In other words we see you are mad but we really don't care but we acknowledge your issue. Now kick rocks.

The fact that they responded the same day is saying something. I really don't want to get a Samsung because of the lack of updates.

So... is there going to be a new thread every 5 minutes now ?

We must unite and destroy their credibiltiy sire ....wait what....

Let's see what they say. This doesn't just effect HTC but the Evo 4G has been their top selling handset. Granted, Nexus 4G is what we (well, lots of us) will go to but the ability to customize our devices could easily move people away from Sprint.

Not sure what updates you are referring to but the Nexus gets updates first in most cases as it's "pure Google". I guess this might be bad if you are a believer in and reliant on Sense but for the AOSP group, it's AOK because it's what we are all trying to get to anyway.
I want to stick with HTC and the Evo/Evo 3D but may have to jump ship. Look on the bright side, at least our wireless provider HAS the next best thing.

I think he was probably referring to the Galaxy S II. A lot of people see the NS4G as old tech and not worth the purchase. Accordingly, they see the SGS2 as the next best thing if the EVO3D will retain the status of the locked bootloader.

That's pretty much how I read it. They're probably going to give some generic statement about why they're doing what they're doing and not change their position one bit.

Man if they overturn this decision I will buy an EVO 3D for every member on here! Not getting my hopes up though.

the cant over turn it as the devices are already made and ready to go. if anything they could allow it to be unlocked via an OTA but that is unlikely.

no not at all as i was going to get this phone as well. i owned the evo just like most of you did. im just saying them correcting this at launch probably won't happen, if at all.
just as us nexus users know damn well if our radio issues are hardware related samsung or sprint will not issue a recall.

Makes sense... I just get antsy when I'm up for an upgrade and I sometimes forget not everyone is on the 12 month plan. Nexus, yes... Galaxy and new carrier, I never even considered it but the 3D situation surely does suck all the way around.

Sprint is geting the Galaxy S II.. It will be called the Samsung Within, and it will be the exact same as Verizon and AT&T's... No Keyboard.

I am very very very very very curious about this. They know the key so in theory they could probably easily issue an OTA or an elective RUU. I'm very very curious about the logistics of this.

I know who's phones I will continue to buy. I really hope it applies to the Evo3D.
I was so pissed and so certain that they wouldn't do anything but lip service that I nearly got a NexusS4G today....I was so amped on getting a new phone that I didn't care what it was--so long as it wasn't from HTC.
...glad I didn't do that. Preorder is still on... eff year
This is why I didn't cancel my pre-order. Imagine if people tried this against apple. Wouldn't get anywhere...

Release date and what we need to do.

Basically at this point I feel sprint has no intention of releasing the date anytime soon for the 3d release date. So what I feel we need to do is all of us need to contact sprint as much and often as possible to try and force some info out of them. I can sit here and find out release for movies and games 6 months in advance but cant get any info out of sprint other then soon. I feel we need to show sprint there is a demand for information and customers dont like being in the dark when sprint already has a good bit of our money in pocket. All we have been asking for is a date thats all we want. So I encourage u to call and email sprint as much as u can.

Meh. It'll be released when its ready. Just deal with the fact of not knowing and get over it. Knowing when its coming wont change the date you get it in your hands.

Its not really about getting my hands on it. its more about the fact that I did them a service by handing over my money for my pre order. I just want them to respect that enough to tell me what I feel is vital information. I would like to schedule my day off with the release date so I can explore my new phone. I cant do that without a date. Unfortunately I work at a place that I cannot just call in sick or use personal days without notice.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Its not going to happen man. Its really not even worth the time sitting on the phone to harass Sprint to even get the information. Yes it would be nice to have, but they will let us know more when more information is ready. They aren't going to say, HEY its coming out tomorrow, HOPE YOUR READY. They will give you ample time for you to make plans if you need. I can be almost certain of this. Be patient.
At this point I'm more excited to see these stupid threads go away than actually getting my 3D.

To be honest I believe everyone that has a source is probably telling the truth. The reason why alot of the sources come with a different date is probably because not even sprint knows yet. Any effort to try to gain knowledge of a release would be pointless and really noone would join in.

I would rather not hear a release date, and let them get the phone compleatly finished and get enough unit out to the store to keep shortages from happening, then to get a release date b4 they know if they can be fully ready or not.

The only listed item is for calendar entries that were force closing when they were being edited. Beyond that we have no information that anything else was included. The issue seems to have been enough to warrant a maintenance release apparently.

If you are who you say you are, any reason why this isn't unlocked? I mean, for real. Think about it... The devs on xda pretty much decide shoot to which phones are purchased due to the customability and let me just say, after 100's of hours of deving on the EVO, I will not be happy if the 3d isn't rooted sooner than later..

What information do you have on the (what I presume would be an) OTA that will address the crypto-signed bootloader that HTC promised to "unlock" for us?
...and if not an OTA form will it be an RUU? If not that, then what? This is a MAJOR ISSUE to all of us here...if it is not addressed to our satisfaction I don't think it is an exaggeration to say that +95% of us WILL return our phones in 30 days.
In summation, how will this issue be address by HTC and/or Sprint?

And a simple ota would solve all that. I'm sticking with my original thoughts. Seriously, how many people follow myn or virus and decide to get phone they use because of what team synergy is working on? Trust me, 2 million hits on rl5 alone for myn. Tmartin and myself watched 150k hits in a couple days when we ported the first sense 3 to the EVO.... Before kingdom... Trust me...non devs get like phones of great devs and a simple ota to unlock it is an easy fix... Not to mention keep strong loyalty for future evos... And better yet, sell a lot more once it hits xda that its rootable.

I don't know....XDA is a rather renowned entity these days, especially in this business. i wouldn't be shocked to hear they devoted one $12 an hour lacky to keep an eye on it...though, I'd also be surprised if that lacky had the meaty information we actually want.
...then why send him here?
But then again, Sprint reps I've talked to are universally less useful than most people on here (excepting, of course, Sprint employees who work here--never met one)...
..but then again, that would further illustrate how out of touch they are...
...but then again that would be a fantastic trolling angle...

I don't think they've given up either. At least HTC certainly hasn't, as for now its still the premiere flagship in their lineup. As for AT&T, they've always been agonizingly slow on updates, and have actually been doing better on the M8 than some past devices.
It also needs to be considered that AT&T/HTC included a feature that on 4.4.4 that the other versions don't have (VoLTE) so comparing the release dates is a bit apples and oranges.
Hopefully 5.0 won't be as delayed. You would think that since they now figured out the VoLTE issue, we wouldn't have a similar delay on LP. On the other hand, it would seem a bit odd to have 5.0 roll out right after 4.4.4.
Well ladies and gentlemen its official, we're the last to get the Lollipop update. Sprints M8 just got it. AT&T, theres a seat in hell for these people.
