Stuck in boot - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I seemed to have got my phone stuck on the boot screen. I was playing around with some mods and I believe one of them wasn't compatible. My phone is rooted.
Any advice on how to get around this?
Thank you

What were you changing when you broke it? ie. how badly broken is it? If you can get into adb while it's running, you can undo the changes via the shell, and reboot.
If not, then you should re-flash a stock ROM via ODIN (see dev forum for guides) and start again.

I was changing the battery icon and i don't think it was compatible. I'll try re-slashing a stock rom.
Edit: Where can i find a stock ROM? I'm only coming up with modded ones

here, read the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1057535
download stock from here

[URGENT] What has happened to my phone?

I was adding some skins to the Ultimate Clock Widget via Astro, and moved some fonts into the font folder, but as I done that the phone froze. I left it for a couple of mins but nothing happened, so I rebooted.
Now all I get is an empty battery on the screen with a circle in it.
I had 90% battery when this happened.
I can't reboot into recovery, but I can into download mode.
So what happened? and where do I go from here?
I'm using CM9
I'd flash a stock rom with Odin. Clean slate.

It's that drastic?
Given the phone won't boot, you've got no recovery & can only get into download mode, thinking logically, is there anything else you can possibly do ?

Your absolutely correct . I would have done the same thing .
True.
So, theoretically then I just flash stock, root it, and flash my most recent nandroid? I'll then have everything back to how it was?
Yep. You'd think that should work fine. If it doesn't, post back in this thread with whatever you're having trouble with.
That's sorted. Thanks very much. Back to how I was a few days ago
Good man ;-) You're one of those rare people who had a recent Nandroid handy when the worst happened (you'd be surprised how many don't). Kudos.

[Solved]Black screen after T-Mobile spash screen/Stuck on Vibrant/samsung boot screen

I was using Rom ToolBox. I attempted to change the theme of my rooted but stock rom Vibrant. When RTB(Rom ToolBox) rebooted the phone it would only boot to T-mobile boot screen then go to a black screen. The 4 buttons on the bottom of the phone still light up when touched. I can get into recovery and have reset data as well as formatted SD card.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I need this phone for my job that starts on wensday.
After recovering from what I posted above, I then soft bricked my phone a second time, this time it would only load to the Vibrant/Samsung boot screen.
"You should be able to get to download mode.
Pull the battery, put it back in.
Make sure the phone is still off.
Hold volume up + down while inserting the usb cable.
See if that works." credit goes to theexel for getting me out of this second soft brick.
If you have had either of these 2 problems this thread should have some answers for you, or will point you in the right direction to getting ur problem fixed.
I cant say thanks enough to everyone that helped or tried to help me with these 2 problems.

If your phone is stock rom but rooted.. just use odin, you can lose some info, or not, but the phone will work perfectly again (suggestion: try jelly bean, better battery, and it's working great)

That should be if you have this phone period, and there's signs of life on it, which there is on yours.
Look through this Q&A section for a tutorial on how to ODIN back to stock, you should be fine.

Bad news for me, now its soft bricked I believe(phone--!--cpu) screen. Also looks like the usb port is bad. Talk about crappy luck. Any ideas on this development is also appreciated.
You can still ODIN when you see phone--!--cpu.
As long as you see a COM in ODIN, you're good to go.
If it's not working, try different computer ports, cables, etc.

I think the longest part of using ODIN is having to download the files initially.
It only takes, no more than 10-15 minutes to have your phone up and running again once you have all the files and run ODIN.

No worries, ill take any advice I can get.
I prefer official stuff from big teams, so I use CM10, I like it, its fast and stable.
Currently dowgraded to Froyo though, ah, I've missed my GPS.

I bricked it good this time, got cocky and flashed droid-vibrant rom. Didnt like it so I went to go back to my original stock rom, used clockwork recovery but something went wrong. When I rebooted the phone im now stuck at the vibrant/samsung screen. Cant get into recovery or download modes now. Everything I try just keeps cycling the vibrant/samsung boot screen. Is this a hard brick or is there a way to save it?
You should be able to get to download mode.
Pull the battery, put it back in.
Make sure the phone is still off.
Hold volume up + down while inserting the usb cable.
See if that works.

You sir are a life saver. Ok now before I do anything else. What should be my first move from here?
Well, that depends on what you want to do.
What ROM you want to install, etc.
Well, what do you want to run on your phone?
Froyo - been out for a long time so it is optimized to the eyeballs. Working GPS, long battery life, quick and snappy.
Gingerbread - Since we had no "official" build, there are problems with battery, GPS and small memory leaks here and there. Plus you will have to install Gingerbread bootloaders (If you screw this up, it is the one sure fire way to hardbrick this device-so tread lightly). Almost all GB ROM do NOT have e911/911. There is CM7/7.2, Simply Honey, MIUI
ICS - Make sure you choose anything 4.0.4 based, as it has updated code from Google. ICZen is my home ICS ROM, but there is Slim, CM9 and a few others. (Install guide is in my signature) GPS sucks for the most part too and maybe/maybe not e911/911.
JellyBean - All are experimental and still glitchy if you don't know what you are doing. HellyBean and SlimBean are the two front runners.
******************
My suggestion to you is for you to runu some Froyos to get you comfortable with the flashing, nandroiding, tweaking,...processes and then move on to something else. Above all read and search. This phone is 2 years old, so chances are you won't have done anything that someone else already has. Nearly all the issues are solved, so you should be able to use the search and find something out about said problem, as opposed to opening a thread about it.

I think i will stay far far away from GB. I guess I would want to stay on froyo, I just dont know which froyo rom would be the best. What im looking for is fast/good battery life/working GPS. I would need 911 to work as I drive for my work and use it quite abit to call in accidents/problems on the roads that I see.
Yea I searched and read and read, once I got to the phone--!--computer I knew what was wrong. This last time I found alot of people who had the same problems, the ones that got solved I tried the methods that they used and none worked.
I would go with Bionix-V FishmanMod Rom / Bionix-V FishmanMod Odin Images. It is proven to be really great at all the things that you listed. Also it has an Odin image, so you can just flash it through Odin and go about your day like normal (See the OP). You can theme it with the themes list in Slim_Ryder's post #4 (this is a great 2.2 ROM also btw).
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I went with the rom that you suggested. So far I am loving it. Much thanks for all of your help as well as others that helped as well.
Sweet!!! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Also might want to take a look at my Battery Guide stickied in the Q&A section. It has tips, trick, apps and some really good info you might need.
One last thing: Can you go into your OP and click Edit>Go Advanced and then put [Solved] in your title.

[Q] Boot problem with T329w (Desire X)

Hi, folks.
I've been reading through this forum trying to find a solution to the problem i'm currently having, but none found.
The problem:
As said in the title, Desire X is called T329w, a model custom-made for China Unicom.
Trying to root it using the app by hasoon, and everything seems to work, except one thing: the phone will not boot right away if the battery is removed and installed back again, and will only boot normally after the phone is left with battery removed for a pretty long period, luckily, 45min, and sometimes 4~5 hours.
Just wonder what could be the cause for this?
OK

What you could do is:
1. Check if the protective battery case has been removed
2. Discharge Your Battery Completely
3. Remove It From Your Phone
4. leave it on the table and go to sleep
5. Wake Up Put it back in your phone
6. Make Sure Your Phone is Switched Off
7. Charge Your Phone Completely
8. Your Problem Should Be Solved by Now
Will give it a try.
Just wonder why this happens. Is this related rooting the phone?
Maybe...

Maybe because the phone is not purely genuine
If it has something to do with the rooting maybe your battery moved during the process?

i'm suspecting that it is related to rooting the phone. The question is the stock rom is not available at the moment, so we can't go back to stock rom to test.

I guess it's rooting process related; as you flashed a Recovery based on T328 boot.img but yours is T329. If you have the stock recovery for your device, flash that, it should work normal.

I was using the recovery of DesX from this forum.
And I finally found that DesX is a little different from T329w which is available in China. HTC T329w has dual-sim card support while DesX supports only one sim card.
This is the thing that makes the differenc.

[Q] Bootloop on Galaxy Mega i9205

Help! The phone dropped to the ground once and had a crack on the digitizer and LCD screen. I replaced both of them and now, it is stuck in a boot loop (turns on, stays on splash screen) I've tried flashing the latest firmware thru Odin, but the same thing happens. All I can do on the phone is just getting to the download mode. I can't get to recovery, too.
Did you wiped cache and dalvick before reboot?
Before the first bootloop what did you do(Install an apk? Flash a zip?)? Were you rooted? A custom rom? A stock one?
During Odin did you wait for pass and blue color?
have you seen This? Is that similar for you?

Yes, I did wipe both, I didn't do anything weird except a reboot, not rooted, stock ROM, pass on Odin, not similar to the hard brick problem. I can get to download and recovery mode.
You can go now to recovery mode? Have you retry to flash a rom?
Do you remember last version before and the last you install? Couldn't it be you had try to flash an older version?

It seems this issue is a difference in screen compatibility. To fix this, you can turn the device on and let it boot into the Android OS, then (while still on), unplug the old LCD and plug in the new LCD. Hit the power button to ensure the new LCD is working properly, then turn the device on, and finish assembling your phone.

need help desperately
I just got a galaxy mega from someone an got ripped off because it's running 4.4 kit Kat and had the screen replaced right before I got it, so it doesn't work. Bootloops. Due to not an OEM screen and I don't really have the cash to risk ordering a screen claiming to be oem.
So how can I just downgrade to a version before the need for OEM screen??
Please any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm still a bit confused as to what exactly I should do.. there's alot in that thread.. I really can't afford to buy another screen. This really sucks that the update requires OEM screen in order to function.. if I could find a way to fix the issue without buying a screen I'd be extremely grateful!
But I don't have much experience at all with rooting and flashing custom ROMs, and I'm kind of afraid to brick the phone..
Any help to get the touch screen up and running would be highly appreciated!!
Thank you!
I am the only one who only a part of upper screen works? (I can see status bar, and rotating enter to wifi settings and try to get out of welcome screen of att)

[Q] Help! I think i bricked my S3!

Hey guys, basically, i'm new-ish to flashing, but i was able to do it following all instructions. Yesterday i installed an s5 theme from this site that caused my phone to have problems such as the wifi not working. I was reading that flashing a custom kernel might help, it didn't.
So i woke up, entered my TWRP custom recovery and stupidly factory wiped everything, now my phone wont get past the 'Samsung galaxy s III' screen, it just stays there. I have no idea what to do, i'm dumb enough not to make a recovery file before i started all this so i've ****ed up there.
If anyone can help me get my phone back i'll be extremely happy, i just want it working again! I have work in a few hours and really hope to fix it before then! Any help is appreciated.
Download a stock rom from sammobile.com and flash it the way you flashed TWRP.
