any good kernel? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

im running cm7 what kernel would u guys recommend i need battery life stability and speed

I'm running cm7 also and I recommend using nightly 26 and use neo7 kernel. You will get amazing battery life while being over clocked, plus it's stable.
I've flashed all the nightly builds and 26 has been the best one.
Then flash the neo7 kernel from the link below. If you use this kernel with the new builds, you will not get good results.
Be sure to flash the kernel cleaning script before flashing a new kernel and it's on the link.

[Q] Want to flash to nightly cm7/Overclock

So im currently running the most recent version of cm7 stable version but i want to flash over to a nightly build. I currently dont know which nightly build to go with. Also i have tiatmat kernel with my cm7 version. I dont know if i should just flash the nightly build rom over my current one or what? If anyone can give me some pointers on how to do this. Im just looking to not having to set up everything again than what i did. Also im trying to figure out the best setup for overclocking my phone in terms of undervolting or anything that saves battery but pulls out the beast out of my phone. My phone currently runs at about 1113mz. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks!
Just go to the link for your device and download the latest cm7 nightly. Flash like you would any ROM, since you're already on cm7 there's no need to wipe

Yes. Do this UNLESS the nightly is a different android version. If it is a different android version, then it is recommended to wipe data before flashing.
Well i just flashed over to a different rom. I flashed over to Gingerbread-Evo-Deck [1.3d][2.3.5 beta] with SalvageZen kernel. Im having a bit of a problem though the phone heats up to around 41 C. Thats with the phone running at around 1113mhz. I wanted to know if theres any way i can do a set up to keep it at a stable speed & temp?
Have you tried setting profiles in Setcpu?
Yeah ive tried setting down some profiles but the phone heats up with minimal use. Since before i had the tiatmat kernel & flashing over to the salvagezen kernel has helped.

Cm7 kernel

Anyone have the stock CM7 kernel?
You can reflash the rom to restore the stock kernel.
However, I would recommend imoseyon's AOSP leankernel-- runs much better than the stock kernel on my Tbolt.
Hope this helps.
But my phone loved the stock kernel. And would it wipe?
IMO he's lastest kernel wouldn't let me connect to my wifi or 3G

Most stable DD?

I recently rooted my brother's evo and installed a custom ics rom on it, but hes been having a lot of problems with it and really bad battery drain. Can someone please recommend a stable daily driver (gingerbread or ics) with good battery life and no bugs please. Thanks in advance
i recommend MeanRom 4.3 However, you have to make sure to flash a custom kernel on there as well or you'll have some reboot issues. Either the newest anthrax kernel or dodava's

I've heard MeanRom 4.2 (not 4.3) with Dodava's 5.4 kernel is the most stable, battery efficient Gingerbread ROM.

How to install CM9 and X Kernel on LWW?

Hi, I just want to know how to install CyanogenMod 9 on my Live, and X Kernel. I can't consider myself as a noob, since I have already flashed SE phones before, and now that I have my first smartphone (WT19i) I'm very happy with it and I've already root it and installed CWM. But the problem is I have never installed a Rom before, and I don't know how does they work, but I saw a video of a Live with CM9 installed and I really liked it, so I want to know how to do it and install X Kernel too. Has someone already try CM9? I would like to hear how is it going for you.... Thanks.
No u cant. Currently the xkernel only supports gb roms. Cm9 needs its own kernel.
And u probably need to update baseband too.
Ok thanks for your quick reply. So if I have ICS Stock Rom installed, what Kernel would you recommend me to save more battery life?
And is there a better ICS Rom than the Stock one? Because I would like to try something new..
Only stock or stock based rom will give best battery life.
Last time I try cm9 it got horrible battery life. But that was weeks ago. Hearing good thing about latest fxp cm9 126.
My personal favorite and daily driver is muiv4, with my own kernel. Miuiv4 is beautiful and got many cool feature that I need. But still a little bit battery drainer tho.
In the end it depends on your needs.
Want battery saver, use stock or custom rom based on stock.
Want blazing fast rom use cm9.
Want beautiful elegant rom use miuiv4.
is cyanogenmod9 has its built in stock kernel? or i will install kernel cyanogenmo9?

You need to install cyanogenmod kernel by fxp or the one provided in the zip file
It's a boot.img and the easiest way to flash it is using flashtool...
How to install custom roms/kernels is in my signature...

[Q] Best kernel for LineageOS?

Hello, I was wondering which is the best kernel for Android N that gives out good customizability and battery life.
Currently using official LineageOS 14.1 (obviously) 20171011 Nightly + Saber's DorimanX Kernel v13.0b005.
Thanks!
You are currently using the latest and final version of the only custom LOS kernel available for the i9100. So you're choices are stick with it for a while or switch to the vanilla LOS kernel on your next update by just not flashing the DorimanX one.
You can still do some very basic tuning on the vanilla LOS kernel but it's pretty locked down, for stability reasons I suppose.

Thank you. I might be sticking with that for a while, as I also tried Skyline's kernel but I found that DorimanX is much more stable.
One more question, can I revert back to any CM12.1/13 ROM without doing any other specific work? (ex: repartitioning the device)
