Just downoaded gameloft gangstar ,seems really good .i seem to be get lots of lag tho.
Have tried chainfire 3d best setting seems to be unroll textures reduces the lag quiet a bit.
Anyone any suggestions on how to get it to run properly or of a plugin for chainfire that might help.

Is it getting hot too much when playing games and sometimes rotate sensors stops working after playing a game like 10-15 min?
Ya gets fairly hot at top speaker ,felt it heating my leg one day in work,always make sure i kill it after playing now.
Haven't noticed the sensor will keep an eye for it tho.
Did u ever get the lag resolved or is the phone just not capable.

I couldnt find a solution also. But it looks like this case is so slim for 1 ghz cpu. Mine is getting too hot when i play qualty 3d games also and lags too much if it is hot

I'm having no lag whatsoever with any 3D game so far.
The heating is standard though.
Any chance that gingerbreak root could be the prob
Have you played gangstar 2 with no lag aswell
Havent upgraded to 2.3.3 cause of no root yet ,maybe that may fix it also

I think some of arcs have that heat problem. Because I have searched it all over internet, some says mine is ok some says it gets warm too much. We have problem with our hardware probably which suxx

Games will lag when batteries are low or it is getting too hot. A reboot will fix the problem for me most of the time

Ok so updated to 2.3.3 last night and am playing on a full batt and have absolutely no lag not sure which on solved it :-D

I downloaded Abduction! and was really surprised to see it lag and "jitter" in anything but graphics settings to the lowest. Do you experience this too? It's a south east asia legend if that might contribute to differences.

It runs smooth in my phone.
It depends on level... if you set details at maximum, when there is sun or rain on background it slows down. Check out Hyper Jump: now THIS means smooth, and it has way better graphics

No, I haven't rooted it. However, maybe I should add that I've tested it with the demo version and that I have only played like the first half of the first level.
I'll try advancing further in the game and report whether it makes a difference.

I have a MT3G rooted on Cyanogen 5.0.8. and I get lag too. I tried the lowest settings but it doesn't change anything. This app i just weird on some phones I guess. I don't think my phone is that slow that it can't run a 1mb app properly.
Are you all using the full version? (as I said...there's no lag for me playing the demo....)

Tried both the full and demo but still lags. Lol, I'm just gonna convince myself its not that fun anyways..
You could try hyper jump or the free game papi jump(hasn't such nice graphics but is the same type of game.)

Hey all you Eris heads, i was wondering if anyone has tips on making Angry Birds run faster on our lil Eris'es. I love my phone and Angry Birds but the lag is bad. Im running setCPU at 710 max, 245 min priority 100. Anything i can do to increase the speed?? I really wanna kill pigs faster

All you need is 2 9v batteries, three of those metal cored garbage bag twisties, and 2 rolls of ducktape.
But if you do figure out a way, I would give props.
The lag is not eris specific, it is being reported on a lot of devices. I'm sure the revs will get it worked out.
BTW this is not a dev related post, should be moved to the apps thread.

Downgrade to v1.3.5. There are some missing graphics here and there but its much faster on the Eris than the current 1.4.2.

That's only to a degree. The lag is about the same once you get half way thru the second part of level one. At least that has been my experience.

I don't see why graphics would be the issue here. I play much more graphic intensive games that work way better then my experience with angry birds. The ads, now that I think about it, could be the culprit. Going to try the suggestion made earlier to block the ads and see if the performance is increased.

I have my ways of acquiring this app and thank god I didnt buy it. It is VERY SLOW. Im guessing it hasnt been optimized yet for dual core. I think mine was running on 5fps. I tried playing Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.....very very slow. I didnt bother trying other games since it was a major turn off.
Ill support once the bugs are sorted out.
Yeah its still slow with the current update 1.1.2. I just cant wait till i can play super scribblenauts at a decent speed then I will be fine. Currently it is playable but it slow but playable if you just want to spawn stuff.

Depends a lot on the game and rom ur on. In general, for a lag free gaming experience you will sacrifice a huge chunk of your battery.
If battery is not an issue, there's a decent collection of casual games that run pretty smooth, just don't expect iPhone4 performance.
It will run angry birds space OK (very little lag) other angry birds not so much. Won't run Zenonia 4, but runs Zenonia 3. U get the picture

I havent really been playing games on my phone but I remember that angry birds was lagging on KPH (GB) and a bit on the unofficial CM7, havent tried it yet on the official CM7. But in general the RAM on the ace is quite bad. I would suggest you to get a phone that will last in long term, that way youd probably save money as well.
offtopic: is there an official CM 7 for SG ACE ?
intopic: not a gamer but i can play most of the casual games (cut the rope and such) really smoothly even in stock rom. battery does suffer a bit

i can play it too using cm9 by maclaw
imho a 1gb is ok, minimum 512mb, also is arm6 and flash isn't supported.
Very hurting and a sad feeling to write this but Ace is gettin old with age, Get your Friend an Ace Plus or sme other phone like the SE Neo V or RAy.
Do not consider the ace, this is the best advice you can get.

Jeez ram isn't the main thing, I can play gta3 with 512 mb well but its more the gpu+cpu. Hummingbird SOC is really quite quick for a cheap price these days

whats even sadder is I only brought mine in january and the place I got it from is still selling it new. They havent replaced it with either ace plus or ace 2.
The phone isnt exactly old but more the problem smartphones are very fast paced in evolving technology so even a year old phone is considered obselete, something I didnt know when buying my ace.
Yeah. I'd say get an Xperia Ray for the same price range. Or If you're willing to go a bit higher the Xperia Arc S isn't bad either. Of course, if your friend has the money he get can the high end ones haha

ok guys I will explain lag issues and tell me if you can if you think its a lack of ram causing them.
eg. if I open gosms, usually the first time its slow to load contacts and then slow again to load sms messages, if I then exit out the app and go back in again its noticebly faster, which seems to suggest the 2nd time its cached in ram for faster loading. But then if something else happens such as a phone call it can be laggy again as if the OS has had to flush the cache due to low ram.
Sometimes I can get lag on phone calls, so the phone rings, but the ringign screen is slow to appear due to phone lag, I assume as its loading instead of been cached in ram because if I get another phone call after as long as I havent used the phone for other stuff it doesnt lag the call screen (this lag can be excessive like 5+ seconds at times).
My free ram is usually around 70-80meg mark. When I have in the past enabled ram tweaks it would end up force closing apps I am using which isnt good so I have had to disable them again.
Anyone's S3 bit laggy? Especially when it comes to unlocking the screen? look at the water effects
No problems with lag here at all. Phone is butter smooth, try a fresh restart.

Tried. Sometimes when i unlock, u can see the lag as the water effects are not smooth. and when u swipe across screen for different page, u can see that its not really smooth.
check how many things are runing in back ground........
then just swipe them of and then check again
did it improove?

Not sure.. but it wont happen all the time.. just once in a while? dont know why or its normal
