Bluetooth phonebook issues - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have a bit of a strange issue with the galaxy S I9000 and also the I9100.
I always connect to my car using the rSAP bluetooth profile, the first time I connect to the car I enter the 16 digit code and set the device to trusted when a notification message pops up, a minute or so later I get a notification about a phonebook request, I accept this and I get the phonebook transferred to the car.
For the first 3 times of getting in and out of the car I get the phonebook, missed, dialled and received calls. Then after that it will not transfer the phonebook, I can tell it's failed as I go into the memory and look at the imported contacts and it's 0, usually I have about 190 contacts.
It will only transfer the phonebook if I reboot the phone, then I get another three transfers of the phonebook and then it fails again.
The car I have is an Audi A7 with MMI 3G+, but this was also the case with a Q7 with MMI 3G, both times I used rSAP mode for the call quality and SMS facilities.
I think it's something to do with the pBAP requests, but I'm not sure what.
I might check in HFP mode if the issue remains.

Same issue over here, but in this case i'm talking about a SKODA with Columbus unit fitted. Probably the same unit as in your AUDI, since they are kind of family of each other.
I wonder ... how can I disable rSAP en us HFP instead on my SGS II ???

Bluetooth Voice Dialing Problems

I have been having trouble with my Note i717 voice dialing over Bluetooth. I pair it to my Pioneer DEH-P710BT care stereo, transfers phonebook and works when dialing with phone manually or by selecting name on deck.
My problem is with the voice dialing from the deck. I say the name but it keeps selecting a wrong name/number for each name I say. It will have the same wrong name for one name that I say, no matter how many times or clear I say it. It will give a different wrong name for another name that I say. I have tried saying last name before first name as well and it still doesn't select the right name. It feels like its just translating it wrong into text since it keeps selecting the same wrong name for each specific contact???
I had the same problem with my Nexus S. The exact same setup works fine with my Galaxy S2 i9100, HTC Nexus one and LG GW620. They all call the correct name.
-I have no lockscreen lock or password
-I have tried google voice search and Vlingo as default voice input
-Listen via Bluetooth is selected in Vlingo (tried without selected as well)
-Phone & Media profile are selected in the bluetooth settings for the deck
I am hoping there is a fix and its not some compatibility issue with certain samsung phones and my Pioneer deck. So far only 1/3 of my samsung phones work.
Anyone else have this problem? Ideas? thanks
How did you change between voice search and Vlingo as the default voice input? I have similar problems with voice dialing on a number of android phones and I'd like to try some other programs to see if it's a software fixable issue, but I can't get the phone do launch anything but Vlingo.

Settings/Voice input and output/Voice input/Voice recognition
I have the Rogers Canadian SGH-I717R.
Changing that setting on the AT&T version does nothing, unfortunately....vlingo always picks it up. Oh well, was worth a shot since I've had better luck with cyberon voice commander.
Same issue here. At first I thought it was my car 2012 Hyundai Sonata. Deleted contact list out of the car a couple of times and tried pairing multiple times. The GNote pairs fine but gets the wrong name frequently.
Mine gets the wrong contact all of the time.
Doesn't anyone else have this problem?
Sure...had that since my first Android handset. So I started using Cyberon, which works better and has a confirmation mode (since I got tired of Android ringing up some bagel shop in Hoboken every time I tried to call my mom - I live in California BTW), but the Note doesn't offer the ability to have the bluetooth multi-function button start any app other than Vlingo, which doesn't meet my needs because it doesn't work through the phone lock screen when my phone is suspended.
If I'm going to have to pull the phone out of my pocket, unlock it, and then voice dial, what's the point.
WM6.5 had this functionality working beautifully in about 2007.

Odd... are you saying you can't voice dial thru your car's BT without physically unlocking the phone?
I can voice dial just fine (locked & unlocked) on mine through the Ford Sync in my car.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA App
Are you screen locked or password locked? I haven't tried it in my car yet (don't really need to as my car can read the phone book and I can dial by touch), but Vlingo will not respond to my bluetooth headset at all when the phone is PIN/password locked.

Car Bluetooth phonebook sync issues

Car bluetooth works fine for both audio and making/receiving phone calls, except for one issue:
The phonebook syncs but is ordered LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME. More problematically, there's no indication of which number for a contact I'm viewing (e.g. Work, Fax, Mobile)
My previous phone (original Samsung Epic) displayed contacts thusly:
Joe Shmo/F 800-555-1000
Joe Shmo/W 800-555-1001
whereas my Evo LTE 4G displays:
Shmo Joe 800-555-1000
Shmo Joe 800-555-1001
I could get used to just the last name/first name issue, but when I mistakenly dialed a fax machine this morning is what finally put me over the edge to post here.
On my phone, contacts are already sorted First - Last so that doesn't seem to carry over. I also can't find anything in my car bluetooth settings to control this. I have a Volvo 2012 C30 if it matters, but like I said this worked as desired on my previous phone so I don't think it's a car setting.
Thanks in advance for any insights!
It would be interesting to get another friend of yours that has an HTC phone (not LTE) and see if you get the same results, it could be a HTC way of transmitting the information to the car head or it could be how your car head gets the info from all phones. I don't believe that there is a fix for that.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that in the next couple days and report back.
One interesting additional data point is that the call log (recently dialed/received/missed calls) shows names in the correct First/Last order. Again though, not sure whether that's the phone or the car driving that display...

Bluetooth Call Log Sync Problems?

Hi, all. Did a search, couldn't find anything on this, wondering if it's only me.
I've got the T-Mobile GS3. Use a bluetooth connection with a Pioneer AVH-P3200BT head unit (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/DVD-Receivers/AVH-P3200BT).
My contacts and Missed Calls history syncs just fine with the head unit. However, on the head unit, my Received Calls and Dialed Calls histories aren't accurate. Mostly they're filled with 5 digit numbers and a just one of my contacts (who shouldn't be in the log at all) is repeated over and over. The call log that I bring up on the GS3 is accurate.
I don't have another head unit to try to sync with, so I'm wondering if the problem is with the phone or the head unit. I'm suspecting it's the phone, as my old Vibrant's logs were always correct, regardless of whether I was running stock or CM9.
So I was just wondering if anyone else was having this problem (or whether they've even checked).
I've tried deleting the pairing on both the phone and the head unit, rebooting both, and re-establishing the pairing to no effect.
Anyone?
Bump.
Let me ask this another way. Is anybody having no problem with their Received and Dialed calls being synced with their head unit? Is yours working well (if you have this feature on your head unit)?

[Q] Phonebook via Bluetooth

So, I am frustrated and hoping someone has found a magical menu or combination I haven't.
I configured my contacts to only show me my gmail contacts and ignore, among other things, the ridiculously stupid AT&T Contacts app. This works great.
The problem is that when paired with my car, if I download the phonebook, I get whatever's in the AT&T Phonebook. Which, naturally, is nothing except for the 5 or 6 preloaded AT&T numbers. I've tried most every setting in the phonebook and bluetooth menus, and nothing's doing the trick.
I don't think the car is the issue at all, but if it matters it's a 2012 Acura TL
Thanks!

Bluetooth in Car Contacts

Sorry if this question has been answered before.. I searched all over the internet without a specific and definitive answer.
Whenever I connect my phone to any vehicle via bluetooth, mobile numbers under one contact appear twice in the vehicle when that contact is selected. This is a pain in the butt when trying to make a voice call as the vehicle always says "there are multiple mobile numbers associated with this contact".
I technically know why this is happening but looking for a way to prevent it. You see, I believe the culprit is whatsapp or google duo, or any other app that uses phone numbers, and therefore link themselves to that certain contact.
Now, is there any way to prevent the number from showing up twice in the vehicle under that one contact?
I have tried:
1. Unlinking the contact, only for linking to reappear after a sync.
2. I tried turning off sync in whatsapp, but because Auto-Sync is on for all of android, it just turns itself back on.
3. Prevented whatsapp from accessing contacts, but this just turns all contacts into numbers in whatsapp which is not what I want.
4. Turning off Auto-Sync in android, works, but I don't want to use it because then I have to manually sync everything else including calendars which I update frequently.
Going in to contacts and selecting a customized view has no affect.
Now I technically know what the car is trying to do... one number for Phone dialing (cellular) and one number for Whatsapp (data) dialing, but I don't want that.
Any way to get just the cellular side of the contact to be shared with bluetooth?
P.S. This has nothing to do with specific phones. This is an Android issue as I've tried it with multiple phones across multiple vehicle makes. All have the same issue. However if you want this information too, I have a One Plus 5T and my wife has a pixel XL. I drive a 2018 Colorado with Chevrolet MyLink and she drives a 2013 Honda Civic with Handsfree Link.
