[Q] Method to unlock Galaxy Ace by Helroz? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hi there, got my Galaxy ace today and need it unlocked. I saw that Helroz posted an app to unlock it here:
on androlib called Galaxy Ace Unlock
but its now deleted. Does anyone know if that application worked? It said it was alpha, so maybe it was pulled. Helroz also has an unlock application for Galaxy S (which works with other galaxy devices), has anyone tried this for the Ace?
Thanks

I've Found it here: http://helroz.perso.sfr.fr/app/Galaxy_Ace_Unlock.apk
Gonna test...
BE CAREFULL: It bricks devices!!!
Read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828534
There is also a supposedly safe method.
I'm still figuring out how to unbrick my phone...
Anyone could please be kind enough to send me a freshly started phone's dmesg??
"adb shell dmesg"

Just when I was going to buy a code on ebay as well, please report back with results

It 100% works!! Atleast donate half price of the code. Cheers.

Really worked? I take it you had to root the phone first?

I did it long time ago.. And yes, phone has to be rooted.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App

Dont think you can brick it, it works simple. It just copies stl5 partition with dd command and search unlock code in. You get your simlock code and Voila, you have just saved 20e So go ahead.

Don't try it. It bricks phones.
I tried it, and I did get the code. But after the first reset, the phone just went into an endless loop of poweron-poweroff-poweron-poweroff. Not even the Samsung logo showed up.
Neither recovery mode, reflash, etc etc fixed it.
Btw, Helrozz is using the same "dd" method as this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828534
You can see a lot of people with bricked phones.
They do have a new method tho, that mounts the stl5 dev into /efs, and people are reporting that it works. Have a look:

Hm, you can say it bricked your phone, my didnt get bricked. I had to try on other one just because of you, and guess what: it works.

Well I needed it locked urgently and bought a code off ebay for £10, didn't want to risk this method. Code received within 15mins worked perfectly

Will this work with any ROM ?

I use this method and brick my cell
any tuto to unbrick (i cant reboot, then I can Flash the phone again with odin)
PD:Sorry my bad english

I tried your second link
same problem here - my galaxy ace blinks now
I can enter the downloading mode - and even can flash with odin
but after the reboot still the same problem.
Any ideas how I can stop the screen blinking and start android again?

I've unlocked 2 of Ace with this app. Sorry to hear that isnt working for you guys. I've been also trying to brick my Ace (it has warranty, so I could replace it for S) but no luck. This method always helped with unbricking it:
Remove battery, memory card and sim card.
Plug phone to usb cable.
The best is to turn phone face down (I know it sound stupid, but just do it).
Put battery slightly in socket (not completely, you are gonna put it after).
With your right middle finger hold home button, with left hand hold volume down button and power button.
Hold it for 5 seconds and WHILE YOU HOLDING IT, place battery fully into socket using your right thumb.
Screen should be on now, in downloading mode.
Open Odin and flash with FW that actually works
PS
Just read again what you wrote, and didnt understand something. How did you ppl brick Ace, with app? Or with "safe" method that #rjtd suggested? Thanks

Hi fcinterbgd
I bricked it during searching the unlock code directly in the mounted /dev/block/stl5 /efs
after I found the code I umounted /efs and did a reboot.
First of all I made the system with root explorer writeable.
The funny thing is I get into the downloading mode!
That means I even can upgrade the firmware with odin
but after a reboot I still get the same problem.
While searching a conclusion I found a few hints here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781149&page=190
seems that I have to rewrite efs with odin in debug mode, but I've got no backup of my efs - not even know what this exactly is.
Well this was a short trip into the world of android but I keep searching.
Back to the provider is really the last option - but it looks like it could be the only one.
Got anybody an idea if I should concentrate on the debug mode of odin?
Thanks in advance
Klaus.
by the way
here the log of odin - I wonder if this is a complete upgrade log or not?

I had a backup, but ODIN wasn't able to flash efs backup, because that slot wasn't present in cooper.ops

***update***
I brought my Samsung ACE to the Samsung Service Center.
After a week I got it back.
They told me it was a hard piece of work but it is working now!
They did not change any hardware - but made a software update?!
By the way, the unlock code I could extract before worked very well
Now I ve got was I was looking for....

Anybody resolved it?

Well you mest up with rom manager without any knowledge about it. AFAIK Your phone is now fully brick. You need to replace your motherboard(GOOD LUCK WITH WARRANTY )
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk
If Flashing and Unbrick not working, what ever you do or how you try, then you probably messed up your boot ROM and it´s BRICKED. SORRY FOR YOU, but always, I MEAN ALWAYS read and search the forum 10 TIMES, before you start up messing your phone. It can very yeasely BRICKED.
I hope you can change it from service for free. Say that you trying restore to FACTORY setting(just make up some story[believable], why you was need to restore to FACTORY settings). Maybe they belive you and change your BRICKED phone to new one. Thumbs up for you and dont do anything stupid next time!!!
P1tt187, just out of curiosity - how did you even do that?
When I tried to use ROM Manager it told me to install the correct drivers, but Galaxy Ace isn't supported, so I just resigned. Which drivers did you use?
P1tt187 My friend had the same thing, he used a ROM Manager to back up the ROM in the ACE. Identical symptoms. Only the Samsung service will help. Tell him that you turned off phone and not turn on (Phone) . Samsung Service exchanged him motherboard in ACE (on guarantee).
Galaxy Ace not supported yet by ROM manager! Sorry for you but search the forum(or just GOOGLE it) before trying something first. There is always GOOGLE to helping(if you not found it here). Just USE it!
I have rooted and customized all my phones(HTC, SAMSUNG), JAILBREAKED AND UNLOCKED all my IPhones(3G and 4G), just waste some time, for GOOGLE! But you must be patient. Everything is not coming in first search(but everything is there, TAKE THE TIME and be sure for right thing).
CHEERS!
Hey,
I just have the same problem, but I didn't touch to the ROM or anything else
I just rooted my phone with SuperOneClick, turn it off and it never turn on again...
Since my phone is rooted, I don't know if the warranty is lost, but I think so...
I already tried to remove the battery and then put it back while holding ok + volume down + power, but it didn't work, the screen stays completely black...
I'll let my phone rest a few days and then send it to Orange while I pray --'
Any other idea guys ?
( sorry for my bad english...)

Try to reflash with original version. Read this and try:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
or try to unbrick it, here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071970
I'v tried to unbrick my phone, but it stucks on Odin at <1> setup connection..
I've let it run for 1 hour, but nothing changes
On the thread you gave me someone say that there is no solution for that...
What I don't understand is that I neither Flashed or tried to change the Rom of my phone, I only rooted it with SOC...
Anyway thanks for the help, I'll send it to Orange in a few days...

[Q] Galaxy S3 bricked ?

Hello Commiunity,

However, I have a little big problem now.
I tried 4 different custom roms all remain at boot hang. (Boot logo from Rome, not the Samsung sign at the beginning.)
Have it now with odin flashed the original firmware on it but even there it remains exactly hanging on the side.
Have now started three hours time since I'm still eingepennt no boat.
I'm really desperate on the phone because a colleague was and had only loaned: (
Now do not know exactly where but what I find here think that would ever be some info.
MODEL: GT-i9300
FCC ID: A3LGTI9300A
SSN: I9300GSMH
More because I do not also because the system does not boot.
What can I do: <
Maybe help the description why this all happened.
I chilled on facebook yesterday, the phone has started zuflackern as if not enough power longer be an issue.
Then there is ausgegangen.Als I have Angemacht has booted it as the first start time and it was the intro so I have to enter time zone, etc and if I have gmail blah this welcome stuff like that :/
But the phone went off again because it had no battery until I've tried it at home and now write here.
Into the recovery menu and I get into download mode also. Instalieren he does Rome without any problems and without visible Errors. But it always hangs at boot hang (not for the SIII characters)
However, I have tried the recovery menu dan "mount / efs" to press but then comes Error mounting efs.
Does anyone have ideas and can help me or if you need anything else just tell me what you need for info and I look after.

[Q] I can enter download mode, but Odin fails

ok, I missed up big time...
Apparently my S III -international I9300- tried to update automatically, but for some reason it failed in the middle, so it gave me the "Firmware Upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again" massage, obviously being a complete noob I trusted samsung, long story short kies didn't work for me...
Then I searched and came across Odin, which seems to work perfectly for everyone else but me, again, the universe just hates me.
I watched a video on youtube, and followed the instructions, downloaded the tar files from samsung-updates[.com]
And downloaded Odin 3.07, and got my phone into download mode, so far so good, it started the magic, only when it finished and gave me the success massage, my phone didn't restart automatically, and yes I had the "Auto Reboot" checked.
Naively, I assumed that I could restart the phone on my own, I did that and hell went loose. The screen started to show this -attachments- for whatever reason,
although I could still get into Download mode, idk why...
So then again I tried to use Odin, it won't work, it either gives me the massage "There is no PIT partition", or it gets stuck at starting connection massage.
Any ideas of whether I can recover my phone or not, please tell me that I haven't hard bricked my S III..
And one more thing, I know it might sound stupid atm, but I really extremely need the photos on my phone, so is there any way to recover them, back them up, anything, even if I had to go and unbrick my phone at samsung, can I back up the photos or anything before sending it :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

if there is a method that involves melting my S III just to get the photos on it, I'm ok with that... I kinda need the photos on the phone not the phone itself, the photos are for my work over the past 2 years and are extremely valuable...
No pit means your emmc chip, where all your data was stored, is already melted and dead. Sorry.

Can I somehow use adb from download mode, I can't access recovery mode to use the backup feature of adb, but it strikes me why I can still get into download mode...
anyone plz :crying:
The state of your device looks (really) bad, I've never encountered any such problems before.
If it helps you, we can help you get the phone back to how it was from the start (possibly) entire reset from scratch.
Most likely your files are irrecoverable (sorry about that), but the next time, this would possibly serve as a lesson as not to use your phone's internal memory to store important files... Wait you know what? probably don't use your work or important phone for tasks like these, make sure you always have a backup and other copies of your files somewhere else.
(Probably) the most we could help is with recovering your phone from zero assuming the brick isn't that bad.

[Q] Cant fix the BRICK

Hello, Today my friend gave me his I9300 to fix because it could not startup. What is happening: when I press power button I see first galaxy s3 welcome screen and then its shutdown or restarts and give again this first screen or it just froze on it. So first I flashed via odin latest CWM, then I tried to flash slimbean ROM 4.4. Try to do as written in instructions, first wipe, format, then flash, but when I try to flash phone just restarts and freeze on that first startup screen... Thats all... But intresting part is that when my friend took his phone to cutomer service to repair it, because he bought new phone like in 2013 december, they said that motherboard is bad, it just burned out because he downloaded some bad programs and that cause motherboard failure... But my friend always download his apps from playstore, so I think that is impossible to cause motherboard failure by playstore apps... And custom services not repairing it for free, they asking like almost 200USD in my country to repair it... So my friend just gave me his phone to try to fix... Any ideas?
PS when I tried flash via odin stock 4.3 I got error:
<ID:0/004> modem.bin
<ID:0/004> recovery.img
<ID:0/004> system.img
<ID:0/004> __XmitData_Write
<ID:0/004> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
And I get BIG RED "FAIL" :/
I tried once again flash via odin, now it when successfuly BUT... When phone restarts and appears android icon with filling up blue bar it just go like 1/3 and freeze, then restarts and again android icon and at 1/3 it just freeze.
I tried again flash CWM and flash slimbeans 4.4 ROM, now it just flashed good, then I reboot phone and still... It is going restarting nonstop... Does it really coud be that motherboard burned ?
Flash full stock rom with odin then boot into recovery and factory reset.
Probable that efs or other partition is corrupt.

I tried again flash stock via odin but no luck. This time when flash is passed and I get android icon with filling bar, this time it when fully and then froze and phone restarts, but now when I try to power it up after first welcome screen I get lying down android with red triangle and after some time phone shutdowns... And I cant get into stock recovery I get that android with red triangle..
When I try again flash stock via odin, sometimes I get FAIL when writing system sometimes it goes success but still cant power it on
Still trying to boot it but no luck... One time it looks almost wanted to startup because I was able to hear sound of welcome and logo starts showing but froze on very few frames of logo and then restarts....

Thank you very much for your post, I will try it ASAP
I tried 4.1.2 version but I get FAIL on odin while trying write system... I am going to try 4.3, maybe it works
I also tried 4.3 version, flashing via odin was successful but still froze on android icon with filling blue bar or make bar full then restarts phone and again shows that android icon with filling bar ... I do not know what else I can do
I read that maybe flashing 4.0.4 might help but I could not find working download link...
Flashed stock 4.0.4 but still, forever restarts, come up to android with filling bar and then restarts after some time :/ I dont know what else I can do...
up
If rescue firmware failed then emmc chip is probably toast, new motherboard required.

Help with Galaxy S3 I9300 International (unrooted)

Hello guys, been trying to fix my phone and went to several forums with no positive results. I hope someone here may help me.
Phone decided to stop booting, gets stuck at that page where in white letters it says the model and all (before the samsung logo).
Went into recovery mode: failed to mount...etc lots of errors in red.
Did wipe cache, factory reset and still no booting.
Installed Kies and tried to update firmware using download mode, Kies downloads perfectly but when installing it gets stuck at 0%. Happens with older and new version of Kies.
Decided to take a step forward and I download ODIN and a ROM from samsung website from country UNKNOWN since I don´t know which one to select (phone came from USA unlocked and I am using it in Argentina).
So, Odin detects the phone, but fails with this message:
<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/003>
<ID:0/003> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
Tried with Odin v.3.10.7 and later with v.3.185 and same error appears.
I have read that this may mean a motherboard issue? Is my phone able to be saved by me and my computer?
I really have no idea what to try next. Phone is no longer under warranty and I really don´t have the bucks to pay for a repair.
Thanks in advance to anyone who reads this and posts a reply.
Nico
Can someone help please? I really don´t know where to go from here.
I am attaching errors in recovery mode and the error Odin gives while trying to flash (I have tried several ROMs, downloaded them once again, tried with versions 3.10, 3.187 and 3.185 with the same luck). Also tried with several cables (one of them Sam original).
I´m considering re partitioning with pit file, using Nand-erase all, and everything else people have posted in here. But I know that the next step might just brick my phone if I´m just trying things out blindly.
Has anyone seen these issues before and know how to rescue my phone?
Thanks!
ps: can´t seem to find where to attach files in here...just images and it asks for a url webpage
you may see my post in this other forum (I hope no one is offended I tried there also!):

I see that you've soft bricked your phone. Try using Kies again and try to wait longer. Some people say it takes hours to complete the installation. If that dosen't work, there are some guides around the General Forum that might help you.

OK, will leave it all night with KIES.
Yes, read hundreds of threads on this matter. I´m just trying to reach out to anyone who has solved this problem. I haven´t soft-bricked it, since it was charging and suddenly it stopped booting (and mounting).
I´m thinking motherboard failure, but will keep on trying with things that make sense.
thanks Jericho.

Don't do so. It looks like a nand dead. So you might make it even worse. Just send it for a repair. Or risk if you like. Choice is yours.
Thank me if I helped you.

I never noticed that! Send the phone to Samsung. They will repair it, for a good cost
EDIT: While helping someone else, I have discovered the Sudden Death Syndrome, with similar symptoms as what you are experiencing. Not much people really know about this today. And yes it is with the motherboard
If you can still access download mode try my stuff from here https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0B4vTiHTBB629ZW5vQndpbjFnblk/edit
Use an xp operating system and the drivers with 1500 in the name for best results.
Only connect to a usb on the pc motherboard. DO NOT USE USB HUBS OR PC FRONT PORTS.
If my rom wont flash then your device is a paperweight.
Did you do a battery pull, I had a problem once , was freaking out for
hours, did a battery pull and connected straight away
