Titanium backup on new gingerbread leak - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone confirm that it will restore both apps AND data when making the switch from 2.2 to 2.3? I had problems restoring data on CM7 using Ti-Bu. Apps would restore fine, but apps+data would fail every time. I'm just wondering if I'm looking at the same scenario here, or if it was possibly failing on CM7 due to something beyond my current understanding (possibly that my data backups were made on comm rom, which is touchwiz based, and the data backups therefore wouldn't be compatible with AOSP?). Any help would be appreciated, thanks =)

Don't think it's ever a good idea to restore data across any changes on the os.
But if your using the gb leak then you can't have had it for to long meaning you have little to lose by trying. Worst case your just reflashing costing you an extra hour at most.
XDA Prem app Running UKB w PBJ

TiBu works fine with the GB leak. I restored apps w/data. Just not system data.

Thanks much guys, I haven't flashed it yet, I just wanted to get a little preliminary info first

[Q] Titanium Backup & GSB v3.1

I'm having an issue with Titanium Backup and restoring my apps properly. I've been using workshed's ROM for quite a while without issues. I recently went from GSB v3.0 to GSB 3.1. I always do full & dalvik wipes when flashing. In the past, I was able to restore my apps and data from Titanium without issue.
But now, the restore process just powers through all the apps very quickly, says it's done, but nothing is actually restored. I dont mind having to download the apps again, but losing my data kinda sucks. Anyone else have this issue?
P.S. I would post in the ROM development thread, but I'm not allowed yet...sigh.
I had that too. Only 5 apps actually backed up before I flashed. I also full wiped data and dalvic before the flash and it looks as if the problem came during 3.0 when I was backing up. Titanium, in my experience didn't like 3.0 very well. It's working great on 3.1 though so idk what to tell you. Once the data is gone, it's gone.
P. S. - if you ever have another q for shed I can post it for you. Just shoot me a pm with a link to the post and I'll quote it over there for you if I can't answer it for you.

luckily, i did a full nand backup before flashing, so I guess I could always wipe and go back to 3.0 to monkey around with Titanium some more if i want.
i really don't want to start Angry Birds over again....lol
Why are you playing that on an Eris, is the real question. lol

not gonna lie...it can be painful on an Eris, lol. but i'm stuck with it for about 2 months, so I make do.
Well, all I can tell you is that when I had tried to run it, there was a full game unlocker on the market for free. Don't know if it's still there but you could look.

I found Titanium acting weird on 3.1 as well. Just downloaded a new busybox and everything worked fine. Maybe shed has a bad busybox file in 3.1?
Maybe. Might want to check it out.

I noted that GSB 3.0 uses Busybox V1.16.2. The latest one is V1.18.4 - with a TON of updates leading up to this latest version (one, a memory leak fix). Perhaps Shed could roll the latest version into GSB 3.2?

Help

Okay so I'm obviously new.. I flash many roms but it is so annoying that I always have to back up my apps with astro file manager but is there an easier was of backing up all my apps and everything else on the previous ROM so i don't have to through that extra crap to get everything perfect like my previous ROM.

Assuming you are rooted since you are flashing that many ROMs, don't most people use Titanium Backup? Has a batch mode to back up all system data and user apps... then I restore the ones I want.

Agreed. Titanium Backup can be downloaded for free from the Market and can be used to back up your apps to your SD card for later restoration.
+3 on Titanium Backup. Well worth the six bucks or so that it costs. Itll restore market links and apps alike. Theyve even got an auto restore feature. The free version is nice, but nothing beats the 0 click restore of the pro version.
Ti doesn't install data correctly on sense 3.0 roms. Just food for thought.

How so? Works perfectly on my end and Im on Synergy with 3.0 sense. Whens the last time you updated? 3.8.8.1 pro restores everything I need back to where it belongs and Ive not had any issues on that front.

Your lucky as many others have had issues restoring data (not system data, just app data) including me. Yes, I was on the latest release.
EDIT...
I use (my backup pro) now and it's been flawless for restoring apps and app data.

This is the first Ive heard about it to be honest. What ROM are you on? Perhaps try another one? Us Synergy users arent having any issues with this.

SD Card and Roms! [HELP!]

Can anyone tell me why Cynogenmod, MIUI, and Vanilla Gingerbread all have problems reading my SD card? I REALLY want Vanilla Gingerbread but it won't read my card like the others. It flashes but keeps saying "SD damaged." It won't let me use it. I reboot, do a battery pull, and do a hard reset but nothing works! It works fine on my PC. It works fine on Evil Fascination and Community Rom! I hate stock! Any help is appreciated! I've only been an Android user for 2 months now and still learning!
No offense dude but do a search.

It's a known issue that has been popping up with the latest vanilla gb and CM7 roms. It is not an issue with the v2 rom of VGB or earlier.
nobody really knows for sure. I would just stay away from those roms until it gets figured out...atleast I am.
Has anyone tried v 2 of jt's kernel? He claims that it helps with the SD card issue

Mine just started doing it within 7 hours of flashing vanilla. Miui had no problems.

Well, I bypassed the SD card errors. Now it was getting gapps to flash. I just gave up and went back to stock. Also, for some reason, my Nandroid backups won't work. It says it has an error restoring system. I'm sick of using titanium bu just to get my apps back. Ill continue to try different things if Nandroid would just work. Anyone know why it doesn't work?

Nandroid restore question.

I tried a ROM and found it to be a bit buggy. I did a nandroid restore back to pre rooted GB. Was I supposed to clear user data and both caches before the restore? Or does that not matter with a complete restore?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
I have to think that its prolly suggested that you do so?? I usually wipe/restore whenever I flash something major, and I have avoided a lot of issues up until this point
I have never cleared data/cache before a restore. It is not needed. Been crack flashing for about a year and a half.

A nandroid backup is done thru cwm (the only place I know of) when you boot into recovery (like if your flashing a rom) you'll see a section that saids "backup" that is where you conduct your nandroid backup up...once you create the back up you can restore using that backup from cwm as well. The backup pretty much copies everything on your phone, from system files to music...this is in my oppinion very important to do especially if your planning on going flash crazy like most of us. So to answer your question about switching, to the best of my knowledge if you created a backup while on GB and created a backup while on ICS than stands to reason you could toggle...but I will tell you that the restore process does take a while, after a few of them you'll be sick of it and I'm not quite sure why you'd want to toggle. I created a backup of GB when the ICS leak first came out just in case there were a lot of issues, I've experienced very few problems while running IcS so I have zero reason to ever go back to GB.

Not really... Get almost the same use with ics. Not enough difference to go back to GB.
