[SOLVED]Can't get into CW recovery or flash an official rom - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I'm running whitealiens rooted nandroid stock rom but I've been trying since yesterday to get into recovery to flash a custom rom, Rom Manager it tells me it's flashed the latest recovery but when I try to boot into recovery it sits on the hero splash screen, so I thought I've just flash an stock rom from HTC using RUU and it says that there is less then 30% battery even though it's at 70%, or it says there's no USB connection.
I've tried reinstalling Rom Manager, reflashing a new recovery but still the same problem, anyone on got any ideas ?

Managed to fix it this morning by using "recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0." through rom manager.

solved it?

Yes, flashed alternative recovery through CW then downloaded the latest CW from website, renamed it update.zip then booted into recovery and installed it

[Q] Can't boot cm9 after clean install

Hi everyone!
I am trying to flash cm9 with CWM v5.0.2.8, but the phone gets stuck while booting. Before flashing I wipe everything (dalvik cache, cache, data, battery stats), and format the system, and still I am getting stuck while booting again and again. I see a screen with a red circle with M inside it, the text under it is "dual core technology", and the text in the top - "unlocked". I can wait and wait but nothing happens. the only choice is to restore to the stock rom. My device is rooted and unlocked.
I Tried to use the previous version of CWM, but after I flash it with rom manager the recovery gets unreadable. I go into the recovery mode and see unreadable lines of text.
Please help me! I'm tired of unplugging and plugging the battery again and again..
Thank you!
Forgot to say:
I tried to flash the file "beta-0.2.0-cm-9.0.0-RC0-Sunfire-KANG-signed.zip".
Should I have flashed any special kernel?

Bold part is the problem. For some reason the newest version of CWM results in a stuck boot with CM9 for the photon. You need 5.0.2.7 (or below I'd assume).
Go here and grab the CWM that is posted and flash that.
Thanks. How do I flash a recovery? RSD lite is good?
Edit: I tried to use bootstrap, but it doesn't boot into recovery but into android. So how do I flash the "old" version of CWM?

OR use the moto-fastboot method which is simple too.
Thanks for the help! I managed to flash the recovery, and then I successfully flashed the cm9! Thank you!

I'll be honest this is why I don't like rom manager
Good practice should be to do everything as "manually" as possible first, then consider using apps like rom manager to speed up these tasks.

twrp 1.1.1 is the latest non-touch twrp recovery. if you want cwm, go to clockworkmod.com, go to rom manager, and look for evo 3d on the list of devices. 5.0.2.0 is the latest non-touch cwm recovery, and I would not recommend using cwm touch recovery.
you can also download rom manager from the play store and using the app to flash cwm recovery

Clockworkmod 5.0.2.0 also sucks. tried it and had to do a full RUU restore.
you can download 4.0.1.4 from Here
I use twrp touch with htc dev unlock hboot 1.5 and haven't had any problems with it at all. Clockwork sucks, couldn't get latest version to work with it. Running infected rom haven't had any problems. I'll prob switch batch to the non-touch next time I flash just cause I would rather have something more stable and I don't care about touch but seems fine to me.

I never had an issue with 5.0.2.0 while I was using it, but okay. I'm using 4ext, I like it a whole lot better than cwm and twrp

Then you have obviously flashed a incompatible version or kernel. You will need to be more specific about how you flashed and what you flashed.
If download/recovery are working simply flash a compatible kernel. Kernels come with cwm.

I'm a noobie, the only thing I did is simply put the phone in download mode and installed clockworkmode recovery 5.5.0.4.
How can I check which kernel is compatible with my phone?

Boot into download mode and then flash Siyah kernel v4 or v5 should be fine, then after flashing kernel reboot into recovery and flash the rom zip of your choice.

I flasheded 0124-office.zip(ROM), and flashed boot.img which unzip from other ROM, it looks like same size:12.89MB,2019-01-01, just flashed with recovery, but you should flash it with boot file in orangefox recovery.
Yesterday I download the second ROM Aospextended-***-20200213-0256-offical.zip, this ROM is OK, just flashed and reboot it, it works well.
