"1. Upon receiving notification when deep sleep state of the terminal, wake_lock once
2. Thereafter, regardless of whether the lights blink or continuous LED, hold the wake_lock.
3. End event lighting from BLN Control App (access to sysfs) and release the regulator in wake_unlock.
4. migrate to deep sleep.

- kernels now have (v1.7+) clockworkmod modifications thanks to J_rodd. it gets rid of all the extra no's which are very annoying, also some other mods "more Amon_RA like"
-If you like it, head over to J_rodds thread to thank him
-J_rodds mods haven't been implemented on v1.8 (back in for v1.9)
-We all know that clockworkmod is the hard work of Koush and I take no credit for it. If you have any problems with this, please do not bother koush. please post here or pm me
*please read
a quick note about the buttons for recovery. "most" recoveries will use the volume rocker to move up and down and the home button to select. this recovery not only uses the volume rocker to move up and down but also the soft menu and home button respectively. the power button will select and the back soft key will go back.
by using using the soft menu, you can rapidly scroll down through all your files to the desired one...it also can be done with the volume rocker, but it takes a little longer...
*recovery keys
scroll up ↑ = volume+ or home
scroll down ↓ = volume- or menu
select ✓ = power
back ☇ = back (or highlight "++++go back++++")

-installation
2 different ways...
1st way: when no access to odin (or just plain sick of it) go to the market and get DarkyROM2 Tool
then I make a folder called zimage and then a subfolder with the kernel version
-extract the zimage from the .tar and place it in the "version folder"
-then flash/install file from SDCARD
2nd way:
-install as you would a rom through odin (using pda)
-put the phone in download mode by pressing (volume- & home & power), then volume+ to confirm
-doesn't wipe or no need to..
once you install the kernel, to get root...
-download the superuser attachment
-place superuser zip on your sd card
-power off phone
-then press and hold (volume+ & home & power)...keep holding until clockwork recovery pops up (takes 2 or 3 cycles)
-then flash su zip from sd
-also flash liblights from recovery for bln
-to remove yellow triangle
1st way;
-after you odin in a "jame bond" kernel (you will now have root)
-reboot, then back to download mode and install the stock kernel with odin.
-then reflash the "jame bond" kernel with DarkyROM2 Tool
2nd way;
-search galaxy jig on ebay (buy..wait for ups)
-then once you "run the jig" the triangle will be gone
-flash all future kernels using the Darky app and it won't show again
*note latest su and liblights are under downloads in first post

Is it overclocked?

a quick question: what difference does this kernel do ! I mean is it faster? overclocked?
and does it work with specific firmware? such as KDD or KE1?

More information needed ;-)

A kernel from Thailand is very nice to have , but we do need some more infos
Like what is different on this kernel , what is already added , if its rooted e.t.c.

source code is missing ^^
I suggest forking supercurio's base kernel from git for sharing (also for GPL compliance)

Hope you do just Great!

like the title says wip (work in progress), for right now it is a stock kernel, really not worth flashing other than a different kernel version in about phone
I'm testing an uv version right now, the downside is it takes time to truly compare...

sorry about that, I put up my sources, it was late when I posted this

I have extremely high hopes for this Kernel. James Bond has one of the most stable & feature rich kernels for the Nexus S. Can't wait to see what you'll do with the SGS II

good to see you also here
good work

So excited to have the James Bond Kernel coming to the SII. I used this kernel on the Nexus S and loved it.

one question... does the I9100 have a fps cap? (60fps)
if so, can you take a look at it and maybe remove it?
i have tried THIS but it didn't work...
they also say that's only for custom kernels but some of them got it running on a stock kernel... 83 fps.. i mean wow...
i still got an avg of 60 in fps2d and the top in quadrant was 86fps (only half an second long) so i thought there was a cap...

Forget it.... They are getting 140 fps but there are some problems... They wanna go back to 50-60 fps.. ^^

Hey ogdobber, any chance of sharing how you managed to get vibration working? Thanks
EDIT: NVM, got it working now!

Vibration and haptic feedback
In my phone vibration still doesn't work. Tried some factory resets and still no vibration or haptic feedback. Tried this kernel an no luck.
I'm considering sending it back as this looks like an hardware problem.

note* if you downloaded v1.1 haptic is broken

hey. firstly mate really appreciate the effort in developing a kernal for the i9100.just wondered if you were able to make a new KE2 kernal.i have just flashed your kernal im on villianrom.hes using the stock kernal i belive anyways my phone kept root from before.but just as a reference quadrant score is 400points lower.i think this is because of your kernal being KDD.i had same score as using yours when i tryed using supercurios kernal also.am i correct for the reason?sorry for big ramble.

Yes everything works. I will edit the first post to reflect that. The only known bug I have found is the Contacts screen always defaults to the initial screen for importing contacts so I just replaced that shortcut from the dock and go to contacts from the phone shortcut.
Awesome! I've been hoping for a stock rom that could be overclocked for the R800x for some time now

The black background with white text is what I'm used to, but the blue sounds interesting. Any way you could upload a .zip for each one. By .zip you mean a small .zip to flash through CWM, right?

I remember seeing in DoomLord's thread where he made changes in the kernel for
4.0.A.2.368 that gave better init.d support.
NM, had the wrong CDMA mode selected.
Is there a safe to remove apps list? Seeing the chinesetextinput.apk at 8MB is disturbing to me. Haha.
After playing with this for a while I think the only other bug would be the incoming call slider being cut off for some reason. Other than that this ROM runs great and everything works.
Do u need an unlock bootloader to flash this?

The .368 kernel didnt work with this firmware, I tried it and did not have camera. The v3 .145 kernel posted here seems to have something different to it because no matter where I put busybox or how I edit scripts the dalvik2cache mod never works. Ive tried using both the dalvik hack zip and Dooms dalvik mod zip and neither work. Same results with the .145 kernel on stock verizon firmware.
I also tried running the insecure adb .apk even though the kernel is already insecure, still no luck. No support on the problem from doom either.
I flashed back to stock kernel and the dalvik mod works fine with this firmware so its def. the kernel. Just cant seem to figure it out!
Does the manual process through ADB not work with v3 either? Would rather be sitting at 140MB free instead of 71MB. Haha.
Also is there any way to get Wireless Tether for Root Users to work? I tried setting to Nexus One, and it keeps popping up that hotspot is active, and won't allow anything to connect.

I actually had the built in wireless tether work for me without using an app or sending me to the verizon page.
Try the new alternate kernel I posted for the init.d script problems and let me know if it works.
I'll have to test after work. I'll let you know how it goes.
Also, separate question: Doomkernel v3 is supposed to have a whole host of cpu governors, but my setcpu only shows conservative, ondemand, userspace, powersave, and performance. No Smartass, interactive, or any of the other frills that are supposedly in his v3 kernel. Do you guys have the missing governors, and am I just stupid or something?
I will test it out. Just to be sure, this is a test to get the dalvik hack working, or are any other tweaks involved?
Also how do I get into CWM with this kernel? I can't seem to get in there either through hitting the back button, volume rocker while booting. I also can't seem to get into it by rebooting into it through Rom Toolbox, I ended up having to boot off recoveryplay.img.
I have 197MB free up from 57!
You have to spam the back button to get into recovery while it boots. I start spamming as soon as "sony ericcson" shows on screen. If you wait until you get the SE animated boot logo, you're too late.

[ROM][2.3.6] CoZ ROM v3.1 Final! CWM (03/26/2012) You seriously haven't tried it?? ;)

CoZ ROM is:
Updated with the following:
03/26/2012 - CoZ ROM v3.1
Entropy's Daily Driver kernel (02/28/2012)
Init.d governor is ondemand
zipalign init.d script (newly installed apps get zipaligned)
A few other script tweaks
All added applications are updated.
Milocker app added.
Reverted to UCKH7 modem
Made some small changes to the ROM. Added smoothness and resolved the haptic issue. IE: No need to do a "wipe data/factory reset" if you lose haptic feedback upon install.
ICS Launcher has been removed! Sam from MobileTechVideo's pointed out an issue that turned out to be an ICS Launcher issue that has yet to be repaired in the app. Not a big deal, but I'd rather remove it until they fix it. You can always install it from the market if you want it.
This will be my last Gingerbread ROM until official ICS source is released for AT&T. Well, maybe. Depends on my workload at work which recently has been very heavy.
MobileTechVideo's review of CoZ ROM v3 is below. Thank you, Sam!
UPDATED to Android OS 2.3.6
Deodexed and Zipaligned
Rooted (Superuser, and Busybox added)
init.d support
UCKK6 modem
Entropy's Daily Driver kernel (12212011)
Added lidroid's 14 toggle mod in status bar drop down. Edited to give it more of an ICS look. QuickPanel Settings app in your Applications drawer so you can move/remove/add as you please.
Nexus Prime bootanimation
Extended Power Menu
WIFI connectivity should not be an issue thanks largely to Entropy512 for his awesome kernel!
Lock screen issue is resolved, but this was an Android issue to begin with that they resolved since 2.3.4

How to install:
1) Download Zip to your internal sd card
2) Boot into CWM. Go to post# 2 for instructions if needed
3) Highly recommended you go to "Mounts and Storage" and format /data
4) Go to "Install Zip from sdcard" then "choose Zip from sdcard".
5) Navigate to and install the ROM (it will wipe system, cache and davlik for you)
6) First boot can take several minutes
7) IMPORTANT:
When and if restoring data with Titanium Backup ONLY "Restore missing apps with data" and nothing else otherwise you may have issues like missing vibration and/or haptic feedback.

Download Archive:
CWM Package download for CoZ ROM v3.1:
Go here to download: CoZ ROM v3.1
What good is a CWM package if you don't have CWM?
CWM = ClockWork Mod
Note: Your phone needs to be rooted for a non-Odin install. There are many threads in this forum on how to root so I won't get into it here.
Now you need to obtain a kernel that has CWM included. I recommend the latest kernel from Entropy512's thread located here.
You'll want to extract the zImage file out of the Zip and save it on your computer.
If you have the Android SDK installed and working on your computer then save the zImage in its tools directory and then type the following command from this location:
Code:
adb push zImage /sdcard/zImage
Otherwise you'll want to plugin your phone to your computers USB connection and paste the zImage file in the root of your internal SD Card.
Next you need to flash the kernel.
Via ADB (press Enter after each line):
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/zImage of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5
Via a Terminal Emulator installed on your phone (If you don't have one download "Android Terminal Emulator" from the Market and install it. It's free):
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/zImage of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5
Reboot.
Note that in the above two code examples when you type su you'll get a prompt to allow the "Superuser Request" if its the first time you invoke it from either program.
To boot into CWM in ADB type:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Or, unplug your USB cable if plugged in, and press and hold vol UP + vol DOWN + Power buttons. Wait until it reboots and you see the Samsung Galaxy S II boot screen and release all 3 buttons. This should place you in your CWM menu.
Doing it this way should keep you from getting an exclamation point on your boot screen which is the main reason why I explained how to do this in this manner. If, by chance, you still get an exclamation point or already had one to begin with the only option I can think of is to use a jig. Not that a jig isn't a good thing to have anyways. Any ROM you flash from within CWM will not be added to your Custom Image count and will not produce the annoying exclamation point on the boot screen.
Absolutely first thing you want to do is boot into CWM.
As of this writing, press the Home button to choose an entry and press your Power button or the back button to go back to the previous screen.
Go to: backup and restore
Choose Backup
This will take a few minutes, but is well worth it. Now if you ever mess up your install you can always boot into CWM and restore the image you backed up. This, however, doesn't protect you from flashing bad bootloaders so word to the wise... DO NOT FLASH BOOTLOADERS!!! At this point and time there is no need to.
looks nice!
Thanks !!!
Good to see another dev joining the S II ranks. I can't wait to give this a go.
Thanks Coz, will try this one out. looks like the perfect theme to match the go launcher glass icons I always seem to come back to using.
Update: No issues with the rom yet, been running it all day. Only issue (not from the rom) is that I loose root if I change the kernel. I'm trying to use Zedomax OC kernel, but since root breaks I can't OC.

I have not tried the Zedomax kernel, but I'm not a fan of overclocking. I can say that I've been using my ROM for a while and for me, its always been as stable as can be. Definitely not saying that because it's my ROM. I appreciate you using it as your daily driver for now
Updated to include CWM install instructions.
I love this rom. I hate to even try something else.

looks cool. Will give it a test drive.
Now that I can finally post in here, I can say that this has been my favorite ROM. Thanks again, Cozmo.
Nice job on the rom. Really smooth and fast.

CoZ ROM v2 has been posted and is available in the OP.
Cozmo1 I just have to say you have been really active with the updates. That's really awesome from what I noticed there is still not many developers on the AT&T SGS2 So I am really happy that your contributing so much, unlike me >_> Who can't develop Still Once I get home today I'm going to flash everything i can for some runs I'll pick my favorite and run with it for a bit. All of your stuff looks super tempting though.
I may have to give this a try later

Currently it does not have init.d support, but it'll be an easy thing to implement in the next release. I must admit I don't know why I haven't thought of implementing it already.

[ROM][SAMMY-ICS 4.0.3]MJ ROM-version 1.3[XWLP7_XENLP3][16.04.2012]

Greetings!
I have decide long enough and here i am, trying to build my own ROM and share with you guys.
I am still new in creating my ROM, yet i wanna challenge myself and try to have fun with it. To be honest, it is harder than i thought with no complete tutorial out there.
I am planning to start things slowly and learning as i go along. Thus, i start with the basic, modifying stock ROM, and de-odex them. Clear all the bloatware or what i think is not necessary.
Please take note this is just a trial. If you are interested, do try out, and let me know how or where i can improve. I am noob, please don't flame me.
Current Release
MJ ROM: Trial Version 1.3 - 16.04.2012
Firmware: I9100XWLP7
CSC: XENLP3
Kernel: current LATEST Siyah Kernel v3.1rc4 (dual boot supported )
Coming Soon:
add in call recording feature
add in toggle bar - Postpone! Seems like Lidroid method will supercede my translucent status bar.will fine other method to make both thing works.
planning to switch launcher, as i am not too fond with Apex (suggestion please)
create my own logo (might take times, still figuring out)
Beats audio, anyone? (some claim it doens't work, does it? )

Bugs:
Not everything is perfect, though i expected a perfect ROM to ease everyone. However, there are some minor bug i encounter. Not a big deal.
- Keyboard not poping up at the initial setup the ownership of the phone
solution: i realise it takes time for the ROM to load up the keyboard (maybe due to language change from netherland to english - united state issue). what i do is, i just press back and forward few time, and the keyboard will initially pop up. don't worry, it just happen the very first time android setup. no more issues after that.
- Messaging app cannot use
solution: i suspect this is Apex Launcher issues. just delete the dock bar Messaging shortcut. Drag and put the new Messaging app from app drawer and you are good to go.

thanks man! btw, is it legal to use theme provide here? can i use the mod they provide here? i scare i violate the rules or whatever copyright thingy.
U can use themes, apps and other mods from developers just ask their permission first and credit them in your op.
About supersu, you need to install(push) binary for it to work. Think it's binary is a xbin file, but not sure ask in chainfire thread.
anyways good luck with your project

thanks for your hints and advise. really appreciate it.
edit: i think i found the reason on why my custom ROM is not rooted. it seems like i am using stock ROM unrooted, that's why it is not rooted. base on my research, i just have to flash the stock ROM, root it, flash kernel and old bootloader. back up, and start cooking afterward. correct me if i am wrong.
anyway, gonna try it tomorrow. used almost full day in trial and error, at least i can flash and run my first trial.

=============== How to Flash ===============
Download the ROM below and place on your internal_sdcard or sdcard (doesn't matter, just remember where you put it!)
Go into Settings > Power > Fast Boot and uncheck that.
Turn the phone off. Once off, press and hold the Volume Down + Power Button until you reach the white bootloader screen
Choose "RECOVERY" (volume down and up to move, power to select)
You SHOULD make a backup by tapping on the "Backup" button. You are not required, but I would recommend it.
You also SHOULD manually wipe cache, dalvik-cache, and factory reset (wipe /data). This can be done by tapping on the "Wipe" button. Choose those 3 options (and even system if you want, even though the install script does that for you)
Choose "Install" and locate the ROM wherever you put it. NOTE: If you don't see it, make sure that either internal_sdcard or sdcard is mounted. This can be done via the "Mount" button at the main menu of TWRP. Be sure that either internal_sdcard or sdcard is checked!
Wait until the install is finished and then tap "Reboot to System"

FAQ (Updated 5.29.12)

Q: What makes this ROM different than all the other ROMs?
A: First and foremost, you will get the best support from the viperROM Team (-viperboy- and Vinchenzop). We personally reply to almost every post and we're always in the thread trying to help out. If you have to wait more than an hour or so for your question to be answered, that is unusual! What else is different??
The inclusion of the OC Daemon for unprecedented battery life and performance
The custom viperControl script that handles the OC daemon, bloat, and removed app management (more to come too!)
A highly tuned system for incredible smoothness

Q: Do I really need to wipe coming from another version of viperROM?
A: I always recommend that and that is how I test my ROMs. You may be not have any issues if you don't wipe, but you might.

Q: Where are all the cool add-ons?
A: Check post 4 for more information. More add-ons will be posted and available in GooManager in the future.

Q: What is battery calibration and should I do it?
A: Yes!! If you aren't getting wonderful battery life or you think you can do better, do it! Here is the method I have used even back to my EVO 4G and it has always done well by me: Wipe battery stats (from recovery, or Battery Monitor Widget can do it [Menu > Statistics] and it doesn't matter what percentage you're at when you do so. Let the phone die and then fully charge. Take it off the charger and don't plug it in until it dies again, then fully charge. Your next charge cycle will be much better!
What some people don't understand is that you're not calibrating the battery as you are calibrating the phone. When you wipe and do this procedure, the phone reads where the max and min voltages are so it can report battery stats accurately.

Q: What is the deal with tethering?

This script is the main script used to control many features within viperROM. Currently with this script, you can:
Adjust the OC Daemon
Change schedulers
Adjust voltage (if on a custom kernel)
Manage removed apps
Freeze any app on the phone - NOTE: Not available on ICS yet!
Modify lock screen text - NOTE: Not available on ICS yet!
Run "fix permissions" (for FC issues)
Adjust the capacitive button brightness
Edit some features in build.prop
Manage the hosts file
Fix a damaged /misc partition

OC Daemon
The OC daemon was created by rmk40 of Team Unity. I take no credit for the daemon, only the script I made to make it easier to work with. More information can be found here, but I will sum it up and explain the script below...
This daemon, written in C, completely eliminates the need for SetCPU and other CPU controlling apps. The daemon handles min/max frequencies for both screen on and screen off but it has one more trick up its sleeve... It can change the governor INSTANTLY depending on the screen state. I have tested it and I can tell you that it really does work instantly and I think this is going to be a great battery saver! I have set default values within the ROM as follows: Screen Off - conservative @ 192min/432max and Screen On - ondemand @ 192min/1188max. Using these settings, I get NO lag. Battery life is amazing, over 19+ hours for me with moderate usage!
If you decide that you want to change the settings of the daemon, here is how you do so...
Open up Terminal Emulator
Type "su" (lowercase, without the quotes and grant it Superuser access if you haven't already)
Type "vc" (lowercase, without the quotes)
Enter "1" (without the quotes) and you will see all of your options
Click to collapse
All the settings can be edited from there. If you want to verify that this is working, you can run these commands from adb shell:
Current CPU frequency
Code:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq
Current CPU governor
Code:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
Current min CPU Freq (you will see this change when the screen state changes)
Code:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
Current max CPU Freq (you will see this change when the screen state changes)
Code:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
Here are a few things that you need to know about the script...
You MUST flash a custom kernel to overclock! The ROM includeds the stock kernel that is not capable of overclocking. Well why do you call it the "OC Daemon" then?? Because I didn't make it and that's what they called it AND the daemon is capable of controlling OC. Makes sense to me. If you want to overclock (after flashing a custom kernel, of course), run the script and change the MAX awake to whatever OC you would like.
The phone will boot up and detect if you're using SetCPU or other CPU apps. If you are, the daemon will be DISABLED automatically. If you aren't, the daemon will be enabled.

Installed and running it through its paces.
I had one issue where my BT pairings weren't working. I'd pair, then look back and the pairings were gone.
Rebooted/cleared cache/dalvik/fixed permissions seems to be ok now.
Speeds are good. Doesn't seem much faster than stock, but still working on it.
So far, stable. Gotta go out in a bit so I'll look at battery life and other stuff then, but it seems typical ViperRom at this point: Fast, stable, and wonderful.
Vin, get to work on battery percents and stuff!

As usual, I'll be running this show. You need to quit complaining. I'll put up with this in the 3d forums, but here, we just make out (awkward?). I'll get to the percentages tonight most likely

Just flash via recovery. What are you trying to push though terminal?

I used to be able to do that. Then something terrible happened.....I got old lol
Anyway, I'm dying to try this but I am having problems getting rooted. When it comes to root, do you do the HTC Dev unlock then run the root script here, or do just one of them?

Sofla, you're better than this...
Use the HTC unlock method, install a recovery, then flash...
HTC Unlocked, TWRP Recovery installed and 1st custom ROM installed. Not bad for 3 days after picking up this device. Restoring apps now and will see how this one compares to stock.

I spent most of yesterday trying to figure out what I've done wrong. I did the HTC unlock method, and that was the end of things that went right. I tried to install twrp because I read that cwm wasn't working. I installed su but there is no su binary. I'm thinking that is the problem, that I can't use superuser.

YOU CAN NOT DUAL BOOT THIS.
This is a project page to get the Galaxy SII i9100 back to a tier 2 device,
it is currently using the latest Firefox OS source code from the v1.1.1.
We've done it guys! We have reached the first milestone, BETA! This ROM is now considered stable enough for daily use.
- Microphone (needs testing!)
- Wrong DPI
- Hardware acceleration
- Camera
- Others I may not have discovered yet.
Installation Instructions said:
1. Go to cwm recovery and do a complete backup of your phone.
2. Extract the content of firefoxos_beta_v1_10102013.zip file to your hard drive, using your preferred rar/zip archiver (ex: WinRAR)
3. From your phone, go to mounts and storage, and select the last option, mount USB storage.
4. Copy the folder you extracted from the archive 2013-10-10.16.12.39 to your sdcard in the folder clockworkmod/backup (if you don't have that folder, create it)
5. Wipe data/factory reset (make sure you have a backup)
6. From your phone go to backup and restore -> restore -> 2013-10-10.16.12.39
7. reboot system now

As a final note DO FRICKIN' NOT format your /system, /data or /cache partitions
through the Firefox OS CWMR if your device is susceptible to a eMMC brickbug.
You have been warned.
This release is purely for testing, I need to know what does and doesn't work.
But I'm no programmer, fixes may take a while to be released unless others decide
to contribute.

No worries, I'm happy to be working on it
Preliminary/quick sneak peek into the alpha...
The Setup Wizard cannot seem to detect the Time Zone and whatnot in the specific section, but the time adjusted itself after the phone was setup
Messages work (send and receive)
Sound notifications work. Not sure for music/audio.
Importing of contacts via vcf works
Notification Center/Status Bar is laggy.
No built in screen off when in call ( I assume proximity is not working?)
Calls do not seem to work
Lock/unlock/power button works
Menu and Back button are useless (I assume we can use these somehow?)
For an alpha, this is good progress. If we get HW acceleration working, it would be much bearable. As much as I want to be a tester for it, I'm afraid that will have to wait. Good luck with the project!
EDIT @abtekk once I find the time, I'll try to setup a dualboot with it as well and see what I can do.

I think that's to do with geolocation. I'll take a look, though.

Firefox OS isn't designed for use of these buttons. I could maybe bind them to another function.

Sounds good. Could you report the bugs you found in to the bug tracker, please.
WiFi now works.
The camera is next on my list.

You can dual boot with any kernel that has the dualboot feature. Siyah is the recommended, though.
Ok i will try as secondary rom
I tried with the latest Dori 9.41 stable, and it doesn't seem to boot to the Firefox partition properly. Needless to say, I'll have to try Siyah later.
EDIT: Seems that prealpha 2 is way smaller than 1. Why is this so? Do we flash it on top of alpha 1 or is it good to go for clean flash?

Siyah must be the only compatable one, then.

Just manage to purge useless crap out of the second release. It's good for a clean flash .
