Anyone got a Matte screen protector ?. - Eee Pad Transformer Accessories

If so does it do a good job with the light glare and make fingerprints less noticeable ?.

I got a custom cut one from www.photodon.com and it works alright, a lot less finger prints and helps with the glare.

[Q] How about an anti-glare protector?

I find the glare on the TF acceptable by tilting the tablet, but ideally it should be controlled.
Amazon advertises an anti-glare protector with five good reviews, but I would trust members of this forum if any has experience with one.

Most screen protectors that reduce glare will have a matte finish to them. They are also very good at reducing finger prints. However, the downside is you may lose some clarity and brightness because they let less light pass through.
I had the protector from www.posr.us and it did a very good job at the glare; but required me to crank of the brightness and also reduced clarity IMO. I think it's hard to have both, clarity and colors in addition to glare reduction. You may need to decide which is more important to you.
Try Steinheil's (SGP) ultra fine screen protector. It not only reduces glare, but also cuts down the visibility of fingerprint markings.

I was waiting for SGP to release one for the transformer, just now I saw that they have!!
I have one of their anti-fingerprint / anti-glare protectors on my Galaxy S, and it is the best anti-glare protector I have ever used. I have been using SGP products for a while now, they are bit pricy , but far superior than the crap you find on eBay, IMO the cost is totally justifiable. Going to order one right now

Yes, you loose some clarity, but if you get a good one from a company like SGP you won't notice much of a difference in brightness.
Is there a real difference between UF and SQ Steinheil ?
I have the Posrus one, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005212ZGE Wouldn't use Transformer without it.

How do you deal with smears on the screen?

Anyone found a way to handle those horrible smears on the screen?
Sometimes, especially at night, I find myself wiping the screen again n again just so I can read the article i'm on.
I bought a cheap eBay screen protector, but it did not help with the smears ):
any advice?
Thanks!
Get a matte screen protector.. no more smears ever.. tho colors will never be what they used to be

when mine gets smudges I just wipe the phone on my powerful chest....
I use (Meguiars) car carnauba wax paste version Just use an amount less then a grain of rice and apply it to the screen and rub it into the screen working from center to out. Wait a couple of minutes and buff it out. Just make sure you avoid areas such as Ear piece and the crevices of the sides of the screen. Works wonder to inhibit oils from your fingers I'm sure other carnauba paste works as well.
edit: I forgot to mention use a good quality microfiber cloth to do this.

Haha, I was about the say that same thing. I wipe them on my Brawny Man size arm... like a man.
If you're going to get a screen protector, I'd suggest SGP anti fingerprint screens. I've tried other cheaper anti matte/fingerprint screens and the SGP is better. Some picture quality will get lost and you'll get this 'rainbow' effect. It is a trade off, but the pros outweigh the cons for me.
pros:
-less fingerprints, I think I have to wipe my screen like once a month.
-smoother swyping, the matte finish makes sliding way smoother (there is a slight noise when sliding though).
-less glare
cons:
-slight loss of pic quality
Windex glass cleaner and a paper towel

[Review] Anti-Glare, Anti-Fingerprint screen protector from Acase

The Product:

The Review:
Well, like many TF201 owners, I suffer from disappointment with the glossy finish on the Prime's screen. It's hard to show off your tablet/laptop hybrid when you open it up and it's covered in oil from our fingers. Luckily, Acase has a solution.
This screen protector does exactly what it is described to do:
1-Protects the screen (yes, it's "gorilla glass" but that doesn't mean it's beyond extra protection)
2- applies a matte finish to the screen
3- drastically decreases the presence of fingerprints
I can officially say that this product was applied by ME (and I have no professional training in applying screen protectors) and the application process went well with no dirt/dust/bubbles.
They ship the screen protectors in a box which is nice because it helps protect from any bending that could occur en route.
The only con I can think of at this point is the same con you'll get on any matte screen protector, the screen does lose a little clarity. In my opinion, however, the loss in clarity is not enough to even care about.
In conclusion, if you want a solution to the glossy screen and the presence of fingerprints, I highly recommend this product. I am pleased with my purchase and the product is working the way it should.

Looks great. Sounds good too. I'm curious how the screen feels, same as without the protector? Just curious if it hinders sliding the fingers much.

I wonder what the longevity is of this anti-glare screen protector.
In my experience after a few months the texture gets worn smooth in spots from repeated finger rubbing. Also after a few weeks they get "gummy" and lose some of their fingerprint resistance while at the same time becoming a bit more difficult to clean.
Also, how does this skin work with styli?
I am currently switching between the Griffin GC16040 and the Jot Classic. Does a skin like this one reduce the sensitivity of a stylus significantly? The Jot in particular is very much affected even by smooth screen protectors.

I'm writing this with the Acase stylus and anti-glare protector. The stylus seems to be just as responsive now just like before applying the screen protector. The protector does take away some brightness; however, I'm not having to clean the screen every 5 minutes. I highly recommend it.

In my opinion, I like how my finger slides better with this screen protector than without it.
My hypothesis is this:
Since the screen protector repels oils, I'm assuming that there isn't a layer of accumulated oil between the finger and the screen, thus allowing for better movement upon the screen.
Also, my Minisuit stylus works quite well with it. I would say it works just as well as without a screen protector.
I'm pleased with this purchase.

This type of screen protector doesn't repel oil at all. In fact over time most of them will absorb oils from your hand.
The reason that your finger slides easy is that the surface is textured which reduces the surface area that you finger actually makes contact with, which in turn reduces friction.
Incidentally the texture is the same reason why fingerprints show up less easily, since some of the oils from your fingers will slip below the highest surfaces of the screen protector so that you don't see it.
However like I said in my other post, textured screen protectors tend to get worn smooth after a few months of regular use, which makes me wonder how long this one will last.
Keep us posted!
Thanks for the review.. though about a week too late!
I ordered the minisuit anti-glare / anti-fingerprint.. guess we'll see if it's much different than the Acase stuff when it comes in in a few days.

I've just bought two kinds of Seidio screen protectors

I'll post up a review and some photos of both when I get them. Maybe this'll help some of you in making a decision.
I grabbed the crystal clear pair as well as the "HD fingerprint reducing" pair.
Thanks. I bought the HD fingerprint reducing one, but I'm not terribly impressed with the fingerprint reduction. It looks clear, though. It is a bit "stickier" than other Seidio screen protectors I've used in the past, but still quite usable. I prefer the slick feeling screen protectors.

Pretty spot on with my feelings.
It's DEFINITELY less sticky than no screen protector, and definitely less sticky than the standard high gloss screen protectors, but it's nowhere near as glide-able as the full matte finish ones.
I'm happy with this compromise, the fingerprints never bothered me too terribly much, but the stickiness of it makes swype a lot more difficult to use effectively. In the future I may try to use a full matte finish one.
The static cling protectors though, NO ROOM FOR ERROR. If you have to lift it up and replace it it's nearly impossible to keep it clean. Do it in your bathroom, run your shower hot and get it nice and humid (helps keep dust down)
The case is nice, I didn't bother taking any pictures because there's really nothing superbly special about either.

Problem with matte screen protectors

Hey guys, I just got some cheap MATTE Anti Glare Screen Protector from ebay for my sxs. The protector feels great, it does not leave any dust or finger prints, and feels fantastic when playing games. BUT! I don't know if its the material, after installing the screen protector, the screen resolution some how downgrades...anyone had matte before knows what I'm talking about. I really love how the screen feels, but it just messes up the beautiful screen. Is there anything like that on the market, but doesn't mess up the screen resolution? Please let me know!!!
it's a known issue of the antiglare screen protector....i got xtremeguard from ebay and it's better then zagg... and fits perfectly the screen... is so amazing  (just a little orange peel 90% less then zagg)
Typical of all matte protectors as its not a smooth surface.
