No dlna in BAMF? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I put bamf remix on the phone the night I got it so never got a chance to look at the original DLNA app, but have noticed there isn't one in the Rom. Is there a particular reason why, or a way to get it back? I downloaded an app, twonk I think, but it sucks. Any better solutions? Also I know on phones with hdmi out you could show your screen copied directly and play games on the tv. Can you do this over DLNA? Thanks.

i would like to know this as well

Connected Media in the app drawer. Is that what you're looking for?

Looks like it. No way to duplicate screen then?

Could you upload the apk for it.
So this is the app that I got off the market and sideloaded on my tab.

My issue is that I get audio but no video. Let me know what you guys get.
On a side note....video through browser works flawlessly.
audio works but picture doesn't.
Has anyone had any luck with this?
Works fine in just the browser.
There is a new version showing up in the market for Honeycomb tablets.... but it won't allow me to download it. Says it's a "developer test".
I read an article that it's now available for the Asus Transformer. Hmmmmm. Wonder where.
Also, it's advertised as coming with the new Sony tablets.

[Q] DICE Player issues after ICS

DICE player for Android plays videos fine, after ICS, but there is no menu button anymore. No way to turn on/off subtitles, or choose subtitle files. Also, there seems to be no way to remove the bottom status bar while playing a video. Has anyone been able to find work-arounds?
This sucks.
Send a mail to the developer so he knows what he need to work on. Hopes its a easy fix for him. Diceplayer have been the best player just because of its many and easy settings when it comes to subtitle and more.
Does anyone find a workaround or it is up to the man behind Diceplayer that needs to fix it.
Start to miss HC more and more.

There's no need to panic, keep in mind all these apps were wrote for either gingerbread/honeycomb.
ICS has just been released (this is the second device)
for apps as popular as the dice player, I'm sure they'll be writing a version (or altering the old one) to play nicely with the new OS, just gotta be patient.
Yeah I know. Everything just need some time.

Already sent him an email. Have you observed the things I mentioned?
I have the same issues.
I disabled sub menus in dice player this afternoon and I had never even used it before. Poke around a bit., you'll find all the settings

The settings are only viewable if you open the DICE player app by itself (i.e., not from a file manager). As far as I can tell, those settings are not doing anything.I changed the font size, and it has no effect when I actually play a file.

Yeah, I know I can find the settings inside the application.
I talk about the menu/options key that you can access when you are playing a video. And the subtitle size can't be changed. Aside that the video playback works great as usual.
Have mail the developer and told him about the "problem".. So know we just wait.

just a heads up
this is not specific to dice player.
about 40% of my apps no longer have menu buttons.
there is no alternative that I know of.
they just are not compatible with ICS
ICS is totally sucks. Did live up the all the hypes. I wish I never updated my to ICS. HC was working great for me. After updating to ICS, all kinds of issues...screen flickering very few minutes, some apps totally don't work anymore.....
ICS Feels more like a phone OS. HC felt more for tablets.
Now with ICS there no need for tablets specific apps because the phone app should work. This means that we won't see any apps that take advantage of tablets bigger screen. I still think it would been better if we got one OS för tablets and one for phone. Now we with tablet just will get phone apps because that's the idea with ICS that phone and tablet are the same.
Back to Diceplayer. Just received a mail from the developer and got a test version. Now we have menu button and the subtitle size can now be changed.
The status bar still shows. But that should be a easy fix. He don't have a ICS tablet so it's hard for him to test how it works. But now when he now about it I sure he can work something out.
Really hope he gets a paid version up on market soon, so he will get some $$$
We need to remember that ICS only been out for 1 month. And only runs on 2 device. Remember how long it took for HC to get good support. I am sure that if we just give the developers of apps time to fix and update there apps to support ICS it will become better.

Im confused. I just used diceplayer on ICS and it worked just as before?
Same issue for me.
I tried MoboPlayer and Rockplayer and both work, but don't have sound for some reason. However, at least Rockplayer plays in hardware mode for me now.
BSPlayer lite seems absolutely fine.

When playing a movie tap the screen and look top right, there should be a menu button there. Now white ICS that is gone. But he is working to fix it asap.
The app works as before just that the menu button is gone and that the status bar don't go black

Oooh ok now im up to speed, thanks.
I can still select audio/subs when it first starts the video, so its still very usable imho.
Just give it some time I suppose, same as with all other now borked apps.

The status bar still shows in BS Player lite.
Got a other test version from the developer of diceplayer. In this everything works like in HC. Can access menu when playing video and the Android status bar goes black as it should.
Haven't heard anything from the developer when he planning to update the app on Android Market. But sure it won't take long.

Have sent an e-mail to the author - the subtitle font size doesn't work under ICS. Font family, color works as expected though.

[Q] Video Screenshot app

I'm looking for an app similar to screenshots but for video for instructional videos and such that will record what I'm doing on screen. any help would be awesome
Hmm.. hope you get a good reply, it'd be interesting to try out!

I did a google search and found this app....haven't tried it though
http://www.android-markets-info.com/helpful-tools/android-screen-video-capture
I also see one in Google Market...but says it doesnt work with Tegra 3...I'd watch that cause eventually he will update it for Tegra 3
There is an app called "MyMobiler"...He just did an Android update, but the Prime needs to be rooted (and I am not). It will put the Prime screen on your computer monitor, and you can control it with your mouse....and anything you can do on the prime (including copy/paste, etc) can be done from the computer....With that, you could use your computer capture app to capture that portion of the screen. I used to use it with my Win 6.5 phone and took some videos with it. Hopefully the anroid version will work.
The website for that is:

Good luck

Allshare Play

Is it or does the new version of Allshare app blows in comparison to the old one (S2)?
I'm assuming I'd have to root and deodex my phone in order to copy the old one?

Agreed.. I want the old AllShare back! I tried pushing the apk, but it only starts then FCs. :crying:
Here's a couple of the bad things I've noticed:
The new one is not backwords compatible with the PC version of the Allshare app, therefore installing another web based app
Any video I stream from the phone has to buffer every 10 seconds, unlike the old one, same video, is silky smooth with no hicups
I can't browse by folders!!!!!!!!!! I have scroll through hundreds of videos!!!!!!!!
How would Twonky compare for DLNA streaming?

I pulled the Dlna.apk (allshare) from my sgs2 and it seems to work fine. Only problem is its hard to see some of the fonts for some reason. Still usable though and am attaching it here in case anyone wants to try. Just copy it to system apps. No force closes for me and yeah you need to be rooted. I felt the same about new allshare so I use the old version
Oh and the other issue is your media server will see your device as i9100 since its from that device

They must have made changes from Epic to SGS2 if the epic apk didn't work.
Also, I just realized the other day that you can go into More Settings -> Nearby devices -> File Sharing. You can also share that way. However, playing with it I am not able to stream MKV container videos to my TV. Whereas with the Allshare App I attached above works no problem. You can stream MKVs without issue. The only issue is that allshare is hard to see because of the white theme and the thumbnails look a little pixelated. Its works fine though
Yeah, I miss original Allshare too. I can't seem to find my Onkyo Receiver to ouput to.

Q: Video Player

This maybe the dumbest question I come up with, but where's the video player in this phone?! I ended up downloading a different one from the Play store, but I just wanted to ask the question to see where the vid player is.
There's one that I tried, but it said I am not within the region to use it or something similar to that.
its in the app drawer i think. htc watch or watch havent used it yet so im not sure
nm its in the tv app just scroll right to my videos

Yeah, I tried the HTC Watch and Watch and those both said that my region is not supported when it started... I'll check out the TV app, though, and see how it compares to the one I downloaded.
Play Movies & TV is what I used to test before downloading my normal player.
