HSPL? - HD2 Android SD Development

A friend of mine just got an HD2 with the current TMO stock WinMo 6.5 rom and radio. My question is can I just put android on the SD card without doing HSPL? They just want to try android without messing with Windows at all. Thanks!

No. In order to install Android via SD card, then you need to run HSPL, update the radio and all that jazz. However, if your friend is worried about the warranty, then all you gotta do is go to T-Mobile's website, go to the HD2 software section and download the latest Windows Mobile update file. You can save it and flash the phone back to stock at any time and you can also then run HSPL again and revert that portion back to stock.

Yes
Yes, as long as your phone has the latest radio version 2.15...
No need HSPL if u just wanna run android on SD
btw, wrong place to ask though.

HD2 ROM dump

is there any tool to dump my HD2 stock ROM?
i don't want to change my ROM since i'm really satisfied with it, i only want to flash a newer radio (2.1 or up) in order to try to run the new android ports.
but i need it dumped in order to revert everything back the way it was if (for any reason) i had to send the phone to repair

you can just hard reset the phone if all goes bad with the android builds, shouldnt though seem to be ok, just glitchy and not very smooth,
as demon said, running android has no effect on the installed rom, you dont 'flash' android, it runs kind of like an app on top of windows, it dopesnt replace anything
yea i know how the android procedure goes, but i was talking about reverting to the old radio/SPL versions...any solutions?
when you wanna revert,
flash your original radio then run hspl2 and choose your original stock spl. that's it.

As said above, all you do is download the stock ROM and flash it , after removing HSPL, you don't need to "Backup" your stock ROM, all you need to do is either download it from one of the ROM threads here or from TMO ....
so...i can downgrade the radio without problems? then run HSPL2 to revert to the original SPL...many thanks!
so what about the ROM itself; even if i find and download it, how can revert to the original date? (settings tab/about phone/software information/ROM date) or what is that date?
another noob question what is TMO?

dont forget the hspl version is excatly the same in 2 and 3, only the installer is different, AND for non tmous users to switch back and forth between hspl and stock spl, we need hspl2 anyway because hspl3 only has stock 2.08.0000 and none of our phones used that as stock.
hspl3 was only released because tmous users couldn't be trusted to not brick themselves, and telstra users couldnt use hspl2.
This is not a 'highest version is best' situation.

Just a quick question:
Is there any reason why m-deejay`s stuff wont`t work on my HD2? I have upgraded to the latest update that HTC has provided, but i can`t seem to boot any of his builds. JDMS, on the other hand, is working fine.
Anyone have an idea?

It's strange. I have test Latest Stock ROM 3.14 (without HSPL) and tested at the same way a Android build from m-deejay (Desire HD build) without problems.
The only thing I can imagine is that you didn't remove HSPL; this cause limitation of available program memory!
No, that is sadly not the case. HSPL has never been installed on my phone Guess I will try a couple more times.
spl 3.03
easy install android but when restart WM launched, i miss anything?

With the latest stock rom (3.14) you can't change your spl version!

3.14 ROM wont run properly with HSPL3, keeps running out of memory

Hi, i downloaded the stock ROM from HTC site RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship and couldnt install it as my HD2 has an O2 build (RUU_Le2_UK_1.72.206.3_Radio_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Signed_LEO_Ship)
I installed HSPL3 and then it installed but kept running out of memory and now i have downgraded my cell. I need to know if i can run android with the existing 1.72 build which doesnt have 2.08 radio. Can i flash a radio or can anyone tell me how to get 3.14 stock without any such hassles
Try a reset failing that a factory reboot should do the trick - its common to have issues after flashing the rom, most are sorted out by the above methods
Stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL sir!
Remove your HSPL and reinstall Stock ROM 3.14 (In your case (branded device) use GoldCard technique)
Can i just install radio _2.15.50.14. Will it be compatible with the stock 1.72.206.3 and will i be able to run android on it???

It depends on what are your priority's and taste sir.
Personally the only thing what interest me on Android is HTCSence.com
but this means I can only use/install a Android version from the Desire HD ore Desire Z Build. (unfortunately this is temporary without camera function.)
Well, i use an HTC HD2 International Version bought from Amazon.com, and it seem the religion is from South East Asia. I can't install normally the ROM 3.14 WWE because it isn't compatible.
But i used HSPL and the ROM was installed successfully, i have no error until now.

So, what should i do? uninstall HSPL and reinstall 3.14?
no, because my device isn't compatible with this rom (htc said that), it won't allow me to install it.
Are there any way to install this rom without error?

Ow, you can also use the GoldCard technique sir. This gives you the possibility to flash a otter stock ROM without the use of HSPL.

[Q] [Need help] Little confused about all this

I purchased an HTC HD2 about 2 months ago and I have seen these phones using the Android and I would like to have the same thing. But heres the issue. I've been reading(XDA), reading and reading and there are so many options that I dont know what the correct one would be. I would like to find a good one without bricking the phone.
So this is a fairly new HD2. Can someone assist me??
All depends on what you will sir;
But try this build, it's very nice and stable.

PS; don't forget Android needs minimum Radio 2.08.50
Ok. Now will I have to do this HSPL thing?? Would I have to change anything?? I would like to run Android but with the option of going back to WM if I need too.
My phone is stock with factory settings. Can I get a step-by-step guide??
First, i think you should flash latest official rom, with radio 2.15.50.
Then, flash Cotulla's HSPL, find the right one for your device.
(Optional) Task 29 to erase your official rom.
Download and flash custom rom!

1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6891358&postcount=1893 Cotulla's HSPL3
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5848003&postcount=19
Clean task29 <----- Follow the instructions, but do it before flashing a custom rom, because when you do task29, your phone has no OS until you flash another rom. So it'll be useless til' you flash a rom. When the bar is in approx. 96%, keep holding volume down key til' you get to the rainbow (bootloader) screen. Then, flash a custom rom.
3. My favorite custom rom of all time: Energy Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
Then, you're done
Sorry, but WTH are you on about?
If he's got a suitable radio then he doesn't need HSPL.
OP - please ignore the above advice and just jump straight to running Android off your SD card.

So what Android build would you suggest??
Sorry, but with custom roms it's better to run android, and since he said he didn't want to brick his phone, and when you talk about bricking you're talking about hspl and roms,i gave him instructions on flashing hspl and a custom rom without him bricking his leo.
Although, he is right, if the only thing you want to do is run android, you just need to download a build, put it on your sd card, run clrcad.exe and then haret. But I suggest you flash a custom rom before Android, as it will enhance your experience.
Wish you success!
Happy New Year

Btw, I suggest darkstone's ram sense Android build. It's got great battery life and great performance. Plus, if you mess with system files, you just reboot and the changes are gone.
Trust me, you'll love that build.
PS: Before,i used android with the stock 3.14 rom, it all worked fine, but when I flashed energy rom, it was even better!
Again, happy new year.

[Q] USA AT&T Titans ==> What would you try first on new Titan

I have a new Titan coming (be here Tuesday) from AT&T (warranty replacement for the caller's poor sound quality #6).
My question to my fellow US Titan's that are stuck on SPL 2.5 is:
If given another chance with a new Titan at 1.10 SPL, what would you try first to unlock it?

We all tried the DFTs / Cotulla's SPL / HSPL and got stuck at 2.5!
But what if we'd tried the debranding method first?

I wonder, what would you do?
HSPL worked on my phone after several attempts. It actually did not look like it had worked, but it did. I had almost given up.
I would try and reporduce my steps to more accurately share the sequence I used, but sadly I only have one Titan.
I would debrand it with the 2.05 Europe ROM.... And then tried HSPL.
As i see its a win - win because If i don't HSPL atlease all the AT&T crap is gone and i'll have a new radio. :highfive:
I stayed stock, pushed latest OS cabs to Tango
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736982
and use it as a developer phone (I am a dev) so I can put some stuff on it, and develop on it.
Don't really care about lack of root for this phone, waiting for WP8 which will no doubt be completely different.
Well here goes nothing!
Success!!!

Oh I debranded first. Worked like a charm. After installation of the HSPL I did have to remove the battery for a few minutes, then let it boot all the way back into the EUR 2.5 ROM before I could get back into SPL mode to load custom ROM.
This new Titan doesn't seem to have the memory capacity problem and all phone calls made so far, the person on the other end has good sound quality, however, the headphone jack doesn't work! I didn't use the headphone jack prior to custom ROM, so I'm unsure if it is a ROM thing or a phone thing. After my experiences with HTC Titans, I'm sure it's a phone thing
I'm chose the Dynamics ROM to install and I haven't really checked there if others are having problems with headphone jack yet.
I'm just glad to have custom alerts tones and full control of the device I purchased instead of being prison-ed with limited control.
