Make and Receive phone calls on your WiFi Flyer. - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I found an app that lets you easily make and receive phone calls thru your Google Voice Number. (assuming you have data connection)
GrooVe IP
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gvoip&feature=search_result
I tried it and it works great... even works with the Flyer in speakerphone mode.
Its $3.99 in the Market... and may be worth it for some. Especially if you want to multitask on your Flyer or are oversears.
If you dont have a Google Voice Number, they are free.

Thanks for the tip.
And how does the mic on the flyer works for calls? Do you have speak close to the device?
Do people say they hear echo if you speak with them without a headset?

Thanks. I am using this app for my Galaxy Tab

How so I could use some help setting everything up
Edit Never mind I got it set up but to help out others
1)set up Google voice
2 install app
3 On Gmail you have to install the video chat plugin for your browser. Once you do this go to google voice
4 on GV go to voice settings under the gear icon
5 set up to forward to GTalk
6 Sign on on the phone
7 THERE YOU GO.
I tested on 3g/4g and on Wifi and it works great when you have a strong internet

you have to install the browser plugin first then once its installed hit the call button in GMail and make a test call. Once this is done go to google voice and hit the gear icon and hit the calls tab, then the option for Gtalk should show up

Other SIP CLIENTS :
The only one who have :

I think so, Because:

3CX : dont interact with the contacts
LingoPHONE: Its hung-ups ..
Sorry For my English.

Hey guys need some help. I got it installed and setup and can make calls!! THAT'S GREAT! However I'm unable to receive them. They come through on my EVO 3D just fine but nuthin on the tablet?!?! Any suggestions or ideas? I followed the the posted instructions but no luck. Thanks for any help.
Edit: Nevermind...Didn't realize there were 2 places for GTalk. One on the left and one in the middle. I hadn't changed the one in the middle to forward. Thanks for this it's working like a charm. Just wish the incoming call ringer was a little louder!

But its only in US.....not available to other country

did you get it to work? with the view im trying the flyer method with the view but i dunno...
edit... this actually works just had to fiddle a bit in google voice and afterwards was not getting incoming calls to work figured maybe i should log out of gv on my computer and bammm evo view started getting the calls so make sure to log out of google voice otherwise thats where the calls will go first before actually going to the tab.......great job guys made my evo tab just friggin more awesome....
now if they would find a way to root flyer, view would be bonus....

I don't know if anyone will use this method but I use QIK to video chat on WiFi and also while tethered to my tmobile cliq2. But it could be because I have tmobile and I remember typeing in my phone number. Just a suggestion.

Make sure your on a 2.3.4 Rom not 2.3.3 or it wont work. Im using the Raw 2.3.4 on the development forum.

Installed, not tried

exactly my question. how in the world do i start video or voice calls? i do not see an option for video calls anywhere. i do see an option for voice calls but its not highlighted so i cant select it.
i know i have the video chat talk apk because i have the camcorder icon besides my name. also when i tap on my name i see the enable voice and video checked. i just cant seem to figure out how to initiate the calls.
U will see a video camera next to your contacts name when they r online and have a web cam...if they done have a camera but do have a mic you'll see a speaker...add me to test rjmata011...

2.3.4 was on the 5/03/11 nightly, and video chat works. Crashes when switching cameras, fyi. Not a big deal.
I have one contact with a video icon next to it. I read in the CM forums that people are testing this with their computers as well.
What else is new with the 2.3.4 GAPPS?

Mine and my girls mt4g are running nb61 with the new gapps. We both have the same settings on talk. But when I see her contact name on my list there's no mic nor camera besides her name, just a dot. Same thing on her side. There's no other icon besides my name on her list than just a dot.

Wipe?
So I installed the latest version of gapps and i seem to get force closes with google talk. Do I need to do a wipe when I install these? Sorry if it's a dumb question, but it hasn't been asked yet.
EDIT: So apparently I was just getting some force closes. Obviously this is still experimental, I was able to do some chats on it now both outgoing and incoming.

Yes, I tapped my name to check it. It was already checked. Also on my girls device.
Now we both can initiate video calls but we can't receive then. If I video call her, on her device it automatically just gives her a message saying that she missed my video call because she wasn't on wifi. Same thing on my side when she calls me. Even though we both have the modified talk apk that allows it to work ove cellular data it still giving us that message.
So far I've tried all methods and modified talk apks and none have worked.

Messaging APK.

You can use text plus in the market or other apps. I installed text plus yesterday and it works fine, I would just prefer it being native.
PS. You can also use an art app that well connect your phone to your tab and let you sync both.

Installed handcent. Works fine. Alittle buggy with the contact sync'n but works. Any way to get the MMS to work? I know the Jetstream is locked down to at&t which is fine but you can't edit the APN to ad the MMS settings. I'm sure it will work if we can just edit that APN. I know the tablet can be unlocked to allow this with other carriers but how do we unlock it with at&t to be able to edit the apn settings..?
What extra fees would be applied to my account if I used this?
I only have a data account. No phone.
I use Sprint for cel phone.
I don't see a need to use the messaging on my jetstream. It would be awesome to sync my texts from Sprint, but thats probably impossible coming across two networks like that.
If you are not using att sync, which only works with an att phone, you get charge a per text fee
Sent from my HTC PG09410 using XDA App
There are several Messaging options from your JetStream
Whatsapp - Installed & working on my device - allow sending to & from the device to any other mobiles (Text/ pictures / clips) - works perfect - No need to root or anything.
GO SMS Pro - works perfect on my rooted JetStream - with Notification of incoming SMS, allow me to send SMS from my JetStream to any mobile or receive SMS directly to my JetStream - I am using an ORANGE sim card after i SIM Unlocked my Jetstream.
Also after unlocking the Bootloader and root , i have the Phone icon, with the Phone dialer, allow me to dial from my Jetstream - generate a call, but no voice on both sides (this still need to be solved ) .
i installed handcent today and finally was able to create my online ATT account. I had to send a text to my device but it didn't have a native sms app to receive the text from ATT. (good job ATT).
But...handcent is just an overload for me. Could they possibly add another option for customizaton? Lol it would take me a whole day to go through the settings menu. I would prefer something plain and simple. Just my taste.

Google Talk Video Chat

Is anybody on here able to initiate a video call via Google Talk from their g2 to a desktop Talk client? Every time I try it connects for 2 seconds and terminates the connection.
What'd driving me crazy is I can accept incoming video requests and it works perfectly.

Perfect. Much thanks!
My parents have Androids, but on Verizon (Droid Bionic's). I thought it was weird, but this is the same thing I was seeing as well. Connects for a second or two, then disocnnects and says there's a problem with the network. If they contact me, it works perfectly fine.

i tried a bunch of apps on my touchpad but never found one that works as good as google voice. my touchpad and phone are both set up with google voice and it's integrated with my sprint phone number so no weird number to deal with. works great for me. only thing is once you integrate, no more going back to vvm unless you call sprint to get it set back up.

[Q] missing voicemail app

Phone: HTC EVO3D s-off running ICS/Sense to maintain appearance of being stock. At some point in the past few weeks, my voicemail app decided to vanish, possibly during a hard reset or during a drunken rampage in which I decided that all sprint bloat needed to die. Either way, I can't seem to locate a direct replacement in the play store. All I want is something to inform me of when I have new voicemails, even if it is just the standard voicemail.apk that comes with the phone. Can anyone help with this?
Have you tried Youmail? It's pretty good and it's has its own visual mail app or if you have Google voice use set it as your voice mail

I'm using youmail currently, but I'm not a fan of the stock greetings and haven't found a setting (if one exists) to personalize. I get a lot of client calls and would prefer that they hear my voice instead of a computer. Thanks for the recommendation!
I think there is a flashable zip of the Sprint voicemail app somewhere. I'm on my phone so I can't search easily. You could download a ROM with the app and get it from there.
If you have Sprint, you can get into your voicemail by dialing your own number from your cell phone. Other companies might work the same way.
