everything about it is so frikkin cool!

My son loves this game. I haven't been able to pry the NOOK out of his hands all day!

only bad thing about the game is you cannot beat it without spending about 12 dollars on upgrades

Dunno' why, but I couldn't find it when I searched "Robotek". A search for "Hexage Ltd" displayed all their games, however, including this one. I was able to download and install. I'm on CM7.

Tried that, got everything but Robotek.

Hexage's Robotek Cheats Big Time
Don't play this game. The AI cheats big time and gets all the impossibly lucky rolls. Its hack attack is uncannily accurate while yours is so weak. Total imbalance. You have to keep paying real money to win. Don't get suckered.

I have a pretty good strategy and its allowed me to beat the toughest nodes. I have not made any inapp purchases. If you look over the readme, it explains the AI and its occasional "cheating".

This game is very beatable without in-app purchases.
Just use Titanium backup and restore if you lose.
I have over 1000 charge points at level 12 because I'm batting a thousand using Titanium.

thanks luciferii, now I'm addicted
thinking of trying totemo next.

I dont know how a so repetitive game can be so addictive...
its just too fun!

I recently finished Robotek and was able to draw a good conclusion as to why it has so many bad reviews and accusations of cheating AI on the Android Market. The dev claims the AI is "damn good" in the FAQ, but it really isn't. I finished the game with about 6500 charge, no in-app purchases, and defeated the level 50 mainframe. Lost the occasional game, but can confidently say every loss was completely out of my control.
Robotek isn't rigged, which initially crossed my mind and almost made me quit as I ran low on charge. It was a fair assumption: this is far from my first or most complicated/difficult strategy game. I knew the rules and knew what to do, yet still managed strange and irritating losses. The problem was obvious: perfect rolls, which give a powerful unit/effect/attack plus an extra turn, occur far too frequently. This is the source of all the frustration that has led so many people to ***** and moan about the gameplay. As a turn-based strategy (albeit a simple one), no amount of skill can save you if the opponent continues getting free turns while you wait idly and get pummeled.
In the early game, the player has fairly low HP and a few perfect rolls on the AI's side can quickly kill you. In the late game, you can lose upwards of 200 HP from this common scenario and still recover for a comeback win. This would explain why newer players rushed to the Market to slam the game of cheating, while those who stuck it out said winning without paying was doable and not difficult.
If the dev would greatly decrease the chance percentages of perfect rolls, then the number of complaints would go down with it. I've angrily played through too many rounds where the AI got anywhere from 4 to 8 perfect rolls, while I had none. Cheating or not, this is very poor game design and it happens frequently enough to make any sane person want to quit in anger. I recall around level 15 playing one particular mainframe and losing to it with nearly all HP intact. I played it again, using the same exact strategy as before, and quickly won with full HP. Downright silly.
To be fair, I played a number of games where I was the one with "luck" on my side. It made the game no more enjoyable and really made it seem worse. I often took stock Droid and Drone up to Hero across several turns of careful strategy, making my way towards a sound victory.. only to be rewarded with a bunch of unnecessary perfect rolls that made the whole experience feel very cheap and easy.
The other main issue is the low level of control at the player's hands. I wouldn't suggest getting rid of the slot machine, since this is obviously a unique aspect of the game. I would suggest allowing a player to choose which unit attacks which. At the very least grant the player the ability to assign the attack order! Too often an Elite or Hero Droid wastes its powerful laser on a low-HP unit or shield when a stock Tankbot could've done the job. Or my units directing attacks at a harmless messed-up Tankbot while leaving a dangerous Drone alive to fight another turn.
I think all of this masks how weak the AI actually is and simply adds an unneeded layer of frustration, causing less-patient players to jump at the in-app purchases. I gave Robotek a 2-star rating when I thought the game was cheating, and left it at 2 stars when I came to realize its actual problems.

The suggestion that this game is not rigged is just utterly ridiculous, although I agree with much of the rest of the above post. It may just be that it takes some folks longer than others to see that. There is no debating whatsoever (with me, at least) that this is a classic pay-to-win setup. 'Pay-to-win' is synonymous with 'rigged-by-design'. Yes, it is possible to win a fair number of rounds without paying a dime, but especially in multiplayer mode, your ranking will never advance very far without paying, or without using a hack or cheat of some kind (like some of the folks using Titanium backup to reduce damages). If you do not pay (and no one should), the game will make sure that the odds are stacked heavily enough against you that your wins will be limited. In other words, Robotek IS rigged.
I find this entire pay-to-win model obnoxious at best, and downright creepy at worst. It also seems to me that a person has to be especially desperate, or just a pretty bad player, in order to even want to spend money to be better able to defeat one's robotic foes.
To me this whole approach is disingenuous, and I will personally never give Hexage a dime. I'm even mean enough to say that all I wish for them is bankruptcy. However, I gather it isn't just Hexage doing this. That is unfortunate, and a weakness of closed-source, for-profit apps and app stores. Such games take on the flavor of the arcade games that were mainly after a person's quarters. I read somewhere recently that this kind of thing may be the wave of the future. I certainly hope not.

[Q] Battleheart Owners

Ok, so I didn't see any other threads on "Battleheart." It's a really awesome game! i guess I'm kind of promoting it, BUT I am also really curious about hero combinations that other people are using. I've mostly been trying to level everyone up evenly, since I cannot get a good enough strategy while I'm still looking at all of their skills and leveling and blahblahblah
This is the Theme and App section... but if the "app" part is talking about CUSTOM apps... not on the market. then I'm sorry; please move this.
Otherwise, I'd like to hear from you guys!
What setups have you found effective? How far have you gotten? How many hours played? Favorite characters? Is upgrading weapons/armor worth it (since it's expensive)?
Any other games similarly as awesome?
can you explain what this game is about? is it like final fantasy tactics or some mmo

there's a link to it =)
The gameplay is basically this: drag your finger from the character (warrior or healer) you want to select TO the character (enemy or to-be-healed) you want to attack/heal, and then everyone has special abilities that get unlocked as you level.
Also, abilities are unlocked in sets of two, so you can choose which upgrade you want as you go, and none of it is set in stone. You can change the skill you want at any time. It's a really awesome concept I think; it leaves lots of room for customization. I would definitely recommend this game

thanks, the graphics look nice and it looks interesting. a few more questions
1) how much grinding is needed for this game. Like what % of the game do you grind? basically does it get tedious, and be honest
2) multiplayer? lan internet bluetooth?
3) is the UI done well, or does it get annoying at times?
Not much grinding, if you do every level once you could probably make it. I did grinding to level up different characters. Its a very smooth game. UI is really nice. No multiplayer =(. i dont know if developer is going to make it multiplayer but that would be super sweet. It would be like a mini WoW. I would recommend this game for sure.
My best set up:
Priest
Rogue
Knight
Mage
seemed to be the best damage group.
One that i am toying with:
Bard (as healer)
Monk (as tank)
Rogue
Witch
I have 60% life steal on the monk and focus all of his skills on damage.
Only down side is there is very little replayability once you beat all the levels.
Wish there was a multiplayer version.

oh i see its more along the lines of completing levels than leveling characters in an infinite running world, hope that makes sense. So how many levels, and are we talking weeks of playtime or days, with casual play with 1-2 hours a day? only asking because its a paid app.
I keeps a tally of hours played. It took me 12 hours to beat the last boss. There are 3 "worlds" and about 15 levels on each. Each level is about 6-7 mins. You can play each level as many times as you want to get more exp, money, loot.

yeah see that's awesome... I was trying to play with the monk as the tank too, since he has the attack that hits everyone, buttttt there are just too many things and I don't have enough time right now to consider all the points... the bard seems interesting too. I stopped about 3/4 of the way through the second world because I started lvl'ing others

Again, I stopped before finishing the second world to level up another "team," and I've got over 5 hours on it. I really think it's pretty fun =) and I'll actually email the developer right now about multiplayer.. I'm not too sure how it would get implemented, BUT it does seem like an awesome idea!
so after some consideration i bought the app, and its worth its money. Fun never boring and you're always doing something. Almost feels like doing a WOW raid all byyourself with all the spells and microing.
Also 45 meg download from appmarket!!! use wifi if you're not grandfathered in for the unlimited plan

WIFI is absolutely a good idea for this game lol. But yeah i agree. Mini-raids =D
I'm really glad you like it. another game you MIGHT like is Crusade of Destiny. They just released an update yesterday fixing whatever was broken for Tegra Devices, and I REALLY enjoy that game too.
didn't mean to hijack my thread at all.. just throwing out another sweet game.
Also, has anyone else tried using 3 spellcasters?? If there are major threats, I'll use the bard (idk if he counts as spellcaster lol), and then mage, priest, warrior/monk. If not any kind of huge threat for healer to die, then I'll use:
mage
priest
witch
monk
seems to be pretty effective
yeah it seems if the healer dies its game over. also you need at least 2 solid fighters or tanks such as the monk and warrior otherwise you just get overwhelmed. Have yet to decide on the 4th stable hero, as i haven't tried the dark knight and other ones

Unless I'm misunderstanding you or mistaken, the Dark Knight and the Warrior play the same roles as "Warrior," and as a previous poster had mentioned, a rogue is pretty good. They have the ability to lower the defense of a certain target, do crit damage, etc.
BUT I would strongly suggest having at LEAST one Damage caster... "Mage" I guess? they do a lot of damage
this is more like diablo, wow, dragonage?
This game rocks. I use a Priest, Knight, Barbarian, and a Monk
1 healer (The first one you got) 1 mage with life draining attack 1 mage with elemental skill and one warrior
ps.I'm on the last stage now (Most of my characters' level is 25

ALSO, does anyone use the bard as primary healer??

Kairosoft Games! Game Dev Story/ Hot Springs / Grand Prix

So I hadn't seen it here specifically, so I thought I would mention em. Kairosoft is a company that makes simulation games.
But the problem is.... Their games are terribly addicting.
The first one to hit the android market is called Game Dev Story, and it's a game that puts you right dab in the center of a game company. You have to run it, build games, win awards and even build consoles.
The second one to hit the market was Hot Springs Story, and this time you play as a manager of a Japanese Hot Spring/Hotel and it's a lot like the tycoon games where you have to build buildings and rooms, etc... This one is far more challenging but very fun.
And finally Grand Prix Story which came out just a few days ago; has you creating a Racing Team to compete in races and GPs. Possibly even more addicting than Game Dev Story.
ive heard nothing but good things about game dev, ill play it as soon as i finish the 15 games currently on my nook.

So, I just counted the number of games on my nook. I have 64 games on it!!!
That's not including emulators and most of the casual games (I mostly have them for my phone). I think I need counseling .
... and yeah, Game Dev Story is awesome! I'll have to give the others a shot.
Anyone have any info on how to unlock the surcharger or more cars with grand prix? I'm lost lol
So far, I've found most cars are earned through the Advertisers, Races, or upgrading another Car (I think I unlocked a car by doing this)... The chargers I unlocked on my first play through and didn't think much of it since I was past Y14. But I think it was through fully upgrading the Gears lineup, not sure though...
Kind of don't like Grand Prix Story after going through it 3 times... Keeping only one item that you most likely won't even be able to install right away is stupid, there's no way in knowing if the staff are going to be better or worse, you just either replace them and hope, or stick with the crapshoot mechanics or driver you have.
And finally, ending on Year 14... Why? Why not atleast year 20?
After going through it three times, my initial first play through where I knew nothing... Is my highest score, imagine that...
I think the supercharger comes from one of the advertiser (one with chimpanzee)
New car design comes from winning race and satisfied advertiser .
fastest way to grow it seems. a) after winning first round and getting 'buggy design" stick with that car. speed, acceleration, specially getting V8 engine asap.
The buggy car should win the first grand prix. after short use of proto car, just enough to win germany, where you get super car. So far this is my best, easiest car.

Guys you have to check out this walkthrough/faq! Spoilers are inevitable though >.>
has anyone found a proper walk through for this game?

Future of Tablet Gaming

So, I bit the bullet and bought a Prime, I had talked myself out of it about 9 million times, was going to buy a used one from chin-a-ling (sorry mate) but my fiancee pushed me, and pushed me and I finally bought one... I am in love.
But the title says it all, I am wondering what the future is going to be. My hope is to end up being able to play Portal on this thing one day. With the fact that Bethesda has mentioned possible tablet ports of older titles, Valve has always been one to examine all unique possibilities. It would be incredible to be Chell running through the hall way, aiming and then tapping where I want the portal
Anyways, what does everyone else think? Looking forward to seeing what the major companies might do? Games you hope to see ported or even developed as a standalone counterpart from your favorite series?

I think tablet gaming especially on iOS has a bright future. Some of iOS's best exclusives have trickled their way to Android. But there is still a lot to be desired on the Android platform as far as games go. Currently EPIC is making fantastic games for iOS through ChAIR Entertainment. Hopefully they will one day embrace Android.
Well ios has infinity blade and usually gets games a bit earlier. That's about it IMHO.
Android has amazing emulators and most importantly full gamepad support.
There are also some really nice looking tegra3 exclusives coming. Definately infinity blade lvl of graphics.
I'd say the future is bright. Me personally I'm hoping for point and click adventures getting big on tablets. They perfect for touch control.
Gaming on tablets and Prime will be SICK! Just watch. Already amazed at the types of games I'm playing already. And I don't play b.s. ones like angry birds or whatever. Lol hardcore gamer here.
I used to be a hardcore gamer before I joined the Navy but after I got out I haven't had time with school, but I am a huge Portal/Half Life Fan, as well as a few of the other artsy FPS games e.g. Mirrors Edge. I KNOW the Tegra 3 can handle it, it is a matter of whether or not the big guys will believe in the future of tablet/mobile gaming. It is a growing segment of serious gamers, and I think that tablet ownership would increase as games become more innovative/complex.

And it works like a charm. It never ceases to amaze me that the first time I played day of the tentacle I had to clear my 40MB(!) hdd before I could install it, was supplied om an enormous amount of floppy disks, took ages to install and now I can play it on a apparatus small enough to fit in my pocket (in case of my galaxy nexus)...
They need to bring the Broken sword series to Android. I have both games on Ipad n loved them. Like a touch point n click. Graphics n storyline is very good.
I installed onlive and am playing all sorts of pc games.

There's an app or method to get apps not available in your area or whatever. I forgot what it was. I would think as long as you have a decent to fast internet connection, Onlive should work fine for you. Plus its a free app so technically someone could upload the free apk for you to use. Worth a shot.

Rule the Kingdom

What you think of 'Rule the Kingdom' ?
It seems like a great idea, an rpg + sim/simcity style game.
Its free to download.
The part that I think breaks the gameplay is the huge fremium portion of the game. It takes forever to do anything unless you spend crystals, which are extremely rare unless you buy them with real money.
But without the fremium, I think the game would be great. (I refuse to spend money on fremium games)
EDIT:
Haha, just found a huge exploit in the game, so now you don't need to to buy diamonds to speed things up
The game's time is dependent on the system's time. Meaning if you go to settings and increase a day, a lot of resources you were making just finish instantly (and you get the daily chest).
There are downfalls to placing the system's time back to the real time.
What I did:
Went back to the year 2001, used the diamonds that came originally, to heal my character. Now i'm playing till i pass the game. Safely advancing the time by day. When i complete the game, i go back to today's time and wait for the new content with a loooot of resources hehehe.

I will say it right off the bat, and it goes with ANY game on ANY console; I despise freemium and pay to win. They are horrible and just scam the customer. Even when you "purchase" a game and are able to buy your way through faster and better equipment. I had a game similar to that called MyCountry and I downloaded a cheating client so I could have as much money as I wanted and actually play the game. I can't stand those. Other than that I know quite a bit of people to play that game and enjoy it, so it could be fun. Who knows.
Anyone have suggestions for similar games, pref. with no pay to win / pay to get items ?

I am a big fan of the SimCity series and EA has a full on port of in the Play Store that is very well made. Very nice touch controls. Don't know if that's your sort of game, but I thought it was worth it. And i completely agree with the A full Touch RTS would be fantastic

What games are you playing?

A couple years back, I LOVED gaming. I can't remember a day where I didn't love to game. Anymore though, most of my gaming consists of Magic cards and Chess.
So, let me know what you guys are playing, and more importantly, why. I haven't gotten around to playing these, buy a few years back these were the games I loved:
* The entire KOTOR series. Best RPG, amazing story that branches off from the main Star Wars story really well, and you get to be a freaking Jedi. For 3/4 year old me (gosh) it was a pretty great series. Admittedly, I didn't play KOTOR 2 until Thanksgiving of 2014. I played through them both during my break, and had logged over 100 hours over it... So KOTOR consumed my break that year. It's that good. The best part? KOTOR 2 runs on Linux. I don't know why no one has made the original available on Linux but Wine is always an option. KOTOR 3 is pretty much a bigger meme than Half Life 3 at this point...
* Left 4 Dead 2. When I was a kid, my mother and I used to play it. You get to slaughter zombies. Pissed that zombies keep beating you? Well guess what? You can be a freaking zombie. Enough said. Runs on Linux too. Certainly a title very close to me. More so than Half Life ever was (yes, I said that)
* ALL OF THE FALLOUT AND ELDER SCROLLS GAMES. EVER. I started with these games at a very young age... About six. I played Oblivion religiously. Over several years one of my characters had over 2k hours of gameplay alone. It's a bit different now. When I was a kid I used to fantasize that something so surreal could one day be real. I guess that imagination is part of the reason I love technology so much... Because it's a real solution to the unimaginable. I played Skyrim, loved Fallout NV, am still trying to get through Morrowind, and blew my way through Fallout 3. I love these games. I wish I had Fallout 4, but hey, there's so many of them that you can't have them all. I haven't played TES Online either.
* Trine 2. Love the mechanics, love the stupid story, love the Linux support, and I love the graphics (even if I am blind lol). 10/10, would play again.
* Stardew Valley. I've never played it, but I've seen gameplay and it reminds me of Animal Crossing. Animal Crossing holds a special place in my heart because it was the only game my family could really play without fighting lol (sad truth). I love the mechanics and from what I've seen of it, it looks brilliant. Linux support is there too. Check it out. It's sort of like Harvest Moon but better (farming simulator).
Those are a few of my favorite picks at least. I used to game but now I really don't except for over breaks like Christmas break and the summer. School is pretty dear to my heart.
So let me know what you guys are playing. If you want to add me on steam, my username is: eyecantcu
Whoops... Sorry everyone. I'm not sure this complies with forum rules. It isn't directly related to hardware
Just to get the ball rolling on this thread:
I've always played and am still playing competitive, multiplayer games. I used to play COD a lot on the PS3 (I know, basic), and did the same once I got my Xbox One. Then eventually rocket league came to the Xbox, so I started playing that a lot, and when Overwatch was released I picked that up as well.
Now I've recently switched to PC, and on it I still play Overwatch and Rocket League a lot.
Rocket League: Love the nearly infinitely high skill-ceiling. Every time I feel like I've perfected a mechanic, I find something else to work on. Really satisfactory.
Overwatch: I just love the mix of teamwork and individual skill. You don't only have to improve your aim and positioning, but learning how to work with your team has great effect on the game as well.
Besides that, having the competitive system to show me how well I'm playing really motivates me and makes it worth playing the game.
Duke Nukem: I cut my "gaming" teeth playing Duke Nukem against coworkers on a bastardized network at my office during off hours.
Command & Conquer: We then started playing Command & Conquer in a bracket type best out of three competition. The entire C & C franchise were great real time strategy games.
Warcraft: I got my daughters addicted to these games and as a family we would play against each other. What actually happened was my daughters and my wife would gang up against me and try to completely destroy me. Most of the time they did but every once and a while I would win.
Diablo: The entire series. Every game, every expansion to date. I've always loved the game and still continue to play to the date.
Fallout: Again the entire series. I also still play one of these games several time a week. I'm way behind but just recently got Fallout 4 and the scenery in the game of gorgeous, you know for a post apocalyptic world and all.
Terraria: This sandbox type game is great for when you just want some mindless exploration in a vast and varying universe.
* PUBG. Yes, it's a little cliche at this point, but a buddy and I thought it looked fun, and now I am on my uni's E-Sports team for it.
* Factorio. Lots of thinking involved, and I love thinking and optimizing things.
* Fallout/Elder Scrolls/Witcher. For when I need to get my open-world RPG itch scratched. Have dumped thousands of hours into these series.
* Minceraft. For when I am playing with a few friends that run huge servers (I do command block stuff for them).
* Borderlands. Mindless shooting. 'nuff said.
* Final Fantasy/Legend of Dragoon. The JRPG itch never goes away. A whole world awaits each time.
I have a 2TB drive dedicated to keeping all of my games downloaded, and it's nearly full. I have lots of games that I play, but those have been the main ones the last few months.

This is general... just like any other one chatting it up about anything will be allowed so long as it doesn't descend into madness.
That said I'm still largely playing Destiny 2. I have PUBG but suck horribly and have yet to finish the new Wolfenstein.
Slowly going to catch up on the backlog until FFXV and Ace Combat 7 both hit next year. Those are my must-haves for 2018.
