Problems after uninstalling some default apps - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi. After rooting I uninstalled default sms applications app. Now I notice delivery reports on Handcent (message received by persons I send it to notifications) don't work. Yes my network supports it and it is set properly. Did I mess it up by uninstaling default app? The weird thing is also that I still get incoming message notification of default app in status bar.
Is uninstaling default app that caused this? I also removed timescape and some sns stuff. How do I fix it, can I just get default sms app somewhere??
Also I have some problems with Market. It keeps saying download starting but I'd doesnt download. What should I do?
I also tryed to download conversations.apk from one of the posts here. I tryed to open the apk with And Explorer but it said something like there was a problem with package. I tryed some other packages that previously worked but now they don't.
What did I do wrong?
The things I can rmeber uninstalling:
-default sms app
-timescape
-media player
-gtalk an gtalk service provider
-facebook
-peglle, goldrush
HEEEEELP please!

just reflash your phone..go here or here gud luck

Have you tried to copy the conversations.apk using Root Explorer to the /system/app folder and set the permissions similar to what the other applications have: rw-r--r-- ? You then have to reboot your phone.
The same with gtalk and gtalk service provider.

Untill you manage to get the stock messaging back you can do this (I have checked this by removing the stock messaging on my phone and sensing an sms from handcent to another turned off phone and got the delivery report when that phone was turned on; until then, the sms status was pending):
For delivery reports in Handcent, don't use the handcent menu - delivery rpt.
Instead go to the handcent menu - settings - notification settings - sent notifications - check "notify when message is received (needs carrier support)".
Then go to Receive message settings - check "Delivery reports" and uncheck Handcent delivery report.
If you notice the time stamps on the delivery reports are not correct because you are in a different time zone, the use the "set delivery report offset" to add or remove hours
___________
Settings in Handcent; Settings in default messaging (if you still have it installed); Delivery report

Here are some system applications from my stock 2.1 backup. Unzip the zip on your sd card and copy the apks you might have deleted to your /system/app folder. Don't forget to set proper permissions for the copied apks.

I wish I had looked at this post before nagging my friend to let me use his computer to run SEUS.
Now I don't know if this would work. The second setting Uncheck Handcent Delivery Reports I had wrong. Now I don't know If I CAN delete default SMS app Beccause this time it was the last time my friend let me use his computer, I know he will kill me if I ask again. SIGH...
Thanks anyway, you are of much help.
I guess default sms would not bother me so much if it LOOKED better. I'm reading about themes but I can't understand half the things.

Don't worry, after running SEUS you are now sure you have everything.
Make a backup with xrecovery of your phone now before you start uninstalling again. And make a new one after you have added all your user applications and removed what you don't want.
This way you will always have two perfect working backups of you phone and you shouldn't normally need to borrow a computer. They are also important to have if you ever decide to move to custom roms.
If your sd card is big enough, I suggest you also now make a copy of your full /system folder and /data/apps folder - because sometimes it is easier to just copy that one original file back.

Just to report that Handcent delivery reports work even if efault sms app delted if set properly DUH

can we have lists of safelist for x10mini pro please.. thanks!

[Q] SMS notification problem (without root)

I would like to share my problem with you, I own a P-500 I bought last week and much prefer to use go sms pro instead of the stock rom application, because it's just ugly. The reason that I don't want to root it is for the guaranty I don't want to lose.
The problem is that even I read my sms with Go sms pro, the notification of unread messages still appears on the lock screen. Does someone have any solution? I tried with many of launchers, the results is the same.
1st of all, rooting does not void your guaranty, only if they find out that the phone was rooted. If you root, Install original lg fw through LG update tool when you want to send your phone to guaranty & you should be fine.
I wrote already a post about notifications. You have to disable notifications in default messaging app before you install a 3rd party msg app. I have not tried it with go sms, I had the same problem with it. But that was when I disabled notifications in default msg app afteri installed go sms. Now i'm using handcent sms, disabled notifications in default msg app before i installed handcent sms. Everything is fine & nothing's duplicated. I hope this helps.
first of all thanks for the reply, I tried to make like you said but it didn't change at all notifications on lock screen continue to appear... do you know if root can make something for that?

Did you uninstall go sms before turning off norifications in default sms app? If not, try that. Uninstall Go sms, reactivate notifications in default sms app.. do a reboot, deactivate notifications in default sms app & install go sms again. Do a reboot. If that does not help, try the same with Handcent sms. I like it a lot better than go sms btw hm rooting shouldnt change anything, rooting just gives you full access to the phone, thats all.

For many people, android 2.3 solves the problem with duplicate notifications on the lockscreen. But that does not solve the problem with duplicate notifications in the notification bar.. atleast not for me, I have tried android 2.2, 2.2.1, 2.2.2 & 2.3.3, custom & original roms. Now i'm on 2.2 Void.echo rom & have no problems with notifications.
I have the same problem. Of course notifications on lock screen under big clock isn't same that notifications on status bar. I use 2.2 root stock rom. My solve this problem - uninstall stock sms app - go sms are fully functional without stock app, even mms - but notifications about sms on lock screen disappear.
Handcent sms don't have this issue.
I wrote to go sms devs, but no respond.
Yeah I uninstalled and do all the stuff... before trying with Handcent, and it works but just with Handcent and no Go sms pro. That surely means that the problem comes from go sms, so for the moment I'll use Handcent waiting for the dev find a real way to solve the problem.
Thank to you two!

The only way to fix this is by installing a fresh stock ROM again (obviously thru SE Update service) Thats how i fixed this problem on my phone. And a tip do not remove system apps before you know it is 100% safe to remove just google ''x10 mini safe apps to remove list'' before you do anything stupid with your phone

GO Contacts EX (missed calls? deafult phone number?)

Hello all!
I've installed Go Contacts EX on my Galaxy Ace and I came across these 2 issues:
1. I cannot clear missed calls log, even when I start the app and enter Missed calls section. "Clearing" it from Notification bar doesn't work either, because the number just increases +1 every time I miss a call... I have to use Phone (stock app) for this??
2. Also, using Contacts (stock app) I've setup default call numbers for contacts which have more than one number under them. Apparently, GO Contacts is aware of this [there's a star next to the default number]. However, it keeps asking me which number I want to use whenever I want to make a call or send a text message! It's really annoying! With the old stock app, all I had to do was slide my finger right or left respectively.
Has anyone else experienced this? Can it be fixed? Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Zeka

which ROM are u using ?
and go contacts ex probably cannot clear the call log. this is an android limitation for 3rd party apps to be able to clear missed calls.
(i use exDialer and have same issue, but there is a solution for exDialer - i use an app called NotiGo which requires root, this app helps exdDialer to clear calls.)
btw, if u miss the swipe to call feature from Samsung Roms, try exDialer - it has this feature.
Hello Amrith,
I'm using the stock (Vodafone) Samsung ROM. Haven't tinkered with device much, just rooted it and upgraded OS to version 2.3.5. That's it.
Seems like a poor decision to make log clearing proprietary to stock apps. Doesn't leave much room for creativity there.
It's not the swype feature that I miss, it's the effortless use of default phone number. It seems my (second) regular phone can't be beat when it comes to quick dialing & replies...
Thanks for your reply nonetheless.
Igor
Use titanium backup to make go contacts ex a system app. it will now clear missed call notifications.
I've try the method using Titanium Backup
it takes forever to finish...
then i reboot my phone and the apps had already gone...
it had been deleted...
If you want to make go contacts Ex a system app, follow this process. Titanium backup doesnt work sometimes.
Download root explorer or file manager app from market. After downloading, open root explorer or file manager. Go to sd card or data/app and copy go contacts ex's apk and paste it in system/app and set permissions to
RW-
R--
R--
Reboot and enjoy.

yes, maybe some kind of code you can send to your operator/advertisement-sender which can stop the automatic messages, i know that kind of msgs sucks just find a way in google, i know different users experience that alot
You can download "SMS Popup" from the market. However you will need to manually configure it into "Privacy Mode" (or something similar). Once done, you will get a popup everytime you get a message, along with 3 options to "Open Message", "Delete" (without opening) or "Go to inbox".
I had the SMS POpup on my stock ROM but don't need it now on MIUI...
Thanks.
Are you sure it doesn't open the sms?
The android market page for this app reads:
NOTE: SMS Popup does mark message as "read"
so as far as the mobile carrier is concerned, the sms has been received & read, so it will still charge for those spam sms.
@mike,
pls refer to my previous post - the app opens the SMS by default - but once you go to settings and enable privacy mode, it won't read the msg. A message is not marked as 'Read' as long as it's in privacy mode and you don't specifically open it. (Even the LEDs will continue blinking till u don't open the message)
It's a free app, so u can download and check that out.
Thanks for the info
If your with vodafone phone the operator and they will ban the number from your sim

SMS popup is nice, but does it show a history of all the sms, like the stock sms app on A2.1 does?
Also, to avoid duplicate notifications I've unchecked the "notifications" in the stock sms app, but it no longer shows incoming messages in the messages log. is this a bug, or is this related to sms popup "hijacking" the sms?
TIA

Replacing default system apps (Messaging SMS, etc)

So I purchased this phone in november of 2020, the RMX2071 CN and had issues with a lot of the CN Rom quirks. One of the biggest ones was not easily being able to change the default SMS app. The issue I was having was the default SMS app would not handle group texts well (all replies coming back from individuals) This was an incredibly annoying oversight and issue. I was unable to change the default SMS Message from within the Settings > App Management > Default App > Messages > It would only allow the system default. I was able to temporarily change it by downloading the google messages app from the play store, opening it and having it set as default.
Now the odd thing was, using the google messages app would work for a little while (minutes?) and then revert back to the default system app!
A few issues i had while using any third party messages app for SMS was that any time i sent an SMS it would prompt to verify identity on the phone.
I tried a lot of different things, but gave up after a while.
Fast forward to this week. I decided to test disabling a few of the bloatware apps using "adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 <package_to_disable>" and after disabling a ton of the heytap, coloros apps that didnt seem relevant, i tried to disable the default system SMS app, which on my phone was (package:com.android.mms) and tried to set the default sms to google messages using the method above, and after testing for 2 days, it did NOT revert back!
Now the downside is that for some odd reason, when i get a text, the notification doesnt make the sound most of the time, and it still prompts for that ID verification when sending texts, but now I can actually get group texts and send properly!
