I'm new to Android and Galaxy S2. My phone was purchased in Spain from Vodafone.
I have just upgraded my ROM as per Intratech's guide (thanks by the way for the nice gude). The upgrade went good but after upgrae Kies shows the old CSC and says it can't update. Is this expected? I thought the CSC was supposed to change to the generic one.
I used ROM XWKE7 from the guide. After upgrade I get the following:
Doing *#1234#, I get:
PDA: I9100XWKE7
PHONE: I9100XXKE4
CSC: I9100XEUKD1
Doing *#272*<your IMEI>#, I get
ATL
In Kies it shows:
PDA: KE7 / PHONE: KE4 / CSC:KD1(ATL)
- Can someone please clarify?
- I'd also like to know if after this I still have to do something else to unlock the phone to use with a different provider.
- I was hoping to leave the phone as unbranded so future updates will be picked up through Kies.

Depends upon what CSC flashed their is no generic CSC .

Debranding is not unlocking .
- I was hoping to leave the phone as unbranded so future updates will be picked up through Kies.

Thanks very much for this info. At the end I did a factory reset after updating and now phone shows XEU as expected.

Hey there everyone.
First of all, thanks for taking the time to help me with my minor issue.
Recently i used Check Fus and Odin 3 v1.85 to restore my GT-i9100 to stock.
This worked appart from a minor issue i am having with Samsung Kies 2.0
In my phone, my kernel version returned to [email protected]#2 (what is was before i rooted)
The baseband version is:I9100BOKD1
But the problem is, when i connect to KIES and i look at the firmware tab, it is showing complications.
This is what it says:
This device can not be updated.
Firmware Version: PDA: KE3 PHONE: KD1 CSC: KE3(kor)
Did i do something wrong?
Kies only updates if their is a later version on the server for your product code .

this is what i entered in Check Fus:

PDA: I9100BOKE3

(Or am i because of my limited experience, seeing a problem where there is none? )

KE7 latest for that info .
Not on Kies well probably due to no longer having the firmware the phone came with and codes match nothing on Kies server .
Kies updates original firmware . Stock firmware upgrade from Kies Never happened for me and as far as i am aware its not meant to . But some say it will .

You used wrong product code. It should be GT-I9100LKATNL and that is the latest firmware for that region.

i think you have a Carphone warehouse branded handset...thats why your CSC is not XEU which as you mentioned is for unbranded UK handsets.
Maybe please change your query/subject to how to de-brand the handset...and someone knowledgeable here might help

I have exactly the same device identity having also purchased it from CPW. However, i assumed that my device was unbranded... Is this not the case?

But still I believe CPW do still have their own firmware on it.
Yes it is debranded Galaxy S II. But still, it isn't XEU (STOCK UK FIRMWARE) it is CPW (Carphone Warehouse FIRMWARE)
That is why I was asking what the latest XEU Firmware out "Officially" on kies is.
Because the latest CPW Firmware is = KF3

I have a UK generic phone (unbranded in each sense). This is what i have on phone and its the latest on KIES (as of this morning). KIES says its the latest firmware.
PDA :I9100XWKF3

I went from T-Mobile UK to stock using * THIS *.
Changes:
I downloaded Odin 1.85 instead of 1.83.
I downloaded the KE7 ROM (XWKE7 - Generic XEU) * HERE *
Completed the steps through to number 8.
Finally I rooted the phone * HERE * following the instructions and using the KE7 kernel.

Latest firmware for that product code and i would guess that KF3 is the latest general release via Kies .

I got mine on Orange and flashed the latest firmware using Odin a few days ago, mine says:
PDA: XWKE7
PHONE: XXKE4
CSC: XEUKD1
These samsung ones are so confusing compared to HTC!
Those who are reporting that they have a generic stock U.K firmware on a debranded GSII with :
PDA: XWKE7
PHONE: XXKE4
CSC: XEUKD1

I just bought the S2 White, and it's on 2.3.3.
I tried to update the software from phone, but it says, "No new updates".
I connected the phone to KIES (Windows 7 Home Premium x64),
& it says, "GT-I9100 does not support firmware upgrade."
PDA: KE7
PHONE: KE4
CSC: KD1(H3G)
Can someone help me please to update it ???
(I don't understand why KIES says that my phone does not support firmware upgrade :S)
Maybe it has been flashed an unsupported version firmware.
Anyway you can upgrade to any firmware you want throught odin.

It says it cannot be updated because your firmware is mixed for some reason, latest H3G is:-

I had a similar problem. Then updated Kies and it said that it's not possible to update my firmware!
I went to the thread with the stock firmwares. Chose the current UK 2.3.4 firmware and flashed via Odin. Totally painless and very straightforward. Then checked on my phone for software updates, non available and checked via Kies and says my firmware is up to date.
This seems to have corrected the problem.
People still use Kies?

Just looked through the guides for doing this and I can only seem to see stuff for Vodafone, 3, O2 etc. I've got an unlocked S2 that I think is running out of date software and thought I would try updating manually as Kies is telling me my phone does not support updates lol. Mine is running:

So is my software out of date and if so how can I update it please?

OK so I have found the custom ROM for my S2 but what is the point of putting the same one back on there that is already running? The question I had was 'what is the latest version and how do I install that?'
The reason for all this by the way is that I am sick of the poor battery life of the phone and have been told that the latest version of the software improves it but unfortunately Kies seems to think that my phone is not able to be upgraded!

Your versions are valid XWKF3 XEU, and it should update to:-
PDA: I9100XWKI4
PHONE: I9100XXKI1
CSC: I9100XEUKH2
If Kies says it cannot be updated your product code is probably wrong.
Hello,
Kies give me the same message "GT-I9100 does not support firmware upgrade."
and shows these versions on my S2,
PDA: KF3
PHONE: KE4
CSC: KF3(INU)
It shows the same as the latest firmware versions just below.
Does anyone know when these above versions were released ?

I always use Odin to flash firmwares, but on one occasion I used Kies
but that takes too long
Won't be doing that again in a rush!

Maybe you have to change the CSC code by typing *#272*Device IMEI#
but be attention it will do factory reset

Please dial *#1234# and post the exact result. You could also use Check Fus just to see what it suggests your latest firmware should be.
Hello.
I'm a new owner of a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I need your help.
If I connect my phone to Kies then the folowing text is displayed:
PDA: LF5 / PHONE: LF5 / MODEM: LF2 (VDH).
Then if I go to check the last software for the VDH models, on samsung firmware site, a new version (4.1.1) apears.
My question is why this update does not apear on my phone or on Kies?
I curently have the 4.0.4 firmware on my phone.

Check with your phone provider or use CHECKFUS to download any firmware and update .
Or download from this Samsung site you claim has your firmware .
