Does this work on Bell Atrix devices or any other firmware? I know it probably wouldn't be difficult to test myself but I'm at work and it's a pain to do via Root Explorer.
If I were at home with ADB access I'd give it a shot in a jiffy. Thanks for sharing nonetheless!

Looks to be working, has 1080P option! Will need to reboot for it to work first. on 4.1.83 gladiatrix
*picture removed due to freakishly large size

rebooting now.....seems to work fine adds menu and no fcs so far.
anyway to tell if this is actually 1080p?
when i look at the properties of a video it says the res is qvga, normal?

Some reason it won't show up in my app drawer. I named the old one apk.Bak and placed the new one in. Rebooted still nothing. Any help?

Try rebooting again. Sometimes it doesn't click right away.
I've had this happen in the past. Freaked me out until I saw others report this too.

That is odd, that was all I did. I first renamed the original one .bak dropped the new one in the system/app where the renamed original was and tried the camera. It said it failed to open so I reboot and tried again and all was good. Make sure permissions says -rw -r -r

Did some tests, 1080p works. I was skeptical at first, until I saw the frame rate drop like the Optimus 2X 1080p. Still smooth though.

Just try it, and works fine!!!!
Windows media player said that the resolution was 1920x1088. ¿?
Anyway, it works on AT&T atrix with 4.1.83!!!!
Thanks

Running gladiatrix, caused my camera app not to show in app drawer or allow camera to load.
*edit* someone beat me to it

Anyone tried this on U4_2.1.1 yet?

Running the French Orange SBF (4.2.1.1) and it looks like it worked! Haven't uploaded the file to check the properties but it looked pretty damn 1080p. I also have GreyBlur installed.
If my eyes deceived me.. at least it doesn't crash. It did give me the option in the pull down though. Someone else confirm this too, please! Finally us Bell Atrix users are getting some lucky breaks.

Is the leaked French SBF that I an several others running actually from Orange? I was trying to figure out what carrier it was for as there is no carrier boot screen or bloat.
Sweet! It works! Thanks for letting me know. I am gonna "install" it using Root Explorer tomorrow (busy now), and just rename my old camera app to .bak, just in case.

Fixed my issue. I went into Root Explorer and checked user premissions and none of them were checked. If it does not show in the app drawer, make sure all permissions are set for user in root explorer.

What should they be? rw-r--r-- or rwxr--r--?
I tried both and the camera app will not show up.

I'm gonna sound like a newb (cause I am) but can anyone post the steps to take to get this working. I've downloaded the file and extracted it. But When I try to put the new .apk in the system/app folder I get an error from Root Explorer. I'm on an AT&T 4.1.83 running Ginger Blur 3.1! Thanks guys!

Ok. I'll try that, thanks!

Nope. Didn't work. Doesn't show up in app drawer or even in the apps list as being installed. Crap.
Wierd. As soon as I deleted it and removed the .bak from the original camera app, it came back. Maybe I got a corrupt download of this camera app.
*EDIT* OMG I'm such a retard. I just looked at the first post again. I need to be DEODEXED, which I haven't done with U4_2.2.1 yet. *smacks forehead*

To make it easier, all you need to do is download Adobe Flash Player 10.1.105.6 from market and
replace the /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib/libflashplayer.so which is AND 10,1,105,6 hex edited to look like WIN 10,1,102,64 for HULU.
1) Extract libflashplayer.so to sdcard
2) Copy libflashplayer.so from sdcard to
/data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib using root explorer and make sure the permissions for libflashplayer.so is rwxr-xr-x

In the browser window type about:debug
go to the browser settings
set UAstring to Desktop
backout and give hulu a shot

Worked perfectly

For full screen, double tap the hulu window. Full screen will not work if you hit the full screen icon.

I can confirm this does work, I didn't do the hex editing but did move the lib file and the player is working for me
edit: it even went to the actual larger website and not just the widget, now making it go fullscreen correctly is a little bit of an issue but otherwise it works
Not working for me. Followed directions correctly. Hulu says platform is not supported, not sure what I'm doing wrong

works for me! I also didn't mess with the hex stuff. make sure to set your browser for desktop like the op states.. that's the one thing I missed before I got it to work.

i can confirm also working
you have to go to the hulu.com desktop verson not the hulu.com/widget/player one
Just watched an SNL clip on Hulu. Thanks. I didn't do any hex editing either. I just replaced the file (w/ root explorer), checked all 3 permissions for "user", and then went to Hulu in Dolphin. Since it already has the Android/Desktop option readily avialable, I didn't need to change anything. Again, thanks.
I did both of the above. Didn't edit hex either. Desktop-check, replaced file-check, hulu.com desktop-check, permissions-check. Did both widget and desktop still a no go. Ill try again later
Edit: ran hulu.com through dolphin browser and finally got hulu to work. Weird. But now I'm only able to watch the 30sec ad. After ad finishes playing, screen iz black and nothing. Even waited for it to buffer or whatever but no success. I don't wanna go to hulu to watch tv ads haha. Any ideas what problem this might be?

Thanks for the tip OP! Reminds me of the nexus days when froyo came out and it was a cat and mouse game. Wonder how long this will last till hulu blocks it again!

Copied the file, change the permissions and went to hulu.com and it worked. It is challenging to get to full screen mode, but well worth it until Hulu decides to give us an official client.

FYI, if you have automatic updating checked off for Flash, the update causes the "Browser not supported" issue to return. I'm going to attempt to edit the data folder with the same file as before, to see if that works.
*update*
Success.
Just re-copy the file into the folder, and re-change the permissions again, as stated in the OP. Just checked out a Godd Morning America clip. Controls are a bit of a challenge. But we're good to go.

Blue Themed Gmail Apk!

Here are are some blue themed Gmail apk's that I made for the xoom and definitely work on the Samsung Google IO tab 10.1. You must delete your gmail apk first (I recommend copy to another location) then side load any of these with something like drop box or push via ADB. Let me know if you have any problems.
If you like hit the thanks button please!
Enjoy!

Also, flashed Tasks 650 & Phantom's "In Paris" KME. Still, no luv.
Any other suggestions?
Much appreciated!
Edit: Error = "Application not installed" during install.
Edit II: rebooted. Now, back to FC of "Gmail process.com.google.android.gm"... hmmm..
Edit III: Wipe app data fixed it. Duh.
Now, if I could get the background of the individual mails to be blue type on dark BG....anybody know of any gmail apps that do that? I'd be glad to kick some $ your way if you are the dev!

[Q] Using stock android apps

Is there anyway to use the stock (or even the cyanogen modded) stock apps on the DroidX2. I've already tried copying them over to system/app and correcting permissions and even with a reboot, they don't show up.
Does anyone have any suggestions? In particular the stock sms/mms app and the stock calendar application.
Thanks so much

We all want custom roms, it be nice, but we need an unlocked bootloader and i have yet to hear of anyone actively working on one for the DX2, so for now we are stuck ..
god i miss my Nexus S
I'm sure once we see an OTA update, we'll have a better chance at unlocking the bastage. At least we have a leaked SBF file to help with those who have bricked. There's more incentive to hacking.
I just downloaded the extended version of the mms app from
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/04/15/download-new-mms-apk-with-custom-settings/
So far, it seems to work other then force closing when trying to change the font size... Hopefully It'll keep on working. It isn't the latest version that comes with cyano 7 but it'll do.
Next is trying to get the extended setting version of the dialer. I think thats going to be much harder to do
Note - The messaging app does work, but it force closes everytime you send a message out, although it does send the message out. DAMN BLUR!
I use a sms/MMS app that I took from a custom ROM about a year ago. I can't stand the MOTOBLUR sms/mms app, and this one looms more like the OG Droid app.

Hi, can you explain how you did that? I tried the one off of the current cyanogenmod 7 and it didn't work, and I tried a much earlier version I found on here, but it would force close after each message it sent.
The good news is that it looks like someone has gotten a custom recovery put on their x2 so developer progress is moving forward.

I had initially installed the program from my SD card, and that worked fine for the most part. It wasn't until about a week or so ago that it started giving me problems. I finally figured out to actually copy my MMS.apk to the system/app folder and then set the permissions to rw-r-r and then rebooted. This has worked for my X² and my husband's X and now both phones are working beautifully. I used Titanium Backup Pro to freeze the stock Text Messaging so that I don't get duplicate messages.

The name of the blur text messaging app is called conversations.apk (took me forever to figure that out... ****ing motorola)

Email apk *to replace the system APK *Stock gingerbread

I got the email apk from gingerbread up and running on the nook tablet *will update with screenshot. I figured I would try and it worked so no more *****ing about the stock email app being crap. You can now fix it.
How to install:

Push to SDcard
Move to system/app using root explorer *or free alternative.
change permissions to:
Code:
Read, Write
Read
Read
^ Just like that.
then reboot
and
Enjoy
Don't forget: Backup your stock email apk, just in case.
Does this replace the B&N app when using their launcher too? I'm getting very upset with it constantly re-downloading all of my email...

the mistake I was making?
I am using Go Launcher Ex...after reboot I looked at E and M for Email or Mail...well, it wasn't there (even though I was sorting alphabetically)
It turns out, it WAS there in my app drawer...it just went to the very last page of my app drawer and was listed after Widget Locker...obviously NOT in alphabetical order, haha
Maybe you guys were also having this problem?

Yeah, exactly the same thing happened with me. Go Launcher doesn't always seem to auto-sort correctly.
Not sure if that's an error or feature of Go Launcher but it doesn't seem to happen all the time. Recently downloaded apps are placed at the end of the app draw. I like it cause I down load so many apps, I forget what I've downloaded.
Lately however, I've noticed that new apps appear in order with a little orange label in the upper right corner of the icon - I think it says new.
Awesome! Thanks, Indirect. This worked perfectly for me.
On a side note, this also fixed an issue with contacts. I was stuck with the abysmal stock contact list manager, because nothing else I installed would allow creation or editing of contacts. With the stock email app is in place, I can now use GO Contacts to create and edit contacts.
BTW: email addys open a new email, street addresses open in Google Maps, and phone numbers open chat in textPlus if you have these installed.
the download link is no longer work. Can you send me a new URL?
Thanks
Please ignore my last post. I found it at your other thread.

[MOD] Enable Camera Shutter Sound Menu

Since the Note 3 is new, and so far, there is only one custom Rom, I've seen the "how do I disable camera sounds" question asked a few times.
I'm sure your favorite developer will incorporate this feature, into future Roms, like they have in the past, for previous devices. This is mainly for us impatient noobs.
You must be rooted. Using a root explorer, navigate to /system/csc. Backup your feature.xml. Navigate to /system/csc/SPR/system/csc. Copy feature.xml. Navigate back to /system/csc. Paste the new file, over writing the old one. Open the new feature.xml, scroll to the camera section, and change:
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>false</
CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
to:
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>true</
CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
Save, exit,
Set permissions to rw-r--r--
Reboot
Note: I used 'Root Explorer'. ES File Explorer may also work.
Here is a list of potential csc parameters, gathered from other phones. I didn't create this list. I found it about a year ago, and thought it might be interesting, to play around with.
Edit: the text file came from @kkoolpatz

I edited the OP, to make it clearer, and modified the method, slightly.
One other possibility. Backup your feature.xml. Navigate to /system/csc/SPR/system/csc. Copy feature.xml. Navigate back to /system/csc. Paste the new file, over writing the old one. Open the new feature.xml, and change:
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>false</
CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
to:
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>true</
CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
(You're changing 'false' to 'true,)
Save, exit,
Set permissions to rw-r--r--
Reboot
Very useful. Thank you.
Thanks for the clarification in the OP. I now got it to work. Problem I had before was that I did not realize that I was simply changing false to true. Super simple.

Great! It's good to hear that the instructions where clear enough to be followed. There's a lot more that can be enabled, such as using the camera during calls. It's the same principle, just a matter of searching through the feature.xml, and flipping or changing the variables.

Must have missed it. I was going to post the same thing since that was one of the first things I did when rooted but never got around to it. Glad someone posted it for others. Always good to share info. However you should have done it in the DEV section with a [MOD] Tag. Post some of the other tweaks too. It'll disappear here in General.

I had a bunch of these edits, when I had my Note 2. I'll have to dig through, and see what additional features we can enable on the Note 3. Any help is definitely appreciated.
Geez, i wonder why Sprint wont include this option by default. On the at&t Note 3, the option to silence is already baked in.

Sprint can't afford a lawsuit when some idiot takes a silent upskirt photo and someone decides to sue them for not having it make noise.
I'm on stock rooted and es explorer gives me a permission denied error when I try to overwrite features.xml from the SPR folder to system/csc, also unable to rename or edit directly from system/csc but I can copy and paste elsewhere to back up.

Open ES File Explorer and tap the phone menu button. A pane should open on the left side of the screen. Scroll to the bottom, and turn "Root Explorer" on. When the Super User prompt pops up, be sure to allow it.
Root explorer was already on, but I toogled on off just in case and it still fails. See screenshots

I'm not sure what the problem is. ES File had some problems with root, about a year ago, but I thought they got that fixed. I use it everyday, but not the root functions. Maybe you can try going into SuperSU, selecting ES File, and tapping "forget", then go back into ES, and accept the SU prompt.

Still failing after forgetting, I also reinstalled both ES and SU and no good. Any other free root explorers I can test? Or can anyone else using es verify if it's working for them?

I downloaded 'Root Browser' from the play store and this did the trick, ES Explorer is having root issues with the Note 3, well at least on my phone since no one else confirmed. I added the shutter menu (working) , enabled camera during calls (working), and tried to add a call button from the logs list but this didn't appear to work.
Thanks again!
