[Q] Does the TB have different colored LEDs? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am coming from the Droid 1 were I was able to setup different colored LED notifications based on different events. When I switched over to the Thunderbolt I can't seem to get those same options. Does the TB only have two LEDs?
For example, in Handcent I was able to set a different color LED depending on who sent me a text, now when I try to set that option it will not open the color selector. Same goes for TouchDown Exchange, I cannot customize the color of the LED.
Thank you.

I am also wondering about this feature. I know its been covered but I'm on my phone and don't feel like looking. But I think it has something to do with htc software or something like that

The only options are orange and green sorry.

Is that a software or hardware limitation?

Such a shame. But hey, who needs to change the LEDs to pink? this guy!

Looks like you need a Moto phone.

lol. nah, sarcasm ftw. I came from the OG to the thunder. Never really cared for the LED color changes.

I personally liked being able to set a different LED color for my txt messages, made it easy to see if I had something waiting when My volume is off at work.
Minor detail though, that I barely miss now. I can just turn off the led notification for anything else, has the same effect. It's almost invisible behind the speaker cover though, the led on the TB is really only useful for determining when it is fully charged IMO.

I went from the droid to the fascinate and had no LED. Now I went from the fascinate to the thunderbolt, and I'm very happy to have any led.

quick question about the LED's guys... sometimes i look at my phone and no lights are blinking but then i look and i have new texts. i havent changed any settings regarding led lights or downloaded any apps to change them. are they suppposed to stop blinking after a while or is something wrong? i remember on my old droid one they would keep blinking untill i checked it, but then again that was a motorola phone... thanks in advance

[Q] Capacitive Keys as notifiers?

I am thinking about getting a vibrant and have been reading about a lack of notification LED. This isn't a deal breaker for me, but i was curious if there was a way to get the capacitive keys to blink to act as a notifier? Thank you for your time.
Or you

Or you can go to the market and download an app called NO LED. No led turns the Vibrant's screen into a notifier. Its a very cool and useful app. People are often amazed when they see my phone's screen light up with icons instead of the traditional notification led.

You can also download a kernel that allows you to enable backlight notification through Clockwork. For example, if you're on 2.2, you can flash one of Eugene373's kernels available here: http://eb-productions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=samsungsgs&action=display&thread=28. This allows you to use the capacitative keys as a notifier. They will not blink, though; they just stay lit.
I honestly wouldn't recommend the capacitive keys as the notifier if they do not blink because it well eventually kill the battery and bulb/led. I personally recommend NO LED since it blinks and also the notifier/led icon jumps all across the screen instead of lighting up in one spot so it doesn't burn out the pixel/led. I hope I've made some sort of sense. Sometimes I can confuse others.

Thanks for the quick responses. I had seen NoLed only as a colored dot, but after looking up some more videos and what not, this looks like a great app, even better than a flashing light at the top corner of the phone. I will definitely picking up a vibrant or a nexus s within a couple weeks. Thank you

pretty much the only known way to use the capacitative keys to act as a notifier is flashing the ULF kernel or eugenes(im sure some of eugenes kernels are based off ULF). personally i wouldnt use ULF as it has poor coding and does corrupt RFS overtime. im waiting for supercurio to code a voodoo kernel that uses the button notifier as he seems like a more experienced dev and avid debugger

LED as notification indicator?

So I just noticed there is a red LED on the phone, However I've only seen it enabled whilst in call (Am I the only one who hasn't noticed it before?) So anyway, I'm curious to weather someone would be willing to go about and help trying to be able to have it on when you have a notification, Or if there already is a mod? Anyway, Thanks
That's a proximity sensor, not led

It's a proximity sensor, this sensor ensures that the screen turns off when you are in a call.
Oh Damn, Dissapointed Would you be able to have it on anyway? But I guess it'd kill the battery?
That Red LED is barely noticeable unless you are in complete dark!
Anyway, you should read this,

Notification LED?

I see people mention the LED but in store there's never any conectivity. Usually the same thing with videos on YT. Can anyone confirm an RGB notification led?
Any links to a video would be a plus. Coming from N1 can't take the galaxy nexus delays and VZ exclusivity so hoping not to miss too many features.
RGB notification led of the sort. The only colors I've seen it do is orange and green. Also compare the specs that are released for the Nexus Prime and the Ruby and the Ruby wins 9 out of 10 times on the hardware.

Green, red and amber (orange) only, not RGB.
Red only shows up on extremely low battery.

Can you guys test this out with Handcent , Blink or any of the LED apps ?
I have to have sound off most of the day so colored notifications is a huge deal for me.
i will check it out i looked into the files in the system and it looks like theres stuff for blue but not sure how to enable it

I remember Nexus One had same issue. It was RGB but only white was accessible. LilHermit ((I think thats who it was))figured it out and unlocked it somehow way before Googles official update.

Hard key LED intensity

Has anyone else noticed that the LEDs behind the home and back button are the dimmest of any HTC phone so far ? Next to my regular one, a DNA, and a rezound you can almost barely see them! The display model and the vzw employees all looked the same.
Hoping a software fix is coming ..
Edit- these are the softkeys not hardkeys...

I personally am happy about that. First phone I have not wanted to turn the background light off completely.

I agree. I know in general where to press for the home and back soft keys so having them light up at all isn't that big of a deal.
+1 prefer the dim leds also....

Did you know that we have a tri-color notification LED?

Up until last night I'd always thought that the Ascend Mate 2 (MT2-L03) had a simple dual color notification LED. That being green and red (the combination of which makes orange or amber). I've always been kind of annoyed by this, since it severely hinders the ability to define multiple custom notification colors like I've been used to with Nexus and Motorola devices amongst others.
Last night while trying to do the official Huawei 'downgrade' to Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) my phone showed that the notification LED is in fact a tri-color one - indeed it's capable of displaying the color blue! I was sort of taken aback, and this makes me wonder why Huawei wouldn't enable the blue segment of the LED in the kernel itself. I'd love to be able to have an unlimited pallete of possible notification colors like I had with my old Galaxy Nexus.
Just something curious that I wanted to share....

The Dev just said he isn't. lol. And to add to that said that it is unable to pulse. So now its just a blue LED that stays on when your screen is off? hahaha.
Did it not pulse with that boot error? I remember seeing it back when but don't remember if it was solid.

I will check into it in a few. Just got home. Never seen mine do blue. But I didn't bother looking at it while it was doing that. Lol.
Well after trying simple stuff mine doesn't seem to be able to display blue. May be hardware variation too. Or they may have used combo to get the blue effect. Sending Hex did nothing.
U-ra said it was an after thought possibly by Huawei and is wired different. (Maybe that's what he said) lol

It definitely pulsed, as in blinked on and off. Maybe he was referring to full PWM control or something...
Who knows, the only time I've ever seen it light was during a failed attempt at using the Huawei flash back to Jelly Bean.
He also said it wasn't very bright, which I definitely disagree with because it was quite bright - easily as bright as I've ever seen the green and red segments light during normal operation of the handset.

Same for me. However if it isn't I kernel it still wouldn't work. Without the information about the hardware its a moot point. I will keep checking into it though. My curiosity will see to that. Lol.
Yeah, I would love to have blue as an option as well.
