The version of the device cannot be updated!! - Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500

Hi,
I have the Samsung Galaxy Europa (GT-I5500) and I'm trying to update my phone to 2.2 (Froyo) through Kies and It says that this version of the device cannot be updated.
Current firmware version:
PDA:JJ6 / PHONE:JG3 / CSC:JJ2 (XEU)
On about phone:
2.1-update1
Baseband Version:
I5500XWJG3
Kernel Version:
2.6.29-perf
[email protected]#1
Build Number:
ERE27.XWJJ6
None of this flashing lark though as I haven't a clue how to do it and I would need very very specific step by step instructions etc and I really want the Legitimate 2.2 firmware.
Please help as I really want to update my phone to 2.2.
Any thoughts?
Cheers

Doesn't matter, my father used Odin to update my phone to 2.2.

No one is going to help you here, I was in a similar situation, you have to download the firmware 2.2(Froyo) that belongs to your Product code and flash it with Odin to get rid of that Kies error. Just look in the stickies.
Regards

odin is the best way just f**k of the kies it just gave me the same error but i used odin for updating

ya same here just let kies jump. use odin

flashing is simple, type into youtube 'i5500 2.2 tutorial' and have a look at that video, shows a step by step way to flash, and has all the files you need.

Firmware Update & Rooting

I discovered through Kies (which I only run every couple months ) that there is an update to my phone's firmware. Currently I'm using a rooted phone with the following version:
Android version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I9100XXKE7
Kernal version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF3-CL276555
Before I do the update, I'd like to make sure I can root it. Here's the info about the update from Kies:
KI4 - PDA
KI1 - Phone
KE1 (SMO) - CSC
Can someone point me to the necessary files to root the phone after the update? AND can you clearly tell me which of the various files I'll need (I'm pretty slow with this tech stuff).
Thanks in advance.

[Q] No Kies Support - How to get the right region/firmware?

Hi all,
I have bought a second hand Samsung Galaxy S 2 in China.
The Android version installed is 2.3.3; I tried to do an update via Kies but I got the infamous message that "firmware update is not supported" for my device. I understand from other posts in the forum that maybe the firmware installed is not matching with the original region of the device, in this case I should install the right firmware in order to get the support from Kies, am I right?
But my question is...how do I know the original firmware/region for my model?
The data of the device are the following:
Model Number: GT-I9100
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I9100XXKE4
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE7-CL215725 [email protected] #2 (does this mean the phone has been rooted?)
Build Number: QUENS.GINGERBREAD.XWKE7
Plus, when I connect to Kies the current firmware version detected is:
I9100XWKE7/I9100XEUKD1/I9100XXKE4/I9100XWKE7 (DBT)
Sorry for the noob question, I tried to figure out from the sticky post and used search but I am still confused...(yes, I got intimidated by the welcoming video of the forum)
Thanks

Its not posible to know without evidence guess maybe.

NO its the signature
Build Number: QUENS.GINGERBREAD.XWKE7
That reads as a custom rom by Quens ???
Plus, when I connect to Kies the current firmware version detected is:
I9100XWKE7/I9100XEUKD1/I9100XXKE4/I9100XWKE7 (DBT)
If its a i9100 and no other version pick a stock rom from the stock roms posts .
With later firmware and to match region phone is used in .

Have a look at this thread, they are all stok roms you need to download Odin and find the rom that fits with your country http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 try the 3rd post for 4.0.3 roms download the correct one and flash via Odin. After flash do a factory reset to clear out any old 2.3.3 stuff. Remember to backup your apps contacts etc first.
XWLPF appears to be the most recent one for you just confirm you are using a Samsung i9100 and not i9100g.

Really need Pro help!! ;(

Hi guys,

I dont know how to upgrade it because now there is new version 4.0.3 or more latest..
But mine version 2.3.6.. ;'(
What I know is using Odin or kies but I'm not sure what version I should use to upgrade it
Can someone teach me how to upgrade it.. plzzzz.....
I live in Malaysia
This is my version:
Model: GT-I9100
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband version: I9100XXKL1
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKL1-CL783870 [email protected] #2
Build number: GT-I9100-eng 2.3.6 GINGERBREAD XXKL1 test-keys
1) Read the Stickies.
2) Get the PC version of Checkfus & use it to download the latest ICS stock rom for your phone model/country/carrier (assuming one is available). This is firmware you'd normally get via OTA update.
3) Flash the rom package you download with Odin following instructions here.

You can upgrade to ICS 4.0.x if you want. I usually flash stock ROM via Odin, this way is faster than Kies. Why do you try it by your self? it's very interesting when you're complete.

[Q] Would like to update my Android version

Hi,
I would like to update my Android version. I am unable to do this via Kies as Kies doesn't like the firmware I am on - Kies is terrible too - took a couple of hours for Kies to accept my phone is connected to the laptop!
Details of my phone are:
PDA: I9100XWKH1
PHONE: I9100XXKG5
CSC: I9100XEUKH1
Current Android version: 2.3.4 (would like to update to the latest official version)
Model number: GT-I9100
Baseband version: I9100XXKG5
Kernel version: [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKH1
I know you can update to the latest Android version via ODIN, but I am a bit confused with this CSC etc.
Can someone please let me know which official firmware (only want the official one) I should download of the latest version and also the link to the step by step instructions to install it onto my phone.
Sorry, I know you will have been asked this question many times, but I don't want to mess it up! I am quite tech savvy so hopefully should be able to follow basic instructions once I have the right softwares/roms etc.
Thank you!
Nirav
EDIT: my phone is NOT unlocked
pick one version 4.1 from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/

Thank you for your reply. So any 4.1 will do, regardless of my "CSC" etc?
Also, I would be grateful if you could please give me the link to the instructions (so that I don't follow any old instructions by mistake).
