So, I was thinking, (and that can be dangerous!), if there is a Cyanogenmod port to the Evo 3d, there should be a 3d live wallpaper of the Cyanogen molecule rotating in the background. I think that would be the coolest tribute to one of the best developers out there.

Actually, a bootanimation would be better, and less battery consuming, great idea!
I can't wait to see what the possibilities of 3D are and what cyanogen can do with that. I never thought we would be able to get FULL hdmi mirroring or 4G on CM but somehow they managed to get it done. I can't wait to see what cyanogen will do with the EVO 3D.

it only works in landscape...the camera won't even allow you to take a picture in portrait mode. quite amazing to see in landscape though.

So many people have been saying this.
Yes, everyone (well, most people, I suppose) seems to understand the concept that 3D only works in landscape. So why not allow the user to lock horizontal orientation and, although I'm not a developer, I certainly believe that we can put heads together to get a really sick landscape UI. And if you think about it, almost any app you open can be used in landscape.

The camera allows you to take pictures in portrait mode... Just not 3D pictures. It takes 2D photos and only utilizes one camera (the top one). Same goes for video.
i just hope they can get the 3d working on Cyanogenmod if if it comes to the evo 3d. camera and everything, cause the camera on the Cyanogenmod rom for the evo 4g isn't that great

Anyone know why HTC changed their minds from the "industry standard" JPS (JPEG Stereo, as the optimus 3D uses) to MPO?
I know the LG phone supports both formats for viewing, but HTC are not responding to my questions these days about the Evo 3D so I don't know if it supports both formats or just the more limited mpo

They told me the camera will shoot in JPS format, then when phones start appearing it uses MPO, I was wondering why the move away from the industry standard so close to launch.
I also never said it didn't support JPS, I was saying I've asked them if it does but have not had a response.

The AOSP ROMs are notoriously bad about getting 'special' features like camera and GPS working like stock. I'm not sure why there is so much faith in devs doing impossible stuff with the hardware.

Untrue. People who just produce ROMs based off of Shipped HTC ROMs won't be adding any functionality in at all. Sorry to break it to you. Actual modders may infact tackle adding functionality into the phone which ROM chefs will undoubtedly put in their own ROMs.

I'm sorry i should have worded it different. I know we got people working on the 3d. It's a beast I love it. But having a 2nd 3d device out by HTC should broaden the apps released in the market and even apps by HTC. More movies, maybe even netflix support, maybe official 3d HTC widgets, Games?(gameloft has a few,and then......). If that article is correct it would be 7 inch 3d monster

Don't be sorry...the problem is that 3d is a new technology on the phone...how many apps can you develop for it for 3d only? The flyer is no different...if you strip out the 3d....the 3vo is still a formidable phone. The main developers I see will be on roms...kernels and system apps..modders will do the themes and landscape of design...there is a huge potential for this phone...the flyer...I think it is cool and nice...but until 3d becomes mainstream....most of the development will be done on the rest of the areas..be it phone or tablet...

LOL....she dev'ed for the OG EVO.....she. made up some sweet themes for the kingdom port.....she's also made a few skins for us here.....she's learnng as she goes....I think she's gonna be a good asset to us here.....prettty stoked about it all!!

I haven't had the opportunity to tinker with it yet, but can't Netflix be ran on pretty much any android device if you change the build.prop info to show the device as a samsung... Or even a HTC Evo 4G? Again, I don't have it in hand, but I would imagine that would work through ES file with temp root...?

The same 4G's netflix apk has been working on the 3vo since day 1. Now the market version offically supports the evo 3d.
It doesnt matter but.. you cant change the build prop file without perm root because you have to reboot the phone for it to take effect.

I know how you feel im using ViperRom and it's fantastic BUT I miss stock android... launcher pro and disabling sense just isn't cutting it for me...
It's been a couple days(stupid hurricane) is anybody getting really close? I kinda liked the new sense when I got the 3d, but as time goes on I keep replacing all the sense stuff anyways. The only thing sense I use and like nowadays is the notification pulldown.

That was my dilemma on the OG4G. I liked the snappiness and vanilla feel. But I couldn't see killing a feature that made the phone unique. (4G). So I always went back to sense.
I don't see me moving to an AOSP if 3D and MHL die. :/

We can, or will be able to. EMMC phones are quad booting roms! Nobody has made it work for us yet because there is no reason, yet. All the roms are pretty much the same. Some roms look this way, others that way, in the end they all have same mods to them over the same base. CM can be had faster IF cyanogen got more involved, look how fast they got CM booting on the TouchPad, maybe a bounty would speed things up around here

Okay, I just got the Evo 3D and I'm toying around with it. I like the phone and the fact that it does 3D pretty well... unfortunately 3D at full 5MP would be nice as well as a 3D perspective home screen. Is there a hack available for Full Resolution 3D pics? Is there a hack for a true 3D perspective home screen?

Camera wise yeah, but for the 3D perspective home screen, someone made a hack for that on androidcentral's forum. I clicked the link but it didn't work. It was in the the Freevo ROME thread of the Evo 3D sub-forum.

In most ROMs it is the "display" section of the settings on your phone. If you check a bunch of threads, there might be a seperate mod for that.

sense 4.0 framework differs from sense 3.6, thats simply it.
We can always just try to come up on the camera apk, lib files and just try it. Doesn't hurt.

I've done a lot of research, there is an actual hardware difference in the htc one that makes a few new functions possible, even if we DO get that working on our phone, there won't be ANY different function because we are missing that chip.

Don't know if we have the same camera apk. But 'Scenes' then 'Action Burst' is what you're looking for.

really i dont think we need the freakin 30 shot but what we really should have is the panorama piece in the sense 4.0 camera, that would be nice, the 30 shot thing is meh unless you intend to use a phone like a pro camera sumtin wrong with ya go and buy a 3K camera then lol. thats just my opinion, panorama would be a decent upgrade for our phones, and to have an actual beats app even though thats not even related <_< .

We have panorama, just tap scenes and select panorama.

I agree we dont need a freaking 30 shot just the ability to control when to start and when to stop the burstshot at will. Just sayin and why would i need a 3k cam if i got a Smartphone that is intended to fill that necesity as well as many others ne ways thats just my opinion....

I would love to have the multishot function. I have a 3 year old and its difficult to get a good picture without him moving.
