Did you follow the all of the instructions when you installed CM 7 since are coming from FR008?
Format the system, data & cache partitions of your device.
Perform a factory reset.
Flash CyanogenMod.
Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.

yeah i did that but i didnt see market or anything..

Sounds like you may have a bad download of the Google Apps. Try using this link:
http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip
Try downloading straight to your phone and then flash from ClockworkMod.

I think you are confused on how to install the Google apps properly.
At step 4, you should choose install zip from SD card, then select the Cyanogenmod zip file and let it install it. Once it has finished, you should then choose install zip from SD card again and then choose the gapps zip file and let it install that. You should reboot the phone only after installing both zip files, one after the other.
You can also save yourself a lot of potential headaches by formatting the system partition before installing. You also didn't mention the dalvik cache but I'm assuming you did that as well. If it's still unclear, here's the whole process you should be following for a clean install:
1) Boot into Clockworkmod
2) Wipe data/factory reset
3) Wipe cache partition
4) Advanced > Wipe dalvik cache
5) Partitions menu > format system
6) Install zip from sdcard, select Cyanogenmod zip file
7) Install zip from sdcard, select gapps zip file
8) Reboot

Thanks for your direction. I have the Cyanogenmod running stably and I installed the Google Apps thereafter. Since I installed the Google Apps, my phone has been restarting after, say, 3 minutes of startup. Can you help me please.

Make sure you got the correct version of gapps for cm7. It should read something like: gapps-gb-20110503.zip.

HALP!

Ok. i followed the guide at the top of this forum to root my device. Everything seemed to work peachy. No errors, no nothing. I then attempted to use CWR to install Cyanogenmod 7.1. I used the guide on the Cyanogenmod wiki ***Link removed because of posting rules***
Because I rooted from here and installed CWR, I started at the part near the bottom.
Download the latest version of CyanogenMod.
Optional: Download the Google Apps for the device.
Place the CyanogenMod update.zip file on the root of the SD card.
Optional: Place the Google Apps .zip on the root of the SD card also.
Boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery.
Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side volume buttons to move around, and either the power button or the trackball to select.
Optional: Select backup and restore to create a backup of current installation on the Samsung Galaxy S II (AT&T).
Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
Then select the option to Wipe cache partition.
Select Install zip from sdcard.
Select Choose zip from sdcard.
Select the CyanogenMod update.zip.
Optional: Install the Google Apps by performing steps 7 - 9 again and choosing the Google Apps update.zip.
Once the installation has finished, select +++++Go Back+++++ to get back to the main menu, and select the Reboot system now option. The Samsung Galaxy S II (AT&T) should now boot into CyanogenMod.

The problem i have though is that when my device boots, it goes to the Samsung Splash screen and sits there with a yellow exclamation point. Does nothing else.
i did boot back into CWR and run my backup, so my phone is back, but I'm still clueless as to what would cause this. Any help please.
you need to go into CWM...format system and cashe, factory reset/data wipe....then install CM7, try it like that it should work.....some people have said to flash the CM7zip twice!
I did just notice something. The Zip for Cyan is titled "Update-cm-7.1.0-Galaxys2ATT-signed.zip". Does that mean it's an update and not the full install?

2.2 to Slim Bean 4.1.2

Sorry, I am new to all of this. I recently just rooted my t959 and it is running on 2.2. I've been looking for tuts on how to update to Slim Bean 4.1.2, but haven't found any. I also don't understand the OP instructions.
Upgrading Slim Bean
Unless we specify otherwise in changelog
Reboot to recovery, wipe cache, dalvik cache then just flash your device zip. If you were with SlimBean 2.7 or newer you are done, all your addons will be backed up.
If you are on an earlier SlimBean version then 2.7 please flash also all the addons you need. Reboot.
From Froyo/GB Rom to SlimBean
Get yourself booted with cm9 or cm10. then follow the steps "From another JB or ICS ROM"
From another JB or ICS Rom to SlimBean
Download device_x.x.zip, slim_gapps.zip.
Enter CWM, wipe data, format system ( in mounts and storage)
Flash Device_x.x.zip***, then MUST flash slim_gapps.zip (other files optional)
*** - If the flash is too quick ( < 5 seconds or so), reflash device before flashing common or other zip files.

Would anyone be kind enough to post a step by step or a link on how to update it?
Much thanks.

Since SlimBean is based off CyanogenMod 9/10 and needs alot of the kernel/firmware flashes, you must flash CM 10 or 9 before flashign Slim Bean.
The easiest way to do this is through ClockworkMod Recovery and the easiest way to get ClockworkMod installed is through ROM Manager.
1. Download ROM Manager through Play Store
2. Open up ROM Manager and select the first option "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"
3. Download CyanogenMod 10 and the latest Slim Bean which should be version 2.8
4. Reboot into recovery through the option in ROM Manager
5. Clear data, cache, and Dalvik cache.
6. Install ZIP from SD Card > Choose ZIP from SD Card > Pick CyanogenMod 10 FIRST
7. Let it flash all the way through and then reboot your phone when you are back at the recovery menu
8. Boot into CyanogenMod 10 ROM and play around to make sure everything is working and good
9. Go into Play Store and install ROM Manager again
10. This time, just boot into recovery. No need to reflash ClockworkMod since you already have it.
11. Clear data, cache, and Dalvik cache.
12. Install ZIP from SD Card > Choose ZIP from SD Card > Pick SlimBeanT959 rom this time
13. Reboot into SlimBean to make sure everything works. If so, go back into recovery and flash the Slim Gapps and whatever else you may want to use.
Good luck and enjoy SlimBean.

[Q] I'm stuck watching the flying colored pieces and it never boots

HI, I followed jacobmacek's instructions twice:
HOW TO INSTALL
1.Wipe Cache+Dalvik
2.Flash ROM, then flash THIS
3.Reboot and Launch Play Store to setup your account
4.Wipe Cache+Dalvik Again And You're Done!
All I get when I reboot is the screen where you see colored pieces spinning and floating . I let it sit for 5 minutes and no boot so I pulled the battery. Did I wait long enough? Am I doing something wrong?.
Santods instructions went a few steps further but I havent tried his method on this rom:
~Suggested Install Procedure~
** PLEASE READ **
____________
Use 4ext Recovery
(not really required, but highly recommended!)
Select Wipe/Format Menu Option
Wipe cache and dalvik
In the same Wipe/Format Menu: Wipe all partitions except SD
Now back in 4ext main menu: Select Tools
Select Format ext3 option
Format Cache
Format Data
Format System
Now go back to the main menu and select the rom .zip to install
Thanks for your help
You need to wipe system as well. Sounds Like your only wiping dalvik and cache. It's the first option in the wipe menu in the recovery I belive.

OK, i'LL TRY IT THAT WAY, actually Ill use Santod's install method to be safe. I hope he updates his OP so other's aren't misled. (unintentionally, of course)
Alls good now, I followed Santod's instructions on how to install. I am going to assume that is the best way for a fresh install.

So how do I install it?
I've looked into the other installation guides but those are for CM10.2 (Andorid 4.3) so I think its different installation method from 10.1, but I cant find a tutorial
C'mon...Read the first page of the CM10 thread & follow the installation instructions. Doesn't take a MENSA member to get it done
If you have used titanium backup root hayz to backup game data. Want to install a new ROM to install it into RECOVERY. If the rom you download it tails. ZIP Remember to wipe data + cache + dakvil before.
My device GT-i9100G
note: im always start all my flash from stock ROM (meaning stock JB 4.1.2)
my usual method, all can be done in the phone, no need odin if youre already stock;
-download all related file, CM10.1.3, CM GApps, Blazing kernel v8 (if you dont want your binary counter to change)...put them in external SD
-boot into recovery, select apply update from external storage, select file blazing kernel v8, let it finish and reboot normally
-then reboot into recovery again and install your Cm10.1.3 and GApps by navigating to your external SD (sorry cant remember the path)
-after finish installing both above file, let it reboot...if bootloop, reboot back into recovery and wipe data, cache and dalvik, and then reboot
now your CM10.1.3 is ready~
-hit thanks if my post helps you-
