What do you mean by shutdown screen? The TV style animation or actually turning the phone off?
If it's the TV of thing when you press the power button, it isn't happening on anything that isn't a 2.3 rom.

For anyone else interested, this changes the boot animation to show "Android" in silver letters. It's not the Nexus S boot animation as shown here

its not just a custom boot ani, if you look in the /media/video/shutdown folder you will find the shutdown animation images. Not sure why the phone doesnt handle shutdown animations the same way it handles boot animations but its there. Now of course it would only work on roms that support the shutdown animation.

question about lock screen animation

anyone know where that screen lock animation where it looks like it has the effect of a tv shutting down???? i saw it on youtube once
edit: it's the gingerbread lock screen animation
is it possible to get that animation for the vibrant?
its built in to the 2.3 gingerbread kernel....so you need to run a ROM with the 2.3 kernel to get that effect.

oooh.....and what kernel is it on for 2.3? i might try it, but i am waiting for a stable gingerbread rom with a working gps before going back
Hi guys!
You don't need any special kernel I think.
If your phone is rooted, just install the app named "Screen Off and Lock" from the market.
It will allow you to choose different animations and... there is the one with the TV effect!
Enjoy!

Not kidding! And it works perfectly for me on Galaxy Ace, but i guess it works on every Androiid device!

I use it too...it doesn't look as sweet as gb, but it'll hold me over till a stable gb rom is released. Also, you can program screen off and lock to work when you long press search
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Looks like you have to click the special screen off and lock icon to turn off the screen. If you let it time out on its own or click the power on/off button, it just turns off the regular way.
Yea, the CRT animation is pretty sick. Comes with most JVB themes too.

Boot animation /boot logo changing.

How to make a boot animation/boot image? Like replace the LG logo, and the Rom animation. A point to a guide or tut would be appreciated. Thank you
Sent from my VM670 using XDA App
To change the lg stuff is going to be pretty tough i link. Thats not part of the rom and might have to be done with like cdma tools or something.
But changing the goot animation is easy, just download the animation you want (make sure the resolution on its not to big) and paste it in the system/media folder on your phone with root explorer or something.
here is a link to the guide cyanogenmod wiki points to.
good luck with your project!

p.s. a forum search here will lead you to a lot more info on boot animations and some samples.

Even easier to place it to /data/local without any root required.
I wonder about this too. The bootanimation.zip is just that, the boot animation and doesn't even require root access to change. however, the manufacturer animation that comes before it I would like to change. I am running CM7 and would like to change the static red LG logo for the 'electron beam' animated one used in virtually every other rom, including the stock firmware. Wonder if anyone could just make a flashable zip to do this. I'm looking at wiki article and while I feel confident I could do it, it looks like a brick waiting to happen!
Thanks guys I got a new boot another and just replaced the obedience. Data /local and it plays just fine:3
Sent from my VM670 using XDA App
the ROM animation is easy you can either get a existing animation zip and rename and replace the bootanimation.zip with root explorer depending on where it is stored in your ROM if you want to make your own the animation is not a video it is a series of png files so you can make one yourself im not sure about the order just take a existing bootanimation.zip and unzip it and take a look

[MOD/TOOL] PushBoot for the Evo 3D. V1.0 (8/1/11)

Well, with the Evo 3D comes root, and with root comes S-Off, and with that comes custom roms and themes. So here is pushboot for the Evo 3d.
What it does: easily changes your boot animation and powerdown animation through windows.
Remember to start you need:
-HTC Drivers installed
-A working bootanimation.zip and/or power down animation
-Your phone plugged in to the usb port (lol)
-Only ONE .zip in each folder (clearly labeled.)
Other than that, I included everything needed to make this work.
Any issues let me know and I can try to help you out!
And leave feedback and if you like this, press the thanks button on this post =D
As things change, I will update the best I can.
8/1/11 updateV1.0 released
added option to send to /data/local
added option to send to /system/media
added some other small changes inside the .bat
Nice job. Will be trying it soon
All out of thanks today, as soon as I get some back you will be getting a nice cool crisp one!

Doesnt matter what its called with pushboot. you can put it in the folder and call the zip makeitfail.zip and it will work.
Pushboot changed the zip's name to what it needs to be.
Not all bootanimations are put together right, and that will result in a black screen.
Thank you for this...... it will be a time saver.

I did this because I like to have it open when flashing roms. Really easy to send to recovery, and as soon as the new rom is flashed change your boot animation right away. I originally made it for myself to make things go faster =P

[Q] [Request]Need black splash & bootanimation for Aria

I need a splash like green HTC on black and a bootanimation like HTC quietly brilliant on black.
I found 480*800 like the attach,but not found 320*480
Just resize the images with something like paint.net

Do you want the bootanimation to be the HTC Quietly Brilliant image with no moving animation? If so, I can do it pretty quickly and PM it to you. Or do you want it to be an an image with moving animation? If this is the case, do you already have the bootanimation and simply need it resized? PM me the bootanimation.zip if this is the case and I can resize it for you and make it flashable.

Download the resized bootanimation here. You can download the resized splash image here.
Follow the instructions on this page to see how to install the bootanimation on your phone. I did not make it a flashable zip because I am learning how to use SignApk as we speak.
Follow the instructions on this page to see how to install the splash image. Personally, I used the fastboot method, but you have to make sure the fastboot.exe is in the platform-tools directory of your SDK for it to work.
Awesome! I was just about to post a request for these two things, then I saw this. Thanks guys!

Black HTC splash screen.
Make sure to change this image to a 24bit BMP. I just use paint that comes with windows.
Android Flasher makes changing them a snap.
Can someone make a LIBEIMG.zip with the splash in it? I don't have a computer that can do that so my phone IS my computer. Could someone please make a zip for me?

Here ya go. Hardest part about the whole process was finding a program that would properly save the image in the .rgb565 format. Gimp seemed to flip and slide the image to the right when it was all said and done.
place the LIBEIMG in the root of your sd.... reboot into bootloader.... press volume up once loaded.... after update is complete hit power button .... profits better than expected

If you're looking into a rom anyway i know a lot of them have this feature (im on viper and i know it does). I hear it can cause some flicker in your capacitive buttons but im not sure if thats just on vipers implementation or if its the file responsible for the animation. NOne the less i barely ever see flickers and when i do i have to actively be looking for them and even still its not a full on/off but more like a sag in brightness.
