How do you Terminate Voicemail Notification? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys, this is really annoying me so any chance of a little help please...
Today I received a notification of new 'Voicemail'.
I didn't know the number (hate it when this happens as there is a charge every time you listen to the message).
As it happens the message wasn't for me but I was still charged to listen to it.
Anyway, if that is not enough what is annoying is the voicemail notification simply will not go away from the top bar.
Every time I reboot the phone it first starts to play out loud the voicemail notification and the only way to terminate it is to pull down the notification bar.
Thing is what's further annoying is no matter what I do I can not remove the voicemail icon and notification from the top bar.
When I click to listen to the voicemail it simply tells me I don't have any outstanding voicemail so I then hang up but the notification will not go away.
I have been to the T-Mobile web site obviously there is nothing there and on the phone I have dialled 150 Option 4, 1, 1 which is meant to stop voicemail (I think).
Help please..... It is driving me crazy.

I also want to know
It drives me crazy
I am with fido and I have a voicemail notification and it does not want to go away
I erased the phone 2-3 times, I left a message in my voicemail and then I deleted
no matter what I do the notification is there.
I tried the same with my nexus one and atrix but I dont have any notification.
It seems to be the phone itself

Just a long shot, but have you got a txt message that relates to having a voice mail, if so try deleting?

Well, in a weird sort of way I am pleased I am not the only one who is having this issue (apologies prince_72). It shows the problem is not isolated to either my phone or some form of settings.
In answer to morg01 ~ no... as a protection to my profession once I have received and actioned any text messages they are deleted. So it can not be a previous message that is the cause.
If the blessed thing has not disappeared come Monday I will speak with T-Mobile to ask if they have an answer.
However, I think they will most probably point me either to here or here but all these do is terminate voicemail, not handle notification.
I'm hoping it is something as simple as their system that is reactivating the notification despite the fact the last one I received I deleted.
We'll see.

I had this issue along with the com.android.phone crashing issue and they just switched my phone out in the shop. It might be time for a replacement?

Time for a replacement! That's a bit harsh.
In all other manner the phone works absolutely perfectly.

I have the issue too, I don't have carrier vm set up (i use g voice) but I forgot to set up voice after doing a wipe and got a vm. It asks me for a password that doesn't exist and wont let me delete the notification.

I dont think a replacement is a solution.
This is a software problem and I think the problem has to do with the software
implementation of the voicemail implementation.
If I put my Fido sim card to my Nexus one or Motorola Atrix I dont get the voicemail notification.
Also just to reply to morg01 I do get text messages along with the voicemail notification at the status bard but I delete the text messages I receive.
The problem is how to remove the voicemail notification.
I have a feeling that the Baseband implementation is wrong.
I got the phone from Europe and I dont think it supports the special features from Fido.
Just to mention that I dont have Name Display as well.
I would have to wait for the Canadian version to appear and to flash the modem
but until I wait that I will be really happy to remove that stupid ugly notification

I've been using Google Voice for the last 6 months. It's not always perfect, but you can read a transcript of your mail. And it's free and reversable.

Finally I fixed the notification problem
My carrier (FIDO) has two voicemail systems. One is for Iphone with the visual voicemail and the second is the reset of phones.
I used to have the second. It seems Galaxy S II does not really work ok with the more standard. The CSR switched me over to the visual voicemail and now everything works ok.

Nice one.... That proves it's a carrier issue.
I'm hoping to get to the bottom of my problem tomorrow.

Is visual voicemail always this slow???

I've tried Google Voice and using Youmail right now... only once in awhile does either show the VM msg fairly quickly. I'd say at least 90% of the time there's a huge lag, usually at least 30+ minutes before it shows notification of VM. I had a call today come in at 4pm and didn't recognize the # offhand so let it go to voicemail, I totally forgot about it as it never gave me notification. Then I'm shopping at like 6pm and it goes off telling me there was a VM for the call at 4pm.
I've tried reinstalling, no difference. Really irritating as that is the one thing I loved about my iPhone, it would show up within seconds of someone leaving a voicemail. Why can't Android/Carrier figure out or offer VM for these phones like the iPhone has?

I use Google voice and the notification is always instant. The transcript might be delayed but the voicemail and notification have never been delayed. Something isn't right with your phone/rom/settings I suspect. Do you have background data and sync turned on?
Push notification?
I use PhoneFusion's Visual Voicemail Plus, and the voicemail notification and e-mails always show up within seconds of a message.
I may check out PhoneFusions VVM and see....yesterday Youmail seemed to be fine, msg's came fairly quickly. But generally there's a huge lag. Just sucks there's no program like the VVM setup on AT&T's iPhones (not sure how it is on other carriers).

There is "AT&T Messages" in the market. vvm, mms and sms in one carrier built app. My wife used it for a while...I'm not a fan, but it's there

[Q] Voicemail notification will not go away.

OK guys, I have a dilemma.
I've searched through the forums and turned up nothing, so I did make an honest attempt to solve this on my own.
Now, down to business.
For the past few months now, my new voicemail notification will just not go away.
The phone will not let me simply dismiss it, either. Even if I wipe, and switch ROMs.
I can't just call voicemail, as well, to clear. I get a the female Google Voice, voice saying " A problem has occurred. Please try again." As such, I believe the problem first occurred when I first subscribed to Google voice. (I received a GV# as well.) Of course, first thing, I switched my voicemail provider to GV on my phone. From here, I noticed the notification, (presumedly from AT&T voicemail) was still there. "Simple enough", I thought. Just switch my VM provider on my phone back to AT&T.
I still get the GV voice not letting me call.
I'm at my wit's end over this issue.
Thank you all in advance and for your your continued help toward the i-777 community overall.

This is just a wild guess... I have had the ATT vmail icon stick (stay on) from time to time. The way I have found to clear it is call from another phone and leave myself a message. Wait for the notification, and then check vmail and delete the message. (take your time with this) Sounds crazy, but it clears it for me. I think if you get a vmail and you speed through the process and delete and hang up right away the notification sticks every once in a blue moon.
If you cant access your ATT vmail, you need to disable all of your GVoice options till you clear matters up with you ATT Vmail account.
Dial ##004# then press send to stop forwarding of GVoice.

Thank you. I appreciate the quick response.
I tried what you suggested, and when when I call voicemail, I still get the GV "We could not complete your call. Please try again.", message.
I'll probably just end yp calling ATT and asking that they wipe my voicemail-box for me. (If they can.)
Issue Resolved
I called AT&T. The lady on the other line was very cheerful, helpful, and attentive. She un-setup my entire carrier voicemail for me, which as a result, finally removed my new voicemail notification!
While I'm still not able too access my carrier voicemail system, this isn't a problem to me as I can use Google Voice instead.

I solved it by leaving a voicemail for myself from another phone. After I deleted that voicemail, it went away finally.
The problem I always had was that my phone number automatically forwards to google voicemail.
The solution i found to work is this:
1.use that notification to call t-mobile's voicemail system
2. when it says you do not have a VM, press (2?) to send a message to another user
3.Enter your number as the recepient
4. leave a short message.
5. send it
Now hang up, use the notification to call your VM box again, and you will have one message to delete. this got rid of my notification. happened last time I upgraded to the G2X as well. This is not device specific. it has something to do with google voice.
Well ty that did the trick leaving a message to my self ty to all who responded much appreciated

That worked for me, but then later I got a voice mail from somebody else and checked it. Deleted it but the icon remained. So I had to call myself and leave a message and then it finally cleared. Hopefully it doesn't happen all the time. It's pretty annoying.
Go to settings>application manager then go to phone. Clear data. Icon disappears.
I had the same problem. I called t mobile at 611 and the lady walked me through the process. My problem was tough because I had Google Voice as my voicemail, so that overrides tmobile voicemail. Anyways, she basically erased my google voice voicemail and set up the new voicemail with tmobile. Icon is not there and I got rid of that stupid google voice.

Can't Clear the Voicemail Notification

Hi All,
I am facing a problem in my Lumia 800. I am facing the same issue. My phone was in locked state. A message appeared saying that I have a voicemail even though I have not set up my voicemail on the phone. After that this message is just stuck, it is continuously showing up on phone notification hub as well as in the locked screen notifications.
I have tried the following:-
- Reset the phone
- Setup Voicemail
- Sent voicemail messages to my phone. Listened to them and then deleted them.
Now I do not have any message in my voicemail but still this notification is stuck and is continuously on.
Please help.

are you on tmobile? I had that problem, I called them and had them turn on visual voicemail (its free) and then in call setting turned the visual voicemail on. The notification went away.

No I am on a different carrier. I will try calling my carrier and ask them to enable visual voicemail. Btw i don't see any visual voicemail option in call settings right now. The only option I see is the voicemail number.

I called my carrier helpline. They say that they don't have visual voicemail. I am stuck now. Please help.
This happened to me last night on my Lumia 800. I listened and saved it and it still showed up. Rang up again and it said no new voicemails. I had to delete the voicemail for it to disappear. I know that doesn't really help you but I have had issues with it....
On a similar note I had the same problem with a text message over the weekend. I read it and the notification on the messaging hub wouldnt go away, it showed on the lock screen and my girlfriends tile pinned to the start screen. That eventually disappeared after i clicked on and off it numerous times.
And over the last few days my Me tile has stopped working properly. It keeps telling me I have notifications even though it's days old. It keeps disappearing then re-appearing. Very annoying.

[Q] SGP321 (LTE) Incoming GSM calls...

Hi All
From what I understand, the Xperia Tablet Z 4G isn't meant to be able to make and/or receive GSM calls. I came from a Samsung P6800 that was able to make and receive GSM calls so I have a SIM that is attached to a voice and data plan. I'm now using that same SIM in the XZT.
Earlier this afternoon, I turned on my tablet and saw what looked like a missed call screen that flashed by and disappeared. There was no notification of a missed call. I remember the screen had light colours - like light green and blue and yellow (if my memory serves me right).
Tonight I actually received a GSM call. I didnt get to answer it in time (well, let's say that when I got to the tablet, I stood there looking at it and wondering what was going on and the call stopped!).The screen that came up is what I described above. It had an icon of a phone with a circle around it in the middle of the screen. I'm guessing that to answer the call, I would've had to have put my finger on the icon and drag it out to a side.
I tried calling my tablet again with my normal phone to replicate it and maybe try get a screenshot, but I can't seem to get through on the number.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there software on the phone that can make and receive phone calls?
Edit: I should add that I'm on 4.2.2... and Build number is 10.3.1.A.0.244.
I had hoped I could use it as a huge phone, but nope.
I was told the hardware wasn't there.
But if you truly have had an incoming call, then there might be hope.
Right now I'm using Skype and the tablet redirect calls to my Skype-number.
There is..
I use viber a lot and everytime i recieve a call there is a phone with a circle and a wave on it and i just drag the phone to the right to answer it.

Yeh, I thought that it could be Skype or Viber or one of them chat apps, but I wasn't signed into any of those at the time. I'd only had the tab for a couple of days and was still in the process of installing apps.
It hasn't happened since then.. but i'll keep a lookout for it and see if it happens again.
How about Google Voice? If you have it set up on your account you might be getting a call to that number. Try calling it.
