Bye Bye NS4g ;( hello evo 3d - HTC EVO 3D

So today I pre-ordered the evo 3d, something i told my girl friend I wouldn't do lol! You know I love the Nexus, its a great phone, but the other day I flash the miui rom and it messed up my calling for some reason. My girlfriend would call me and it take her to "im sorry you can not reach this person right now," and when i would call her it would make a beeping sound. It is not that bad because it doesn't happen all the time but I gave me a reason to switch phones. I still have 30 days left on my nexus so why not?
So I went into best buy and to pre-order and the lady was looking to fixed the problem I told her I had and she said if I mind if she deletes everything on my sd card. I was like "NOOOOOO!!!!!!" lolz I was gonna say I have an unrooted stock recovery in that, but she probably wouldn't know what that meant.
Anywho hopefully the evo 3d can be rooted as easy as the nexus. I'm not jive with the one click root method. I will sure miss the 4000+ quadrant scores tho haha

How'd you get 4000+ quadrant scores?

CM7 + Netarchy Kernel + OC to 1.4 = awesome sauce. The highest I got was 4200, the trinity kernel can OC to 1.5 and get 5500+ @[email protected], but ehh I take quadrants with a grain of salt, but boy are they fun to run when you get earth shattering numbers.

I have a Nexus too and for a single core device. Its beast!!!

Some kernels spoof their abilities to pretty much replicate a time machine. It thinks it's processing data before it is. The same CPU is in the Epic, and it can pull at most, 2800. (That's OC'd to 1.4 ghz). It was explained somewhere else, not sure I remember correctly.

I just think you are making an excuse to switch

When I opened the Nexus it got 2250 stock on quadrant. Epic runs all that touchwiz junk. AOSP will always be better performance wise.

hmm your nexus is probably a factory freak because the highest stock quadrant on mine is 1850 but it is so inconsistent. Sometimes i get 1300, 1400, 1500, it chooses when it wants to give out a high score lol! BTW does anyone know to how wave an activation fee?

[DISCUSSION] 1.6Ghz achieved and benched on Vibrant (supposedly)

Here
After last weeks DX farce with 2Ghz and 3Ghz Im cautious however these guys seem to have the benchies to back it up. We've long heard the potential for the hummingbird was 1.6. Only sad part is they say no Fascinate development till they get one. Removing the 56fps cap is nice too
I've never heard of these guys before? Legit? Renowned? Anyone know.
I would say all is BS until proven other wise. In my opinion the hardware would burn up at those speeds.

Agreed. 1.6 has long been discussed as an achieveable speed. Dirrk was tinkering with it weeks ago. Its voltage requirement obviously is high and near the threshold point given the non-active cooling for the cpu. But I would not be surprised this could be achieved. I mean shoot we have 1.25Ghz on less than stock voltage already.
Benchmarks in one hand, stability in the other. When I see a posted kernel with good reviews for a week or so, I'll do more than raise an eyebrow. lol.
It's on the OCLF kernel, which if I remember, is well known for posting high quadrant scores without giving any real performance benefit.
Also, benchmark overclock's in the desktop world are always just for demonstration, not an application. Ever seen that 7GHz overclock benchmark they did on a Pentium 4?
This is no BS. The devs working on this are reputable and put out some of the best Vibrant ROMs out there. They're stable at 1.6ghz and are talking about pushing it to 1.8/2.0.

This doesn't suprise me. I could push my Droid to 1.32ghz. That's well over a 100% overclock. Achieving a 60% overclock shouldn't be too hard, especially on newer and much better hardware.
I find it tough to believe that most phones will be stable at a 60% overclock. Granted, Im only speaking from my experience with desktop CPUs... What type of software do people run to test stability?

What has been your experience with desktop cpu's. I cannot remember the last desktop cpu I have which at least 50% so I dont find 60% outrageously unreasonable. Active cooling obviously makes a difference.
With the battery life Im seeing on Dirrks UV kernels and even what I got on stock voltages pre-OC I would feel confident I could still get a full day off a 1.4-1.5Ghz hummingbird even if the voltage had to be raised to 1400mv.
I'm having trouble with stability with the 1.2 OC kernals...
So I checked out the thread in the vibrant section. This is def for real! Looks awesome! I had trouble with dirrks lv 1200. But every other kernel has ran fine. I'm sure that eventually we'll have everything we can dream on this phone. Good thing its already so great that I don't mind waiting. I hope I don't have to find an excuse to exchange my phone in search of one that can handle more.

@teamwhiskey is a god send. they have pulled the download though, due to flaws in their kernal. they are in the process of re-vamping it and re-testing. it seems while the kernal did improve performance it is unknown how much because it was also manipulating the internal clock speed.

Yes this is for real. I personally run it. Heres quadrant I ran last night. This kernel should be ported to all SGS phones. As long as they get a good dev with this phone to help port.
CPU didnt see near the gain I had hoped it would.
ya the CPU is getting destroyed by the N1. And what is with the ridiculous I/O. Did someone port a PCI express array of SSD's on the Vibrant? Maybe they just developed the GOD file system.
I make jokes, but I want the screen of my Fascinate to say 3439 also haha
I am on a mesmerize niw coming from a vibrant. I used this kernel. There was a timing issue. The io scores come from oclf which cheats quadrant. Those guys have released a pretty stable 1.4 oc that is real. I got 68 fps in neocore. Truth be told guys there is no need for oc in my opinion. With froyo the phone plays flash easily. Only application of oc to me is emulation and bragging rights. A good voodoo kernel works wonders honestly.

[POLL] Can your EVO 3D Overclock beyond 1.5GHZ and be stable? Over 80% Says YES!

I am one of the unlucky ones that no matter what kernel/rom combination I cannot sustain over 1.5GHZ without a re-boot.
Curious to see how many share my ill fortune to see whether this is more the exception or the norm among the XDA EVO 3D community...
I can do 1728, but 1782 reboots on me. I'm glad though... My hero was stuck at 691, my first shift couldn't top 1000, the second one got 1600 but others got 1800, so I'm happy with 1728. And just a note, I could get higher using on demand versus other governors, so be sure to try that.

I don't know what the **** a 3vo is, but my Evo 3D gets sluggish if I go over 1.5. But that's because of something in the SilverNeedle test5 kernel, from what I hear.

From what I now understand, the CPU bin will play a role of whether your phone can go past 1.5Ghz and remain stable. But some of you guys need to wait because the kernels aren't made for every phone in mind. One may work for yours, the other may work for someone. So let the kernels get out of there beta stages.
Appreciate my help? Thank me
I'm at 1728Mhz and works perfect. Been using 1728 pretty much since the first OC was released.

Well that officially BLOWS!!!
I'm the exception... guess bad silicone... oh, well may be something else will go wrong and I'll get an exchange...
BTW, anyone know how to rename a Thread so I can put Evo 3D since seems some don'y like me calling it 3Vo :

No problem here.
Now we need to ask about battery life. How does the overclock messes up your battery life? Out a normal 100%, how much % gets eaten on your normal day by the cpu?
And the 1.8ghz is max? In standby ect i want it underclocked.
I eun mine at 1.8 and have no issues at all. I'm on mags rom as well

On my E4G I set min384/max1176 for a vast majority of its life and never had bad battery life that wasn't coming from somewhere obvious like 4g on, low 3g signal, etc... And with the havs/uv kernels it was even better battery life than bone stock.... Id image same will happen here. I've been rocking 384/1728 since netarchy released his test kernel and I have no noticeable difference in battery life.

the cpu on the 3d is a 1.5GHz, but HTC underclocked it to 1.2GHz.
i get 1.8 and am stable, on a 1.5, you should be able to hit 1.7 with zero issues. most should be able to hit 1.8+ w/ no (or very little) issues.
Was running 1836 with no problems when I was temp rooted. Now I'm fully rooted and using nets kernel and capped at 1728. Both are stable and fast.

3G Speeds

Y'all probably thought this was another one of those "OMG my speeds are terrible! the photon 4g's speeds aren't terrible so why are my speeds garbage?!?!?!?!" If that's what you expected...well...I'm sorry that's what our General section has become. Anyways, let me go to my point:
So I was looking into my 3G speeds..they've been terrible lately (of course)..so I'm just dicking around with my phone trying to get it right...
I found out that the 3G speeds on the dual core kernels is a lot better than stock. So that got me wondering "maybe the 3G relies more on the second processor and the reason why the dual core kernels have better speeds is because the second processor is always active." I've been going back and forth on dual core and stock and it looked like it was holding up but I started thinking "that can't be right" so...I went with the stock kernel and just put it on performance and went back to testing...and sure enough, the 3G speeds are better. Not insanely better but before putting it on performance my ping was around 1200-1800ms...after, its around 700-900ms.
Here's why I think our speeds suck...it's because HTC is actually making decent kernels. Our phones sleep like babies and with the ondemand governor...the up threshold is at 90 by default...so that prevents the phone jumping up to 1.2GHz all of the time. But I'm thinking that's actually hurting us because our phones actually have to do some real work before it goes from 400MHz to 1.2GHz. So we could be in the browser with the ondemand governor and the up threshold at 90 and trying to open a page...our processor might jump to 800MHz but since that's not a lot of power...our 3G speeds will suffer. Now if it were just at 1.2GHz to begin with, it'd be a lot better.
So if what I'm thinking is right...we probably aren't even benefiting from having our CPU's hang around lower frequencies because if my ping is 1800ms...my 3G has to be on longer just to load up a page when compared to a phone with a ping of 900ms...So I'm starting to think that we are actually hurting ourselves by trying our hardest to save as much battery as possible.
Ill flash a dual core kernel now and post before and after results.
Thanks for the info. My 3g speeds are making me mental (I didn't update prl either)

Thank you sir. My speeds are making me crazy as well...and I just decided to post this because I know it'll get people testing on it too that way we can all come to a conclusion on SOMETHING. We've all been saying our 3G speeds suck for a while and now it's time to pinpoint the problem.
And I think I owe the thread this much:
I live in Dallas and at my house I was working with 3-4 bars when using the speedtest app.
First I just used the ondemand governor at 1.2GHz and up threshold of 90 and got ~1200ms the first and second time and then ~1800ms the third time.
I went to the dual core kernel that I think smokey made...and I used his VOC one (because you can mess with setCPU with that one) and my ping was around 400-600ms.
I went back to my stock kernel and lowered the up threshold to 40 and I was still getting around 1000ms-1500ms...averaging basically 1200ms.
I put it on performance and at first got ~700ms then ~900ms then 400-600ms and I got a best of ~300ms.
Also:
"In most constant-voltage cases it is more efficient to run briefly at peak speed and stay in a deep idle state for longer (called "race to idle"), than it is to run at a reduced clock rate for a long time and only stay briefly in a light idle state"
I read taht from wikipedia. That's why I'm against setCPU profiles with the screen off. It is in fact better to use those profiles with 2.3.x than 2.2 because I remember 2.2 wasn't really killing any apps so if you were awake with the screen off..you pretty much stay awake. But it's also important to note that it does take longer for the processor to go into an idle mode if you are using any governor other than performance because of the fact that you have to scale up...and depending on how the dev decided to "conserve" battery, it might take a really long time.
But at the same time..you're using unnecessary power when at 1.2GHz to handle something real small...but since the whole CPU isn't being used to handle that (according to System Panel), and at an increased frequency like 1.2GHz...you'd be able to knock the task out quicker...idk, I'm just thinking.
Just wanted to show you my before now because it may be a few minutes to post my after.
Notice that teensy weeny 1 bar next to my 3g. That's pretty normal when I'm home (thank god for wifi). Ill be back!

This is a placebo. You can update your prl to 00001 and see a real speed increase. The real problem is with sprints backhaul network. With the same kernel I go from 100 kbps on sprint to 1000 kbps on Verizon. Fact.

You see, the only real problem is that if you roam too much on one of those PRLs (and you're always roaming, technically) Sprint will tell you that you're roaming too much and they'll drop you if it continues. If it does, then they'll send you a letter informing you that your service will be terminated and they give you X amount of days to find a new service before they officially discontinue your service. Those PRLs are great because I get excellent service, but if you plan on using 3G like crazy (even in WiFi spots) expect that letter. I never noticed any difference in my speeds and only used the PRL for a day or two, but if you like it go for it. It should also be noted that some guys have been using the PRL hack for around a year without anything to show for on Sprint's side, in terms of angry letters and whatnot, so you may be fine. It's all preference.
Hmmmmm. I've been with sprint for 10 years. I'm gonna have to think about that one. If I could get 4g from it (I know I can't), it would be a no brainer. But to chance losing sprint may not be worth a few more kbps.
Edit. You know what really grinds my gears? (Everyone knows where that's from). Is my niece is visiting and she has a thunderbolt. I just ran speed tests on her 4g and my 3d over wifi and she wooped me by almost 4 mbps. Just ain't fair.

It's so frustrating, Sprint's overloaded network needs a biiiggg tuneup. And that announcement they're supposed to make coming up soon about their network (from an article I read on Engadget a week or so ago) hopefully will let us know about LTE integration or somehow fixing our crawling data speeds... but hey, you could give the 00001 PRL a run and if they tell you that you're roaming too much then drop the PRL, and go back to normal ones. I personally don't think it's worth it but also I spend most of the day in school (with WiFi) or at home (with WiFi) so it doesn't affect me too much. But not even getting 4G at home or school sucks a lot.
so if your saying on demand gov is hurting our 3g, then should setting it on performance get higher speed? considering thata the cpu running at max speed? JW.
I dont get why everyone trusts speed.net or whatever. I ran a test with my evo3d and my samsung transform side by side. the transform always showed higher speeds but always took longer load up or down. my evo would be done way before the transform and would never read as high of speeds. Also tested my nexus and photon and they all avg around the same for me.

Check this out...I think I really was on to something y'all.
I'm running Empire's AOSP rom (he has sound working btw so if you didn't know that, now you know. Go download and support!) and I did a speed test...my ping averages less than 100ms! The most I've seen was ~120ms. Remember what I was saying when I was on Sense? I was getting a best of 500-600ms on a dual core kernel and about 1200-1800ms on stock.
Sense seems to not only be messing up the performance...but its probably tanking our 3G speeds as well. I mean this is ridiculous....from ~1200ms to ~100ms. C'mon HTC Sense...
just ran another test after a reboot...ping was actually over 120ms (it was 148) and my download was 1334kbps and the upload was 635kbps. **** you Sense.

Overclock speed

Okay, so I just ran the CPU Benchmark test and got 1100mhz and 1000mhz with 430ms and 497ms.
What's everyone else getting? Just curious to compare numbers.
I stop benchmarking back when i had the heroc lol. Scores don't really mean anything. ****ty phones out score dual core phones at times, so my advice would be 2 just delete any benchmark apps on your phone asap or scores will drive you crazy...take it from someone thats owned at least 15 android devices since launch its for the best.
FYI overclocking is out and undervolting is in. These days these phones are already fast enough id undervolt to save battery

That is your opinion, and to me your opinion is bleh. I love benchmarks and they do mean quite a bit regardless of what you might think. Undervolting isn't in for me at all, I want max overclock with max over volt. I care less about battery saving, these phones do not save battery and minusing a little voltage from the CPU will not only make it severely unstable it is sometimes worse than overvolting. I have been overclocking since the 333mhz CPU. And I can tell you that benchmarks do mean a lot, they tell you quite a bit about your setup and what you could improve on. Not just one single benchmark, you would need a few. That is my main reason for flashing. I want a fast phone, not just fast, faster than yours! That is just how I am.
I would not suggest deleting your benchmarks, keep them, and compare, always, then you will know your phone, and I mean really know your phone. That is my opinion, and it ROCKS!

You might be one of the few people who still believes overclocking is the ****.....
I know how fast my phone is based on performance and benchmark apps arent an indicator of speed/performance. Most bench apps only run one core to test they don't support dual so?

I stop benchmarking back when i had the heroc lol. Scores don't really mean anything. ****ty phones out score dual core phones at times, so my advice would be 2 just delete any benchmark apps on your phone asap or scores will drive you crazy...take it from someone thats owned at least 15 android devices since launch its for the best.
FYI overclocking is out and undervolting is in. These days these phones are already fast enough id undervolt to save battery

+1 about scores, they can easily be manipulated for e-penis reasons, CM on the evo3d is stupid fast, but I read benchmarks are horrible. Evo3d is a faster phone but the proton scores significantly higher is a good example, I frequently get lag on my MoPho.

Very true, my photon scored higher than my evo 3D across the board but i know the 1.2 dual snapdragon can out perform the tegra 2 anyday. Owning a 3D for a month was awful though lol. So glad i got my photon.

I do think overclocking is the ****. I do it as a passion, but undervolting isn't the best way to go. Yes it can be stable with undervolting, but I think you can go way to far also. And there are apps out there that test both cores, and there will be more out there that test both cores. Dual-core phones are still pretty new. But its really a moot point, I like it, you don't, we can leave it at that. I am going to try to start working on kernels myself and learning about them. Maybe I will come up with something you like that gets the best of both worlds. I would love for there to be a kernel out that you could just switch modes. High performance, and low battery use. etc. I don't just mean governor switching, switching the kernel, I'm sure that would require just reflashing different kernels, but maybe someday it wont.

I believe you are completely wrong here, the 3d sucked. The Photon can crush that snapdragon chip. I too had the 3d, but I know the Photon outperforms that thing by a long shot. The 3d was an asynchronous processor, the tegra is not.

I found this to be quite neat:
As an upstart in the mobile industry, NVIDIA is moving at a lightning-fast pace. The company is already working on a quad-core processor called Kal-El and this should be in a retail product as early as August.

Ppl say snapdragon is faster because of what the chip can do theoretically but in real world it can only playback 1080p videos smoother.

I have both the evo3d and the photon, I know for a fact that the evo3d is faster, the E3d overall just feels snappier and never had a problem with lag. The proton on the other hand would frequently lag when im running tune in and using another app like the browser or while texting. The EVO or the evo3d never did that. Ill go out and say that I feel the proton is all around better phone as far as build and quality goes, but it does not beat the Evo3d as far as processing power, multitasking and efficiency, and that's in real world use.

^^^^^ +1 on this. Tegra is more about gpu/gfx while dual snap dragon is all about raw processing power. Though this is my first tegra device and i must say its amazing but the dual snap has more power. Im a huge nvidia fan by the way and these processors are just amazing. Cant wait to see tablets shipping with quad core nvidia processors!
Yea I never really played any games, my evo3d had too many touch screen issues lol.
I won't own another HTC phone. I don't care what processor it has. Unless it can either A) Dive for me or B) Build my cars I have no interest what so ever in it. So I'm happy with the chipset we have. :]

I don't think you even read my link, it is proven that the tegra has 10-15% more power thn the snap. regardless of what you think you can 'feel' real numbers do tell quite a bit. More than you can tell by 'feeling'.
Not saying that your specific phone isn't faster than your specific other phone, but in real time and real life, the tegra is 10-15% faster than the snap. Sorry.

I have the Photon, Evo 3d, and Now the Epic, and still have my OG Evo, here are my personal stats
Photon: amazing and the smoothest for gaming
Evo 3d: pretty much amazing with everything
Epic: fast and smooth and best for battery life
OG Evo: best for customization, ROM flashing, kernal flashing, and for lasting the longest out of every sprint smartphone

Lol you're funny bro. I did read your link and it doesn't prove anything. You give me a link from a site dated 3/24/11 when the 3D wasn't even around neither were dual core snap dragons and you expect me to just all of a sudden believe a tegra 2 can out perform a dual snap? Lololol you're getting your information from some site thats barely credible and they start their article with "NVIDIA SAID". No **** nvidia will SAY their product is better bro! Just because that site said 10-15% in march doesnt mean its proven. Cmon dude you can do better than that, thanks for the morning laugh though! Now let me tell you again, dual core snap dragon packs more POWER than the tegra 2 and out performs it no matter what old outdated article you're believing in! SORRY....
Dual core snap dragon runs circles around the tegra 2. Talking out of your ass is never a good idea

I downloaded a couple of games off the nvidia game zone, I am very impressed with the quality of games and how well they run. Im gonna probably sink a lot of money into it lol. As far as nvidia vs snapdragon, its all and always been about personal preference. Both perform well for what they're designed to do.

Woah bud, I never meant it like that. But an asynchronous cpu will not out perform our tegra2 chips, sorry but you are wrong. I am not sure as to why the hostility, was just making you aware of yes, what nvidia said, but it is true. That is simple physics. Thats why when the evo 3d got overclocked the performance increase wasn't ****. I had one too, I know all about it. One of the reasons I got the photon. But no matter, believe whatever you want. No sweat off my back. Those benchmarks mean nothing to me by the way, sorry.
Hard to have a simple debate on these forums. Sucks

Those benchmarks mean nothing but some random site that simply said its 10% better does lol? What are you going to base you statement off then? Can make a claim without facts right? I gave you facts that REAL WORLD test prove dual snapdragon is more powerful, faster, and etc. You're just saying "sorry you're wrong" id say you're the one that doesn't know how to debate. I mean you're asking for a debate but you got nothing but your word and some sketchy old website....lol

need opinions considering buying =]

Hello everyone,
i currently own the good ol' fashion nexus one and i decided to stick with htc.
right now i have my eyes set on the evo 3d but i would like to have some more opinions on the phone from people who acctually own\owned one.
how fast is it?
hows the 3d?
is the 1gb or rom that restrictive? [evo 3d gsm users]
does it run demanding games well? [shadowngun, GTA III, dead space, modern combat 3, etc..]
whats the highest stable overclock and how does it effect performance?
and some general notes you have to say about the device.
thanks you all and best regards

this phone is very good but if you want a phone that you expect many different roms to flash maybe you should get another phone
I say just wait for the phone that everyone wants = more devs

i second this. good phone...not an extreme amount of community/dev support. there is plenty, but it's not a phone that has some great number of experimental roms or anything.
Good phone, but imo should go with something newer if tech interest you. If not, go for it. Can get it really cheap now compared to the other phones with same tech. 3d is just a plus, not a must have but fun to play with and show off to friends.
And 3d boobs =
From the giant: Galaxy Note
It currently has the best resolution, openness of storage, good processor speed, and ram available on sprint. The 3D is an OK extra but even without it it's the best phone right now.

does anyone really even use the 3d capabilities?
how fast is it?
The UI has no lag, if that's what you mean
hows the 3d?
It's annoying and strains your eyes, but pretty cool the first few weeks. After that, you really stop using it.
does it run demanding games well? [shadowngun, GTA III, dead space, modern combat 3, etc..]
Yep, no lag
whats the highest stable overclock and how does it effect performance?
The phone's stock clock is 1.2Ghz. The processor is meant to be at 1.5Ghz so that's the highest stable you'll go. Some phones can get up to 1.8Ghz and 1.9Ghz.
Additional Notes:
Don't get the evo 3D unless you need a new phone now. This phone is 8 months old meaning the new Evo will come out soon. Also, the GSM Evo 3D doesn't have much dev support. If you want great dev support, try the Samsung Galaxy SII.

Never played any of those but I would imagine so. It has pretty beefy processing power and as I said before, if you put a custom ROM and kernel on it then things become VERY smooth. Benchmarks are subjective and everyone has their favorite, but some people can pull over 4000 score in Quadrant benchmark with this phone.

Highest I have seen is just over 2GHz, but I dont think that is stable 100%. Highest known to be stable is a bit over 1.7GHz, most are completely stable around 1.5-1.6GHz range. I have my phone set up with a 2 stage OnDemand governor with a max speed of 1.4GHz
Performance from overclocking is big, especially on a custom kernel like AnthraX. That kernel has different GPU and bus speeds in it as well, and if you run between 1.4-1.6GHz you have an overclocked GPU as well as overclocked CPU. Going above that lowers GPU to stock speeds to help stability.
Performance is VERY good at stock though and you shouldnt need to OC to run anything.
Battery life is average Id say, but if you get just the right setup and tweak things just right you can get amazing battery life. I have gone over 3 days on a single charge with very light usage. On heavy usage it is like any phone and only goes about 5-6 hours.

I keep kidding myself that I'll watch a 3D movie or so one of these days. So far I think I watched half of Avatar.
well thats kind of disappointing i thought this phone would have better opinions...
well then i would like that ull recommend a phone if possible id like to stay with htc... loving sense and loving build quality.. and the gsII isnt a possibility for me...
i wanted the evo 3d over the sensation xe because of the ram..
the question is... is it worth the wait and the money to wait for the next gen snapdragon s4 htc devices which will probebly be annouced at mwc in a month..
great phone fast responsive with the latest update battery life has been great for me. every game i threw at it , it played it with no lag . I think it will take some time for devs to really get a hold of the 3d thing to get that and 4g into asop roms. I found this app on htc hub called phereo thats a 3d pic sharing app thats got me hooked on the 3d side of it again lol. my stable max over clock is 1728 mhz hope this helps

I don't know what these guys are talking about. This is by far the best quality/price you could get right now. There is the Motorola Atrix 4G which is also cheap but not as good as the Evo3D. The only dark spot is the camera which is good but not as great as other phones.
Evo 3D is always on the top 5 most popular phones on XDA. so I guess deving is still ongoing. Most devs are just waiting for an ICS leak to get back. And GSM dev section has nearly all flavours: Sense 3.0, Sense 3.5, AOSP (MIUI, ICS and CM) and I have no doubt that even if some builds miss one or two things, they will get mature in the near future.
Anyway, my choices would be:
If you have money, want speed with good quality build and can wait: HTC Edge.
If you have money, want speed with good quality build and cannot wait: HTC Amaze.
If you don't have money, want speed with good quality build: HTC Evo 3D.
And since I do like to use my phone (using like calling family, checking mails, feeds, etc. not like running useless benchmarks) and want it to stick around, I would never recommend a plastic phone like GSII.

I actually use 3D a lot. I have watched quit a few movies, played almost all of the games and love just checking out 3D pictures. Some people complain about it but I love it. I love the phone overall. The only thing that would stop me from buying this phone, is the possibility of a quad core soon.
