when the internet is active.
When the internet is not active, the drain drops to 220mA which is enough to charge the phone.
I have verified that WIFI isn't turned on. I have also turned off Bluetooth and it doesn't seem to have an impact.
I had a mogul for years and used it in this way and never had battery problems. The phone would easily last all day.
Has anyone else seen this and if so, do you have any suggestions?
The only thing that really drains my power on my HTC Pro is ActiveSync. A quick fix is to use the Adavanced configuration tool and change the power consumption options to your liking. Also I heard changing to a new theme or Rom helps the battery last considerably longer
I had the same problem with my brand new TP. the battery only lasted 4 hours on standby, and used to get really hot. I only had it for a couple of days then I took it back to the store, and got a new one. The new one is a lot better and doesn't get as hot.

A new battery or a new phone?
took about a week for my battery to get "broken in" and at that point i was going about14-18 hours with TF3D running. I am now using Spbmobile shell 2 (really just waiting for SPB MS3) and i can go nearly 2 days now with just texting, a few calls, and checking email and internet a few times. It will last for a full 24 hours with heavy use as well.
When I first got my Sprint TP I only got about 7 to 8 hours of battery. What I did was to disable Rev A on the phone. Now I get about 24 to 30 hours
Well this is pretty common on just about every forum who discusses the TP....
My battery is much better now that I flashed the MightyROM...Apparently he has some power tweaks in there that actually work...
I also found a slightly bigger battery that fits inside the standard case on Ebay...
I now get through the day on a single charge provided I don't make a zillion calls all day...

Sorry, I am new to this forum and phone (1 week old). What exactly do you mean by "disabling Rev A?" I know from reading the threads that switching to a different ROM would help however since I am a newbie, I dont want to risk flashing my brand new phone and potentially messing it up. Thanks for any help!
Disabling Rev A on a Sprint Phone, will make it go back to EVDO rev 0. Is not as fast as Rev A but is a lot more stable and is better for the battery. To do this you have to get your msl code, I'm attaching the utility that I use to get my code. Just install it to your device memory. when you run it tap "get spc/msl, tap yes to the warning and write down the number that it will provide for you, that's your phone msl. Now tap on Launch EPST and hit edit, enter your code, on view info go to "Data Parameters" and there you will see Rev.A, disable it and hit menu and Ok, reset your device and ready.
You may need Net Framework 3.5 for this app to work properly
I did not wrote this app nor I take credit for it.

Thanks alot for your help! I actually used a cab that I found here or on PCC that has worked great for the first day. I pretty much went the whole day without charging which hasnt happened since I got the phone last week. However, after forgetting to unplug the charger to my phone last night, I woke up to an unresponsive phone. I know I have read that problem with other people. So I just wont charge it overnight. Well back to the battery, this cab seems to work quite fine so far. Here it is in case other people want to give it a try and maybe let other people know about your experiences.
hi I used to have this problem too. at least until 2 days a go. my battery only last for 10 hours. That was the best my battery can reach. then i find that htc.com release a new update rom. i upgrade my rom then as suggested by some forum i discharge my battery till my TP turned off it self
They says to ensure that TP cannot boot up again when we press the power button. The sign is a red text saying "battery is too low..... bla bla bla".
Then discard the SIM card (if any), Then charge the phone at least 8 hours (12 hours for best result). You SHOULD NOT turned on the phone while charging.
The result :
I do this step at march 18 2009, 10 Pm. Finished charging with 100% battery reading at 10 Am (march 19). After using it for about 2.5 hours calling, about 45 minutes GPS (Garmin Mobile XT), i still have 41% battery today (march, 20 2009 : 5 PM)
A good improvement for my TP. I will report the next days result.
May be some one would try this as well? hope my report could help.
Ps: im not sure that new rom is one of the factors causing this battery live improvement. so you may try this without updating rom
I posted this on another forum. Seems that some of these are shipping with defective batteries. Same thing happened to me earlier this week. Battery would only hold a charge 10-12 hours and I wasnt using it much at all. Took it back and got a whole new TP, this one's battery has been working just fine and I leave Bluetooth enabled and everything.
If you are having issues with the battery dying 8-12 hours in and you arent really using it, take it back and get a new one.

I had issues with this when I got my Touch Pro. I had to charge it about 3-4 times a day. Now, I charge it 1-2 a day. This is how I managed to achieve that.
First, I bought a Seidio 1500mAh battery on ebay. This gave me a little extra juice. And no need for a bulky back cover. http://cgi.ebay.com/Seidio-1500-Bat...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item35a3e9b967
Then, I used Codybear's ASKicker to stop Active Sync from running in the background...it eats up juice. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=72242
miriror: http://rapidshare.com/files/268159114/SHKCustoms_-_ASKicker_Beta1.cab
Con: you won't be able to activesync- this app prevents it from starting up.
Now comes a super program that made a huge difference, Nuerom's DynamicClock http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/page/nueDynamicClock.aspx This useful app slows your clockspeed down so it won't utilized alot of your battery. You can also keep it at max speed-but watch your battery drained faster.
For example: I have the app activated it now and it reads: [email protected] (with backlight on 245/[email protected])-now set at default:[email protected] the voltage...depending on how much apps you are running and installed- you might not noticed the sluggish.
Con: Some of your apps may require higher speed, so you might have to change the speed back- but it is all of matter of just making a quick change.
I also recommend G-light. Get it here: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-g-light.html This useful app, adjust the backlight based on the environment. I don't have to ever adjust the background manually. This saves the battery by lowering the backlight.
All these apps (and batter) have made a HUGE difference. When I did a hard reset, i noticed that the battery went from 100% to 50% in about 1hour with minor use. After installing the apps in- it went from 100% to 80%...again it will vary depending on your apps you have installed.
Hope this helps.

Battery drainage solution, I think

So, I have had a serious battery drainage problem, like most of hd2 users with wp7.
My battery usualy run max. 24h!
Now my phone run 2-3 days without charging.
I have just turned off connection with xbox live
So, go to the settings -> applications -> games, and turn off "Connect to Xbox Live"
I have 3G off
Data connection on (but mailbox, shares, weather ect. is updated manualy)
I hope this will help you...
Interesting will give it a go..... I have to say I beleive this and other 'solutions' may be solving part of the sympton and not the root cause BUT if it helps that's always good news until the chefs can get to the bottom of it!!
Thanks will let you know.
Cool cool
I already did this now.
Will also check it, and provide feedback.
Battery life is a bit of a problem, but atleast i have a car charger
I will give it a try.
3G on
Data connection on
its work this solution ?
I think it should work. I checked battery dainage with Xbox on right after turning phone on after sleep - about - 42 mA. So without use of the phone max time is less than 30 hours. But if Xbox is OFF current is just 5-7 mA. Means 6 times less on stanby!!! Will give it real timing try. Used Battery tool to measure current.
hello
did not work for me
It doesn't work in real life. After start some apps and close it current returned to 42 ma forever. No more 5-7 ma. Only turning on Airplane mode gives 2-3ma standby. So all bad battery life comes somehow from radio is too active.
Hello all.
I hear that if u change the radio version to a down one you have more battary life ..is it true ? there is anyone that tried that?

From my experience (only 3 days rooted LOL) you have to find radio that works best with your carrier. Better reception will stop phone trying to find masts, hence improving battery.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I don't see any problem with battery draining. If it gets you over the day, what do you need more. Over night you plug it in.
I have all switched on (location too) and no problem with music maybe 1h, reading mails, checking facebook several times surfing internet and news. I would even say its better than WM 6.5 doing the same, at least the same.
I think battery draining is not hd2 problem wp7 is the problem
the real solution for batery is - turn on 3G
try
batery life is 2 days with many calls, play and others.
22.03 - 10:00 am - charget
24.03 - 12:00 pm - charget agaen 50 hours
this is experience of one my friend and works,
I didnt try becouse I wait new rom
I apologize for the low level on my english

I know this looks unbelievable, but I noticed this before... Although I thought it is not possible and that I am crazy.... but after switching back to 3G, my battery lasts half day longer.... Why? Don't have a clue, it defies common sense, but it is like that...

It is definitely problem, comparing with all android ports where battery life is x2 more longer than in this "simplified" WP7!! Battery is dead in a half day in a standby is normal for you?
I solved my battery calibration issue by installing HTC battery tool, it fixes the calibration of battery so correct full charge is 100% and correct no charge is 0%. Give this a try, I am sorry I cannot post the link but I found this app on XDA too.

ok im running HD2O_1.04_DFT_LEO70_RELEASE and WAS running radio 2.15 and after 3 days testing and very poor batter life with registry fix, i decided to change my radio to 2.12. and so far after 7 hrs of testing ( full data, 3G, and internet browsing + youtube here andhier) my battery is still 3/4 change the radio it take 2 sec. to do.
with the old radio i was using, i went to work at 6a.m. got off at 3p.m. and i only had 1/4 left. with radio 2.12 i still have 3/4 and i used it more because im no longer at work.
try it good luck it worked for me
i will post another update around 6p.m. pst.

HD2 DRAIN BATTERY on WM7 - HOW TO FIX?

HI GUYS
IM USING RADIO 2.15.10
AND HSPL 2.08 ,
MY BATERY DRAIN VERY QUICKLY , I HAVE ALL SETTINGS OFF , 3G OFF. WHAT I DO WRONG or what i need to to to corrrect this issue.?
anyone are having the same prob??
tnks to all
there are at least 2 threads on the first page about this...
check the first post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041912
i read in one of the threads that we should charge the battery in magldr usb mass-storage mode for about 6 hours, and that worked brilliantly for me...
gave me about 40 hours of battery...! (3g on / data/wifi off - data/wifi on when needed)
i try use that mode but the charger light dont show ON , is not charging , i try using the charger directly to ac power and cable directly to pc mode but nothing he didnt charge .
Radio 2.15 seem to drain battery too much (from my own experience).
You can try old radio and see if battery life is getting any better (I recommend 2.12 & 2.14)
omg my phone only hold on 11h today with low usage, i dont know how to make him stay more time alive , the raDIO 2.15 I DONT THINK is the problem because many users are using 2.15 and dont say any... any sugestion??? if i cant fix the prob i need go back to andoroid or 6.5 version

Try to use HD20 1.12 and do video trick - with low(if it's realy low) usage it will easely survive 2-3 days.
i confirmed last night that the charge trick in magldr in usb storage does work to charge the battery.
I found that when my phone starts to get lower on battery that a reboot gives me more power due to the power meter being out.
Also a charge in an external charger helps.
sorry im trying to understand how can users see the MA off batery in battry tools , im trying to use the trick of change the camera mode to video mod and leave , they say the batery consume go to very low usage , like they say here but i cant find the "MA" in battery tools to compare .
this is what they say to do
"i start camera with green button and then switch to video mode there, wait for autofocus and after that just simple go out to main screen by pressing windows(middle) or back button then stanby current drops to 5-6 ma from regular 40-42 ma. (Switching to video is important - if not switched no results found)
It stays 5-6 ma on standby until next reboot. If i reboot and don't do this camera play current is 40-42 ma. But if i start camera -> switch to video -> out - current 5-6 ma.
After hack applied I used phone in different ways - talk internet email - standby still low 5-6 ma.
Please report your results and HD2 type.
Was on XBmod 1.04, 12 radio, location on, data on, bluetooth on, xbox off, wifi off.
If this problem really exist it will be found in all ROMs.
P.S. Tested phone before with most others ROMs - found this one is the best, thanks for this ROM.
Hope this will be fixed permanently in NODO."

Yes you are right it is not show ma. Electrical current is measured in Ampers or MiliAmpers. So look for Battery Current minus when on battery, nothing(plus) when on charge. Do video trick send phone to sleep mait few minutes, then wake up and fast go to battery tool wait there - you will see. Most important is ROM type. They should be all same, but a lot of testing shows they are not the same(not big difference, but exist in standby consumption).
Want to add - if used proper ROM and this trick you won't need any external charger, because i doesn't give much(internaly battery charged very well - i did a lot of external experiments with battery charged in phone), no need to go any magldr because not help much and dengerous for battery. if you use pfone a lot you may need only charged(in or out) spare battery because it works continiously only 3-5 hours.

I'll try to play with camera modules this WE since they seems the same between HD2 and HD7. But like I've said the bug is certainly due to the flash driver or a dependency with the camera driver or pdd/mdd.
For the rest (Wi-Fi apart) there is a lot of differencies between users with the same rom. Tmous/HD2, revision number of the device, OP/ coutry (for gsm band) etc. all this count to what radio we use (HD2 and HD7 extracted) and some drivers may be not acurated.
The RIL parameters for your OP are important too beside the radio because how your phone reach the GSM network has an important impact on battery consumption.
There is a tool I dindn't know exist before and testing now which I like: WP BENCH.

Yes you are absolutly right - a lot of unknown things and differencies. It would be very good if you will be able to look closer at all this. I don't have tool, enough knowledge and actualy much time to do that. Thank you very much for your work and results!!!!!
Yes, it's true. It worked with the camera bug... Normally my battery would be empty. But now I only used a quarter of my battery life. Nice !!
