[Q] A question about Family Plans Re: Evo 3D - HTC EVO 3D

Ok, so I added my mom and transformed my single line 69.99 plan into a 129.99 Family Plan on May 9. I got her one of them Sanyo Vero phones (shes 65 and just want to make/receive calls). I currently have my Evo 4G, and I am fairly interested on one of those Evo 3D phones. So I am thinking that if the Evo 3D comes out before the 8th (and thus on my 30 day- return window for my mom's phone), can I go to the store and switch the Vero for an Evo 3D, and then switch the Evo 3D's number to my phone and the old Evo to my moms phone number?
I did bought my moms phone in Radio Shack, so if this is even possible, can I go to that same Radio Shack and do this or do I have to go to the Sprint store?

Im kinda confused about what you are exactly asking but
I take it you just bought your moms phone and are now wanting to return it within the 30 days for a evo 3d then switch the numbers from your evo to ur moms vero aka that u switched for the evo 3d
Well im from kentucky and last year i was wondering something like this i bought the hero and evo from the radio shack
Your answer: yes you have 30 days to return the phone vero that u bought and you can get the evo 3d you would just have to pay the price difference if there is one
Then when you get home just call 1800 sprint customer service and tell them you wanna switch numbers because your mom likes the evo better and u like the evo 3d better and they can just swap the numbers right over
Ps sorry for so much writing

Thats EXACTLY what I wanted to know! Sounds like my way to getting an Evo 3D got way cheaper than my other option (which was to buy it full price!)

You don't even need to call Sprint to change the numbers on the phone. You can go online to Sprint.com and just do it yourself once you have the phone you want.

Whats everyone doing with their old phone?

Just like the title says. I am curious to see what everyone else is doing... I am trying to decide myself.
I was going to keep my Hero as a backup so I can cancel insurance. Well not anymore, trading it at RS for $40 and decided to keep paying insurance. I can't go back to the Hero after having dual core, too painful.
im actually going through radio shack and doing a trade in for 100$ credit applied to my 3d
Wait about 30 days or until I realize I'm keeping the Evo 3D then selling my Evo on Ebay for 200+
EVO 4g x 2 trade in at Best Buy @ $138.00 each!!!
have my EVO sold for $250...
person knows i won't sell til friday night though
Samsung moment: Turning it into a dedicated remote and keyboard for my HTPC.
Where's the poll option for "Smash it with a big hammer"?? I've been looking forward to getting rid of my Touch Pro since I first used Android 18 months ago.
selling my hero and keeping my evo.

Haha true. Didn't think about that. Hope you are not just throwing away the parts afterwards
I'll be keeping my Hero. Might flash it to metro pcs for my son or sell it on eBay or Craigslist. The $30 they would trade it in for is not worth it.
BTW: I'm refraining from getting on XDA on Friday until I get my EVO 3D.
My Evo is going to my wife, her Optimus S will be a back up phone. Insuring, both evo's.
I'm switching back to Sprint from T-Horrible and giving my Vibrant to my sister
Taking my wifes Hero and making it a WiFi Skype line for the house and giving my OG Evo to her....
I'm giving my Samsung Epic4g to my Mother, who has a Samsung Intercept, and taking her Intercept and selling it to the lowest bidder.
I will trade in my old Touch Pro 2 for $43.31 and a radar detector for $35.33 for a total of $78.64.
I will keep my evo 4g and get the evo3d for $120 after trade-ins. When the next phone better than the evo 3d comes out....I will trade in my evo 4g and evo3d for that phone.

Selling the Vibrant and hopefully finding a OG EVO on the cheap for a backup
Gonna keep my O.G. Evo for back up. That and if the bootloader is not cracked within 30 days the 3d is going back

Sold my Evo on Craigs list this weekend for $220. Had 3 people interested the day I posted the ad. I recommend anyone who has a backup phone to go to until the 24th try to sell it first before trading it in.
Back to my Vogue for a week. And to think I used to love this thing.

Anyone know how Sprint is handling buyback (recycling) of Evo 4G?

I went to the Sprint store today and asked about the buyback program and my Evo 4G. She just asked for my phone number and started typing.. then asked if i pre-ordered the Evo 3D.. i said yes. She kept typing then told me to just come in 2morrow when i pick up the Evo 3D and tell them i want to recycle my phone and i will get $150. She didnt even look at my beat up (but working) Evo 4G.
Im not sure if she put a note on my account or what but she sounded so certain that i bring it in and get my $150 credit. Anyone know for sure?
I hope i get her when i get my Evo 3D tomorrow.. im doubtfull it will be that easy and that they are giving $150 for any working Evo... if so.. winning!
Sprint will give 150 for the EVO and 115 for the EVO Shift...I know-I work for Sprint. They always offer this as well for those that did not know. Also, you can trade up to three phones to really drive that out of pocket cost down.

I am pretty sure if your EVO is not majorly damaged, i.e broken glass, and it turns on, you will get $150 dollars credit on your account for trading it in. EVO 3D for $50 with full upgrade credit.
I guess ill find out tomorrow hehe Thanks for the help.
I wasn't gonna do that...I was gonna sell my evo 4g and accessories on craigslist but I have been reconsidering it....sell the evo to sprint for the 150 and the accessories for 50.
I have an otterbox commuter, HDMI cable, spare batteries, and a stand alone battery charger.
Think all of that is worth 50 bux?
Do they care about sending in the battery? I have two Evos (one upgraded to a 3D) and it would be great to keep the battery as a spare.

Hmm. So I could get something for my Hero? I was thinking of selling it on craigslist, but I'm not sure the demand for a used Hero...
The site said $40 for the Hero.
So wait... if I get the phone thru Sprint, they will buy back my EVO 4G @ $150? Did I need to be a part of a buy-back program like Best Buy? I just pre-ordered with BB!
Nope......

This probably isn't the place for me to ask, but do you think I could get more than that on craigslist? I see Hero's there for ~$100, but who knows if they're scams/spam.

Sprint will buy back the phone.
I took my rooted evo to my local sprint store yestetday and got $150 added to my account on the spot. With my $70 loyalty credit I got my 3d for only a couple of bucks.
They let me keep my sd card and charger.
Easier for me to do instead of selling it.
Sent from my Evo 3D
Sprint will buy back the phones but not the accessories. If you turn in an EVO and a hero the 3d costs you ten bucks. If you want to try and get fifty for a hero on Craigslist you will be waiting a while.

Where I am CL is saturated with them. Over 18 were posted for sale today alone.
I know you leave some money on the table, but the Sprint deal isn't so bad, and with alot less headache and waiting. I was going to go this root but I'm not as excited about the 3D as much anymore so I'm going to keep my Evo.
I dont think you can get more than $200 on craigslist for the Evo 4G and on top of that the internet is probably flooded with people trying to sell their old Evos.. so lots of competition. A few weeks ago people were selling them on ebay/CL for $200+ easily... but now that will just get harder and harder.
I sure hope its easy for me to get my $150.. my phone is beat up and rooted.. but as i said it works and the woman made it seem like id surely/easily get the full $150 credited to my account tomorrow.
I would of traded it on the spot if she asked offered.. but she told me to do it when i pick up my 3D. I hope the quote doesnt go down tomorrow... it shouldnt since every other retailer is offering $150 for the Evo 4g.
fyi..
google sprint buy back.. it will take you to the official buy back program. sell your phone for 150 + any other phone you have. I just did. works just fine.
sold my evo and my old iphone 3g.. i kept my sd card .. just ship the phone itself.

Go to the Sprint buy back website and lock in the $150 price, it's good for 45 days...
You can either mail it in, or go to the store and trade it in for instant credit.

{How Too}-How Too Get The EVO 3D For Free

First call Sprint Costumer Service extend your plan out for two years they will give you $70 off current bill this does not affect your upgrade then head on over to the sprint store trade in your EVO 4G for the $150 BAM you just got the EVO

Or you can sell your EVO on Craigslist for 250-325. That would also work and save you a credit
Can s-off come out and play? You run but you can't hide
Or you can try to win one
http://now.sprint.com/bea3dstar/?ECID=vanity:bea3Dstar
And while you're there, tell them if you are a AAA member or you are a member of a credit union. If so, that's 10% off your monthly bill.
Have a friend still using an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4? Tell them to dump it and go with Sprint. They'll get about $135 for their old iPhone 3GS (more for the iPhone 4) and $125 for porting their old AT&T number over to Sprint so Sprint will actually pay THEM to own an Evo 3D.
They've also been giving Sprint Premier Silver members the full upgrade price even though you've only had your Evo 4G for a year. Sprint is running so many great deals right now, most people should be able to get an Evo 3D for just about free if not better.

You have to be AT LEAST 16 months into your contract to get the $70.00 dollar credit when you extend your contract, or you wont get it..
If I just upgraded to the evo in December will this work? I called earlier and I'm not eligible for a full upgrade until Dec 2012

This. I think I got like $240 shipped for mine on Craigslist.
Selling off my 3 Epics, so I got mine for free. BAHAHA. Trading in a phone is just a rip off program. You think it's a good deal, but you just don't know any better.
I don't know why Sprint is giving me such a hard time. I'm one year into my contract and have tried and tried. They want me to pay the full retail price. IMO it's not worth the retail price esp when I have an EVO. It's not worth all the hassle. I don't know what else to do. Hell I will sign a 3 year contract if they would cut me a little slack. I hope someone from Sprint sees this and contacts me.

Phone claim is giving me a 3d instead of a 4g

I am so excited for 100 bucks I basically get to upgrade to this dual core beast! You should see the pictures of my evo it still functions I will take some pics and show everyone how destroyed my PC36100 is

nice, thats how I got my 3D, I was pretty shocked when it said they were shipping me a 3D... I actually got one that was brand new in the box, instead of one that was Refurbished by Asurion like they ususally do... felt good getting to upgrade for only $100 and not having to extend my contract was a plus for sure... you'll love your 3D... ive had mine for almost 4 months. and Its a killer phone.
That's how I upgraded my phones for years. I went from the Mogul to the Touch Pro to the Touch Pro 2. Maybe I'll get an opportunity this year on whatever the next big thing is.
Yeah that's how I got mines too since Sprint wouldn't fix my charging port on my OG Evo, but oh well enjoying my 3D, & mine was brand new also with 1.30 hboot

Whats funny is if you head over to the evo4g forum youll see people NOT happy about this change and the fact its happening b/c the 4G got put on their EOL list so no more of them being made.
thought it was funny people over there were talking about going and getting another one just incase b/c they didn't want a 3D. lol loony
That's how I got my 3d too. I'm happy with it. I missed my og evo for a few days but after using the 3evo for awhile Im glad I got upgraded.
We're comin from a pure power source.
Aw, that sucks. We just made a claim on my wife's 4g on friday and they sent us a 4g. It would make my life substantially easier if I only had to support one type of phone instead of two.
they sent me an eve 4g on my replacement but the bottom led's didn't light up properly so i called and then they said they would send out another replacement and that was the 3d so if u want try to find something stupid to complain about thte replacement and it will give you another whirl at getting a 3d without paying another 100
Yea. Someone stole my White 4G at Albertsons. When I filed the claim I got the message that they had no White 4Gs in stock so they were substituting the Standard 3D. At first all I saw was "Standard" and was disappointed that I wasn't getting another White phone. Then I noticed the "3D" and decided I would suffer through...

My nephew has an old Touch Pro 2 he is saving up funds to upgrade the phone on our plan and the EVO 3D is not an option anymore. Which phone would you get at this time and why?

I would call Sprint and HTC's CEO's and put it on a 3 way and say, I WANT MY 3D PHONE NOW! NOT NEXT YEAR. NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW! lol WITH A QUAD CORE OR HIGHER PROCESS 128GB OF RAM AND ROM 256GB CLASS 100 SD CARD.

If you really want the EVO 3D, even though it's slightly outdated, I'm sure if you call the carrier, you can get it.
Just ask them for the EVO 3D when you call and tell them you know they still have them somewhere.
Other than that, if you really want to stay with Sprint, go for the newest EVO. Stay with HTC and the EVO line.
Also, I was considering to get the new One X. I think AT&T has it down in the states? I'm not from the US.
If u are upgrading get the EVO LTE. WiMAX sux balls even when your in a good area. I get 7-9 mps WiMAX and hardly ever use it. WiFi is more stable. Till LTE gets to u u can use WiFi on it.
