[Q] Phone detected as USB Input Device - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I have a cracked screen (soon to be fixed) Dell Streak 5.
When I connect it to my PC it detects it as USB Input device and install the driver for it.
If I try to change the driver and use QDL Tool Windows says the @location does not have hardware information). I tried Windows 7 and XP with the same results.
MAC and Linux detects it as Qualcomm but there is nothing I can do as there is no ADB server nor FASTBOOT.
The only post regarding this does not have any replies so I dont know what to do.
Best Regards.

Anyone knows? A little help would be appreciated.

where did you get the drivers?
Maybe you can get the dell drivers or load the SDK for android it will install drivers too.
What is the end result you want?

I have Android SDK installed, which works properly with other phones.
My question is why does my Streak is recognized as a USB Input Device?
Is it normal?

To get my streak working I had to install dell drivers (got it via here just click on downloads tab and install software but don't launch program after drivers have installed http://www.unlockstreak.com/pages/d...?ref=874b1d7212afe8cc4672f2f53d9976c12a5ea0e5).
After this I launched QDL Tool held vol up and inserted usb cable which launched Qualcomm HS-USB 9002 driver which won't be found, you need to go to drivers which should be in a folder that comes with QDL Tool.
So should go as Drivers - Driver_2.067 - Win 32 (or 64 if your running a 64 bit system) - Whatever OS you are running - qcser - Select 2nd option of Qualcomm Drivers and search for Qualcomm HS-USB 9002 should install when you double click on it and should be ready to go.
Check if QDL Tool has recognised driver via communications port if not close down and reopen.
Click on RUN if driver success and should start restoring Streak, should know when complete as it goes green when done and good.
Note: When installing driver have to manually install it so a case of Update Driver, Browse my computer, Let Me pick, Have Disk, Browse when it shows path to select, then go to path whever QDL is extracted (eg Desktop) and follow folder paths above to get it installed.
Hope this is clear and also hope it helps!!! Good Luck

Thanks for your info but it's not helping.
It seems than something else was damaged when I cracked the screen because it never detects "Qualcom..."
Best Regards.

Hi I recomend taking your sd card out and put that directly into your pc and if you cant do that maybe borrow a friends smartphone or card reader.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA Premium App

The phon had the Volume and Power Flex ripped off, so the phone did not power.
I replaced it and the phone is running now.

[Q] Request: Dell mini 5 Driver For Windows 7

Anyone have a line on how I can get this?
Do you mean an adb driver for USB debugging support? If so, I've found that if you install the PDANet client for your version of Windows, it installs a driver that ADB likes. You have to make sure to uninstall the Dell PC Suite first though, if you have that installed.
as far as i'm aware (i'm running win7 atm) there are no specific windows 7 drivers.
Just download the latest Android SDK and run adb from there. Works a treat.
Just install the Dell PC suite. You'll need to restart. after your pc restarts it should be fine. I did this yesterday when I bricked by streak. fastboot = annoying.

If the process you used caused you to "brick" your phone, why would you suggest others to follow??? If it didn't work for you, it most likely wont work for others...
Still no luck getting this to work.
go to device manager choose android 1.0 or whatever its called, choose to update drivers, manual option, the bottom option, have disk, choose the folder with the usb drivers from the sdk and then select android.
the drivers work fine then..
if you're trying to get pcsync to work then this isn't related
download Fastboot.exe & Koush's Recovery > unzip to your c:\ , renaming to something like c:\streak ...... Go to control panel>system>device manager ...... rigght click "android 1.0" > let me pick > show all devices > Android phone or Google INC ( i didnt find Google INC in mine , only found Android phone ) > Android Bootloader Interface
It will the bring up a warning , just click "ok" and it will bring up another dialogue saying the device is installed successfully
Hope this helps

[Q] QDL win 7 64 bit Help

Streakdroid no longer has guides posted. Need help with qdl. Win7 64bit drivers wont load. Most posts refer to "extra steps" needed to install but none are showing the steps needed. Please help or post the guide please.
I am currently running 1.9.0 and have been having stability issues and issues installing .apk's
Would like to get the 2.2.2 rom rooted and working.
Check my post here:

still getting nothing. Have the phone in the mode where windows is identifying it as a Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM. I am in test mode as per your post. When I point windows to the drivers I just says none found.

Assuming you know how to install new devices, plug your phone in and when system manager finds your device change it to:
Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9002 (in the qdl start page states the same, must have it list device light this for it to work)
If you don't have that get latest drivers from Dell's support web page. Let me know how it works out for you.

I don't know how to tell it what a device name is. If i just turn it on it says dell mini. Holding up and on gives me "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM"
go to control panel, go to system, go to device manager, go to Ports (COM & LPT). For me my is associated with COM1, so assume the same for you, doing this from memory, if you have multiple go to each one right click select update driver software, click on browser browse my computer and hopefully you see dell mini or something to that effect.
Click on let me pick, uncheck show compatible hardware, scroll down to qualcomm, in the model box scroll down till you see Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9002. Click on next follow the steps from there.
Can't remember if I had to reboot or not, but anyways you need to go through the bcd edit steps if you returned your system to normal. Now start qdl tool, holding volume button connect your usb. Hopefully next to the word port in device section you see Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9002.
If you do run the tool. If not, since I am doing this from memory, you might need to search for the exact steps to get driver update to Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9002.
I'll rememeber this for later.
I thought you HAD to run QDL tool to flash stock rom again. I didn't realize it was more of an un-bricking tool.
Flashing stock recovery with fastboot now and going to install .pkg from there see how that goes.

simple to flash a rom, just do a Google search, can go from any stock rom to any stock rom in less than 10 minutes. Fastboot and Update.pkg are your friends

MediaTek DA USB VCOM Port - Help me fix Code 10 problem

PLEASE! I need to load a new ROM into my MT6575 phone using Smart Phone Flash tool.
I've installed the Mediatek drivers on 4 different computers in my house (Vista, Window 7, Windows 7 64bit, Windows 8) and I cant get ANY of them to work!!
When I look under Ports (COM and LPT) in Device Manager, I ALWAYS get: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
WHAT is going on!! I've wasted so much time with this problem.

your not the only one with this problem i have it too with same mt6575 someone help please
Need to uninstall device and reinstall drivers
If you google, "Code 10", you will find that on a Windows system it is an error code generated by the Device Manager "because it can not start a device". In a nut shell, the most likely cause for this is because the device was not properly installed with the right drivers.
If you are running Windows, you can try to use the attached file called USBReview to see what device that is as you know it is your phone. Basically, with this program you can remove all the old drivers and start all the driver installation again.
Try to find your phone either here on xda, on the web or contact your phone's manufacturer - you need drivers!!!
Good luck, Mr. Phelps.

Your USB program does give a lot of information I have never seen before, but I still haven't been able to figure out how to get the driver to load.

I'm having the same problem installing the MT6575 USB VCOM drivers. Is there a workaround to get this installed? I"m using WIN 6 64bit

This is what worked for me after lot of experimenting and searching:
- get MTK6575 drivers (for instance from Bruno Martins where he writes about flashing mtk6575 - google: MT6575 flashing tutorial bruno
- Start c/windows/system32/hdwwiz.exe (as admin)
- Click next
- Manually select hardware
- List all devices
- Select the driver (for example usb2ser_Win764.inf)
- from the List select "MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port"
(or you can install other drivers from the list if Preloader is not enough..)
On another computer I solved it by installing whole Android SDK, checked my android system and installed updated for SDK (approx. 2 GB) and it installed correct drivers automatically.
Also you can experiment with using another usb port..
Please write here if it helped.

Did you ever get this problem solved as I have the same issue with an MTK 6592 chip based phone?
I have the same problem too.
Installation of Media Tek preloaded drivers gives me Code 10 error.
Has anyone found the solution?
my phone is totally dead without power now after I tried to flash with SP Flash tool using correct ROM. I noticed in device manager that there is a CODE 10 error in mediatek preloader usb driver.. is this the culprit? my phone can no longer be detected now in SPFlash or MTK Droid tools... so hopeless... this is a brandnew phone I bought to be given as gift to my cousin...
I did it! I did it! I did it!
The solution is... we need not MediaTek USB VCOM (Android) (USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0005&MI_02), but PreLoader USB VCOM Port (USB\Vid_0e8d&Pid_2000) !
I have MTK6582 (KingSing S2), the host - WinXPx64.
It looks like my phone (and, maybe, other MTK devices too) have several engineering modes.
I have spent several hours trying to get working VID_0BB4&PID_0005&MI_02, which is exposed, if device is turned on while holding VOL- pressed. In this mode some strange factory mode with nonfunctional menu items is displayed on the screen. But to activate mode with Vid_0e8d&Pid_2000 some trickery is necessary.
Sometimes this USB interface starts repeatedly to appear and disappear every half-second in infinitive loop. I had such situation once, when connected turned off phone to USB cable with battery removed.
I just literally catched MT65xx Preloader by double clicking on it in windows device manager and pressing "install drivers" in it's properties. I have used Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00\SmartPhoneDriver\x64\Infs\usbvcom.inf from http://spflashtool.com/download/Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00.zip. DriverVer = 12/24/2011, 2.0000.0.0
After clicking "Read Back" in Flash Tool this insane loop stopped and program started to function as intended.
This interface could also appear once and for very short moment, if turned off phone (with battery inserted) is just connected to host. Also it could be seen again, if power button is pressed. If "Download" or "Read Back" is not pressed in advance in Flash Tool, than boot will continue after smaller than a second pause (if device is functional).
I don't know if running Install.bat (from archive I have given above) is necessary. It didn't installed driver when Vid_0e8d&Pid_2000 wasn't active, but, I guess, running it during short blinks would give the same effect.
Also, I don't know, if advice given in comment#6 in this thread four years ago would work. Maybe, the fault was in older version of driver (DriverVer=05/30/2011,1.1123.0).
Another reason could be that necessary USB interface disappears before windows manages to install driver for it for the first time. Possibly, only if "catched" in device manager, user could manually assign driver to it.
I've been struggling with my UMI Rome for days. It has/had the black screen problem, sometimes won't enter recovery mode, sometimes wouldn't allow charge, sometimes works just fine (yesterday). Last night i mistakenly cut off power during a battery recharge. -- today it has all the above problems (bricked) so I am trying doing a flashing again using the tutorials and tools on the Tehnotone.com site. Sintetix's reply above helps me at least have a better clue on what is going on. Wish me luck! BTW, I am using a Dell Windows 10 pc. (Results to be reported here.)

I tried what you said. It wouldn't install properly. It kept saying error (code 10) and showed in device management with a caution sign every time I installed the driver. I disabled the forced driver signature thingamabop but it still does it. I guess I'm screwed. Has anyone else fixed this?

Problems with MTP USB Device

I plug my phone into a USB port.
The first time I did so, an AutoPlay window pops up prompting me to run LGAutoRun.exe. I click to do so.
The LG United Drivers are installed onto my computer great.
But then an AutoPlay window pops up prompting me to run LGAutoRun.exe. I click to do so.
My computer attempts to install MTP USB Driver, but fails. According to Windows, the device is unplugged.
The AutoPlay window reappears. Repeat from the beginning of the paragraph.
What have I done to deserve such trouble, LG?!?!
Apparently the drivers installed directly from phone are not enough. In any case, I was observing similar behaviour *until* I installed LG PC Suite (which you should have been prompted to do too). It's stupid, it sucks but again, it's LG.
Install the LG drivers first. After that, when you plug your phone, it will be recognised as an mtp device.
Have you got Windows Media Player installed?

Plug the phone, go to device manager in windows and uninstall the driver for the phone( or whatever shows up with the yellow triangle). Then unplug the phone and connect it back again. It should work. If not, uninstall the lg drivers and clean every trace of them and start from the begining.

Interesting to note the phone is listed as a CD-ROM drive.

I have already tried what you said as I posted before. The LG United Mobile driver gets installed but the MTP USB Driver does not get installed due to the device being unplugged according to Windows, even though I have yet to disconnect the phone from the computer. The phone still says "Connected as an installer".
The phone is recognized as an F: Drive by Windows but LGE Mobile but keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every 20 seconds or so.
I am going to have to upload a video to YouTube to make things crystal clear.

Try a different USB port or cable. My P769 would not work on my USB 3 ports, but was happy on the USB 2 port. I had already installed the drivers and LG PC Suite and it picked up each mode just fine.
Plugging the phone into USB 2.0 makes the phone show up in portable devices, but LG Suite fails to identify the phone. I tried using both LGE Android Net MTP USB Device and MTP USB Device but they both fail. I have LG United Drivers and LG Suite installed already.
got thesame problem here mate..i search all over here and google the driver but still cant find any solution..this is so frustrating to fix this issue,,got install and uninstall the pc suite and driver many times but still cant get the solution..so what could be the fix????
no one can suggest..someone told me that maybe its causing the broken data cable but i have 3 cables now..
everytime i intend to install the MTP driver thing my pc always failed to do so,,saying that the filename, directory name or syntax label is incorrect..but i manually direct the search to lg driver folder but same error occurs..or there still other alternative apps that can transfer files without removing my sd to my phone,or atleast transfer files over the wifi..??
Any fix for this one? Already tried uninstalling, installing LG drivers, removed and reinserted SD card and everything. But still to no avail. It installs everything successfully EXCEPT USB MTP device which is the one I needed the most. Any solutions? Thanks!

You must be on 64 bit windows. Not even on 64bit, Still try this...
1) Uninstall LG Drivers, LG PC Suite and anything you see named LG. Restart PC.
2) Install latest LG Driver from this post (step 4)
3) Install Optional MTP Driver from this post (step 4)
4) Open Windows Device Manager (just to watch whats happening.)
5) Disconnect Internet (To avoid stupid online WDM drivers)
6) Connect phone with Usb and let drivers install automatically. Give it some time to install drivers keeping watch on Device Manager window.
7) Keep changing USB connect modes to all modes one-by-one on Phone and let drivers install.
You should see MTP drivers installed now. If this does not help, cant think of anything else. If this works, press THANKS button
EDIT: Connect USB at backside of pc, directly to USB on pc motherboard.

Thanks for taking the time to answer me mate. Already tried literally everything on what you just said above. Still no. I tried it on my brother's old vista laptop. One connect and it worked instantly! Lol.

This works on XP x86
Need:
1. LG USB cable that came with the phone,
2. Media Player 10/11 preinstalled,
3. your LG Driver,
3. LG Phone,
4. and Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit (mtppk12.exe)
1. with phone disconnected install Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit
2. when asked to restart the PC, go ahead and restart
3. open device manager, connect phone to PC
4. install driver and watch LGE Android MTP disappear
5. be sure to toggle between Charge and MTP on the phone to install all drivers
this also works for HTC MTP

[Q] No fastboot, No recovery, Stuck at dell logo.

Well as all the other cases i have also in my hands a Dell Streak 5 which got stuck on the logo screen and i have been fighting for weeks to recover it without any success. My father tried to update it to the latest version and he messed up with everything.. Unfortunately, i dont know the exact steps he took as he can not remember.
First of all i will describe my current situation and i will describe all the steps that i have taken until now..
1. Dell recovery can not be accessed by pressing (Volume +,Volume - and On/Off)
2. Dell fastboot can not be accessed by pressing (On/Off Camera button)
3. Dell download mode works fine by pressing (Volume + when connecting device with usb.)
4. The Qualcom drivers are successfully installed.
5. Dell successfully passes streakflash.
6. Dell fails in the end of the QDL tool with error
Wait for ADB device" error [D2]:wait ADB fastboot mode timeout! (black screen on Streak)

What i have done so far to resolve my issue.
I have followed this quide and numerous others that are alterations of the below guide.
Firstly after the download, you have to get the drivers (guess the problem is only with Win7 64 bit OS) in place.
The same link above has the links on tutorials to install QDL tool drivers for Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9002.
After this...
1) Run streakflash version from the streakflash.zip(after extraction though).
2) Boot into diagnostic mode (Vol Up + Power button) and connect the USB cable to the computer. 'Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9002' will show in the port field in streakflash QDL tool.
3) Hit the run button. The process should stop at success.
4) Disconnect USB cable and close streakflash QDL tool.
5) Now run the QDL tool that came in repairtool.zip (after extraction though).
6) Boot the Streak into diagnostic mode (Vol Up + Power button) and connect the USB cable to the computer. 'Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9002' will show in the port field in QDL tool.
7) Hit the run button. The process should stop at success. If not, dont forget try again and again. Make sure you change USB ports (to which you are connecting ur streak) on ur system too.

I have tried all the fastboot drivers that are provided by Dell from their website and the drivers that come with repair tool and streakflash. My issue here is that although i installed the drivers in the computer i dont have a way to match the drivers with my Dell as long as it is not possible to enter in fastboot mode. The only thing i did is to plug in my HTC Desire and when it asks for the driver i provided the drivers for the Dell in order to be able to find them later. I dont know if this is even possible but i tried it. Another thing i did is to add legacy hardware in the windows devices and i added the Android Adb Interface, Android Bootloadern Android Composite ADB interface but this did not work as well..
Last but not least i tried 2 different ports of my laptop. The first one stucks at Run Hex Success and the second arrives to the point i described previously. The operating system is OSX and i am running Windows 7 32bit in a virtual host and i tried the same in a normal Windows 7 installation. Both give the same results.
Finally i tried 2 different internal sd cards, the 1st one is the one coming from dell(2GB) and the second one is a 4GB that it was being used as external. Both gave me the same errors.
I have search in all the XDA forum, modaco, pocketables but i did not encounter a similar situation.
Please, if anyone has any clue what could be wrong and i can not overcome the above error please share with me.
Best Regards
Same problem
I have the same problem. The phone just won`t go in fastboot mode after streakflash, it`s just the same. I try to find another version of streakflash qdl but i can`t find it.
QDL won`t work because the phone won`t go in fastboot (wait for adb- error), so i think the problem is streakflash.
Maybe someone can help us:crying:

I try that too, the streakdroid page is offlline. i still think that the problem is streakflash 2.7.4.5 , because it run perfectly, but nothing changes, i cannot run into fastboot.

Same issue since months. No fastboot on my streak. Tried QDL, nothing. anyone has the QDL repair tool?
---------- Post added at 10:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:01 AM ----------
I have finally found a working QDl repair tool.
This should help most of us

Good luck
I'm amazed how many people still try to root the Streak using one-click root tools. They're not recommended, mainly because of the results shown in this thread. They're also unnecessary, as the Streak is arguably the easiest device to root so long as you immediately boot into the recovery after installing it.
