[BOOT ANIMATION] Techboot Transformer (+audio) [Update 07/10/11 - Version for 2.3.4] - Atrix 4G Themes and Apps

This is my 1st attempt at porting a boot animation.
All credit goes to the creator.
Original boot animation can be found here ------>
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078743
Thanks to Nottach for instructing me in the basics so I could start playing with porting boot animations.
I have included what I thought was a good audio match.............nice Transformers clip.
I take no responsibility for any damage you do to your phone. This has been tested on my Atrix only.
Installation:
1.Download "bootanimation_techboot_transformer.zip" and "transformers.mp3"
2.Copy zip and mp3 to sdcard
3.Use any file manager (ex. Root Explorer)
4.Move "bootanimation_techboot_transformer.zip" and "transformers.mp3" to /system/media
5.Backup existing "bootanimation.zip"
6.Rename "bootanimation_techboot_transformer.zip" to "bootanimation.zip"
7.Reboot phone
8.Enjoy

Hey, I'm honoured that you liked my bootanimation and gj porting it!

Added CWM version for those with unlocked bootloader and new Tenfar CWM.

maybe an fyi for others...when I first did this I got the image but no sound.
if that is the case rename the transformers.mp3 file and use a capitol T
or edit the desc.txt file...either one.
Hope this helps someone.

Should have been ok. Checking now.
Which version?
<edit> Nothing wrong with either CWM version. My 1st and the original zip file did have a capitol "T" in the description file. Fixing now.
<edit 2> Fixed. All versions are fine now, although I may remove the "non-CWM" version.

The originals...sorry.
I've been playing around with this ever since. Didn't know you could do sounds with boot. thats pretty cool.

hey I am on gingerbread, the sound doesn't work for some reason
I tried 2 kind of installation, it still doesn't work.
Also I check the T is capital, anyone has any ideas?

If you are on 2.3.4, then I can't help. I will change description to reflect it not working on this build.

im using this on hktw-2.3.4 w/o the sound (purposely) and it works fine.

Thanks! It works!

Animation works perfectly when moving from SDCard to system/media as OP instructed for the AT&T official 2.3.4 ROM, but the Transformers MP3 does not play as stated above - does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get it to work?
EDIT - FIXED per this thread, all you have to do is move the MP3 file to /system/media/audio/notifications and you'll get sound when booting! Thanks CaelanT for the fix!

I'll create a flashable Rom for 2.3.4 later today. Audio goes in /system/media/audio/notifications for this build.

Does this work for Galaxy S2, too? I'm interested.

flashable, that's what the [CWM] means.
edit: added installation instructions.
thanks. I was looking at some instructions on the various ways to change your animation, I guess flashing is the easiest. When the instructions say to replace your old bootanimation.zip, you'll find it in System/customize/resource (HTC) or System/media, but I have the Ginger_Alev3 ROM and my gingerbread animation is in System/bin. Think this will work OK on the gingerbread ROM?

to be honest, i have no idea. i flashed and tested it on a stock install and i'm currently running it on 4.1.83. i'm afraid i can't speak for anything else.
Doesn't work with gingerbread. I think the bootanimation being in system/bin is the problem.

Dropped in the techno audio from the Matrix as I thought the regular audio for this animation would be boring and too low in volume. May not be everyone's cup of tea.

There are also CWM flash files for the older Tenfar CWM in the OP, so depending on which CWM you are using, you can still flash the boot animations.
The reason I have the unlocked bootloader version is because everyone who unlocked their bootloader also flashed the newer CWM which doesn't require you to have your phone connected to a power outlet. These files have to be slightly different in order to flash properly.
Ahh great cheers ...I suppose I should have checked back on the OP....rookie mistake..my bad

CRT animation on stock rom?

Hi! I have a rooted galaxy s2 with stock 2.3.5. Is there a way to add the CRT animation to the stock ROM?
See this thread
To install, download Root Explorer app, then:
1. Download the file from the above thread and unzip.
2. Connect the phone to your computer via USB and copy the downloaded framework-res.apk file to a folder on the internal SD drive.
3. On the phone, open the Root Explorer app.
4. Navigate to /system/framework.
5. Long press on framework-res.apk and press Copy
6. Press back key then navigate to /sdcard/external_sd/backup and hit paste to create a backup on the external sd card [NB backup is a folder I use for backups, but you can paste it anywhere]
7. Press back key twice then navigate to the /sdcard folder where you copied the downloaded framework-res.akp file.
8. Long press on framework-res.apk and press Copy to copy the new version.
9. Press back key twice then navigate back to /system/framework and hit "Mount r/w" at the top.
10. Press Paste to overwrite the new file over the old one.
11. The screen goes black, the startup music plays, then the screen comes back and it's installed.
Thanks I changed the framework-res.apk and it works but the animation doesn't seem to display very well... It looks more or less like this:

Check out jkays mods.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154278
If you have one of the supported stock Rom versions you can easily flash his stock odexed theme to keep the stock look then install jkay delux application and get the CRT effect and many other tweaks that I'm sure you will find useful.
Great lockscreen too.
I think this is a much better option than trying to do each mod manually.
Also everything from jkay is totally reversible.

Is it not flashing CWM, or is it not there AFTER you reboot the photon? If it's not sticking (stock bootstrap appears after reboot) go to /system/etc and rename install-recovery.sh to install-recovery.sh.bak and it will stick. By default when the photon boots it checks the recovery and if it isn't right it will reinstall it. Renaming the .sh file prevents that (it will NOT stop you from booting properly).
I'm a MoPho-er
I think you right can you explain moree pleasee more detail in how to do it please
Use an app like root explorer (file manager) and navigate to the folder /system/etc. At the top of the window there will be a button to "mount R/W", this will make the directory read/write (R/O means read only). Find the install-recovery.sh file and long press on it. A menu will pop up. Choose rename and rename it to install-recovery.sh.bak (just add the .bak to the end of the file name) and save it. That way you will still have it if you need to go back to stock recovery for whatever reason. After you save click on the "mount R/O" button at the top of the window. This will change the directory back to "Read Only". After that you can flash CWM and when you reboot it will still be there.
I'm a MoPho-er
BTW, you can do the rename from the phone. It's just like renaming a file on a pc.

Okk eveything sound good i thought that was the problem till i i open my rom explore i couldnt find the file install-recovery.sh anywhere =[[ pictures comming soon till phototrash start working=[[ im not going to stop till i i get flash some room kernel all hat good stuff =]

Stock = NON-Custom ROM, or the one that is shipped with your phone (in this case, Gingerbread)
Build = Check Settings>About Phone
Not sure why you don't have that install_su.sh file or whatever, but I would use RSD lite to go back to STOCK Build 198_6, unlock again, and then flash CWM 5.0.2.7. It's fast, easy, and you're starting from scratch so you aren't missing any files.
it say build number 4.5.1 A-1 198_7
I would agree with KTT16, SBF back to 198_6, root, unlock, then flash the 5.0.2.7-photon3 recovery. Follow what I listed a couple posts earlier and rename the install-recovery.sh before you flash and everything should be cool. Look in the "Mopho Compendium" thread and you'll find everything you need. There'll be links to videos by qbking77 showing how to do everything.
