[Q] Can't download from market on every rom - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I thought I was having a Cyanogen issue, but it turns out this is happening with every rom I've tried. I'll get the rom(Cyanogen 7 stable, latest nightly, Vegan Ginger edition, Calkulin's) and when I try and download a rom, it begins the download then stops, telling me "download was unsuccessful, please try again". I used to be able to get twenty or so apps installed before this became an issue, but now it starts right out the gate. I've NVFlashed a couple of times, still get this happening. I've partitioned the memory(2048/0 I believe), so that's not the issue. Also tried clearing market data, etc, nothing. I'll try another NVFlash tonight, but does anyone have a simpler solution?

Have you tried TNT 4.4 yet?
I love the ability to push from my PC's browser Market and with my TNT 4.4 ROM, it recognizes as Malata TNT Lite 4.4 and works perfectly.
After 3 weeks of flashing/reflashing, I found TNT 4.4 is the most solid, stable ROM and worth to use.
I really enjoy my tablet with TNT 4.4 now rather than flashing...flashing. The part I love the most is my Gtablet TNT 4.4 Market fully functional so I can make the software purchase from my PC browser and push from there....
Good luck!

No, it's not a rom specific issue, it's a problem with my tablet. I cannot download anything from the market with my main Gmail account. Read a post from another forum member with the same problem, and he found something interesting.

As I type this, I'm downloading all the apps that I was unable to download with my "usual" account. So maybe there's a bug on Google's side? How would I even go about fixing that?

I signed in with a different Gmail account, and sure enough I can download anything with that, just not my "main" Gmail account. I guess I could go on with a different Gmail account for my tablet, but I have so many paid apps that I'd like to use on my G-Tab.

Please Help

I am running Vegen 5.1, I did the market fix, Everything was working fine.
I tried to buy bejeweled, and for some reason it would not download, It kept saying the download is starting, and it would show the downloading arrow in the notifications for about 3 seconds, then disappear, and nothing downloads.
Now I have tried to download different apps, and nothing will download?
I have ran thru the market fix steps 2 times again now, and that does not work.
Please can someone help me?
Common issue tonight....dont panic. I am guessing it relates to Googles conference Wednesday. Perhaps they are doing something. I had the issue...rebooted and was able to download the app I couldnt previously.
Sent from my Viewsonic 10" GTab...
Sounds like issue with your SD partition. You will need to repartition your internal to 2048/0. This is documented on the first post of the Vegan thread.
Well, I tried to do some stuff, and now I am stuck in bootloop.
On market Help from google, it said to go the mangae Apps Markey, and uninstall update.
So I did that.
Then I rebooted.
Then I did Market Fix steps.
Then I rebooted, now all it does is continue to boot.
Anyone? Please?
what im so lost
best actionis to install sgs tools apk. Apply script, market fix
Ok, I did the partition.
Now it boots back up, however everything looks like I just did a factoy reset, and things still don't download.
Where do I find sgs tools apk. Apply script, market fix
Market is having issues for ever device, including market supported phones...randomly tonight. Possible cause = Google conference tomorrow and possible market enhancements being announced.

I see, so I created a bunch of work for myself in the name of learning.
I bascially just started ever with the reinstalling of the rom.
On the plus side, when you learn the most is when things go wrong. And I feel your pain - I had to reload everything from a bootloop as well

Fix
I had the same problem last night. I got it to download by going into settings/applications/system applications and clearing the data in the download manager. I had to do it for every download. BTW It seems to be working fine this morning.
...in the same boat

Hi all,
I didn't want to start a new thread but I hope someone sees this one as the main title is not descriptive at all.
I got my new gtablet three days ago (not a woot) and have been trying different roms (TNT 4.3.1 / Vegan 5.1) with no luck in the android market. As in the first topic, I tried the fixes for the market, clearing cache, data, even re-partitioning to make sure partition was 2048 | 0, turning off firewall in my router... EVERYTHING! I can see all the applications but as soon as I click to install it keeps in "starting downloading..." and could be there for hours without downloading a single bit.
Early in this topic the speculation was a google conference taking place but... that was February! Is anybody experimenting the same (frustration, haha)? How can I identify where the problem could be?
Thanks in advanece!

[Q] market woes Vegan 7 Experimental

Using the latest Vegan experimental build based on gingerbread and loving it. However the market is kicking my butt. It opens and shows apps, although not all apps, and even shows that i have purchased some apps if i come across them in my searches. However the "My Apps" tab is always empty, showing no downloads. I've tried all market fixes i could find and have used market enabler to no avail. Am i the only one with this issue? I should mention that the market was working before with TNT 4.2 and then with Vegan 5.1. Help is appreciated!

seems to be a gingerbread issue with our tabs for the moment. Can't purchase apps either.
Ok,well there is some comfort in numbers! Just curious if i had done something wrong with the install and was the only one havong the problem. Thanks for the info, i'll just keep watching the forums.
Has there been any status on this? Running latest Vegan-Tab 7 Experimental, and now my market myapps is empty as well.
Been using app center app (found in apps section of this forum) to fill in the missing holes from market place works rather well
I've tried every flavor of Gingerbread rom, and it's the same thing on all. When you first install GAPPs, and open the market, everything installed and all purchased apps show up in the "My Apps" section, but as market or something updates, and as soon as you exit that first time it's empty since. When I flashed the latest version of Vegan Ginger back on the 8th I used the universal CM7 gapps off the cyanogen wiki page.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version#Viewsonic_G_Tablet
I've still had the empty "My Apps" but am able to download and purchase apps with no problems. As best as I can tell, I have as close to full market as you can get. (Haven't searched for anything that I couldn't find)
Can't find the Market App on Vegan Gingerbread experimental.
Greeting,
I rooted my Gtablet with latest Vegan Gingerbread experimental.
It all went smooth until
Part Three – Install Flash and fix Android Market
Step 3.
Open the Market app. Once it loads close it (press the home button).
I installed flash, but I can't find the Market App of Step 3. Is that expected?
The tablet functions really well in everything else.
Thanks
It's labeled Experimental for a reason. I'm sure when Gojimi gets back from vacation he'll have more time to get more up to date on some of the cm7 fixes. This issue is known in the thread for that rom. If you need a stable market go to 5.1.1. Me I'm dealing with the market woes for now myself.

I wouldn't follow the walkthrough for that step. On the vegan gingerbread thread, gojimi put the market update file there to download. It's on the first post of the thread. Once you install the market with clockwork you can find flash 10.2 in the market. The walkthrough you're following links to 10.1

Thanks,
This tip help clear out my confusion. I expected the market to be there. I had no idea it needed to be installed on it own.
Thanks again
My newbie two-cents
I soft bricked my gtab one hour out of the box, but thanks to the Almighty and you guys I'm running vegan-7 and loving it. Market works great and so does flash. This was my first Rom mode, but it won't be my last. Thanks to all who post here and let the games begin.

[Q] First experience with Android

Hi all,
I am new to android. First time using it and really know nothing about it.
Bought the G tab at woot. I am knowledgeable with computers, so I hope that helps. Over 50, so need your help here.
I have spent a decent amount of time looking through these forums and there is so much information here, it is hard to discerne what is relevant for me.
I did the OTA update. I do not have an sd card, so all will be through the usb to my home computer.
I have played with the gtab a bit, but I figure, before I go and do a bunch of setup for the family and download apps that if I am going to root it, I may as well do it now. Those of you with experience using it don't like viewsonics version, so I assume that these ROM's must be so much better.
From this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842004
it reads that if I have stock gtab, I can simply install TnTLite 4.4 without clockworkmod. I assume then that without colckworkmod, I can't clear the cache or datafiles. Do I really need nvfLASH? I read it and it sounds a bit confusing.
I read that you should repartition the gtab. I looked and can't find out how to do this. Is this before or after you run the mod?
For the market fix, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845175
I follow the link to download the zip file. When I download apps from the computer, where on the gtab do they go to unzip them?
What does sideload mean? What do you mean when you say make sure that market is working with your google id? do i need a gmail account?
On a side note, the gtab will not load up my yahoo mail account? hmmm, is that correct? My wife has an old aol account that she uses and she said she can't respond to emails, that is true also?
Thanks in advance,
Kozmokrmr
Lots of questions... let's see what we can do here...
Yes, You can setup TnTLite 4.4 without ClockworkMod. However, CWM is included in the install as part of the 3588 Recovery Pack. You can actually switch it in and out as needed for the purposes of clearing caches and wiping data.
Repartitioning is one of the advanced functions of ClockworkMod. You will not likely find it necessary unless you're doing lots of modding (or are particularly anal about procedure, like I am...).
It doesn't really matter where you download or unzip files to as long as you know where they are. I leave them in the default download folder or create a folder for the particular project on one of the sdcards. Sideloading consists of downloading an app's .apk file to the tablet then installing it without using the market. Most file managers (including the one included on the gtab) do this with a click or two.
Yes you will need a gmail account to make the market work. When you start it the first time it will ask for your gmail credentials to log in.
There is a Yahoo mail (and IM) client/app. Not sure about AOL. But either can be accessed through the web browser.
All that being said... if you are planning on using the "Family" accounts setup that comes stock on the G Tablet you'll want to try that before loading any custom ROM. They all replace the contacts app which is required for that to work. I'm not sure if any of the custom ROM's supports any kind of multi user setup.
Thank you K J Rad
To enter clockworkmod, then just use the power and volume up to access clockworkmod from 3588 update? Then do the data and cache clearing? Is clockworkmod, just a tool to do a few system functions?
Ok, then I won't worry about repartitioning.
Hmm, alright, I guess I'll just give the sideloading a go and see what happens.
About NVFlash, should I worry about it or is it only for the guys who switch out roms and play around with it? I figure, once I install a mod, other than maybe updating the rom, I won't be yanking around with it like this anymore.
Ok, then we'll get a few gmail accounts. Thanks.
The internet on the gtab wouldn't access my yahoo. Possibly I need to upgrade yahoo to the paid version to get the pop account.
The AOL account could be read, but she couldn't reply to any emails. Possibly the same problem there.
No big deal about the family accounts, we don't need them. Its not an issue.
The people here I read that have issues (not booting up, stuck in a loop, etc.) have what? done a step wrong, played around a bit too much or just one of those odd software flukes that catches some guys?
So there really is a BIG difference in the stock rom and the modded roms's, yes?
Thanks again.
Power and Volume Up enter "Recovery Mode." If ClockworkMod is installed then that is what you will get. Otherwise you'll get the stock recovery. 3588 does not install CWM. There is a very good thread "Stickied" in the development section about installing Clockwork, ROMs, etc. Once you've got that installed the instructions for installing TnTLite 4.4 and switching between the two types of recovery are in the stickied TnTLite thread. I usually do a data wipe before and after installing a ROM (it works for me... YMMV).
Knowing how to nvflash could be the difference between nirvana and complete disgust. It may never come up but if it does then you will be thrilled that you know how.
Once you have the market installed and working download a better browser. I use Dolphin HD and it works with my Yahoo account just fine (after you tinker with it's settings a bit...). Probably work fine for AOL also. If not, try Opera Mobile.
Any number of things can cause the issues you'll see posted about here. I've suffered magic number mismatch, boot loop, FC's... the whole gamut. If you get comfortable with the tools then you'll be able to recover from anything. Good practices will also lead to greater success. For example, when I'm flashing to a new ROM I do the following:
1) Cache and Data wipe.
2) nvflash to Factory install.
3) Update to 1.1-3588 build.
4) Data wipe (probably not necessary but wth...)
5) Proceed with update.
For experimental builds I modify that to include repartitioning.
Following this procedure has reduced my occurances of unexpected issues to near zero (I don't always remember to do every step...).
Yes... the custom ROMs are "Better" but better is subjective. I like TwoTapsX for its speed and stability though it does suffer from a few video artifacts from time to time. TnTLite is a good solid daily driver for the average user. VEGAn is popular with a lot of power users. Each has its tradeoffs and even the stock ROM has some advantages (easy to use custom interface, decent basic set of integrated apps, settings optimized to reduce confusing options).
Welcome and enjoy.

[Q] Market Apps Fail to Download

A HUGE thanks in advance for any help you can offer:
I have a Viesonic G-Tablet, and I've flashed a couple of different ROM's on it - TNT Lite 4.4 and VEGAn-TAB 7.0 RC1.
LOOOOONG story short:
Tried to install Ubuntu, no luck.
Downloaded ZPad to try it out, installed. Didn't like it, used ClocworkMod to recover to a previous TNT Lite 4.4 install. From there, reflashed to Vegan...
And that's when the problems started. Namely, Market no longer works properly. None of my downloads are successful. It gives a "Download error - Download was unsuccessful, please try again."
So, after trying again to go back to TNT Lite and having the same trouble, I NVFlashed back to stock, wiped EVERYTHING per the directions on XDA, in the order prescribed - did everything by-the-book, and still no luck on any ROM. TNT Lite, Vegan - both of them adamantly refuse to download anything from the market.
I've searched to my wits end not only in this thread, but others as well. I've reset the data, reset the cache, uninstalled the market update - you name it, I've tried it.
Could it be your internet connection? Do other devices on your network download from the internet fine?
Thanks for the question. I guess I should have been a little more specific: Yes, great connection. I can browse the web fine, even download from Amazon's appstore - but that's where it ends. The weirdest thing is that I have noticed that I can download Firefox from the Marketplace, but literally - that's it. Nothing else, and I've tried close to 40 different apps now. All fail to download.
I've tried clearing the cache, etc...
I was even desperate enough to pretty much do a system wipe and come up clean. I used ClockworkMod to format everything - even the SDcard. Made sure to set the partition size to 2048/0, the whole nine yards. Wiped all the data, cleared/formatted cache, so I'm at a loss.
*UPDATE 4/18/11 - On a whim, I decided to use ClockworkMod to reset my User Data, and signed my tablet in under another Google account I had. As I type this, I'm downloading all the apps that I was unable to download with my "usual" account. So maybe there's a bug on Google's side? How would I even go about fixing that?
I'm having this same problem. NVFLASH and reFLASH numerous times and still no luck can someone please help. Can't install anything from market at all. it download and as soon as it finish dl and start to install it will restarted itself and nothing happen. please help. THanks
Exact problem I'm having. I've tried five different roms, from Vegan to CM7, to older TnT's and Calkulin's, nothing will let me download and install from the market. I did yet another full NVFlash last night and repartitioned the tablet, still no luck after flashing CM7. It started off allowing me to download a few dozen apps then giving me the download error, but now the first app I try gives me that.
Did anyone else here come down from TwoTapsX or another 1.2 based rom? Seems to me the issue started right about the time I NVFlashed down from that.

I just tried this myself, sure enough I can download with another Gmail account, but not my main one.
This has to be an issue with Google...I am having the same issue also.
How the hell did I quote myself up there?
Mine is downloading again, all I did was sign in as my backup account, wipe data and dalvik cache, reflash then fix permissions. When i logged in again it worked. Don't know which step actuallly fixed it.
I just deleted the data under app management and they started working again for me.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
I had the same. Uninstalling Flash player seem to have solved the issue for me
Me too
I seem to have the same problem however I do not get an error message at all, I just see the application in the notification bar preparing to download except instead of even downloading it basically just disappears. I had this problem ever since installing Vegan tab 5.1.1.
I had the same problem...drove me crazy...finally figured out that you can just log intp the market on my laptop and install everything from there....

adobe flash won't update

I have Vegan-tab gingerbread 7.0RC1 pershoot bl1.2.
Flash no longer shows up on my installed apps. When i search for it, It says it is not compatible for my device, google maps does the same thing too. Does anyone else have this problem too. I just noticed it last week.

Yeah, that was the only problem I had with that ROM. It seemed to always happen for me when the tablet would hard freeze and I had to reboot. Once it boots back up, anytime I access the Market, everything was not compatible with GTab.
I never found a solution other than returning to HC. It was a good ROM and that was the only prob I had with it.
Does [BL1.2]VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition v7.1.0 solve this issue?
Yes, it is much better running Vending 3.1.3.
If you have superuser rights, use AntTek App Manager to backup flash, than delete it from system (even sys application version), the Hulufied version from ASOP Ginger posts. You might need to install, update from market, remove, and install Hulufied version to stick.
Just download it on the PC..then hook up your GTab to the PC...drag the Flash 10.3 (Yes that one will work) into the storage on the device. Then download it from there.
All the apps (And there was ALOT) that shows up Non Compatible with your device in the Market...will actually work if you do it that way.
Thank you for all the responses. I went for the upgrade option to Vegantab 7.1. I am very pleased.
