Can someone upload a zune backup - Surround Windows Phone 7 Development

I Need A ZUNE BACKUP of the 7.7004 WP7 OS I want to throw it into the file location (%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update) and see if Zune will let me downgrade my OS from the 7.7380 to the 7.7004) for some reason zune did not create a backup on my system in this folder when updating mine so if someone could upload a backup that would ROCK!!!!!!!!!!....
NEVERMIND Just Entered USB Bootloader Mode and Reinstalled Original ROM.

Can you do me a solid?
Do you have the original ROM 7.7004 ROM? If so is it ATT capable? I'm having the toughest time getting my phone back to original factory settings after attempting and failing miserably with a mango beta update. Thanks. [email protected]

[Q] HTC Hero on 3 UK

Hi
I have just recieved a new HTC Hero on contract with 3. I am relatively new to ROMs and radios etc. I just had a few questions with regards to the hero ?
I only have an internet allowance of 512mb, will this be enough for the phone ? Are there any free programs which can track this ?
I want to change to the latest 2.1 Rom but I am unsure if this ROM is faster than the current 1.5 ROM. What would you recommend is the fastest and most stable 2.1 ROM for the hero ?
Does the 2.1 ROM use more battery power than the 1.5 ROM ?
If I were to change the ROM would I be able to make a backup of the "out fo the box" ROM. I know I have a lot of questions and most likely a few more to follow but any feedback is appreciated.

Riyaz

OK. 2.1 ROMs are miles better
Battery life should be a bit better. You make a nandroid backup if you want to store your current config.
There are apps to track data usage in the market (free). Droidwall (on custom ROM) will let you control what apps get internet access.
If you ever needed to restore to box condition, you could run your nandroid restore, or just use a goldcard and 3 UK RUU
HTH
512 meg will usually be enough provided you dont sit there on youtube all month, or use tethering and download substantial amounts. Make sure it connects to Wifi when it can. I have 500mb and while it seems little I've never had a problem.
I rooted a 3 uk hero the other day. Massive issues with it. I was on 2.73.771.73 or something and I had to make a goldcard, then downgrade to something else, then install flashrec, then flash a new recovery then flash a rom. Horrible to find the drivers etc needed to downgrade though. I needed to change them to "My HTC" drivers for HTC Sync and bootloader. Using 64 bit win 7 by the way.
I appreciate the feedback guys. I have done some more reading and I think I want to install VillainROM 12. Just a few more questions before I attempt to have a go !
Is the goldcard method the best way to root the hero ?
Once it is rooted, would it be relatively easy to return to the original 3 uk rom ? (How would I create a backup of this ?)
To install this ROM am I correct in assuming I would need to root the phone. As my phone is on the 3 UK network, it is running android 1.5. I am unsure of which radio is installed, and hence would you recommend updating the radio to:
"update-hero-radio-63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14-signed.zip" ? (I think this is the most up to date radio for the hero).
I know some of these questions are probably common knowledge but I am new to this so please bear with me.

I've rooted my hero on 3. i'm using that radio and VR12.
First off, I used a goldcard to to downgrade then flash the recovery then you can do what you like. Ive not tried going back to stock though.
Good luck.

Just wondering is VR12 a quick ROM or is superhero 2.0 quicker ?
hi
cuurent rom is better . wait for new upgrade to froyo 2.2 . otherwise you can do cutom rom
thanks
Thank you very much for the support guys. I have done a bit more reading and I think I have it figured out but before I start just wanted to confirm the process in case I miss something out or the order is incorrect. This is the process I plan on using:
1. Backup the phone using nandroid and save folder on to PC
2. Goldcard procedure. Setup SDK, create the goldcard.
3. Downgrade using this goldcard to 2.73.405.5
4. Install AmonRa's (v1.6.2) Hero recovery image (Am I correct in thinking there is a new recovery image out ? Which one should I use ?)
5. Load VR12 and reboot
6. Update the radio to 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14. This bit scares me as I think this may potentially brick the handset !
7. Reboot phone and hopefully should have rooted hero with VR12 and latest radio.
Is this order correct ? Any tips ?
I will be using Windows 7 32 bit, do I need to install any extra driver's ?
Many thanks
Riyaz
You have it summed up correctly (assuming you're currently running v1.5 of android).
To answer a few of your questions/worries
Yes there is a new version of AmonRA's recovery. May as well use it. Seems fine to me. v1.7.0.1 (i think)
The radio will be fine. It's only an issue if you pull the battery whilst its going (user error) or you have a sprint cdma hero (user error).
Tips - install the latest version of HTC Sync v3.0.5387 from here first. This will ensure the correct drivers are installed. If you get an error whilst downgrading just update the drivers in windows to those installed with HTC Sync (HTC folder on C drive) and run the update again and all will work. That is perfectly normal and happens to some (probably most) users.
Enjoy.
Hi
I installed the HTC Sync in that link but when I try to connect it says this software is only for devices which are running 2.1.
Any ideas ? I cannot set-up ADB without syncing the phone. I hate windows 7 !
Doesn't matter - just need the drivers. Nothing else
Thanks I will continue tonight. Just another question about backing up the original rom on the phone. Am I correct in assuming I need to switch the phone off, turn back on and hold power button and home key and it boots into recovery mode I think. I do not see an option to create a backup. I do however get a cache error. Any idea's ? Am I doing something wrong ? Can I create a backup image via this method ?
Any idea's ?
Apprecuate the feedback guys.
You haven't got a custom recovery image on the phone yet. What part of the process are you trying to do?
Hi
Sorry I just re read my post and it is not very clear. I am referring to the first step of making a backup. If i want to make a backup of the original ROM on the phone (the three ROM), how would I go about making a full backup incase anything goes wrong whilst I am trying to root the phone ? What I am trying to say is I want to have abackup incase I get it wrong whilst rooting.
Apologies for the questions.
You'll have to read up on that. I don't think there is an easy to follow guide. Check out the nandroid details with a quick google search. Personally i've never bothered with this part of the process because as long as there is a 3 network rru exe file (check htc's website) then you can always go back (obviously losing your personal settings). When you run the rru it removes everything you have done and sets the phone back to the state it arrived in.
If you do do it then please make a simple to follow guide for others.
Am I correct in thinking that if anything were to go wrong during the rooting process, I can still restore the phone via a 3 network rru exe file (all be it loosing my settings). Just in case I do make a mistake, how would I go about restoring the phone ? Would I simply place the RUU file on an SD card and then run the RUU file ? How would I run the RUU file ?
I have looked on the HTC website and cannot seem to find this RUU file for a hero on the 3 network. Does anyone have this RUU file and would they be kind enough to forward it on to me or a link to the RUU ?
Thank you guys for being so patient. I know I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer !
http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=283&cat=2&dl_id=840
That should be the 3UK rru file. I would recommend keeping a copy just in case. You just run the file from any windows PC and it will do its stuff.
You are correct in your deductions and sharp enough
Hi
Just an update guys, I have managed to create a goldcard but I cannot get HTC sync to work with Windows 7. I tried to follow the advice provided but it just states Windows has picked the best driver for this. I am tearing my hair out !
Any ideas on how to sync htc hero running 1.5 cupcake with windows 7 ultimate ?
Regards
Which version of HTC Sync are you running?

Can't restore backup since updated to 12220

Hi Guys!
Since I updated my Lumia 800's FW to 12220 using Cab Sender, I cannot restore my backup created by the cab sender neither that I created previously with Zune. Is this actually normal? What about those, who updated via Zune? I heard they has the some problem. Could anybody confirm it please?
By the way my battery drains 1% / hour in stand by (wifi and mobile data are turned off). It's worse than It was with 12070 (1% / 2.5 hour). Is there anybody who has the same problem?
Thanks
Hi bkotyik,
Got the same error here with lumia. Searched MSFT q&a-site for the error number and got: this is normal behavior, because the backup made by Zune before upgrade is only a restore point in case the update failed, not a full backup. There was a sentence "if your upgrade finished successful than your device works as expected and there's no need to rollback." Thanks MS, this is big fault

Did you do your update with zune, or via cab sender method? I also did a backup with WP7 Easy Backup tool and with Cab Sender. Neither of them can I restore. I know both of them uses Zune's assemblies, so It's possible the backup methods are the same, but in this case I don't know who One can do a full backup.
Can you confirm the battery issue as well?
I'm not sure If the cabs We injected via the cab sender, are in every case the same, we would get from Zune.
It would be nice, If We could find it out for sure.
I had the same problem after updating through cab sender. I couldn’t get the update through Zune so I flashed my Lumia 800 with the OS version 12220. Using WP7 Easy Backup Tool no problem backing up or restoring with new backup, but with previous backup (previous OS version) it’s impossible to restore. So I guess this is a bug.

****NOTE**** zune update checkpoint is just available for official updates
( i mean if you use a custom ROM and you didn't any custom backup so i think there is no other way )
++++++ Next Time use This Tool to Bckup all you need and then restore it easily to ( current Rom or another Rom)
GOOD LUCK !

i need a nandroid backup of stock rom (p768)

i am currently running cm 11and i wanna go back to stock
for some reason i had no success with the offline flash method although i used it in the first place to unlock my BL and now i can't use it again
i have all the drivers installed and i entered S/W upgrade mode and it says
_isconnectedphonecall (0)
which means phone is "not" connected.
so i need a nandroid backup please if someone can give me.
i found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136204
but multiupload links don't work for me.
it can also be a p760 nandroid! please help me. i want to return my phone back to stock rom
Anybody, Please??!
Use LG's service tool. It will unlike OTA not brick yer phone, download the latest official firmware, for me it was 20h a couple of weeks ago, replace the recovery and un-root, keeping apps and settings.
The reason was to update baseband firmware. Then I needed ADB for root & recovery, and couldn't get it to work under Win 8.1 x64. It instantly worked on my netbook with Win7 x64.

Backup-point on Android is that possible?

Hi guys,
this is my first thread in a forum ever, so please don't be too mad at me.
So now to my question:
Is it possible to make something like a backup point on android, I mean to extract ALL files (plus the state of the OS) like on Windows.
I haven't found anything on google yet and maybe I opened the thread in the wrong category please move it then (if that is possible, I already said it's my first thread and I'm not used to forums).
I know that you can backup your data on PC and so on and then make a factory reset and load all the data in. But now that Android 7 came out and my phone (Vernee Apollo Light) will get the update soon for safety reason I want to backup my almost new phone with the OS state so that if my phone dies at some point because of the new OS I want to restore it easily with some sort of what I call backup point.
Another question is is this even nessesary or will it also reset the OS, if I do a factory reset, to a further OS (in my case I update to Android 7, the phone crashes, I restore to factory mode and have my Android 6 again)or will it only reset to Android 7 through factory mode reset?
And if I need such restore point could one of you please give me an instruction how to do that.
Thank you for your patience to read and thank you for solving it in advance.
Best regards, n16h70wl aka Lukas Heuschneider

You would need TWRP to do a nandroid backup.

You can use SP flash tool to dump your rom. I don't know it works for you. If your android is rooted then you can backup your whole system via adb to your pc. You can also use custom recovery to get nandroid backup(system backup) of your android to your SD card. You need to flash custom recovery for your android.
There after you need to unroot your android and flash stock recovery again. If OTA update found your android modified then OTA update abort.
It's better to download your stock rom. If android update ruins your android then you can flash your stock rom in fastboot mode
If you update your android to Nougat and factory reset then it's not reset to again marshmallow. Factory reset only reset system and user data. So it's only reset your Nougat to factory state.
Thanks for your reply.
So I probably have to root my Android don't I?

Use SP flash tool to dump rom of your non rooted android in your pc.
You can root to get backup of your full system. But you want to unroot again because if OTA update found that your system is modified then OTA update abort. So don't root your android.
It's better to use SP flash tool to dump rom or download stock rom of your android and keep it in pc.
If update ruins your android then you can flash stock rom in fastboot mode to your non rooted android.
If it helped. Please thank me.
