Question for devs, especially slade87
In slade's latest gintonic 2.5.0 he includes a special patch called "libril for 2.1.1.C.0.0 radio OTA"
Being pretty noobish at the under the hood stuff of this, I was just wondering, what is this and what does it do?

its the library for your GSM/HDSPA access which also communicates with your hardware of your phone.
in short its the lib that allows you to use the phone with your gsm provider.

Just curious: why this library is not provided as part of the ROM itself? I mean, if this is the library for GSM/HDSPA access, I guess it should always be inside the ROM, otherwise we would have no signal connection. Right?
...and, is this a "standard" library? I mean: can I use it even with another ROM?

oh i can answer this one partly i think
according to what slade said on the gintonic thread, apparently the library is different between phones that had 2.1.1.A.0.0 and 2.1.1.C.0.0 Stock roms. Sony seems to have released the right one after detecting which one u need automatically.
However the one that is for slade's operator (presumably) is the same one as for 2.1.1.A.0.0 stock rom.. so all gintonic versions have had that one by default. that's y some people had error trying to search networks.. however that's y he released an alternate one for ppl who had the networks needing 2.1.1.C.0.0 libril.
Slade...Am I right??

Sorry guys thread is closed due to Oodie beating me to it. I created this thread to try and port the latest MIUI and I failed. I wanted to give the latest update of MIUI to eeryone, but i can see now in Oodies thread, he has already fully working 2.1.13

& about wifi issue,
Have you tried fxp kernel , since you are basing this on FXP 52 ? Try using fxp kernel & relevent wifi modules ( system/lib/modules ) & all wifi related files in etc folder , wpa_supplicant in bin folder .
@kumayam - yes I have tried it, this is how I found the bugs your welcome I hope to fix wifi asap
@Oodie - Thanks mate, Im going to look at this now. I have tried FreeKernel4054_Cob05 and flashed modules, but still no luck I will try and replace any wifi related files as you mentioned and I will test it, hope I can get it working
EDIT: Just flashed a new version, going to test and release if WiFi is fixed
EDIT 2: I have tried replacing all WiFi files and I still cant get it to work once I find a solution, I will start fixing the smaller bugs I hope someone can help me with this issue.

Hi mate, I will upload screens once I get WiFi working this is my main concern for now sorry. There are no visual modifications to this MIUI version yet so screens from current rom will not be a WOW unless ofcourse you havent seen miui before

thanks for letting me know mate, its an easy fix and will be available in the next update which is estimated 9hrs from now with wifi and other fixes also, only have remote access to my pc atm and still trying to fix wifi, but it should be available within 12hrs
Good starter rom, just Bluetooth and wifi issues are present. Thanks for the effort, I'm sure your next release will be near perfect.

I'm very glad to see another person starting cooking/developing ROM's. I'll wait for ur next release as I'm on limited network plan :/ so I can't live without the wifi and I will give it a go then.

Basicly, MIUI is based on CM so you should try to take these files from CM:
- system/etc/apns-conf.xml (if it has)
- system/etc/wifi/
- system/lib/modules/ {ar6000.ko, athwlan.bin.z77, data.patch.hw2_0.bin, wifi.ko} or easily, take all then paste into MIUI in the same folder BUT don't replace not related wifi files.
- system/lib/libwpa_client.so
Try it lol, I just develop stock based, not CM and MIUI so maybe I'm wrong

Thanks silveraero, i have tried this, still not happening :s Im getting help from Spaarc and I think i know the problem now. Once I understand this, Updates on MIUI should be easy

i am using oodie prime 7 edit. i have a2sd installed. But when i install apps, after a reboot the apps disappear. however under data/apps there is everything there.

During Christmas holidays I have some time to develop and so I thought to begin this new project. I need of course the help of other developers.
In particular I have a problem. Hardware modules like gralloc, memalloc, hwcomposer, etc don't compile, so I have copied these libs from my old 4.1.2 rom. I don't know why.

No, but what steps did you follow to compile it?
I followed the steps from Here page 13 from nickholtus replacing the branch to cm-10.1.
Cheers seems that GSM doesn't work at all in contrary to what the OP states.
Just tell me if you need logcats.
GSM does work, at least for me. Are you sure that in your ROM were present libgralloc.so, libmemalloc.so hwcexternal.so hwcomposer.msm7x30.so and all other .msm7x30.so under system/lib/hw?

Well seems that you are right, I don't have all of those files, weird, I must have deleted them before compiling then.
wifi and bluetooth are easy.
just some ramdisk changes, and probaply missing files

yes, you are right. I didn't try yet. My first problem is to understand why some modules don't compile. Maybe something is changed between 4.1.2 and 4.2.1...

Maybe you guys can use LuPus' PAC ROM sources when he releases the next version. He said that it was possible and also told us that other than Bluetooth not working, everything SHOULD be fine.

since we are not likely to get any new camera libs for our devices, I think it's time to start writing an opensource camera wrapper for JB 4.1+ roms.

IF you want to use ION we need our own camera library not just a wrapper. We need to rewrite everything kernel, drivers, ... (or we write a PMEM to ION wrapper but this is crazy )

Forget about camera libs from other devices. If Sony doesn't release libs for every single 2011 device, we are not able to properly fix camera/use ION. So please, stop the off-topic.
Regarding the wrapper, I started working on implementing sony's image & video stabilization.

@mikeioannina hey mike What do you think if we take the x10 cam sources as base, because this is just a communication interface between the liboemcamera and the source uses the same libs and calls like our camera librarys?
I know this isn't a good idea or the cleanest method and must not work but maybe we have a base how we should write our own drivers

Good idea but I don't know how compatible will the source be, because x10 was using gingerbread libs and we use ics libs, plus the camera sensor is different. If you want you can try it, I don't have much free time these days to start this project.

I started developing yesterday and I think I'm doing good progress. Camera says nomore that we have no connection, linking is now successfull with liboemcamera and libmmipl.

@iriijo sorry to disturbe you from your development but I found that Sony does have released libs of GB camera of 2011 devices
