Sgs IIs - gt i9003 ? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Execuse my ignorance, Is sgs IIs the same as sgs gt i9003?
Sent from my GT-I9003 using XDA Premium App

no, i9003 is a variant on the sg1

It's GT i9103 dude.
This version will have the Tegra 2 processor and S-Amoled instead of GT 9100 which will have Exynos + S-AMOLED.

Please don't add more confusion by adding i9103 to the equation, there is also a i9003 which is a version of the old Galaxy S-

Well his thread confused me as he put both SGSI and SGSII on one level, how would that make sense

i9003 is a pretty new phone, released in february this year, so it makes some sense to mix them up. But not for me (and probably you) since I've read every thread at XDA about i9100

Galaxy Ace Plus makes a good buy considering that it runs the latest version of Android and has a powerful 1Ghz processor. However, if you are very keen on the battery and would want your phone to stand for long, note that the Galaxy Ace has a battery of 50mAh lesser than the original Galaxy Ace, though such a small change in the battery capacity would not matter much during practical usage.

Latest android LOL
they haven't said anything on ICS and GB is pretty much common as most of devices are updated which were released last year.....
50mAh won't matter much on ace but considering 1GHz it would matter a lot as most of would overclock....
TW4 ummmm armv7
It seems that our successor is granted at least a Cortex-A8

I beg to differ. Galaxy S would be very close on price and far better choice IMO.
I think people at Samsung don't have enough to do so they just come out with a load of ****.

I agree, this is like a smaller Galaxy S rather than an upgraded Ace. Same CPU clock speed, same amount of RAM, same camera res, but with considerably worse TFT screen rather than the Super Amoled, not to mention pretty much the same res as before. GS is bigger too. It'd probably come out about the same price as the Ace last year, £200+, but you never know, prices of such smartphones may drop in price.
I do believe they are only releasing this phone as part of marketing. Most of teh market only know that this is an upgrade of the Ace, and not pretty much exactly th same as the Galaxy S, which very few people buy nowadays because Samsung simply don't market a 2 year old device.

Again, which is what the GS has, whether it'd be produced by Qualcomm or Samsung themselves, we do not know, but most likely Qualcomm.
Also, if it has similar specs to the GS, don't expect an ICS upgrade either.
yup and ace plus won't have much of dev support soon where S has lods of support from various points..
any day SGS...but if hardware same then we can just resize somethings and get all things working on ace +
Lmfao

To be fair unless you move to hdmi why upgrade. Galaxy s, defy, zte blade2 and many others have better screens and are in the same price range. My defy cost me £100 witch is far less than an ace. And its got twice the power, maybe not on paper. But try a arm7 device and you'll see. Can't wait for a galaxy s2 tomorrow, dual core goodness!

T-Mobile USA? No. T-Mobile USA Galaxy SII is the SGH-T989. That model has its own forum, you should go there. I9100 ROMs will not work on the SGH-T989 because they have completely different chipsets and hardware.
Yes you can if you flash any i9100 it will work great it will actully enable the 2 extra cores to make it quad core!!!!

I don't know about gt-i9100g, but I'm using SHW-M250S (korean gs2) now.
as i know, there is three type of korean gs2, m250s/k/l. s/k is for gsm, and l is for cdma.
m250s/k is i9100+nfc+dmb(korean tv broadcast)+some pit difference.
if u just flash pit for i9100 on m250s/k, you can flash all roms for i9100 on m250s/k.

I don't know about the Korean variant of the galaxy s2, but the major difference between the GT-I9100 and the GT-I9100G version is the SoC. Exynos (made by samsung) is present on the normal (non g variant), and has a lot of dev support because it is the first international variant. The G version has Omap4 SoC, the same as galaxy nexus, which makes it more dev friendly as Omap4 is more easy to develop. However, the G version has 1 GHz processor, not 1.2 (like the non G), tho users are very happy with the G version. It all depends on what you plan to do. If you want to flash AOSP (such as CM9/10) ROMs, you'd be better off buying the G (version) since developers are now leaning towards that. Both phone have custom ICS and JB ROMs, so you don't need to be worried about that.
As far as the battery is concerned, I'm happy with my S2, I can easily spend a day using it with normal use. I plug my phone in at night and plug out after waking up, and use the phone for the whole day without charging again. I guess you could say its reasonable for such a smartphone. I don't know about battery life on the G version, though.
Both phones are alike in physical appearance, and the way to distinguish between them is just the from the bootscreen or written behind the battery on the phone, and on the box ... maybe someone else may tell you more about it.
Sorry for the long post

People in India are not happy about getting the g model in the box when they have paid for the non g model.

the i9100 has the dual core exynos 4210 with mali 400 gpu specs on sheet its faster than omap 4430 , but u wont tell the difference ! the i9100g has a better battery life and is powered by sgx 540 but its overclocked from 233mhz to 384mhz other than that they are the same ! plus i noticed that my i9100g comes with 11gb storage only not 16! which is kinda weird
Dude, give up on the idea and just get a Nexus 4 if you want Jelly Bean.
Don't even think about getting any other Android, it just won't be the same as getting the updates straight from the big G.
Good job necroing a 12 mth old thread

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Ace vs Jelly Bean

Hello!
Samsung confirm which devices will get Jelly Bean
- Galaxy S III
- Galaxy S II
- Galaxy Note
- Galaxy S Advance
- Galaxy S II LTE
- Galaxy Chat
- Galaxy Ace 2
- Galaxy Beam
- Galaxy Ace Plus
- Galaxy Mini 2
- Galaxy S Duos
- Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
- Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
- Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
- Galaxy Note 10.1
How come Samsung Galaxy mini 2 gets the update and Smasung Galaxy Ace won't?
Chears
Because Galaxy Ace is old armv6 piece of junk(old cpu, low RAM and internal memory), Mini2 is much better, just check specifcation.
If you want official JB buy new phone and stop whining

Well, according with the specifications in this site, "gsmarena", the only major improvment I see in Galaxy Mini 2, is the Internal Memory (512 MB RAM vs 278 MB RAM)...the Chipset, CPU and GPU features are the same...

New Mini 2 is ARMv7
Our old ace is ARMv6 as simple as that.

[Q] Swap i9100 for i9100g

Hey guys , I was thinking about swapping the i9100 for i9100g because Exynos is much harder to develop for than omap, and CM10 works without the hwcomposer/mem leak etc. Won't cost me anything. What do you guys think? have any of you done that? thanks

I saw codeworkx complaints but you basically have few good ROMs for GT I9100G. Only an unreasonable person will Swap his phone the way you want when majority of GT I9100G owners will happily swap for GT I9100.
There are much more ROMs for GT I9100 than GT I9100G.
If Exynos phones are harder to develop for, then what do you want owners of Nvidia Tegra phones like HTC One X to do.
The decision is yours to make. I believe you will get your device swapped within the first 1 minute.
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Supercharged ParanoidAndroid 2.12
Dorimanx kernel 5.78
GT I9100
Next phone: Galaxy NOTE II
Use a JB rom like cm-10-20120925B-EXPERIMENTAL-i9100-linaro_12.08-changmin and it will blow out the OMAP platform lol
Haven't tried newer JB roms yet like RR, but this linaro build is amazing U can use it with Siyah or Dorimanx kernel they are both good
Thanks
