First Rom - How i can upload? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have done these works :
1. Removed full battery notification
2. Installed supercurio kernel
3. Removed touchwiz launcher (replaced with the stock gingerbread of the nexus s 9020)
4. Removed all Samsung stuff (unuseful) except voice commands and dlna.
Now i would share this with all the comunity, but how i can do this ?
(i can't do a nandroid backup because clockworkmod isn't avaible).
Please, help me, this phone it's terrible with all samsung customization!

Think you should have posted this in Q&A

do you have the final product file in .zip format or .tar format ???
if its in the latter format, we can flash this file using ODIN as PDA......
otherwise i think its difficult without a custom recovery..... waiting for Supercurio .....

Omega v5.2 ROM (default version) vs stock firmware

Hi,
I read up on the Omega v5.2 ROM and it looks very good. I just want to know from those who are already using it, how much better performance is it using the recommended version whcih I think is called the "Default" vs the stock firmware? It is that much smoother and better battery performance?

No its far to early to be better by anything but a very small margin .
Battery performance is down to the user not the firmware .

Would you happen to know what apps are removed in the "Bloated Apps Removed version" of the ROM? I can't find the list of apps the developer removed.

Tried Omega 4.2 and 5.2 briefly. Both times it broke Navigon and the camera hung on me. Don't see any benefit of the Hyperx mod. 5.2 caused my phone to warm up noticably.
So you wouldn't recommend 5.2? Also, if I do decide to flash it, do I need to do a full wipe in CWM before I flash it or can I just flash it from stock in CWM?

Have you done ANY research in the main thread? I don't think so, as all of this is covered there, including instructions (theres even a video to walk you through it). Don't be lazy.

A full wipe is the recommend, because then you have a clean installation and you beware of strange failures.
An instruction how you should flash Omega ROM is in the development thread (4th post) --> Installation Guide
I don't know if your phone is rootet yet, if so skip the first step and start with booting in CWM recovery.
Had used Omega on my SGS II, now using Omega on SGS III since 3.0. Works great for me, no errors whatsoever.
Omega 5.2 is flawless ok but hyper x mod is useless. It creates noise in video recording. No need to use 30mbps bit rate but if in future 60fps recording come true it will be a charm!!

You have to install it with CWM:
1. Reboot to Recovery (CWM-Menu)
2. Select the zip-File
3. Enjoy
Looking at the tutorial video where it shows Omega 3 being installed on a stock rom where it says "no wipe necessary"
Does the same apply to version 6 ? as my rom is stock & rooted, will all my apps/widgets be lost or recoverable with Titanium, this will be my first custom rom and its looking great, thanks for your patience

[4.1.2][CWM]Stock Samsung Rom[Deodexed][Root]

Hi All
Just finished compiling the Original Samsung 4.1.2 test firmware for CWM flashing
No changes has been made at all except Root that has been added and everything being DEODEXED
Its being uploaded atm to my Google Drive account so it should be easier to download and I will post the link as soon as its up and shared.
Please be aware of the following:
1. This is completely stock with the stock kernel that has the brick bug in it SO DON'T FORMAT EMMC AFTER YOU INSTALL IT
2. It will remove CMW and CMW needs to be installed again with Mobile odin or Odin pc.
Installation should be as per any other CWM rom:
1. Copy to SD card
2. Wipe data/factory
3. Install from the SD
4. Clear Dalvic and reboot
If you want to move away from this rom follow the following steps just to be save:
1. Use mobile odin or Odin pc to install CMW
2. Flash any other kernel like Siyah or similar
3. Do a EMMC format - ONLY AFTER STEP 2. Please dont forget to flash a non brickbug kernel 1st
4. Install other rom as desired
Download Link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998205
Thanks to LegendK for eventually finding the way
Additional Installs:
Philz Kernel removing Brick bug - Flash it through recovery mode
Philz Kernel removing Brick bug - Flash through Odin
Thanks PhilZ
Additional Notes:
After installing the Rom please install one of the "Additional Installs" kernels to remove the brick bug. Once done use Rom as usual
good job

Much obliged, I'm super keen to try this new version, only drama I'm a bit n00b-ish when it comes to creating a CWM-flashable ZIP from what we can grab from SamFirmwares and I'd prefer to be able to hack the apk's and Media folder before I throw it into my i9100. Looking forward to getting hold of what you've cooked up...
ADD: Oh yeh, from what I've heard, the Philz-CWM6 kernel is supposed to be the best for this F/W, check out his thread...

looks good!!!!
Hope you can repack it with the PhilZ kernel(no eMMC brick bug) if there is time! You would save a lot of n00bs breaking their device! Just my 2 cents!

Hi aslak89,
Thank you for the port.
Currently I am running Stock 4.0.3 on a i9100 which is a converted SHW-M250S.
Just to confirm, please comment on the below steps if my understanding is correct.
Now, for me to install your updated ROM,
First I should flash Jelly Bean KSJMB1 for M250S (my converted i9100 back to M250S using a Korean M250S JB PIT file [with a different partition size than the regular M250S PIT file] and by using Odin.
Then, install your SHW-M250S_MB1_DisasterMOD_ROM_V2.zip using CWM? (If I flash the stock JB KSJMB1, How will I be able to get the temporary CWM?) (Or should I check for a pre-rooted JB KSJMB1?)
Could you please post the rooted version link if you have?
I am downloading the file from https://hotfile.com/dl/194281908/deb93f2/M250SKSJMB1_ROOT.ZIP.html and hope it will be a rooted version.
Could you please be a little elaborative in your steps for such scenarios? (cases the user has converted M250S to i9100)
Also does this has any fix to remove the 80 character SMS limitation, dialer issues, and other usability issues like extremly off-compass and GPS and very low vibration issues?
I believe the vibration, compass and gps should be fixed by moving to JB KSJMB1, but I just wanted to know about the SMS issue and dialer issue. Atleast if the SMS is fixed, I can live with the dialer!!!
Thanks for all the hardwork and I am willing to move back to M250S because of the above mentioned issues! I just hate the low vibration becoz most of the time, the phone will be on vibration mode due to my nature of work!!!
Sorry for asking too many questions and dumping them in a single post, but I have nobody to ask but you about the modified rom for M250S!! Not many seem to be knowledgeable about it too!!

Yes. That's correct. Just flash the firmware with pit file through Odin, and flash this rom through CWM. But, it isn't necessary to use rooted firmware because it simply overwrites the whole system partition.(and this rom is rooted)
You can download temporary CWM from clockworkmod.com, and you may flash it through stock recovery to use it(external sdcard needed!)
I was using XXLSJ(GT-I9100 JB leaked) before flashing this rom, and there wasn't any problem except that the internal sdcard was wiped out.
For some bugs(?) you mentioned, I never had any of these problems, so I can't answer for them. Sorry

I have updated the JB ROM and I have installed the SHW-M250S_MB1_DisasterMOD_ROM_V2.zip with a temporary CWM!
But still the SMS limit is only 80 characters, but all other issues seem to be fixed. GPS and Compass are working as expected.
Could you please tell me if I have to install the UPDATE_DisasterMOD_V2.zip too after installing the above ROM update?
Also, is there any system level fix for the 80 character sms limitation with Disaster ROM update? I know I can install another application to handle SMS, but some banking apps do not work in India due to the 80 Character limitation!
Thanks for everything!!

It can be flashed directly from MB1 using either CWM or Tegrak Recovery. In case of me, I used Tegrak Recovery for flashing the updated one. It seems like u haven't noticed that you can both root ur device and flash the rom using a kernel from Tegrak which is recently updated to MB2 based.

I Flashed CWM 5110 Ex#4 with Odin on my Note with auto reboot off. Rebooted into Recovery to check that I had CWM, I did and then rebooted. CWM asked if I wanted to make this my permanent recovery. I said yes. Note then rebooted. I installed Goo Manager so I could easily reboot into Recovery. Did a nandroid backup of my Note's Rom for safety, downloaded the zip file and saved it to my external sdcard (you could use your internal memory) and flashed it. Worked perfectly. I did have to reformat my 64gb sdcard to Fat32 for CWM to recognize it.

Just as an aside, if you do flash this, some of the prepackaged samsung apps will detect root and will exit upon trying to run them. I dont use those apps anyway, but if you do its just a forewarning

One of the best Roms for the S3 was developed by enewman. He started out with the base Rom like you provided and then did a cookbook approach where he provided zippable Mods for things like 4 way reboot, battery icons, etc. This allow you to flash and modify the rom to your choosing. He later developed his own Rom, the Devils Reject. But the initial effort was successful in giving us the ability to modify our Rom. Any chance we can get something like this started until you have the opportunity to develop you own Rom?
Anyone noticed samsung is going backwards with this firmware with regards to auto brightness slider?
JKAY DELUXE [I9300 JB 4.1.2]

[ROM] 100% Stock 4.2.2 GT-P5200(3G) [Deodexed/Rooted build also available]

This is a completely 100% stock rom built from the P5200XXUAMK8 base. It's in flashable zip format, but there is absolutely no tweaking done to this rom; its primary purpose is as a base for anyone wanting to build a mod rom for the P5200 3G, as well as being there for anyone who wants to return stock without odin.
As it is 100% stock it's fully bloated, odexed, and non-rooted. You can attain root by flashing root.zip (not included in this post, but it's in the main forum) thus, if you have any complaints, bring them to Samsung, not me. Flashing instructions and download link below.
Edit: I've now also posted a deodexed + rooted build. See download link below. No other changes have been made to this version besides deodex/root.
Flashing instructions:
-Full wipe (factory reset in twrp)
-flash ROM
-reboot, let sit for about 10 minutes
-You're now 100% stock. Enjoy!

I think it's just a region difference, will work just fine on your tab though, there's no difference in the internals
Just changed hosts to mediafire due to reports of problems with mega
just added a deodexed / rooted build. No other changes have been made to the second build

Would you please make a mirror maybe at mega? I think mediafire sucks really hard. Just visit it without adblick and you know why
