After flashing 2.3.4 from samfirmware.com display coloured - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hello guys,
I was just flashing my new Galaxy Ace and after flashing latest gingerbread 2.3.4 from samfirmware.com, after reboot display is filled with colored stripes ...
Is it bricked now or what can I do to revive it ?

Added screenshot.

Solved, problem is, I flashed 2.3.4 (S5830XXKPH) right on FROYO.XWKC3 as flashed from Orange. Seems flashing gingerbread with old bootloader as presented in that old build caused HW problems.
Display was broken, but downloading mode worked and flashing back to older froyo build resolved issue.
Then I flashed to gingerbread in few inner steps:
- S5830_XXKA6
- S5830XXKC1_CSC_SERKB3
- S5830XXKP8
- S5830XXKPE

I did flash oldest 2.2 stright up to gingerbread. no issues.

Strange, maybe some problem with Orange tweaked firmware.

Does flash 2.3.3+ version doesn't effect phone?

dude theres no relation with kernel and a new firmware, once u install a new firmware u get a kernel compatible with the version u have installed....so u ca n freely install 2.3.3 ,2.3.4 ......
don't worry it wud just improve your phone.. though flashing would void your warranty..

I thought the same, but I couldn't downgrade back to Froyo once GB was installed. For some reason, it used to get stuck at the boot screen. I've tried like 7-8 different Froyo firmwares already. Although yeah it has worked for others, but just sharing my own experience.
Had the same problem. My issue was that i didn't flash the bootloader that came with Froyo. After flashing bootloader as welll, everything worked fine again .

And how'd you do that? Doesn't including the APBOOT flash the bootloader as well? Coz that's what I've tried over a dozen times, but not helped.
Sry, i thought you let apboot field empty...
Because you flashed a one-package firmware that's not complete froyo most likely..

Nope, I know that right? I wrote above that I've flashed APBOOT too, and you can't do that with one-package firmwares. I've tried 3 Gingerbreads and around 7-8 Froyo firmwares, from which only one or two were one-package, the rest were complete with all 4 files. Only the Gingerbread seemed to work, as if it was permanently stuck in my phone or something. Really strange. Anyway my phone's at the service center so waiting to see what they do of it.

Andro-id is customized version of gingerbread 2.3.4 and is better than gingerbread. And it also comes pre-rooted and is more flexible than official gingerberead.
Just flash a froyo rom for your region/area phone from http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-s5570.htm and flash it using odin one package option. If you have installed any custom recovery like CWM recovery, doing so will replace the custom recovery with stock recovery.
I think Andro-id 3.2 is better than gingerbread. but, cm7 is even more better than andro-id. THe diffrence however is cm7 looks and is completeley diffrent from gingerbread but andro-id looks similar and has similar functions to gingerbread... CM7 is very much customizable comes prerooted and can be overclocked.

Cwm for gts5570 currently doesn't support rfs so you can't backup froyo via cwm at the moment . But yiy can find froyo firmware for your region samfirmware.com download from there and flash using Odin. Where are you from? If you wanting will give the link to download froyo for your Tom. Also include the info you get when you dial *#1234#* in your dialer ( ie PDA version and baseband)

I came from italy
info version:
pda: S5570XIKF1
phone: S5570XXKB2
my question was if I can backup rom stock, because I would try to flash a custom rom (andro-id)... but if something goes wrong, or that rom doesn't like me, how can I go back to the original one?
Try searching for your rom on samfirmware.com . If you are able to find one you can flash it from odin to go back tp stock rom after upgrading to custom rom....
http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-s5570.htm
If you don't find try to google for your roms backup ...

Thanks bro U have a thank you from me
I wait for cyanogen final realease because he is still buggy
and one more question .... When i was on cyanogen mod7 for samsung galaxy mini i saw it uses only 50-60mb ram IS THAT REALLY ??!!!!
The ram consumed depend on how many apps and services you install.. May be a clean and fresh boot uses about 60 mb but when you go on installing apps the size increases.

Screen problems after installing KI3 and KI4

Hello,
I upgraded from 2.3.3 to KI4 and the screen calibration became BAD.
(compare image is attached, look at the icons, the black became too black and the color is way too strong).
I also tried KI3, and there is the same problem.
(all the changes made via CWM .zip updated (not Odin))
Thanks a lot

Changes made via CWM what version of stock KI3/KI4 is that or do you mean a custom rom ??
jje
All of them were stock roms (also tried 2.3.4 KH4) that include a kernel with CF ROOT and RTL fix.
the last rom i tried was madmack's KI3 (the picture i added is the KF2 (KE2 Kernel with root) with the good picture and the Madmack's KI3)
Confusion is stock rom via CWM i am not aware that is possible .
But you say Kernel ???
Madmacks custom rom ??? .
jje
I am sorry, not stock rom, custom rom with minor changes.
this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1083187
the KH4, KI4 and another KI3 that i tried is roms that the only changes that were done are the following:
1. RTL support.
2. CF ROOT.
the rom that i am using right now (2.3.3) is:
rom XXKF2
kernel XWKE2 rooted.
and that rom has a GREAT image quality.
anyone, help?
I got the same problem, I updated from stock to KE7, I 'm thinking that it might be due to a failed attempt on the first attempt to update the firmware using Kies, it got to 75% and did't budge after 4 hours so I was forced to disconnected, thought It bricked but luckily was able to access download mode and use Odin to upgrade to KE7, whoop, a solution to this great though??

Could be that Kies also updated your bootloader.
Just try to flash an GB ROM.
If you experience any booting issue, you may have to flash an GB bootloader.
You can find the different bootloaders here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16781156&postcount=2
Just look for a grey box with red text.
You can flash the bootloader in PDA section of Odin - same way like for the ROM or kernel.

Heat issues usually solved by a wipe, modem change, kernel change.
If you have not wiped, it's a good time now, as you have to do it anyway when you go from ICS to GB.

ICS to Gingerbread

I have a Sasktel Galaxy S II that I upgraded to ICS a while ago and have regretted doing so ever since. Battery life is poor, random glitches, wifi doesn't work properly... list goes on.
I can not for the life of me find the stock gingerbread rom so that I can push it from odin. sammobile only has the latest ics rom. Anyone know where I can find the stock rom? My baseband is I9100MUGLD3.
Or do custom roms have a chance of fixing the problems I am experiencing?

Aux contraire, there are GB firmwares in sammobile.com, you can just download them and flash them directly via odin..
do not forget to do the following steps:
- Boot to CWM recovery
- wipe cache partition
- wipe dalvik cache (under advanced)
- fix permissions (under advanced)
- reboot system now
I went back and searched some more.
Sammobile only lists the ICS rom under sasktel. But if you click on the more general canada drop down it lists 2.3.6 as well for my baseband.
Got it downloaded, will flash soon. I will return if I have anymore issues. Thanks!
