You need to put your ringtones on SDcard (/sdcard/ringtones), because I deleted them from system, for clean up, and make it faster, if you want default android ringtones say me, and I will give it to you.

many thanks. bloody love this rom. the best i have had so far and the most stable.

nice work i will test it tomorow

im giving it a go, been using owain's and slade's roms (and the other dev's work) for a while now. Apologies for not posting feedback, I end up browsing these forums late at night on a school night hunting for updates aha, and i'm too tired to test after installing until the next day.
Anyway, I notice there's the MIUI camera still in there next to the SE camera app. This can be removed by deleting the camera.apk in /system/app/.. which im sure you know as you've done all the rest ^^ just pointing out incase you didn't notice.
Something i've noticed recently though with roms is that although they're listed as practically stable/fast. Quite a lot of the time i get freezes/crash and then reboot. ¬¬ THOUGH, that's probably because i haven't cleanly installed these roms in a while (just been installing custom zip.. rather than the whole procedure of restore with sepc, rooting, getting xrecovery etc.
Thanks though, it's certainly more feels a bit quicker and it's serving as my replacement for now

Well, that's not a MIUI camera, it's android stock, that actually it's pretty good , but guys, we have 2 cameras and 2 galleries, what do you suggest, let it with 2 cameras and galleries, or deleting SE one, that cant record video?
Thanks for your opinion, and btw if you're facing crashes & reboots, put processor frequency, on 600 mhz.

Actually one excellent feature of miui is the player that can show lyrics. not that bad after all!
XDA ♥

Yeah, everything have nice things, but I just cant live with all that apps, 5 for music, 5 for gallery , So i choose what i think is better, and i think HC music player, it's kinda better on interface
Next release won't have album or camera by SE, only Android default

Ohhh, sorry my bad.
Edit: ahh not used to this app, sorry.
Video recording works fine for me in the se camera app :/. Personally, I'm not a fan of clutter, so I've removed the android camera app etc. Which I don't use with root explorer. It's not hard to do for people with root explorer, so there's probably not too much need to re-cook? the rom with a couple of apps less. I do love the music player . As for crash and reboots, i tried 600mhz, but then it gets quite laggy in animations etc. and still crashes.

JustPictures - best photo viewing app on android?

just tried it
that whole concept sony was working on - tapping and sliding up the finger to zoom into a pic is already enabled on this app
thumbnails load so much faster than mediascaped..and once cache is made..its fastt
thumbnails are also big..and scrolling is so smooth.
swiping to change pics is so much more responsive.
finally i can delete the mediascape from the home screen..and enjoy taking pics on my phone.
I feel you must miss something....
have you tried those custom rom around?
actually our 2.1 came with stock gallery but sony just hid, which still far better than just pic.
search market for enable gallery, it's small tool to unhide it.
The stock gallery is good, although I think JP is a good bit better... You can do full res zoom, which is great to check if your pics came out good when you take them
Main problems with JP are:
1. Too frequent updates.
2. Full res zoom does not work any more...
However, given the frequency of updates, I'm sure they'll fix that soon enough...
I love justpics

I have to re-do all my ignored folders, so yeah, it's a pain...
Agreed, frequent updates shows a developer who cares, but too frequent shows a sloppy developer (IMO)...
Also uses up precious data.
nonetheless, JP still rocks.

once you ignored the folders, JP will keep it ignored!
you can just upgrade a newer version over the older ones...
it forgets only if you clear your cache or change the cache settings!
Thanks for using JP!

Nice app, but the map view is way off course!

I'm the developer of JP. Thanks for the good comments
The fact that settings such as authentication, passwords and excluded folders are lost after clearing the cache is actually a bug... Just fixed it now, and it will be in next release.
It is true that I make frequent updates to the app, but I believe I always add a little something in it to make it worse upgrading. I also try to fix bugs that are discovered... I strongly feel like the overall quality of JP has improved a lot overtime, in the way that I introduce less bugs when I release. This is due to the comments and feedback I receive on the beta channel !
Developing such an application is a real commitment for a single developer. Every feature that is added is hours of work, and hours of sleep time gone away Beta tester can verify I work on it a lot on week ends

My favorite picture viewer is Android Comic Viewer (ACV) - Best part is it works with zip file so you can zip hundreds of pics into a single zip file and viewed with ACV. easily zoom in / out, bookmark of last view pic, very fast etc ... no thumbnail though
If you have thousands of pics, it's a pain to wait for gallery to create the thumbnails.

[Q] Facebook Inside Xperia

anyone got the retail Xperia Inside Facebook for some rom 2.2
It's integrated with Android stock from SE. So I don't think you'll see it on 2.2.1 Custom ROMs, MIUI and CyanogenMod working.
once the official gb rom is released it might be able to get it running on other roms

Notifications barely use much data, it's plain text.
What would be heavy on data-usage could be the integration of FB Photos in the Gallery.

i tried installing CM 7 and i had my X10 in a bootloop, so im still a bit scared to do it. thats y im impasiently waiting for 2.3.
i got high data usage on my X10 while phone is in sleep mode and i dont know which app is eating my data...thats also why i cnt wait for 2.3 coz there are apps to monitor that but only work from 2.2 upwards.
i think facebook inside is also going to be sooo cool too

As some haters would say, SE is again behind.
Now that Google+ starts to take over, SE integrated Facebook in their firmware!!
Just kidding, but it is true that I've grown tired of Facebook!

You just get them, you don't have to do anything special.
For SMS you need to use stock app, 3rd party apps will not work.

Wouldn't be that much more as the gallery will only display thumbnails (few kb each). The images themselves are external until viewed and cached (probably still low res) or downloaded. So really there should be no particular increase in data over browsing the images with the facebook app, via browser, or using the gallery.

[Q] Stripping down MiniCM6 & replacing SE stock camera in miniCM6

ok, am a newbie here and this is my first post, so please be gentle if i go wrong or violate any rule of the forum. basically, i wish to know what are the applications that we can strip out of the MiniCM6 ROM. i got rid of many .apk's which i felt was not actually needed by me. Eg - Development.apk, DPS Manager .apk, CMWallpapers.apk, LiveWallpapers.apk, etc.
i also got rid of the stock MiniCM camera app and replaced with the Stock SE Mini camera app...the picture quality has improved significantly than the MiniCM's bundled camera app.
Could you pls shed some light on how exactly you ported the stock SE camera to miniCM6 as i ve been trying this for a while now but still not able to. Thanks.
please make a rom, call it "Minimalist MiniCM" for the average joe. ill beta test!

get root explorer v2.15,install it and open it.tap "mount as r/w", next go to your root/system/app (again tap "mount as r/w" if it is r/o) and delete the "camera.apk" there. then, copy the attached file (DO not install now) to root/system/app. next, "click and hold" the copied file and open "permissions" and tick all the permissions. next click the camera.apk and select "install". done!!
enjoy your Camera!!!!....the only problem is that if you have to delete your file, u have to navigate it manually and delete it, u cannot delete it in the "camera preview" mode, it will FC the camera.

that is a nice idea, but since it is just a stripped down version of a ROM, will i not be violating any rules or something????....u know, i am a noob, not very much familiar with the rules of the forum
since i have uninstalled MOST of the apps, my battery life has increased significantly. the available space in phone storage is 202 MB!!!!!....i even got rid of MOST of the "data" involving apps including GMaps, street plugin & twitter(Silly, i know!!! but i actually don't need them and they run on the background to eat up the battery and also my available data).
the overall experience is the cell runs faster and the battery is almost running for 1 and a half day with moderate to heavy use.
i am already convinced, make a rom AND RELEASE IT TO THE PUBLIC! plz
My changes:
The following apps are removed:
1.AndroidTerm.apk
2.CarHomeGoogle.apk
3.CarHomeLauncher.apk
4.CMWallpapers.apk
5.Development.apk
6.DSPManager.apk
7.GenieWidget.apk
8.GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk (don't get anxious, u WILL get a google search box, EVEN if i removed this )
9.HTC_IME_lo15.apk
10.Launcher2.apk
11.LauncherPro -0.8.4.1.apk
12.LiveWallpapers.apk (livewallpaperpicker.apk is still there, so u can pick your own LWP, just uninstalled the included livewallpapers)
13.MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk
14.MAPS.apk (silly, i know )
15.MUSIC.apk (replaced it with the 2.3 Gingerbread music app)
16.Radio.apk
17.Soundback.apk
18.SoundRecorder.apk
19.street.apk
20.LatinIME.apk (installed the gingerbread keyboard instead)
21.Camera.apk (uninstalled the MiniCM camera app and replaced it with the stock SE x10 mini camera app. the quality of the pictures are better and the video recording got back the continious autofocus back )
22. VoiceSearch.apk
23.VoiceDialer.apk
Added:
1. Simple Task Manager .apk
2.App 2 SD pro.apk
3.Stock SECamera.apk
4.Gingerbread keyboard.apk
5.Zeam Launcher (it is the lightest launcher which incoporates multitouch "pinch to zoom")
6.RootExplorer v2.15 .apk
7.SlideIT keyboard .apk (Swype replacement for x10 mini)
My question is, can i release it WITHOUT offending respectable developers and the forum rules????

Give proper credits and links to the original ROM in your main post and I doubt anybody will be offended
As long as you give people credit it's fine, everything is open source, thats the beauty of Android.
Having said that, I don't really see the point of doing it! It would be much easier for people wanting a stripped version just to uninstall the apps themselves. Get Titanium Backup from the market and uninstall all the .apk files listed in a previous post and you've done it! Much easier than having to backup everything, and install a Rom then fiddle with all your settings again to get them all how you like them

Also, you wouldn't be able to release one that had Root Explorer pre-installed, that's a paid app (and well worth paying for! )

What do you lose when leaving stock OS (Touchwiz)?

Hello,
I've been on stock kernel/OS since I bought my unbranded I9100 some time ago, that means Gingerbread 2.3.4, I9100XXKI1, Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI4-CL575468 (rooted, of course).
I'm thinking about trying CM9 or CM10, just for fun. I think I know pretty well what to expect, but am trying to figure out if there are things I will be missing. As far as I can tell, the following will change significantly:
- Touchwiz launcher replaced, of course. No biggie.
- Swype will be gone, right? I played around with CM way back, and there seemed to be some discussions about how to take Swype with you, but I assume this will be rather hard when going from Gingerbread to JB? Or is there a good way to keep it (without buying it separately)? I like it rather a lot...
- The four hubs (Social Hub etc.) will be gone. Good riddance, as well, I've never used any of them.
- I've not used any of the Samsung remote features (to locate a stolen/lost device; OTA, or KIES), so I guess they will be gone, but I won't miss them.
Is there anything else I've missed that's been added by Samsung? I want to avoid a problem where I don't actually notice anything important missing at first, and then noticing weeks later...
Thank you for your time!
I noticed my camera was missing on one of them.

No tv out. No fm radio. If swype is the keyboard typing style, i dont think thats gone, but i will check.
Camera is still better in stock touchwiz. Also, clear ram from recent apps isnt there.

You could use titanium backup to backup all of your (system) apps. If something (important) turns out to be missing, you can restore it easily. Apart from that, flash it, you won't be disappointed. Good luck with exploring all the possibilities.

Apps only in touchwiz wont work in aosp roms since they are deeply integrated within the touchwiz framework, so no use backup app system apps nor system data. Restoring system data may cause problems ranging from bootloops to force closes.

Alright, the clock. I use that a lot, all of it (alarm + timer + stopwatch). That would be a bummer to loose, I guess there will be some useful replacements on the market though.
There are plenty of camera apps around. Can I safely assume that the picture quality (as it is) will be the same as with the stock camera app? I use the camera for taking pictures, I need no effects, online stuff etc. around photos. In fact I am not that happy with the stock camera, as I find it tough to shoot a photo when I don't see the screen... so I'll be happy to hunt for a camera app that supports some of the hardware buttons for shooting.

Is there a way to see which app is Samsung specific, on the phone itself? Or is basically *any* app that shipped with it either in gapps or by Samsung/Touchwiz?
Thanks a lot, again.

Thanks for the great additions, guys (& gals)!
Well yes, but I'll have to register/pay for it, or don't I?
Is there a way to see which app is Samsung specific, on the phone itself? Or is basically *any* app that shipped with it either in gapps or by Samsung/Touchwiz?
Thanks a lot, again.

Swype is free and so is the registration and download. Visit the website on your Android browser.

Hello,
I've been on stock kernel/OS since I bought my unbranded I9100 some time ago, that means Gingerbread 2.3.4, I9100XXKI1, Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI4-CL575468 (rooted, of course).

You will loose different things, but alot of the things you will miss by first boot you can find here on XDA or on playstore.
And you will probably loose your warranty...

CM 9 is not that good.. additionally you lose call blocking ability but you can download the app.. there is an app for everything but you know.. your really gonna miss touchwiz,
I did.. and I would have moved off cm9 by now cause my battery was draining pretty bad on the rom however after 3 days the battery time was back to normal which is weird..

Thanks for answering. But there is a way, semc debrand doesn't have that bug, but i can't seem to find the file that makes keyboard work completely, till now it's the only rom with that thing fixed.

Hey, bro, been working on this for the last few days, can't seem to find the special file(s) to get it work, but you are right, there MUST be a way... Lets keep on trying .
PS: Windows phone series ROM almost finished, only bug until now is radio... Just asked all devs for permissions and will be uploading soon. If you're still willing to test, I'll PM you the link.

Those files can only be in the folders app/framework/permissions/init'd but there are so many fu..... files in those folders of that rom that is difficult to discover something xD, yap we gotta keep trying .
Ps: How come radio has bug? if you use a base without a radio bug then the radio should work fine, only case i see is if the problem is the radio.apk itself and that way you just have to change the radio.apk for another one and of course ask permission to use that radio.apk app xD, but yes if you fix that and you think the rom is giving better battery life and stuff like that then i wanna try it . Other good news is that Vince will be updating his rom in a 5 days time , i hope that the keyboard scrolling will be fixed in this version, and if it is then we could see if we find the special files we are looking for and see what do we have to change or edit .
I has been testing roms since the froyo builds, and haven't see yet any rom, with that keyboard that doesn't have that bug.
the only thing is to avoid fast scrolling to the end of the list.
but good luck in your quest.

Yes it's true that all roms have that bug, but there is only one xception: semc debrand rom, that rom doesn't have the scrolling bug, but unfortunately the rest of the rom is still buggy to use, so that's why i'm trying to find that rom's file or folder that can fix that bug.
Thanks mate.
