Best place in Canada to buy a KNOWN WORKING USB extension cable for the TF? - Eee Pad Transformer Accessories

I have tried 3 different brands of USB 2.0 cables and come to the conclusion that only true USB 3.0 would work with the TF (though I would LOVE to be proven wrong).
Where are people getting their extension cables? I refuse to believe that people are living with this horribly short charging cable. It doesn't even reach from my outlet to my desk without an extension cord.
Normally I buy cables like this from Monoprice or DealExtreme or dollar stores, but in this case i would rather find one that someone knows works. I have checked in The Source and Future Shop and could not find any USB 3.0 extension cables.

There is a thread about it called "Short Cable".
Some have bought from amazon.com. Some from Monoprice.
Since I'm in Canada as well, I saw some at Canada Computers and are $10 for 3ft and 13 for 6ft.
I'm taking a chance with Dealextreme for $5.80.

Good to know, might get that one.

Bought the 6 ft at Canada Computers ican brand and it works for me.
I ordered one from Dealextreme so I'll let you know if that works as well.
I wish they come in black.

I ended up ordering one from monoprice... I'll report back after getting it.

[Q] Good Micro USB Cable?

Does anyone know where I can find a micro USB cable replacement that is compatible with Samsung's drivers?
My original cable crapped out, so I bought a Gigaware to replace it; phone charges fine.
However, know matter which drivers I try (or cpu), I can no longer get a cpu to recognize my phone.
And I of course need this functionality in order to use Odin (yay!).
T-mobile does not sell the original cable.
Any ideas or advice?
Thanks!
Idk but I do know LG does not work I've tried 3 different ones so far. No joy. So avoid those. Its not much but I hope it helped.

Thanks Twisted. Helps me know what to avoid.
Anyone know of/have one that works?
Been using this for about a month now, nice cable, works perfect. $6 is not bad either.

Awesome, thanks.
Ordering.
I have tried most USB cables out there and I'd recommend ORIGINAL cable since its nice and long and perfectly thin for a microusb yet high quality

only $1 here with waaaay much better reviews than the one you posted.
I'd personally think that the RIM brand is better quality build, though I could be wrong, and as far as reviews go, the cable I bought was nice and sturdy and can take quite a beating and works just fine :-/ To each his own!
Went with the cable from monoprice because shipping was MUCH cheaper.
Will post results on receipt.
On a recent stopover in Hong Kong, I bought several cheapie cables. These ended up being neither cheap, nor functional. They cost $2-3 each. And were only good for providing power to the phone.
At home, I have several cables from various devices (e.g. Logitech Harmony remotes, Blackberry, Motorola ...). All of these cables work just fine.
So the moral of the story is to stay away from cheapie no-name brand cables.

These cheap no brand cables are rare and useful. Try charging with them. Many of them charge 2X as fast as a normal cable, as the device recognizes the charging as 'AC' instead of 'USB'
Edit: haha I just noticed how old this thread was
wirelesss freak can u post a link to order a few such ones and get it shipped to inida?
thanx

+1 for monoprice
I picked up a 3ft and 6ft lengths in black and "splurged" the extra few cents to get ferrite cores and the thicker gage power wiring (28/24 vs. 28/28 as they list it).
In comparison to the Samsung OEM cable, they have "chunkier" heads with harder and thicker plastic. They don't interfere with the phone housings in any way and are much more cat-proof. My cat made swiss cheese out of the ends of one of my Samsung cables.
The thicker gage wiring option is nice if you anticipate cable abuse (stepping on it, pinching the cable in doorways, etc) - great for vehicles and small kids. The thicker wiring does however results in a notably stiffer cable, so I can't easily wrap one tightly around my palm, for example.
For the prices they charge you could easily get many for the "price of one" in a brick and mortar store, so if you're one to deliberate to excess you could just order a few different options knowing you'll get something to your liking .
FYI - the best cable for Samsung phones and drivers are the blackberry ones IMHO there chunky on the tip and the wire is thicker than SAMMY's good luck everyone

Well, I'm thinking about just buying a micro usb to usb B cable converter.
Then, just go to any thrift store and buy a USB B cable that would come with a printer. Those things are everywhere and cheap. Unfortunately I've only seen the converter online, and it sells for 7USD.

Dealextreme Asus transformer chargers

I recently saw that Dealextreme is stocking two wall chargers for the Asus Transformer series of tablets
One with the proprietary connector built in
http://dx.com/p/ac-power-adapter-ch...101-tf201-sl101-black-2-round-pin-plug-137392
and one with a 15v USB port
http://dx.com/p/ac-power-adapter-ch...mer-tf101-tf201-black-2-round-pin-plug-126492
has anyone tried them? I think I'll order the one with the proprietary connector, and so if it fails, I'll still have the connector to tinker. Also, if it works, I'll get to keep the cable at home, protected, instead of in my messenger bag.
I have tried the one with the 15v USB port - and it works just fine.
The best value for money (as always from DX).
i could buy those charger on ebay.. but what is the review about those chargers
I use second and i dont have any problems.:good:
Bought the one with the proprietary connector built in from them - works just fine.
I bought one from ebay here. It works great and you don't have to worry about that stupid asus brick crapping out on you.
Anyway, it's good to have one functioning properly with charger connected.

How to use this in the US? Is the round-pin connector removable?
TIA;
Pat
This one is half the price of the asus, available with amazon prime, and got REALLY good reviews. Just ordered one today, will provide feedback when received.

USA version of the non USB one can also be found for that seller (Flat pin plugs). Search tf101 charger. I'd give you the link but I dont have rights yet.

nokia wireless charger for sale 50% @ AT&T

I got excited thinking it was the Nokia charging stand but no just the plate. They go for $30 new everywhere but full retail is like $45. Wish it was the stand for that price!
Got one of these and after putting some magnets in it to hold the phone in place and using some 2 sided tape to hold it to my desk its great. Only beef if that it does not use a normal USB cable but I swapped out the plugs so I can use my micro USB cable. But if you use this you will need to keep the stock ac adapter as it is 12 volts and remember not to use that to charge up your phone wired.
Great charger and the sweet sport for the DNA on it is huge.

I'd love to replace my bulkie Nokia adapter with a USB brick.
Ditto. My cat chewed my Nokia cable which is pretty much impossible to replace on it's own (I've tried contacting Nokia a few times and they've been unhelpful) so my charger is useless. If only this thing used a USB cable...
Basicly you just order the female ends online. Check the pin out. Pin 1 is power. Pin 4 is ground. Just desolder the stock jack solder the new micro USB in. Epoxy it down to hold it the trim the case to fit the new plug. I'll get some pics and part numbers and make a guide and post it when I get a chance.

I've got a couple of these, one for work and one for home. I don't think they look that great and the wall wart is huge, but they're well made and they do the job.
Cool

last time this happened, i went via the employee discount page from work, and it took another 50% off (12.50 total).
It works great, even w/ the diztronic case.
Went ahead and ordered from AT&T. It'll be nice to not have to deal with the plug!
I love mine and got it from at&t I wish they had more colors but for the price it can't be beat. Been using mine for a month no problems so far * knock on wood*.

Mine came the very next day. So far I'm very pleased with it. Very convenient... The only possible issue I see with it is the charging light never goes out even though the phone is fully charged.

Can anyone recommend a cable from amazon or eBay?

Hello,
I have patched my original tf300t charge/data cable too many times and need a new one. I have been eyeballing the longer cords like 10ft and 6.5ft on amazon and eBay. Has anyone bought one and liked it? Can you give me the link? Does it charge quickly? Thicker then original?
Thanks!
Instead of buying a 'rare' cable (custom Asus connector + long non-standard size) I would get a cheap replacement cable for the tf300t and a regular USB3 extension cable.
I got one here, standard size, haven't had any issues.

Thank you! Mine's just about to give up the ghost!
Had issues with the cheap ones from china. Bought a PWR+ 6 ft wall plug and it works great. I did find some official Asus cables on ebay that were super cheap and worked flawlessly. I know this is late to the party, but never hurts to update.
Here is the wall unit I bought

OTG?

Didn't see anything in a search, looking for an OTG adapter for a stock non rooted Mate2.
Friend of mines adapter works, but he forgot who he bought it from, the one I found on Amazon
doesn't work. But, I have VERIFIED my non rooted stock Mate2 will work with the OTG.
Any suggestions? They aren't that expensive, but I've prefer not to buy four or five to find
one that works.
tnx

I've found with these μUSB that sometimes the connection is at fault (the tabs get pressed in somehow so the cable doesn't slot in place). The cheaper cables do this more than others.
Never had a problem with a StarTech OTG cable. The plastic casing feels a little cheap, even on their more expensive cables (their cables have been like this lately), so if your friend roughhouses their electronics it might fall apart.
Unfortunate that a lot of these cables are on this level lately, I can't afford to order a bunch of cables to test at the moment (esp. with a bad CAD)
