I was wondering if anyone has a CRT effect for switching the screen off but without a battery mod?
I know there's plenty mods which contain the CRT effect but they usually include other mods as well. I like the original simple battery symbol, never been a fan of the circle or percentage mods
I'm running VillainRom1.1 and i know VillainTweaks has the CRT effect but it also installs a circle battery with percentage.
i am also interested in this.....any help....
I'm guessing due to the lack of response that it is not possible. I thought it would be easy for someone with development experience to just be able to remove the battery mod and leave the CRT effect.
Suppose i'll just have to put up with a cheap tacky battery mod!

Give people a chance to read your post. A more laidback approach might even motivate people to provide you with a solution.
The battery mod is just the battery icons replaced. If you download a CRT + Batt mod, just edit it yourself and replace the 'modded' battery icons for the original. Its quite easy
Or better yet run it through the kitchen and pick what you desire

I've been trying to port the Super Circle Battery with % and I got as far as getting it show on the hero (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7429745&postcount=11). But when the battery depletes, the meter is stuck on 100 until the actual battery percentage is below 90 then it shows 80 on the meter.
I know that the original battery goes in increments of 20, but seeing as Fightspit got it working on Desire in increments of one, I was wondering if the same is doable for our beloved Hero?
[EDIT] AFAIK this works for CM-based ROM's, or at least there's a workaround through Spare Parts that allow one to add a text overlay to the battery with percentage going in increments of one. I'm not sure that they're related, seeing as the same pictures going in steps of 20 are still in the background. [END OF EDIT]

I have VanillaEclair and there are spare parts setting on integrated spare part to show exact battery precentage on battery icon.
I did little googling and I believe that CM and CM based ROM's often does have this possibility to tweak user interface on integrated spare parts.
It's working great, however I don't know if it's possible on sense.

Yeah, I forgot about mentioning I meant for Sense-based ROM's. Seeing as it has been done on Hero before, I hope that it'd be possible to achieve on a ROM that's not Vanilla/CM.

I am new to Android, so please dont crucify me here... I come from a windows phone, and very much like the taskbar battery indicator. Small bar indicator that spans the entire width of the screen. I am just curious if there is anything similar for droid, ultimately on the nook?
I have been looking through the forum, but haven't come up with anything yet.

You can change the battery icon by editing framework.apk but youd be better off using something like metamorph.. altho i havent been able to get it to work for me...

Until someone releases a 1% battery mod, there's not much of a need for this. The nook only supports 25% battery increments.

What? My nook shows every percent go by. I use SimiClock now, but other clocks have worked the same. 1-100%, every percent.
And to the OP, it is possible to do what you are talking about on many android devices, but I have yet to see/hear about it working on the nook.

You are correct about an app being able to read at 1% increments. The task bar, however, does not. It reads at 25% increments. Basically, it would depend on how someone implemented the mod.

Also check out "Gauge Battery Widget" in the Market...besides a cool-looking widget, it also can put a colored battery icon in the taskbar with 1-100% readings.

search on market for "Circular Battery Indicator"
Hi Razr-Users,
I stumbled upon a review, which said that the Razr measures the battery life in 10%-steps. Even with apps, that replace the battery icon, it will still show the steps in 10%. The fact, that I read this just one time in a review, makes me wonder if this is true.
Can somebody confirm this for the Razr XT910?
I read that review too, but they are wrong.
I use Circle Battery Widget, and it shows perfectly in 1 % increments.
Actually, I'm very positively surprised by the battery performance.
There is a long thread in the Atrix subforum where a guy called shoux found a way how to modify services.jar and framework-res.apk in order to have the stock battery icon displaying 1% increments as well. I already sent him a note and asked him if he could do the same changes to the Razr's files if I would send them to him. Maybe he can help us out.

Do you have the battery cirgle application? You don' have to do anything, it places the icon automaticaly
I'm not sure that they would change measuring algorithm just on Razor, cuz it depends on the Android system mostly and on the battery controller in the phone. Definitely in 1%.

battery circle doesnt show 100%, is that correcT? it only shows max 99% for the razr even with battery wipe stats.
It showed 100% for me. I just waited a little longer when the stock icon already reached 100%.

Thanks a lot, I already thought that this is more like the Razr. Even though most of the reviews mention poor battery performance, I'm still waiting for some posts about the reallife performance.

Its weird. A few apps that I have used on multiple other android devices are reporting the battery level only in 10% increments. The circle battery app does show the correct percentage but why do these other apps not show the correct percentage? Whats different about the Razr from every other phone?
The two apps i'm referring to that show 10% increments are:
SiMi Clock Widget
BatteryLife
Can someone else try these and tell me if they have an answer to why they arn't working correctly. I would like to use the SiMi Clock Widget if we can figure out why the battery is only showing at 10% increments.
Here you can find a good explanation why this is.

I have installed the BatteryLife app on multiple devices with stock roms on them and the battery increment has always been at 1% intervals. The Razr is the first phone (or tablet) I have seen that does it by 10%. So again why is the Razr different?
My XT910, running Stock 4.0.4. rom is also displaying battery levels in 10% increments. Anyone find out more about this?

I have been running cm7 for a couple of weeks now and my battery has been stable and pretty good life. However last night I put a new epic blue theme on and this morning after a full night of charging after 1hr and 11 minutes and I am down to 81%? Looks great but does it pull more juice? Thanks in advance!

I suppose its possible, I have definitely noticed that some themes produce more lag than others so I don't think your idea is too outlandish...

I did not think it would matter I never noticed it before. However this theme looks awesome but curious if all this extra color and extras could cause more batery drain? I just turned down the brightness I am sure that did not help being on brightest setting.
In theory, I would say its possible. If a theme has more complex images then I would say it could take a little more effort for the phone to render them. But I wouldn't think it would make that big of a difference.
No, not on our device anyway. SuperAMOLED screens I think get better battery life on a dark theme, but not 100% on that. No matter what, the same amount of light is used on a color choice for our device. The "lag" users are getting is possible due to a conflict with image size or an image missing; not 100% on that either, but 99% sure that the answer to your question is no. UOT or Theme Chooser CM7?

Theme Chooser on cm7. And I did have to accept that it does not fit my screen and use anyways. It probably is not the theme it might have been a coincidence that it happen after the theme. Thanks for the clarification pretty much like I thought but it was weird to have a unusual battery drop right after I changed themes. Thanks again.

I have been using cm7 and it does AMAZING with the battery. I can actually last a day. What kills my bat life is leaving the data on, I think there is an error somewhere with the data controller with this port. If I turn data off with screen off,I can probably go 5 days (but little to no usage). But if I turn data on and leave screen off,I might last 10 hours

I know we can use widgets or change the status bar one with UOT, but it seems ludicrous to imagine such a simple feature hasn't become standard. Is there some patent troll that is keeping devices from having the battery percentage in the system bar? I see no other legitimate reason.

That is a really good question actually. You have me wondering the same thing now. I know on my girlfriend's iPhone 4s she can set her battery display to show a percentage. I wonder if Apple has a patent on that for smart phones ...ridiculous if they do.

I was testing a custom rom, which had a lot of users complaining and incessantly whining about "battery drain"...
But I never felt any such drain...
We were actually surprised that, users had their battery percentages "drain" from 100 to 60 in 4 hours (they used batt %), after which they charged their phone...
I, on the other hand, didn't take notice of the battery step (present in the stock icon)...
I used to charge my phone after 10 hours with around 10% batt left...
I then asked another fellow user to use stock batt icon, rather than the % icon...
And miraculously, his battery drain was minimized...(by just changing a damned icon)...same confirmed with a few others...
So we could conclude that, the battery drain was happening due to the % icon, and used to vanish/minimize when using the stock icon...
Hence, it was attributed to a placebo effect...
You thought that battery was draining because the numbers between 1 - 100 are going down...while the stock icon ignores battery movement lesser than 10%...
It isn't anything other than your mind telling you that battery is going down...
I do not know the "official" reason why it never made it to stock android...
But if you are willing, just try it out...
Without changing your daily usage and apps, spend a few days with the stock icon, and then a few days with the % icon...
The result, still might be really subjective, but well, this is what I could find...

Yap... some months ago eard something quiet similar to this state...
a guy postet that he installed an battery widget from the play store
after a while he had big problems because his battery was gettin empty very fast
so one other guy told him to look under settings in the battery context menu wich were his biggest battery drainers
and who could have imagined this on top was the battery widget
after he unsinstalled the widget his problems were vanished
so guys
accept that u have a battery without percentage but a battery drain in a size where u cant watch the amount of battery power percentage falling from one second to the other
so please accept it
No, I never used a batt widget...
There was option to have either % icon, or the stock one, baked into the rom itself...
So there wasn't any battery drain related to rogue apps...

im only using cm9 my phone does not have any stock ics rom
nevertheless...if ure battery drain starts incresing after u changed to percentag view u know why

I've always displayed percentage and I get about 12-16 hours of battery life depending on how I use my phone that day
