Hey guys I just picked up the Flyer since they lifted the street date. Whenever im web browsing on the device after like 3 minutes it just goes back to the home screen. I did get the invisashield on it. So i was just seeing if anyone else was running into this issue. Thanks guys
I had that happen once, but it was immediately after returning to a browser from performing another task.

I gave up on the default browser and loaded up DHD... missed my tabbed browsing.

Not that it has happened to me, but I would power off the flyer and restart it, and see what happens, that is if you have not already tried that.

Ill give dhd a try and yeah i restarted a couple times and it was doing it ALL NIGHT. Threw it on the charger and now its working fine. Must have just been some kind of snafu(sp?) Thanks for all the help tho guys thats why I love this forum .

Hello everyone, how are you?
I'm new to this Board and pretty much new to Android too. I got myself a shiny new HTC Hero about 1 Month ago and this Phone is perfectly what i'm looking for. I love it to the Bits, but have one huge Problem, which i wasn't able to solve yet:
My Phone, even now after the Update is extremely lagging and behaving weird. First i noticed after some Time using it, that my Hero started to change Screens from itself, always running to the Screen on the far right Side. Now it becomes worse every day. Its most notable when i'm going out of the Standby Mode. It takes about 5 Seconds until it reacts to any Inputs. It takes like another 5 Seconds until it works in kinda normal Speed. And since 2 Days or so, i constantly see the Error "TouchFLO" not reacting. Force it to close or wait.. This appears more constant everyday now and made the Hero really difficult to use.
I have been on Symbian a long long Time and i'm very satisfied that i finally took the Jump to Android, but this annoys the Hell out of me.
So if anyone has a Hint on how to solve this Problem, i would greatly appreciate it!

I had this problem and found it was something like dust stuck under the trackball making it move. I pushed and spun the trackball a few times and that seemed to solve it for me.
i dont think the Trackball is the Problem. It seems more like a software issue, as those TouchFLO Software Issues keep appearing and appearing and make the Phone more and more not usable

MichelSF, I too faced the same problem from time to time. I am not sure of what you mean when you say that the TouchFLO software keeps on appearing from time to time. In my case the screens would move over to the right automagically and all I used to do was move the trackball a bit and it would stop. I can still see that occasionally but it is fixed when i move the trackball. I would therefore concur with nicelad_uk that the trackball gets stuck and that causes this behaviour.
BTW, you said something about the update, what did you update it to? I updated mine to the modaco 2.2 rom and its been all fine ever since. I do occasionally see a stutter on certain menus but am happy with it. If it helps you any bit, you could install the android sdk and use the 'adb logcat -v time' command to view the debug messages that the phone churns out. You would also need to install htcsync and so on and that would indicate what the phone's doing while being unresponsive.

i get an error pop-up that TouchFLO is not reacting.I can then either wait or force it to close. If i force it to close, the whole Start Screen is rebooting, but not the Phone. So i can access the Menu and Notification Bar, but it takes a bit until the Start Screen appears again - i hope you Guys get what i mean by that! A good Friend said this could be a Memory Leak, or being caused by Widgets that doesnt work well. I have now disabled most of the Widgets i have (Music Player, Mails, Messages, Weather), now just using the Clock and a Contact Bar. Strangely, the Phone works really well now again ..
...Man, this is confusing and annoying!

phew .. to be honest, i dont know really to what exactly we updated it. My Buddy updated it to the latest Version.. i'm such a newb on android, sorry
You need to ask your buddy if he wiped before he updated the ROM.

I'm kind of new here, and this is my first thread. I bought an ASUS Tranformer Prime and I love this thing. First thing I did as soon as I got it was update to ICS, so I have no reference if it was working prior to that, but I started getting random reboots yesterday (my first day of use).
BUT the only difference is that I got my first reboot when I installed Dophin Browser HD from the Market. I went on installing all the apps I wanted and was on the Prime all day yesterday, and the reboots started becoming more frequent last night. I think I got a total of 6-7 reboots all day yesterday, until I uninstalled Dolphin Browser last night. Ever since I have used the Prime with no reboots.
Hopefully today will be the same and no more reboots. I will keep you guys posted. It doesn't hurt to try this.
you have a lot to learn young padawan if you look at the 500 page thread on this issue you will see that it does not have anything to do with what software is installed primes brand new out of box upgraded to ics have had the lockup issue its a matter of time before yours locks up and reboots again it can be VERY random

problem happens on boot up and before OS loads too. has nothing to do with apps
yup, thats what happened to my wifes. On occassions the prime rebooted a few time while on the boot screen. And aftermarket live wallpapers made the main screen lag.
Sorry guys I thought maybe it would help some people out, but I haven't gotten a reboot ever since I removed that app. My problem and reboots are definitely not at startup, just in the middle of messing around on the net or the market. But it was rebooting every hour almost. Thanks for letting me know and I will keep watching for random reboots.

It's entirely possible that some people have been experiencing reboots because of Dolphin, but have automatically lumped themselves in with people experiencing the deeper problem of rebooting regardless of installed apps.
So, OP, thanks for mentioning this. It might very well help someone out.

No software would cause the prime to entirely reboot simply the application itself would crash and force close.

not entirely true. when my Epic 4g Touch freezes, if i keep tapping the screen or press the buttons, ill get a reboot. its almost like ive overloaded the cpu or ram? im not sure whats happening. but if i do nothing, it catches up and is fine. it rarely happens, but when it does, its when im reading/writing to storage (internal OR external SD). and i also know too that the prime has had less than desirable storage read/write performance. maybe hes downloading something or its caching a web page to memory? im not sure, but i do know it happens...
I just was talking with a friend of mine who had also gotten a prime over Christmas time. He said that in the beginning, he used to get reboots all the time... but it slowly stopped and finally doesn't reboot any more.
Mine typically reboots while media is playing or while I'm using the market. Sometimes it reboots while just navigating home screens..it's just so erratic. There's no way to predict it at all.

Defiantly erratic for me
Ive had reboots, in many different apps, sometimes a lock up then reboots, or just an instant reboot.
Yet sometimes I can be absolutely using it intensively for long periods, playing multiple games one after each other, browsing with multiple tabs... etc no reboot for hours.
Then i can just be scrolling through a simple menu and bam i get a reboot....

Not if there is a memory leak or something in the OS that is exploited by a certain app (obv not on purpose but exacerbated by the app) causing the OS to fail.
Got like 3 Reboots so far since .21 ... all 3 while playing video... 2x TED Talk app, and MX Player yesterday... both times after switching out of the a playing video and switching back to the app... the app can't resume the playback... hangs and reboots...
no other situations so far.

Same here, I get typically get two reboots a day like clockwork and they come while playing video. I will see the video play in some sort of loop while the audio is just fine and then it will freeze and reboot. Or if I'm able to exit out of the app then will freeze and reboot. Not really a big deal yet, as ICS loads pretty fast. Outside of that and weak wifi this is a great tablet.
I just got my first reboot couple days ago. It was while I was watching video on YouTube. My video started sluttering and artifacting....thought it was the uploaded video then tried to reloaded it-it did the same thing-sluttering and artifacting and it rebooted itself. It almost looks like driver issue to me. I hope it is fixed in the future updates.

I believe the Ted reboot problem is with the app itself, and you're not the first to experience it.
For the last two days my phone has been anything off at random... nothing has been changed... I'm on the cm9 nightly from the two days ago... this is the thing tho... If I gentely tap the phone it will shut off or shake it... so I figured maybe after time the batter is lose... but it also is turning off if it sits completely still...unless its playing music. It has not turned off since Round 8 ad I have just had it playing music this full time ...any ideas??
I already did a full wipe and re install and when I get home I'm going to Oden back to stock and redo everything.

My only suggestion at this point is odin back to stock 2.1.
Unfortunately this sounds like symptoms of hardware failure. I had a phone (cliq) which would do the exact thing as you described...the phone would vibrate shut off and reboot unexpectedly. I would open the physical keyboard and it would also shut off...this is totally hardware related from my understanding. But that is the worst case scenario.
Hopefully it is a software related issue in your case. Not much else i can say.

Overclocked? Voltages changed at all from default? If you have anything set in voltage control or setcpu, get rid of them and try it. You could also try booting into recovery and see if you can reproduce the problem. That should also help determine if it is software or hardware related.
If the phone is plugged in it does not seem to reboot. i have not had time to mess with it i will check it out this weekend. Weird because it only seems to be doing this at work? I have not had it restart on me at all while at home.
Also if i have the music playing it will not turn off. This weekend im going to oden back to stock and see how it goes. otherwise gonna try to deal with it long enough till the gs3 comes out, ha.

thanks for the response. and I found my problem already too, I had a bad power ribbon inside the phone that was torn.
I was in the bathroom yesterday and my Evo 4g LTE started buzzing a lot. I had no idea what was going on, and the phone was just flashing screens. It was going between my homescreen, and a long-press on the home button(that shows all the screens together). At this point, I figured it was a hardware problem, and I still think it is. The problem is, my phone is unlocked, and it's running CM10 on it. I have no idea what I should do. It always has it's case on(otterbox), and I also have only dropped it a few times in the last month, from only about 2 feet high max. The last time I dropped it was a few nights ago. Once again, it just randomly started doing this. I tried flashing CM10 again, and it didn't help, it still acts like i'm pressing the home button non-stop, even in TWRP. I really need ALL the help I can get. I cannot afford to get a new phone.
Did you flash the stock rom, that would probably let you know if it a custom rom causing the problem? If it still does it, you might need to take it in to get looked at.
Take the case off and see what happens.

Yeah, make sure it's a corporate store that does repairs, don't go to some third party store, they normally aren't any help.

Okay, sorry it took me so long to reply. The phone might go a day and do the homescreen thing, but the next day it might work. It hasn't done it since about 2 pm yesterday and now it started up again. I also noticed that when I press on the right side of the screen, it makes a clicking noise. Can I get it repaired even though it's s-off, unlocked bootloader, and has a custom rom on it?
anyone else getting this? every once in a while i'll try to go to another page on my home screen and it will just stick for about 10 seconds at a time. this seems to continue for a while, but a restart seems to fix it.

Are you rooted or stock?
If rooted what recovery/ROM are you using?
Your phone could simply have issues (faulty hardware/software) because it shouldn't lag even if you're on stock. You might be leaning towards getting a replacement pending on how long you've had it.
And do try to post in the correct section next time (Q&A).
I have the same issue occassionally.
It isn't enough to be a problem but, every so often it acts a little weird.
Sometimes it just feels like it's not registering things then it pops up a few seconds later. Case in point the app drawer won't move then it starts moving later. I'm on a debloated rom and I'm personally thinking it's a software issue. I would guess some process is getting hung up or something.
I don't see anything like this.
Between excellent LTE coverage in DFW area and the internals, I do not wait for anything... EVER

I experience this occasionally too, I hope it's just software, other than that a simple restart does the trick, I notice it only happens in the home screen, when you open an app its fine

ive identified at least one cause of it.
i use widgetsoid as my power control, and whenever i use the torch function on it, it causes the lag on my phone. every other feature seems to have no performance effect.
can anyone else confirm this?
