[Q] Banding on black background in stock lockscreen - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The title says it. I made a completely black picture on my PC, and use it as the background for the stock lockscreen. Despite this, there's a brownish horzontal banding across the bottom of the screen that fades upwards across a third of the screen, when it should be black! I thought this was a screen deficiency at first, but then i saw that this banding isn't there when i display black images in the gallery or anywhere else except for the lock screen.
Build GINGERBREAD.XWKE1 stock ROM, rooted, Kernel XWKE2.
1. Does everyone else have this?
2. Does it go away with an alternative lockscreen?
3. Are there usually this many bugs on new Android-devices, as there evidently are on the SGS2?

[Q] Black pictures turn out brown on screenlock. Please help!

Come on, people, I can't be the only one who has this issue? I can't seem to find any means of getting a completely black background on the stock screenlock! Every black pic turns out brown in the bottom and fades to black upwards. It's really evident when you are unlocking it and you see the edge of the screenlock on a black homescreen wallpaper, you clearly see the difference. Please, how can I fix this? How do themers set the lockscreen wp? Cause it works if I flash a black theme and have not selected a different wallpaper before...

Strange artefact

Hi!
This is my first post at xda, so first i'd like say welcome to all community .
Ok, lets back to the topic. So, few weeks ago I noticed a strange artefact (or something like that, I don't know how to really name it) on screen, it usually appears when I pull down status bar, especially on app with white background, its looks similar to this (screenshot in attachments) but its only white and black, it appears on bottom part of the screen, like a straight line, coming from left to right, I can't get a screenshot of this coz it appears only for a second, then dissapear. Firstly it appeared when I was using a dirt unicorns ROM, then I switched to SlimBean ROM with the Temasek kernel, but it also appeared on stock kernel. Should I ignore it, or it is damaged screen or GPU and is there any chance to fix it?
Oh, and sorry for bad English .
Thats a screen setup or testing picture probably an app or the display settings .

Spots on screen when looking at something black

I've been using my phone in a dark room without lights for some evenings, and I noticed, that when a total black image is givin, like the YouTube app loading a video some weird darker/lighter spots are visible, this is also visible when displaying a black image.
I'll try to make a picture as soon as possible, but does anybody know what it could be? Its like someone pressed the screen really hard, but nobody ever did.
The spots are not visible at any other image, only on black image.

I have similar problem with my Xperia Z. When the screen gets completely black on max brightness I see a small dark gray spot...
So I can say it's screen issue due much hard presses on the screen
TapaTalked from my Xperia™ Z (C660²) running Dirty Unicorns ROM!
Same here its most probably due to some bigger push you didnt notice or overheating or even it could be manufacturer line issue unfortunately :/

[Q] Lock Screen not taking advantage of super amoled

Hey guys, I got my phone last Saturday and have been playing around with it ever since.
I noticed that I had the night clock bug (whole screen is lit up) and as far as I know it's already a confirmed software bug. What I also noticed though was that my lock screen is also lit up. I'm using a pure black wallpaper which works well when the phone is unlocked (appears pure black) but the black is lit up when the lock screen is shown. It's almost like there's backlight bleeding. In the home screen and lock screen preview though it shows that it should be pure black
Here are screenshots of the "bug". I'm actually thinking it's a software bug since it was captured by the screenshot. http://imgur.com/a/p5maP (Take note the the blacks on the first image is different from the other 3)
Was wondering if this bug is related to the night clock bug or a defect with my unit.
If anyone is willing to help, kindly try changing your wallpaper to a solid black color and check if the blacks on the home screen and lock screen is different.
Thanks! (I have 4 days left until I won't be abe to replace my unit so I'm trying to make sure everything's good)

They're referring to the Night Clock alone. I have that problem as well as a lockscreen problem. Haven't seen anyone reporting if they have the lock screen problem so I'm trying to figure out if it's a software glitch or a bug with my unit.
Basically the lock screen preview when applying a new wallpaper shows that the lock screen should have super amoled blacks but when I lock the phone the black is lit up.

If there's any consolation I experienced this very problem. Were you using fingerprint to unlock? I hadn't seen it because I had swipe to unlock.
I still haven't figured out how to fix it.

That's normal. This happens because the lock screen puts a slight filter on your wallpaper. It de-saturates the image. You can try with a solid red color, it might be easier to see.

Not, really. This only happens when you have Fingerprints/Pattern set up as your Screen lock type.
If you set it to Swipe, with the water droplet effect, there's no "filter."
Someone found kind of a solution to this, but it didn't work for me: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...t-rid-dark-filter-lock-screen-wallpapers.html

Yeah it's clearly a bug, but OP thought it might be a defect of his phone. I was just reassuring OP that the problem exists in my phone as well. Thanks for that link. I did try the solution they proposed but it didn't work for me either...
Solution not working...plz another fix?
I have the same bug on my Galaxy J5 (super amoled), I use pin to unlock it. It is pretty annoying. I use the same black picture for both lock screen and background pic, and after unlocking the phone, black backlight turns off. Swipe to unlock solves the problem, but I have to take one of the disadvantages : either backlight or not locked phone.
Download "klwp live wallpaper maker" from playstore and make a all black wallpaper . Save it go to settings ---> background/wallpaper, set KLWP as lockscreen and wallpaper/background.
Not solved? are u using xposed? if so, download Bright Lockscreen and see if this helps.

[Help] Letv x500 Screen issue

Hey, I'm having a weird screen issue and wasn't sure where else to post. After I installed a custom rom, whenever my screen has a particular blue on the screen (for example the Facebook messenger blue) lines flicker on the blue. The lines are mostly verticle but some faint horizontal ones are visible too. I hadn't noticed this on the older rom. Any ideas what might cause it?
