Thinking of switching to Samsung galaxy ace. Any thoughts? - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hi, I've been using Lg O1 for 4 months. And I think I want to switch to other phone my target is the galaxy ace. I'm pretty disappointed about the touch bug by Lg. Do you think Lg will fix this on the upcoming official gingerbread ROM?
If its not, I'm switching to the galaxy ace by the end if July(probably).
What do you think?

I think Samsung is a bad option no matter which model you get from them. If you want to change, go with LG, HTC or some other. Samsung is horrible.

If you want an upgrade then make a real upgrade, not from 600mhz to 800 and an aparently slightly better-balanced device; being another budget smartphone I'm sure it has its problems. Go buy something like an Optimus Black or Desire S or something more powerful than your actual device.
Don't upgrade from a budget device to another budget device.

Galaxy ace? HTC wildfire s seems good. 600Mhz Processor with 512MB of RAM and runs Gingerbread. 5MP cam with 24 fps recording. This is the best option if you are going for a budget phone. Spend some more get i9003.

+1 unless you're getting a flat out trade for it.
I would even go for the new wildfire s and xperia minis rather than any samsung midrange phone(as they tend to forget their midranges after releasing).
BTW, how come SGA forum is in the legacy device section?????

As others have said above, not worth it.
As for the lag, two lagfix kernels here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11193044&postcount=1 (and there are many more of those if you search the forum).

Ungaze is right, support for cheap samsung phones is sooo crappy. A friend has a galaxy 5 and he's stuck on 2.1. 2 weeks ago kies announced a sw update but it can't be downloaded because of server errors.

What will you do with these, if it doesn't have 512 MB ram. Samsung has been following the practice of throttling down their non flagship phones to 256 MB ram. So that after selling, they want the consumer to look for higher versions.
If this phone has 512 MB ram + flash you can go for it. In india o1 is $225, ace is $300, i9003 is $400 and sgs is $490.
You just need to check whether it has 512 MB ram or not.
If it has it's not a bad choice.

I think you should go for arm v7 processor phone. None of the phone above has arm v7 or higher processor. I say no to arm v6 ( arm 11 is v6).

Well, i've done this change. Went from LG to Samsung.
I have an Ace for a month know.
My two cents:
- Samsung looks much better in terms of construction (I allready opened my O1)
- Samsung is way faster with the gingerbread ROM
- Love the gorilla glasss display and the style of the phone
- I don't have RAM problems. Galaxy S doesn't have much more than Ace and is galaxy S.
- In terms of battery are similar
Cheers

P500 inferior to X10Mini???

Hi i have P500 and i flashed Mik_os 6.5.7 with android 2.3.5 and i am pretty happy with it. Also i kave installed Adobe Flash Player 10.2 and it runs pretty good.
But my friend got resently SE x10 mini with stock 2.3.3 android kernel 2.6.32.9 with Flash player 11.1 and it runs damn pretty smooth on 600Mhz!
I noticed that his phone works much smoother in all the work, even Angry birds never lag on his phone while mine lags pretty much on bigger levels even overclocked to 825Mhz performance mode!
But aside that, i am very concerned when it comes to flash. I watch alot of Anime online and on my phone it lags a lot on 70% of videos while his can play all of them without lag! Is it because of flash version? Also, his internet surfing is much faster..i think.
I know that my phone is in top performance cuz i scored 1302 points on quadrant standard which is pretty high.
So, why is his phone so much faster, and it has same procesor on 600Mhz like mine?
Maybe it's the hardware problem, and also x10mini has a very small screen so I guess it wouldn't use so much power like LG optimus one.
New x10 mini has a 1 Ghz processor

[Q] Gaming on Galaxy Ace

Hello people I'm here to ask what do you think of the gaming experience on the Galaxy Ace. Is it ok for a medium budget android phone ? And how does it compare to the galaxy Gio?
-Thanks
You're getting the wrong phone
Ace-ing all tests.
Well honestly stock it SUCKS! But with mods like
- Skeleton ROM
- Slaidyboost
- Chainfire 3d
- Overclocking
You could play some games, but still not perfectly.
I'd say the Gio is just as good, it just has a smaller screen. - But will give you the same experience.
you mean i should not buy it ?
Ace is maybe a low budet android phone but runs games that was made in his time. My recomendation some other phone if you wana play new 3D games.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA
depends on game engine... games like Tank Hero Laser Wars run on my ace great!
but, you cannot have an medium budget gamer phone, it doesn`t exist... but ace is one of the best in this range, obviusly modified, like in my config
so, my config: 245-864MHz SmartassV2 - CM7.2 by vo-1 (15/03/12) - ChainFire3D
sorry for poor english :\

New 3D games = hi end phone, not Ace.
Unfortunately, due to the person designing the ace being drunk, we had crappy and outdated hardware (ARMv6, Adreno200 (Struggles with MDPI 3.5")
For a Gaming experience for a relatively low cost phone I could suggest the Galaxy S Advance (Not available in many countries) or the good old Si9000.
Angry Birds work perfectly... lol
Tried games like GTA or apps like MTG TOolbox and they work bad. :/

Hey,
I would recommend you the Lg Optimus, since it has a big display, which means you can play better, Single-core processor(1ghz), pretty good battery (1700 mah) and a large internal storage, which means you can keep apps in internal store (4GB internal storage, which of them 2.4GB usable). Moreover it has a very good camera, if you care about that (5MP, 30 fps and 1080p recording). It comes with ICS, so probably developers will upgrade it to Jelly Bean.
Hope that helped, and click Thanks button if so...

Best Android Smartphone Performance Specifications wise

Dear All;
I know that this questions was asked by everybody, and the answer is very complicated, but here I'll ask a specific question regarding the specifications.
here I'm evaluating the hardware, but not the design, weight and dimensions.
After my advanced search I found that Samsung GT-N7100 Galaxy Note II 64GB has the top level specifications that android smartphones could have up-to-date.
Regarding the following:
CPU: Samsung Exynos 4412 (1.6GHz)
RAM: 2GiB
ROM: 59.6 GiB
Display: color Super AM-OLED (5.5") (720 x 1280)
Camera: 8MP with AutoFocus & LED Flash, 1.9MP front Camera
Expansion Slots: microSD, microSDHC, TransFlash, microSDXC
Battery Capacity: 3100 mAh
Wireless-LAN: 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n
Analog+Radio:Receiver: FM radio (87.5-108MHz) with RDS
My question is, Is it really the best specifications?, Did I miss important specifications that I should take it in my consideration?

Your not missing anything but it has the same CPU as the S3 and more RAM. You're not going to notice a difference really unless your multi tasking a lot. You may want to wait for the next nexus phone though to see what it has to offer. The best hardware doesn't necessarily provide the best user experience. Also if you plan on playing Tegra games then the best hardware would probably be a phone with a Tetra 3 as some features are only available in those. Basically overall yes the Note II is the beast.
Thanks for your replies
But 1 more question, the problem I counter with all samsung ROMs that it should have main frameware and then to flash the custom rom over, but the story is completely difference with HTC, that the custom ROM is standalone ROM. Am I right?
Because, I bought my HTC Desire HD 2 yrs before & it was that days best HTC products for android, and after 2 years, it still performing good. But, it's the time form renew. really, my plan is HTC, but the note 2 specifications, try changing my mind.

I'm sorry but I'm fairly new to flashing ROMs etc. I have had no trouble doing so with the excellent tools available here. I'm insure exactly what your question is but I'm running SuperNexus ROM on my S3 and it was pretty easy to get there. You have to wipe before putting the ROM on... not just flash it over it I think. As far as I know the ROMs are standalone...
HTC are OK but I think they have too much bloat. I had original desire which I loved but I find their newest phones to be full of useless software.
I seriously doubt you will be disappointed by a Note II, but be careful the phablet form factor is far larger than the HTC Desire HD.

Decision

I want to a buy a new phone.
I have 2 ideas: (I like medium screens size)
1.Galaxy S2 ''Old but Gold''
2.Wait until S4 Mini it's released and gets cheaper like S3 Mini it's now after 1 year.
I want to know which one is better at performance/battery too
PS: Does S4 Mini have AirView ??
Better option would be sgs3 its prices have gone down drastically. Or n4. Or s2. Anything Mini is well mini.

You should go for s4 mini.It has greater performance than s2.I don't know about battery life.

I 've got my hands on the S3 and it's too big ....
Any similar options HTC,SONY ?? (phones with maximum screen size of 4,3'')
How is S2's MALI 400 compared to adreno 305 ?
