[Q] gtalk won't stop auto loggin in - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Google talk is not set to "Automatically sign in" however, when I open the app it signs in automatically.
Just curious if anyone has a possible fix?
Thanks!

"Automatically sign in" is for signing i automatically when the fone starts or when connectivity is established.
it is not like a desktop application since the app is linked to the gmail account on your fone.
alternatively you can choose nimbuzz as an IM client if you dont want to sign in always with the same credentials..

The one thing I was trying to do was make it so it doesn't show that I am always available. No matter if I log out or kill the app it always shows that I am available on gtalk.
Is there a solution to this?

Have you considered meebo or another app instead of using talk? I don't use chat apps but it might do what you are looking for.

I use ebuddy, but that is besides the point.
Here is the thing- since the gtalk is set up with the original google account (the one when you originally set up the phone) it does not let you delete that account off gtalk. But on top of that, no matter what I do i.e. sign out or kill the gtalk app (and even if it shows gtalk is not running), it always shows that I am available and never truly logs me out.
So with the original google account on the phone, I am now always available on gtalk and I can never log out- just really bothers me. Anyone have solution?
Thanks

Looks like the always available is an ongoing problem, I haven't found a solution yet...

Got it so ebuddy is no longer holding my gtalk hostage (I no longer show always available). I used the solution at the end of this forum:

WinMo app for updating facebook w/ gps coords

I know there are several apps out there that update twitter with the phone's GPS coords. Is there a WinMo app that does it for Facebook? I've messed with Loopt for blackberry, and that's the only program I've found that'll send a map location to FB. But I'm wanting to take my Tilt2 on vacation, and update my status with map or map coords/link on where I am. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Personally what I do is I use twitter and I have it auto-update to my facebook account. When I post a picture and/or location on twitter (or any other update for that matter) it goes straight to my facebook status message...
Just an idea...
True but in order to do that, (I believe) I must have my twitter account un-protected. This means anyone anywhere could see where I am. Not that I'm paranoid, but I'm looking for something that'll go directly to FB so i can control even which FB groups can and cannot see it Thanks though!
Glympse works well. If you have Facebook set up to accept text messages from your phone, it will post to your FB wall.
Never heard of Glympse but it is kinda cool. Now if only I could update via email. Trying to use data only, not txts. Thanks!

[Q] Google Talk Push Notification

Hey, so this question is vaguely an Android issue in general not particular to the Evo 3D, but since I have one, I figured why not. Anyway, does anyone else have issues with Apps that rely on push notification? For example, I have an application called Seekdroid that tracks your device and cell information, however the information is only sent when I open up Google Talk. And even if I try to locate it again 10 minutes later, I'll need to re-sign in to Google talk. Also, the Chrome to Phone app gives me the same issue, links will not push to my phone unless I sign out and back in, to Google Talk. So what's so special about the Google Talk app? Are notifications all pushed through the device through there, and any way I could work-around signing back out and in every time I need information pushed. (Lol, an app that tracks a stolen phone is not that useful if Google Talk must be signed in- and out, for it to send back the tracking data.)
Strange
I use Google Talk and Chrome to Phone and I never have to sign out and into Talk for CtoP to work and I use it all the time while at work. I say this only to suggest that it might not be an Android issue, just something with your phone. Wish I could help further.

Based on this information, it does seem to be an issue more perticular to your device and the android account authentication process. A few quick suggestions which come to mind and shouldn't take too much time and could potentially resolve the issue:
1) Assuming you're rooted, I would go into the /data/data directory for google talk and wipe out all the files there. This process effectively forces google talk to reinitialize the whole application from scratch erasing anything corrupt settings which might have developed. It also forces the application to authentic again and hopefully save down the correct settings files for itself.
2) Re sync the google account on the phone. One way of doing this is by removing the account from the device and adding it back again. I dont think this will work with the primary account only with alternate accounts.
Not 100% sure if either of these issues will work for your specific issue but I know when I've experienced push/sync issues with Gmail, probably uses same/similar authentication as google talk, wiping out the data settings directory clears the issue up very quickly!
I'm sure if there are other ideas/approaches ppl will post up. Let us know what you try and whether it works or not. Hope that helps!
Hey thanks for the suggestions but unfortunately I tried them, but they didn't work. Are you using more than one Google Account on your phone? I''m using two Google accounts but only one of them has talk linked to it, I'll try making a talk for the other account.
Only one

I only have one account linked to mine. Maybe try removing the other account. You could always try Titanium backup and a full wipe and just start over. I know this sucks but it does work sometimes. I thought joeykrim's suggestions were pretty good, and if those didn't work, you might have to start all over.
Good Luck
Hmm...Ill try removing the account, but this is a problem that's persistent on any rom I'm on.

the only other thought which came to mind....
i was looking around in the google talk application settings and the very first option listed at the top is, automatically sign in. do you have this checked?
that appears to be the only setting regarding sign in/out i'm seeing in google talk. i do have this checked and i know ppl seem to randomly send me messages which must mean i'm appearing online, even though i rarely open google talk, maybe once a week at most.
i'm still thinking it is an account sync'n issue as there aren't that many moving parts to the process .. one other idea as i'm typing, maybe having 2 factor authentication turned on would impact it? do you have that turned on for your account?
hopefully one of these ideas helps! keep us updated!
I have automatically sign in checked, I unchecked it to see if it'll help but still nothing. Sorry but I don't quite understand what you mean about the authentication thing.
So still no luck, I tried signing in to both of my Google accounts on my pc, making sure Google Talk was working via the browser. I tried chrome to phone many times, and tried tracking my device via the Seekdroid app nothing happens. Opened Google Talk and shows me signed in and available as always. Signed out, and signed back in on the app, and as expected all my links that I pushed came through, and the app was able to send the tracking information. However if I wait five minutes, I'll need to re-sign out and back in for the chrome to phone and seekdroid to do its job.
Okay Good News and Bad News. I finally figured out that it's nothing to do with my Google account, but it's my wifi network. As soon as I switched to 3G everything works perfectly without even touching the Talk App.
So now my question is, what will cause me to have to re-sign in and out of Google talk for the info to get sent to my phone when I'm on wifi?

Turning off auto login for Google Talk in ICS

In the newest version of google talk, included with all the ICS roms that I've seen for the i777 (ported from 9100), they removed the "automatically sign in" checkbox. It's not in my settings screen, anywhere.
Short of removing/freezing google talk, is there any way to disable automatic sign-in?
The only thing that works for me is to disable notifications.
Ok LiLChris06, and these upload isn't mine.
Do not upload paid apps!
On GB, when I sign out, it takes me to the login screen on next start. Only when I exit already logged in does it automatically login on next launch. Different for ICS?

You can sign out when done talking.
Next time open the app, you have to tap it to log in, yes, it auto logs in since it wont ask for the password.
Freeze the program.

If you're asking how to stop it from being logged in 24/7, I had the same problem.
If you tap on your account name to go to your contact list and hit the menu button, you can sign out (and it remains signed out).
remains signed out...
until you restart your phone.
This is quite annoying. I update my ROM/Kernel frequently on my GNEX 4.0.4. Then while at work I get dual notifications. one on my desktop and one on my phone. I don't want to have to keep signing out every time I reboot my phone.
I've sent a notice to google using the gtalk app. Hopefully they'll listen.

Why do my google searches on my home pc shos up on my phone?

The weirdest thing to me... I type in "ducks without feathers" on my work or home pc and that same search shows up on my galaxy s3 a little while later. Im connected to a wireless network on both and signed in to google on all 3. Is this why? Does it work the opposite where things written on the phone show up on the computers? I find this invasive if i want to search something in private but it shows on my work pc? Anyway, just curious whats going on.

because you are signed in on your PC with your mobile Google account. so they save search history to your account...
if you think this is invasive, the. I think you should logout of Google for when your searching up these things you for some reason don't want recorded.
on a personal note, I would say delete your accounts and toss your phone and stop using the internet if you think linking search history that is only viewable to you is invasive. do you know how many things are tracking you web wide, not just search history on Google?
"Ducks without feathers?" :what::what::what::what:
Like stated above, search history is saved onto your Google account and synced. You can disable it in settings, though.

So you will search for ANYTHING on your work computer then? Its none of my employers business if i think i have cancer and want to search for symptoms on a personally owned device.

I personally wouldnt use a personal Google account at work honestly. less trouble period. a better solution I think would be to use a second account for business use only. limits potential vectors that something can obtain your PW, personal info and such.
Under your account sync options sync browser is one of the available selections.
Google History
I am having the same problem however, I am not searching FROM my PC , I am searching from my phone and it shows up on my work PC. I am not even logged in to my Google account at work! How is this happening?
It's not "Sync Browser"

That doesn't stop it.
I've had "Sync Browser" disabled since shortly after I got the phone, because "Sync Browser" is a battery killer. (Before I disabled "Sync Browser," Settings->Battery showed 33% used by "Browser" when I'd done no web browsing on the phone at all; after I disabled "Sync Browser" that went to zero.) But even though "Sync Browser" is disabled on my phone, my google searches on the computer (in any web browser) are still showing up on the phone, almost immediately.
I also tried disabling "Sync Google+," "Sync Google+ Photos," and "Sync Google+ Uploads," but that didn't stop it, either.
I also tried disabling "Sync App Data," but that didn't stop it, either.
The only other Sync settings I have enabled are:
Sync Calendar
Sync Contacts
Sync Gmail
Sync People details
This is very annoying!

SO RIDICULOUS! I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT I'M WATCHING UNFOLD???? YET AS YOU SEE BY SOME OF THE ANSWERS IT DOESN'T SEEM TO ANGER PEOPLE WHOM SHOULD BE ANSWERING THE CONCERNS YOU ARE REQUESTING. DEVELOPERS ON THIS VERY WEBSITE TELLING YOU TO DELETE YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT. ITS SCARY WHAT GOOGLE IS CAPABLE OF DOING, WE ALL HAVE PICTURES, DOCUMENTS, PRIVATE THINGS WE'D BE MORTIFIED WE DIDN'T KNOW WERE SHARED ALREADY. I MYSELF HAVE TROUBLE SEEING, I'LL TAKE A PICTURE OF SOMETHING I'M READING TO ZOOM IN, OR REFER TO INSTRUCTIONS INSTEAD OF 10 WINDOWS OPEN AT THE SAME TIME. I ASKED GOOGLE PLUS A QUESTION, AND IT SHOWS UP IF I GOOGLE MY OWN NAME, ABOUT GAME OF THRONES!!!! I SAY OKAY GOOGLE CONSTANTLY TO NOT HAVE TO TYPE ON MY PHONE. ONE SUGGESTION IS TO SEARCH "INCOGNITO" ITS RIGHT IN THE TOOLS ON GOOGLES MENU. GO TO (website blocked me from providing you the site) sign in there and look at everything one by one. it shows where you've been, where you've signed in, you can change all kinds of settings through that. Most of all fear google plus the most! Because they auto upload without permission your cameras pictures and aren't private by default. It used to be Picasa I think Google bought it. So much more,,,, For now start those suggestions

[Q] YouTube app broken - "There was a problem with the network [500]"

After one of the recent updates to the youtube app, I haven't been able to watch any videos. No matter what I do in the app, I always get the error "There was a problem with the network [500]" and the loading icon just spins forever. This happens on launch, when searching, and when being linked in from outside the app.
I've gotten this error before on older versions of the app, but it never prevented me from using the app. I have a feeling it has to do with my youtube account/email associated with my google account being suspended (happened years ago for uploading clips from a concert I went to, which is BS since youtube is full of them now).
Anyways, does anyone know what I can do to make the app work again? Is there a way to add an alternate youtube account? The "sign in" option does not allow me to specify an email.
I'm using a Nexus 7 on 4.2 and a Razr Maxx on 4.1.2 and Youtube app version 4.2.16
Figured out how to associate the app with a different account. Add another google account to your device, then clear data for the youtube app (or un/reinstall if it's not a system app). Launch the app and it will let you select which account to use.
Works perfectly
