[Q] Unlocking an O2 Mozart help - 7 Mozart General

I have just got myself a new HTC 7 Mozart and it is locked to O2 UK
I tried various locations including eBay to get an unlock code for it and none seem to be able to get a code for my IMEI.
I got myself a Rebel Sim II with the programmer and programmed the sim to the 1.3 beta and still no joy, just won't come up with service, just has the circle with the line through it in top left.
Any ideas how I can get this phone unlocked as I want to use it with my Virgin mobile sim.

where did you purchase the handset from? contract..
https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset Unlocking Form

It is brand new on a contract with O2.
Ill try that link and see what they say.
Thanks

I recently purchase HTC Mozart on Pay n Go and filled the form for unlocking. when did you hear about unlocking after sumbitting that form?

I got my reply from O2 and they unlocked it without any problems.
Got my code after 5 days of submitting the form.
Thanks chetzy
Apparently for people with a contract on O2 they will do it for free, just as long as you honour your contract term.
Pay and go customers they may only do it after 1 year after you have registered the phone or it may possibly cost £15 which they will take from your credit which you will need to have available on your sim. If you didn't buy the phone direct from O2 they may not do it.

Thanks for the update. I bought it from O2 store and the store people assured me that it will be unlocked within 28 days and £15 will be deducted from your pay go balance. so let's see. thanks again.

O2 will unlock after 12 months otherwise you have to wait until unlocking is worked out after the phone has been launched .

I work for o2 and as long as it is a contract phone and not pay as you go, you can unlock it anytime by either completing the online form (google o2 'unlockmyiphone') or by calling customer services and requesting them to fill out the form for you. It can take up to 14days for you to receive the code.
Failing that, there are numerous IMEI unlocking websites online who will send the code within 24hours for a small fee.
Regards.

I am presuming that it will not need unlocking to use a Giffgaff network sim as its part of O2 .
Three O2 shops today no stock and no idea if they will receive stock for launch 1st may .

You could use a Rebel Simcard. It's not the best solution but it definately does the job. I used one on my Dell Streak when they were exclusive to O2.
I take it you're getting it as an upgrade direct from O2?
If not open a contract with O2 through Phones4U and you'll get an unlocked device

It is £399 with O2 but will probably be locked
I also asked a popular online unlocking firm what the chances are of unlocking this handset and this was their reply:
This should be no problem at all. That's because there's one main database for all European Samsung Android handsets. We have unlocked the Samsung Galaxy S from all 6 main UK networks.

I don't know if the database will work for SGS II. Anyone know?
I have no previous contract, so just buy o2 payg £399 & unlock £15? (Total=£414)
Why would anyone pay £499 unlocked ?

Because at this stage, nobody is really sure that the 'unlock £15' part of the process will indeed work You could end up with a phone that will not currently work on the sim you may have ( I do understand you have no contract, so if you are happy with O2 payg, fill yer boots).

My Vodafone HD2 came unlocked - that wasn't the problem. The killer was that because it was a Vodafone phone, it could only take updates from Vodafone, and their updates came months after the unbranded ones. Once the Devs got HSPL all sorted out then it wasn't so much of a problem, but that didn't happen overnight.
So be aware - it's not just the network locking that's an issue when you buy a phone from a network.

Thanks for the heads up. I think O2 don't mess around with their handsets. Only Orange, T-Mobile & Vodafone.

This was the same with the first batch of O2 HD2's only accepting O2 specific updates which they changed after the second batch went out as were getting too many complaints. Hopefully they've learned from this and will allow standard manufacturer updates from the start. This wasn't due to particular messing around it was due to the serial numbers being registered with the manufacturer as not being generic therefore updates were refused by them. I doubt Samsung are quite as good as HTC with the regular updates but always good to know you can update when it's available.

Here's a response I received from a query I made of an eBay seller in relation to unlocking the SGS2...
"This is GUARANTEE TO WORK because this code is directly from Samsung and it is permanent. After you unlocked it, you can do software update or anything you like and it will still be unlocked."
Sounds promising...
It does but would like to know for sure before buying.

you say it can take 14 days for the code to arrive...is that normal or is it usually quicker?
Successful unlock?
Did anyone hear about any successful SGS2 unlock?
I also read in some places that when you buy PNG from O2 it is SIM free. This was the case when I bought an iPhone 4 when it came out. It was SIM free out of the box.
just either get CPW to price match which they are supposedly doing at £399, or waith two weeks as they are goint to that price soon.
This is very stupid from me but as with the SGS, would it be possible to retrieve the bml3.bak file and unlock?
I'm just assuming samsung is using the same method of hiding the Network Control Key.. maybe they're lazy..

[Q] Network Unlock Mozart on Orange

Hi, I've had a look around a few forums and online services but I can't seem to find a way to network unlock my HTC 7 Mozart thats on Orange.
I am an OUK customer, but I'm leaving the UK in 6 weeks so I'd like to keep my handset. My problem with calling Orange is that I didn't get my handset from them but off ebay. I emailed the seller asking if he could ask Orange for the code but he didn't reply. Orange keep telling me no when I call them or go instore - pretty poor service considering I've been with them for 11 years and I'm band 5.
Is there a ROM, update or code that I can use to unlock this and use it for any network?
There are loads of options on the web. Try this one:
http://rebel-xtc-clip.com/htc-imei-unlock-codes.html
Its cheaper not to use Orange anyway to get the phone unlocked as they will charge £20, you can get it cheaper and quicker elsewhere.
I used a service which sent me a code in under 5 mins and cost about £15.00 via Paypal.
http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/
Orange are not as helpful as they use to be since teaming up with t-Mobile, I recently gave up a 17 year account with them worth £300 per month and ill take my others with them when they expire too.

HTC Legend - Help Please

Hi folks,
Bit of an emergency.
My phone has gone belly up and refuses to switch on
I have found a VERY old HTC Legend that i had on a contract with Vodafone
I am now with Orange and have tried to simply put my Orange Sim into it......it doesnt work
Is there anyway that i can unlock it.....pref for free and straight away
While I've never come across a free unlock, carriers are liberally unlocking more devices as time progresses.
What I'd suggest:
1) Buy one online, eBay, or some other SIM-unlock website. ~$15 when I bought it, could be significantly cheaper now. It's fast, very safe, but not free.
2) Ask Vodafone. Since you're out of contract and service with them, if they aren't too different from carriers here in Canada, they'll gladly give you a free or cheaper unlock via phone.
3) Lie. When I bought my ATT HTC One X, it kept saying IMEI blocked on the Sense 4 lock screen. It was purchased 3rd party so I was thinking that it was a stolen device. This wasn't the case and the ATT rep on the phone gave me a free unlock code. Where the lie comes into this is, try retelling my problem in order to claim your unlock code, with the highest sympathies of Vodafone CS, and probably for free.

Sim unlock of T-Mobile HTC One

I heard from several T-Mobile HTC owners that they tried to unlock it from some websites but after paying $25 they found out that those sites don't have the unlock code for the T-Mobile version of HTC.
I can't unlock it by calling T-Mobile as I'm on prepaid and I only use T-Mobile about 15 days a year when travelling through the states so I'm looking for a site that somebody has had success unlocking T-Mobile HTC One.
If you were able to get it sim unlocked, please, list the site and the cost.
I asked for the sim unlock yesterday at tmobile, they replied today.
HTC denied it because we have to wait 40 days of use first.. or pay your bill, I will call them back.
edit: its not HTC its Tmobile that denied it, they want users to use the phone for 40 days,
edit: im calling them back right now, cause I did pay it in full. they are going to put another request to HTC.
thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. We have received your SIM Unlock Request. Unfortunately, we are unable to process your request at this time because your Equipment Installment Plan is not paid in full. You can make a payment by logging into the T-Mobile Web Site www.T-Mobile.com, through our automated system by dialing 611 from your handset or 1-800-937-8997 from a landline phone. I've been T-Mobile's PrePaid customer since 2011. Bought HTC One on launch day, called them that first weekend, and my phone was unlocked within 24hrs, on a Weekend!!!
I did buy it at full price.
That said, my gf's iPhone 5 they won't unlock for 40days even though it's paid in full... weird.

I wouldn't know if the seller had it paid in full and even if I know I can't ask T-Mobile to unlock it as I don't have a receipt. I'm in Canada and the phones price from T-mobile in US on a plan is $579+tax but I'm not on a plan, I'm on pre-paid, if you are on pre-paid, you can't buy the phone online or by calling T-mobile, if you find a store that carries them then they will tell you the full price for pre-paid customers is $650+tax but some pre-paid customers said that when they run it through the price comes out at $610+tax for pre-paid plans. When I talked to a TMO store on a couple of occasions they all said both times that I would need to pay $650+tax, not $610. Either way it's quite more than $570 that I paid on craigslist for a new phone even if I have to pay $25 to get it unlocked online.
That's not my point where I bought it from. My question for this thread was: Has anyone been able to successfully sim unlock it from those online sites? If yes, what site was it and what was the price
okay peeps... check it out, I understand why some had there unlock codes given to them..
find someone that has a T-Mobile acct, prepaid or contract, it doesn't matter, I have received my unlock codes from T-Mobile with prepaid also..
I remembered they did that to me along time ago. the reason they said I can have it at the end of the month, it will be 40 days of service on May 28.
so if you have a friend that u know who has been with T-Mobile for over 40 or more days of service in good standing, and they also have to be using the phone for at least 5 days with there sim card on the phone, they will release the unlock code.
they can tell if they have been using the phone with the existing sim. u can unlock 1 phone every 90 days.

Hi there,
I tried unlocking my phone from htconlineunlock.com . It did generate a code for me. But when I put that into my phone it says incorrect pin.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Do not try to unlock using cellunlocker.net, at least until confirmed working. I checked my IMEI and chose US T-Mobile for my operator and they confirmed it as unlock code available. I paid $25 but didn't receive a code. 12 hours later I got a refund with a message that the phone is too new asking to check again in a couple of weeks once they update their database.

Try it several times, I heard that for some it may take as many as 6 attempts and then it finally takes the code. If not, ask them for refund. I didn't get a code from cellunlocker.net and even didn't have a chance to ask for refund, they just did it once they found out they couldn't get the code for me.

I guess then you can request a refund from them.
Hopefully we'll have someone successfully unlock it from one of those sites and will have a report here as to what site it was. I'm eagerly waiting to get it unlocked. I already cut my sim card to micro size and am currently using it in my old HTC Amaze with the leftover plastic that I use as an adapter for the smaller sim.

Im just doubtful about one thing. I bought the phone from the US. But im Home (india) for the summer and was trying to use the indian sim to unlock it. Can that be the problem? Like do I need an at&t or some other US carrier sim to unlock it?
I am in the same boat. Bought an HTC one from a US owner eyeing on the fact that it has 1700Mhz support so I can run it on my Wind Mobile network. I need a code now it's impossible for me to use the T-mobile service for 60 days when I'm physically not there.

That's exactly my story. I do have a prepaid account on T-Mobile (their $3/per day plan) but I only use it about ten days a year and I think they ask to use it actively like every day for 60 days for pre paid accounts in order to unlock, but even if I do, I still won't be able to do that as I don't have a receipt.
I guess we just have to be patient and wait till one of those unlocking sites gets T-Mobile codes on their database
Im in the same boat too.
Bought this phone in the US and was told by the rep that customer service would unlock it. Well ive tried 3 different times and they keep refusing. Also ive tried about 10 different online unlock services, all have failed. I really dont wanna have to sell this phone back into the US because it cost me over $800 after import duty and i'd get nowhere near that. And of all the friends that i have in the US, none of them have service with t-mo or know anyone who does. Is t-mo really that ****ty?
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, please share.
I tried www.myhtcunlock.com last night. Paid $35. In the morning I received a refund from them with a message that the phone is too new asking to try again in a couple of weeks.
If anyone is successful in unlocking it from a site, let us know what site it was.
I've used htcsimunlock.com a few times. It usually comes out to $15-20, but they have not disappointed me yet.

Sony z3 tablet lte 4g o2 unlock

i just bought the lte o2 version does anyone in uk have the o2 lte tablet is it unlocked to put another network sim in it?
Well i tried a different sim indeed o2 are locking them what would be the cheapest way to unlock.
Yeah had the same issue when I went to put an EE sim in. Used a website called GuaranteedUnlock to get a network unlock code (I'm not affiliated with this site at all). £25 and it took around 5 days to get the code.
Think i am going to have to do this too o2 want me to use their network for 12 months before they will unlock it what a joke i paid for it in full upfront any where else cheaper than this to unlock £25 is steep.
Yeh they told me the same thing. I've got a business contract with EE so added a data sim for the Z3TC.
I did do some investigation into cheaper places but couldn't find anywhere else that did the tab, only the Z3 (which as I understand is pretty much the same). £25 seems steep but it's not that much more than O2 charge. Only problem I've got now is the O2 branding, so waiting for a generic rom to stick on it with FlashTool, but this sub seems really dead? Thought it'd be a popular product.
Its too early yet not been out long i would give it at least few months.
Anyone else got a cheaper unlock for o2 for this tablet please let us know thanks.
I have submitted a unlock code request from
https://www.safeunlockcode.com/sony-ericsson/unlock-xperia-z3-tablet-compact comes to £23.10 uk pounds let's see what happens.
Ok guys its a thumbs up here is my video of the unlock process its very easy and it worked cheapest unlock too.
http://youtu.be/A3_TMrnlkPo
They have a promotion offer if you upload your YouTube video you get 50% refunded back so this unlock only cost me £11.55 bargain here are the details to get 50% back https://www.safeunlockcode.com/giveaways/get-50-cash-back
i know this is a old thread but ive googled and also need to unlock one? is this still the cheapest method?
I ended up getting mine from MobileUnlocked.com - I think it was about £20. Be careful, a lot of the providers don't seem to have the Z3TC as an unlock possibility. I had to get my money back from unlockonline.com as they couldn't get a code for about 3 weeks.
