Adjustable auto bright hack? - EVO Shift 4G Themes and Apps

Wondering if anyone knows where I can obtain a utility or hack to adjust the automatic brightness settings? In a dark or dim room, the brightness on auto is much higher than I need.
There were a few hacks available for windows smartphones to do this, but I haven't found any for Android/HTC. Found one specifically for the droid-x but don't think it works for us.

Been wondering on something like this also

CM7 has options to fine tune how auto brightness works.
^ Shift Faced

confirmed to work for me. I've adjusted mine in CM7 just the way I like.
Question to somebody else who has done it. Is it showing 1 colum having -1 on the buttons box? I noticed only one setting I cant turn off the 4 bottom lights because it doesnt let you change the -1 to a 0...

is there any guides i could read on how to set it all up? i have no idea what everything mean in that menu.

I'm right along with you. I just looked at it and then slowly backed out because I didn't want to mess anything up and I'm usually all for pressing buttons to see what happens.

I'll bump for this as well. I've always wanted to understand how to adjust the auto brightness in CM7, but I've searched around and haven't found any info on it.

Yeah I posted a message on the thread and still waiting. Just wanted to see if anyone had it laying around to share..
Found it one that works! Attached below for others. It lowers brightness to 1, stock brightness is 40. A lot less distraction for operating your phone in the dark. Just take the 50dimleds file(not all the folds, but just the file alone) and place it into system/etc/init.d/and reboot. This should save me a bit of battery too, yeah I know very little. lol

Find this file:
System/etc/init.d/01buttonlights
Open the file in that location in root explorer or similar app. Then in the file, change the brightest value from 1 to something higher. 40 is the brightest.

[MOD] Remove the HTC power saver option in the new sense Jellybean update

It was really annoying me so I did some searching and I found this thread.
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016254
Basically if you use titanium back up, you can just freeze or delete "com.htc.htcpowermanager" and it'll disappear.
I just thought I'd share with you guys, credit goes to to the guy who found this in the link above, I'm just passing it on.
EDIT: Freezing or deleting it will both cause your battery menu in settings to disappear. This isn't really an issue to me as there isn't really anything in there that you can do, besides see whats' eating your battery. IMO this is negligible especially when new roms will be rolling out soon, hopefully with a work around.
Wouldn't delete it just in u may need it later. Freezing is the best option for all annoying system apps. Thanks for sharing the link tho.

Read the edit I just made to the OP.
In JB you can long-tap on a notification and click on App Info. I did a Force Stop there, notification went away. Hopefully there are no other side effects. If there are any, I will report them.
LOL 5 minutes later, and it's back. And you cannot uncheck "Show Notifications"
I used this to get rid of mine. Think its a good alternative.

I have had mine turned off since I loaded the Rom and its still there. If we could just unlock the show notification option maybe that would turn off the one minor annoyance.
Is there documentation on what the power saver function specifically does?

[APP] Capacitive button notifications

Thought I'd share. For those of you that are looking for an alternative to the power button LED for missed notifications, XDA just featured an app called Buttonled by GermainZ. Basically, it turns your hard buttons into your led.
Thanks to ewcrider, if you prefer the red power button LED in place of the capacitive buttons, use the first file path on the list, led:red, instead of button-backlight/brightness.
Been using it for a couple hours and it's working great, so far.
Make sure to enable in accessibility.
Find the apk and give all thanks to GermainZ at the link below.

I really like the red. Changing the flash intervals works with this app so I'm happy as a clam now. Couldn't stand the long off delay or whatever it's called, haha.

Wow amazing find. Thanks for sharing.
Here is how I set it up, if anyone wants to know. This works just like BLN.
Pick the /sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8921-core/pm8xxx-led/button-backlight/brightness PATH. (Should be the second one)
I set Turn LED on for 7200 (Which, if my math doesn't suck, should be two hours.)
Then I set Turn LED off for 0
Finally I hit, Enable ButtonLED in accessibility. (This took a while to pull up, I recommend doing it yourself through the settings)

That's about it. Basically, if I am awake I will see if there is a notification within the two hours. But if I'm asleep I don't want the capacitive LEDs on for the whole 8 or so hours I sleep. I also don't want them to pulse or turn off if there is a notification. Two hours just seemed like a good medium.

I just tried it, extremely buggy. Still not pleased that this phone most likely has a compatible sensor, since it was made by Huawei, and Google claims it doesn't have compatible hardware. I would say they are just trying to keep it "pixel exclusive" as long as possible.

I just tried it as well. Doesn't seem buggy at all tried all the different options and all worked great. However, the major caveat seems to be that you simply hold your finger on the sensor (just like you do when unlocking the phone), rather than using a gesture - which is what people were wanting to get.
Yeah, it's not perfect but a decent start. True swipe gestures would be cool, I bet somebody gets something better working.

Lucky. Sometimes it works work well, others it would hang for over 5 seconds or just not do anything at all. It didn't matter what mode I was on. It especially got flakey if I pressed the power button. Oh well, whatcha gonna do. It's a step in the right direction so that's a positive!
